Truthfully, I was on the hunt for a bathroom, but was more than willing to grab a sweet treat while we were there. I had already peeked at what people were enjoying out on the patio, and on such a perfect spring day, it was hard to pass up. We ended up trying a few macarons. They were beautifully displayed and there were so many flavors to choose from. We had a family dinner later that day, so they felt like a great option to bring along. We stopped in closer to 1pm so I'm guessing the selection of donuts and cakes was a bit picked over compared to the morning hours. That said, they still have a good variety and I would definitely go back earlier in the day to try one of those donuts! We had a few questions about how the macarons would hold up in a warmer car, and the employee helping us was happy to answer everything. It seemed like the owner was there as well and heading out for the day. She was very kind, especially to let us use the bathroom. One quick note, Google shows Amy's Cupcake Shoppe as permanently closed, so they may want to look into updating that. Overall, a really great stop and one I'm glad I stumbled into - those usually are the best!

But it's not! Everything is gluten free. Everything. They don't even let gluten in the restaurant! How cool. I decided to order 2 chicken breakfast skillets, a cinnamon coffee cake and a bacon and cheese breakfast quiche. All of it was on point. What made me dock it a star was the customer service. The ladies up front were just kinda bland and not friendly & made you feel stupid for confirming everything was gluten free. I even had another lady come in after me and say the same thing and the girl behind the counter was like "well....... Everything is gluten free so....." and I also came up to the counter to tell them how good the food was and the girl was like "yea...... it is." So for me that's the main thing that dampened an otherwise fantastic stop! Would definitely come back if I was in the area. 5/5 on food 3/5 on customer service!

For such a simple order, the wait time was excessive, and the overall experience was disappointing.

They're located in the strip mall on the east side of 47, between the dental clinic and Subway. Allison makes many kinds of pastries, mostly mini cupcakes and macarons. The artwork came out exactly how we envisioned it, and we were so happy with how the cake looked. They recommended switching to buttercream because it would work better for the artwork, and I was a little hesitant because I normally don't like buttercream. This was honestly the first time I've actually enjoyed it! It wasn't overly thick or heavy, and it had just the right amount of sweetness. Communication throughout the process was great, and everyone was incredibly kind and accommodating. We were even running late for our pickup time after our flight, and they were completely understanding about it. The cake looked amazing, tasted great, and was exactly what we wanted. I'm so glad I found them while planning from out of state, and I would absolutely order from them again! (Please note, the cake was decorated by the bakery, but we added the Chainsaw Man art ourselves, after the fact.)

Either way it makes fantastic baked goods and is a really great destination for Mexican bakery stuff. This Market itself is a little bit busy and hipster and has a lot of international stuff that is a little overpriced and not always authentic but in this case it's very authentic and very cheap and probably honestly belongs over at the Mercado Central instead but considering that it's here instead of at the Central, it's actually making this place much better and I appreciate it being here.

They gain their star back for always having fresh bolillo rolls and for doing a good job of showcasing their cakes. I buy tres leches cake for friends' birthdays here. You should definitely try it before you buy one (they do sell single slices) because not everybody likes it-- kind of a wet, spongy cake that is rich and sweet but very different from the dry, fluffy American style cakes that we are used to. They always look incredible with the ripe glazed fruit on top and are delicious to eat. I also really like this location because you can see the bakers at work. Once I saw the owner frosting a wedding cake and once I saw him decorating a few tres leches cakes at one time. It was very artistic and I thought it was cool that they put up glass so you can watch how it all happens. Smells wonderful too!
