Peregrine Burger pancakes
Ariel A.

We're visiting Boston for the weekend and stopped here for breakfast. This place felt very upscale, and the staff were very polite. I got their burger and my boyfriend got the pancakes. The burger was very good, I'm not a fan of onions but this was acceptable. My partner wasn't a big fan of the pancakes, they were more on the cakey side. I personally thought they were delicious. I think the only critique I have is they could have checked up on us more, but it was still a great experience.

Scrambled Eggs

Lovely vibes and friendly service, but the food here is nothing special for the price in flavors or presentation. The price for add-ons is especially egregious, with the $3 side of tomatoes being simply 4 slices of tomato. This would be a cute place to grab drinks, but would not recommend for the food that could be bought at a better value from Whole Foods down the street.

Polenta, broccoli, chicken all made with olive oil, salt and pepper. Amazing taste, perf cooked juicy chicken.

Five stars all the way. We stopped in here not knowing much about the food. I have several dietary restrictions including gluten, dairy and low fodmap.... this meal was custom created by the kitchen and it tasted amazing! My fiancé had a normal meal and it was also amazing. Highly recommend!

Dining method: Dine-in Item(s) ordered: Floral Fizz, Gin + Petals, Rosemary potatoes Service: Wonderful, kind servers. Very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu Value: For a beautiful, trendy spot, the prices were reasonable. The Review: We were just looking for a spot to wind down with a drink and we got more than we could've asked for! Peregrine is a lovely spot tucked away in the West End/Beacon Hill, inside the Whitney Hotel. There were a ton of gluten-free options, and I'm sure for other dietary needs as well. We would've gotten dinner here, if we didn't have reservations elsewhere! Will definitely be back, at the very least for more drinks!

Snowgroni, Frostbite Cocoa

Went here yesterday for some drinks. The customer service was great, staff was friendly and the bartender was entertaining. We were seated at the bar and were quickly served. While it is a super cool place, and has an upscale vibe, the drinks honestly were not good. We had the Frostbite Cocoa, Snowgroni, Espresso Martini, and a glass of wine. They honestly do not have a good italian selection which was disappointing. The drinks also were just terrible. The espresso martini was one of the worst ones I've had in boston and I truly would not recommend it. The other drinks were very pretty and presentation was clearly the strong suit, however they were definitely hard to drink. I dont know if the flavors just dont go together or it was made wrong but really the drinks were not good. We did not get any food so we will be back to try but will not be getting drinks next time.

Generous portion of Pappardelle w/Tender Chicken, Ricotta & Brussel Sprouts. This is a glamour shot of our last bite.

Complimentary bites of olives & cheese for the hotel guests is a nice touch. The staff were so welcoming, especially our bartender Diego. We kicked off our evening with a flight of red wine and a faux Mai Tai. Their roasted chestnuts, although not on an open fire, were a yummy snack. The papperdelle dish with tender chicken, ricotta & brussel sprouts was delicious & flavorful. We ended our evening with a basque style creamy cheesecake that paired well with a decaf cappuccino. After dinner we stepped into their courtyard adorned with a Christmas tree, fire pit, seating w/throw pillows & twinkling lights.

Truffle grilled cheese

My girlfriend and I came here for Sunday brunch and had a great experience. I had the truffle grilled cheese - easily the best grilled cheese sandwich I have had. The bread was perfectly toasted with melted cheese and truffle that oozed inside. My girlfriend had the pomodoro baked eggs. The eggs were perfectly mixed in and sat in delicate pools inside the tomato sauce. Cooked to perfection. The ambience is very cozy. The natural light coming in through the windows from Charles street really makes you feel warm and at home. The design of the tiles and floor patterns are another added touch that puts this restaurant a notch above the rest. The servers were extremely friendly and personable especially Mark who served us and made some suggestions that made our experience that much better. One of the premier locations in the Boston area.

Pork Shoulder Roulade
Nikolai K.

Pretty solid place, nice atmosphere, and good service (pricy but makes sense for the above). The food is Mediterranean inspired, lots of Italian, Spanish, French, general European influences in the menu choices. Great wine pairings - I got the wine flight (3 generous pours of any three wines - whites or reds - for amount/about the price of 1 glass), and was fun to taste and go back and forth between them with the food. Menu is rotating is what we were told, I had the pork shoulder roulade which had nice farro on the side - the farro was actually the tastiest part (roulade very good but just a bit dry). Apps were good but small to split between 4 people. Atmosphere is nice, fit for occasions both more and less casual.

Salad

YIKES. $$$$$ and small portions. Need more? For real though... cute MGH area with lots of bars around. Staff was very knowledgeable about the alcohol/wines. Would recommend ordering the wine flight.

Pappardelle pasta
Jacqui L.

A great restaurant in the Whitney hotel, with a gorgeous interior design. Love their bar aesthetic and even though it was a smaller restaurant, I was impressed by the quality and variety in their menu. I had the pappardelle which featured these super wide noodles, tender chicken, and creamy ricotta. This also seems like a perfect place for business travelers and young professionals looking for a quick bite!

