I ordered a cake for my one year anniversary. It was chocolate with cherry jam. The cake was GORGEOUS and it was delicious. Highly recommend

Came here on a Friday morning and by the time we got there the options were limited. There were about 6 or so options available, and of those 3 were bacon options (we don't do pork). We did try the key lime pie and a mango pineapple one. The filling on both were good, but I liked the key lime one better. The actual donut itself was on the dryer side in my opinion. Maybe I need to try it fresh to have a better experience. Maybe I'll try again on our next trip to MN. Service was friendly. It is a small bakery with no seating so it's more just order and pickup. It smells absolutely divine!

    four pack of donuts

I stopped in to get some donuts and they had quite the selection! I ended up getting 4 donuts to try including the bakers special churro, a cream filled donut, and two glazed. The flavors were great and so was the texture. The shop was very small but wel kept and the staff was welcoming. The man who served us was very peppy and just a delight. I am excited to come back and try more of their sweets! This location was easy to get to and had plenty of street parking surrounding the shop.

Half Dozen: 2 blueberry cake, one orange old fashioned, guess who, caramel nut danish and strawberry cream cheese danish

Thirsty Whale NEVER disappoints. Stopped in (a day late ) for national donut day, as if anyone needs a reason to get donuts, and grabbed a half dozen with friends. I was roped in on this occasion by their IG showing they had blueberry cake donuts and I don't find cake donuts at many places (looooove cake donuts). I'm also a sucker for a cream cheese danish. Things to know if you've never been: - It's a tight little street just off a tight little intersection. Expect parallel parking, and likely expect to walk about a block as they can get really busy. - It's also right inside, probably 3-4 customers max can fit it. Good news it's easy to see the whole array of what's available. - As with most donut shops it can get spendy compared to a national chain, but well worth it. Their donuts have stellar flavor across the board, and their standard glazed/frosted have a wonderful fluffiness and height. You won't be disappointed.

This cake went from $45.00 to $200.00 in just two years!!!

This used to be my favorite bakery for years. I contacted them recently via email for a quote on an 6 inch, round, two layer birthday cake. They quoted me $200 for this cake. There is no way I would pay that amount of money for a cake!!! I know the cost of things have increased post pandemic but this is ridiculous!!! The cake in the photo used to be $45.00 now it is $200.00

I'm going to try and keep this short and sweet. If thirsty whale isn't the best bakery in the twin cities then I don't know what is. I Read all the reviews and I was like "I've got to check this place out". It did not disappoint. First time checking out the bakery. Tiny spot, but don't let the size of this bakery fool you, it may be tiny but everything they sell pack quite a punch. I bought 2 dozen of an assorted mix of sweets for my coworkers one morning (see pictures). Let's just say, every single one of my coworkers wanted to know where the thirsty whale was so they could check it out for themselves. I cannot wait to be back!!!

For most holidays we like to grab some baked goods from a local shop. For Easter, we saw the cupcake offerings from Thirsty Whale and knew we had to have them. During pickup, I saw the other delectable breakfast options and ordered a few as well so that we had both a great start and end to the day. Breakfast: I am a Peanut Butter junkie - literally eat and drink anything with Peanut Butter in it and you can find me eating PB out of a jar. The Reeses Bomb donut was just meant for me. A beautiful chocolate glazed donut that was super fluffy and filled to the brim with a creamy - but light - peanut butter filling that tastes like the inside of a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. Just for good measure more Reeses sprinkled on top. Apple Fritter - my favorite breakfast food. Just with the donut it's airy and flavorful. It has just the right amount of glaze to both admire the crunchy exterior with the pillowy apple interior. Cupcakes: Now we had to try all six of the Easter cupcakes. They were beautifully decorated and all tasted phenomenal. I almost felt bad biting into them and destroying the cute designs (ok, not really, it was too good to feel bad). -Lemon Raspberry Chick -Honeywine Moscato with Triple-berry Mousse Tulips -Amaretto Cherry Bunny Butt -Carrot Cream Cheese Easter Message -Chocolate Malt Bird Nest -Chocolate Orange Carrot in Dirt

Lemon poppyseed old fashioned, bakers special (hostess style), a sparkling wine donut, and a Cheddar Roasted Garlic Chive Beer Bread!

I've been meaning to make my way here since I moved to the area years ago. With Covid restrictions going away I was finally able to do so! I stopped by for some donuts and bread on a Saturday around 10am. This is a popular spot so you may need to park a block down and walk. Street parking only. Small interior that can fit maybe 3 people, luckily service is fast if you can decide what you want! I decided on the lemon poppyseed old fashioned, bakers special (hostess style vanilla filled donut), a sparkling wine donut, and a Cheddar Roasted Garlic Chive Beer Bread! They have donuts decorated like highland cows on the shelf too! So cute! These donuts are well worth the price, SUPER rich and filling. Their bread was priced right as well! The vanilla buttercream filling on the bakers special was heavenly! The sparkling wine donut did actually have a grape flavor, and the lemon poppyseed old fashioned donut I would come back for again and again! The donuts are behind the counter, so no need to worry about sticky hands touching everything! The rack is labeled clearly so just let them know what you want!