For my own birthday this year, I chose Oleana, supposedly one of Boston's best Mediterranean…read morerestaurants, and reservations are almost a month in advance. Overall, I was satisfied. Fatteh: The presentation was beautiful, with a delightful array of layers. Between two layers of crispy chips laid the chewy texture of fried mushrooms, the sweetness of cauliflower, the nutty aroma of pine nuts, and the refreshing sweet and sour taste of yogurt--a random combination that offered a different experience with every bite. The cauliflower, in particular, was crisp yet not tough, with a naturally gentle sweetness--a first for me. However, towards the end, the crispy chips became very slightly oily. Sultan's Delight: Perfect as a main course. The beef was stewed to perfection, incredibly tender and flavorful, almost falling apart the moment it touched the knife. It required absolutely no effort, reminiscent of a master butcher skillfully carving up an ox in Zhuangzi莊子, who kept his knife like new over nineteen years. The tamarind brought a slightly fermented, tangy aroma, while the smoked eggplant puree, likely babaganoush, was smooth and creamy with a mild, pleasant smokiness. The lemon juice, however, adds a refreshing touch, creating an interesting layering of acidity. It looked small, but it was surprisingly satisfying. The only downsides were the beef was slightly over-salty and the basil leaves, which seem to serve only a decorative purpose. Baked Alaska: A signature dessert, very popular on social media. Frankly, I came specifically for this, but after eating it, all I can say is, "Who's promoting this?"... The presentation was truly stunning, and the first few bites were quite good. The meringue was was torched to create a thin, burnt crust, resulting in a delicate and light texture, while the coconut ice cream blended with the bitter aroma of coffee. However, the base, a nut tart similar to a five-nut mooncake五仁月餅 filling, was too dense and heavy; the passion fruit syrup was excessively sweet and acidic, even a small amount was cloying, making it a torture by the end. The restaurant tables were a bit uneven and hopefully they will be repaired soon.

Something seemed off, in-authentic, shallow. just read a few reviews many of which seem to validate this burnished image and reputation. finally last Saturday night it was no longer an option to avoid an experience. There was an event to celebrate and I was invited. the propitious moment was hoisted upon me. would it measure up or be a mirage in the desert? Having never dined there I had no real experience to compare it with but for a Turkish-Mediterranean place it felt like all sizzle, no steak. While there are too many things to take issue with the most obvious is the wide discrepancy between the quality and quantity of portions relative to price. Under any circumstances the food was uniformly entirely unexceptional outside the fact it was consistently mediocre to poor. Tasteless, unimaginative, inappropriate cooked, greasy, ,lacking authentic spicing, and decidedly NOT presented for purposes of sharing. It is a deceptive approach to call it Tapas like and the predominant theme from our "primary waiter" was spend more money. The commercialization based on its reputation was frankly embarrassing and reason to cross it off a "must visit" list. Reminded me of a visit to Eastern Standard a few years ago. I have to imagine refined diners must have a wistful "used to be good attitude". My one and only trip made me feel like I was swindled at a Casablanca bazzar.

The menu refers to these as "Greek cheese bread" but somehow that doesn't do it justice - these were immensely pillowy and cheesy, with an amazing crust, with homemade honey butter on the side. I could have had just these for dinner and been satisfied. They really nailed the bread. My other favorites: 1. Hipiti: spicy whipped feta with crispy potatoes on the side. I don't do well with spice but I absolutely loved this. 2. Marouli: winter lettuce with the most amazing vinaigrette dressing. My only knock to this is, presentation-wise, they serve it with half of the plate empty and the other half with salad. I don't understand why restaurants do this because - one, it only highlights the smaller portion and two, we're just going to mix the salad all around in the bowl anyway. 3. Boudeto: daily catch in a beautiful tomato broth. For a seafood dish at a restaurant in Back Bay, this was priced at a fairly reasonable $28. The only dish that fell a little flat for me was the tzatziki - needed a bit more seasoning. As it was, I was eating mostly just plain yogurt. The table-side preparation was cool, though. The space is its own visual dinner, there's simply a lot to look at (including a drawing of Poseidon riding a surf board). We got the big table in the back, which was a beautiful glass structure with a whole terrarium underneath. We couldn't stop marveling at it throughout the meal. Our waiter was wonderful - very helpful recommendations, came by to check on us often even though we were pretty far in the back, super patient with our questions. Hard to get reservations but worth it! Don't bother driving / trying to find parking unless you're willing to eat a hefty garage fee, it's Back Bay.

Given that Mediterranean cuisine is generally pretty accommodating to that, not having even a falafel option for protein certainly came as a surprise! My first time here, we ended up with the fish and chips and baklava - both were edible but not great, and the best item on the table ended up being the complimentary bread (lots of end pieces, which I'm personally a fan of, but others may feel differently). The fish was uninspired and didn't taste like much, and the chips were steak fries, which lived up to the reputation of being less crunchy and seasoned. I was really excited for the baklava, but it also ended up disappointing. The texture was hardened, like it wasn't fresh, and it was so overpoweringly sweet that we couldn't finish it. On my second visit, the bread was just as good, and we ordered a nice spread: fried zucchini, spanakopita, beef dolmades, rice pilaf, and gyro (without meat). The gyro was sad without falafel or any protein option, but the veggies inside were pretty good. On the other hand, I wasn't a huge fan of any of the appetizers/sides. The fried zucchini was incredibly oily and wet, without much flavor; the rice pilaf did have some sauce on top but wasn't particularly tasty. The spanakopita was decent but I wouldn't go out of my way to order it again. I will note, however, that the staff was excellent, attentive and accommodating. The outdoor patio was also quite nice and a beautiful spot to sit on the street and people-watch.