Thirsty Whale Bakery knocked it out of the park with my cake! They were so accommodating to my ideas and gave me quotes on all the different cakes I had in mind. Plus it was absolutely delicious! Also, their cheesecake shooters and cupcakes were a big hit that we didn't have any leftover from the wedding. We got so many compliments on it! I only rated 4/5 because the day we were suppose to pick up our tasting box there was a slip up and they didn't have it ready so it made me concerned about them forgetting my order day of wedding. Then their hours are quite odd so sometimes it takes a while to hear back from them especially if you want a follow up on something. Day of wedding they killed it and their prices are quite good for what you're ordering too!

We had a custom made birthday cake for our baby's first birthday and we're blown away! Even better than what we imagined. They asked appropriate questions to be sure that we were getting what we wanted. The order was ready on time with easy pick up. It taste great too. We did buttercream frosting which was delicious. We picked a chocolate cake with raspberry mousse like filling. It was moist and tasty, a huge hit!

Have a special occasion that you need a wonderfully decorated and equally delicious cake for?? Look no further this is your place!! We ordered a Batman themed cake and cupcakes for our boys birthday and they did not disappoint. You need to order at least 3 weeks in advance!! Also, they brought back their donuts, hallelujah!!! I was so sad when they discontinued them, so be sure and get their donuts as well!

I found the speaker with a rating of 4.5 stars on yelp and Apple maps. So I stopped by to try their donuts it seems that some Dunkin' Donuts last November. So I ordered a croissant which was almond croissant. It looked like a cross-croissant wanna be because it was not raised it was thick and not melting in my mouth like a regular croissant. It felt dry But it had the silkiest almond filler ever. I would have ordered a pistachio muffin if they had one. Plenty of cars stopping to pick up their orders.

They make some changes to their menu weekly, and they offer weekend specials, so I recommend following them on social media for all the updates! I've enjoyed everything I've had at Dahlia, from breakfast sandwiches to quiche to pastries. You really can't go wrong here, as long as you get here before everything sells out! They do offer preorders online on Thursdays and Fridays but weekends are first come, first serve so get there early! The pastries here are some of the best you can find in the cities! The croissant dough has so many layers, is airy and perfectly flakey yet crispy. Both their sweet and savory croissants are great.

Much like MN Nice Cream, small and popping inside space. I went in on a Sunday around 11 and it was bumpin' as they say. Long line, decent pace however, and cheery staff. Snagged the Le Bistro breakfast sandwich which was huge and tasted absolutely amazing. The egg, the aioli, the cheese, get in my belly. I had it with the pork shoulder bacon. Also went for a dirty chai iced to wash it down which was spot on with flavor without being too much. (Some places that chai will boom too much if you know what I mean ). Also tried the carrot cake which, not going to lie, it looked gorgeous, but didn't hit the spot. It didn't pack a ton of flavor imo but could be me (carrot cake obsessed). Overall great experience and highly recommend. Pricing? Competitive as they say. Worth it. Support local. Thank me later.

The whole agency was raving and asking where it was from - we even had a couple of people want to use them for their upcoming celebrations! Some highlights for me included: * The hot chocolate tarte was rich and delicious - and it truly was a hot chocolate flavor! * The apple manchego sandwiches were the perfect blend of fall flavors, and everyone was shocked it wasn't a dry sandwich with all the toppings! SInce this is a place where you order at the counter, reservations don't really make sense. And we got in faster than estimated for Mother's Day. I also noticed the staff didn't look stressed out despite the crowd. The large windows face north and west like my home, but somehow it feels bright and sunny, probably assisted by the blond furniture and gold and white colors. Water is self serve, but the rest of your order arrives fairly quickly after you sit down. I loved both of the brunches I ordered, getting a green salad with a delicious vinaigrette on the side is a lovely contrast to the indulgent loaded hash browns or soft scramble. My sons went for heartier fare and had no complaints, they would rate their food 4 out of 5 though the jam was reportedly awesome. I'd go 5 out of 5 on the loaded hash browns, because somehow they are still nice and crisp under all the yummy things on top of them. The coffee is very good, and I consider myself a coffee snob. Baked goods happy hour is a nice feature too. After dropping off his brother, my oldest twisted my arm to go back and get some half price cinnamon rolls since it had just passed 1 pm. The bathroom is across a hallway, shared with other businesses, and sparkling clean. There are fancier brunches out there in the Twin Cities, but I think this place deserves 5 stars for the whole experience, it's casual, but classier than a diner.

Once I saw that there were tables available after picking up the bag, I went and got my friend who was waiting for me (parking is tenuous in this area) so that we could have lunch. We both got the Ropa Vieja Hash and decaf. Ropa Vieja is one of my all-time favorite foods, so I always get it when available. I was a little scared, honestly, because I don't know who's in the kitchen and wondered if they'd make it correctly. Well, I can tell you that this meal was stellar, with only one caveat. The egg was not over easy/soft, so we couldn't mix the yolk with everything else. We will be sure to stipulate this when next we have this delicious treat. The house-made tortillas and friend plantain were a perfect match to the hash. The Ropa Vieja was tender and seasoned beautifully. We will certainly be back. They have a Ropa Vieja sandwich that we both were eyeing when deciding to try the hash. The staff are friendly enough and helpful when you have a need. Oh, the "hot sauce" that's maple and jalapeno is a definite no. Fortunately they had Cholula, which we didn't actually use. It was not needed for the hash.
