    Chicken parm sandwich

    Setting was very nice and staff was nice too. The bread was a kind of sandwich bread, more of the kind you would find in a casual diner not in an Italian restaurant in the North End. The chicken parm sandwich was a good portion and checked all the boxes. The chicken was a bit tough and chewy though and the sandwich bread did not hold very well. My friends burger also came very charred which wasn't great. Overall it was fine and very efficient but I think there are other places in the area with better pricing and food quality.

    I visited Libertine on a Wednesday evening. There were other customers there, but it wasn't too crowded. I ordered the caldo verde with a side of grilled chicken, while my friend got a caesar salad with a side of salmon. I liked the interior decor & appreciated the complimentary bread served with balsamic vinegar & olive oil. The staff was also friendly & accommodating.

    We loved everything about this. My husband is Portuguese and we had a lot of fun, trying some favorite dishes and having some great wine and beer. Server Maeve was wonderful, and we got there right at the correct time Before the rush so everything went super smoothly.

    First of all... having a menu that is 98% gluten free is just awesome!! Not to mention the fact that the food and service is amazing! Such a quaint warm atmosphere with the most delightful wait staff. Our server was Carlo. He was incredibly professional yet warm and personable. He was very informative and very well versed on ingredients on the menu. I ordered the tagliatelle funghi which was gluten free and amazing! I was even served warm bread with olive oil... do yourself a kindness and have dinner here!

    Libertine has everything it needs to be a great place, but it needs some work. We walked in just to grab a couple drinks and a bite while we were in the area. We didn't have a reservation but we were able to grab a seat at the bar. The bar is big and comfortable, some tvs for games and bartenders are very friendly. The beer was good. The espresso martini was not very good. We've tried a lot in the area and Boston in general, and this one was bottom of the barrel. It was also a lot darker than most we've had, so not sure what made it so bad. The fried calamari was only that: fried calamari. It didn't taste like it was seasoned and lacked flavor. Very disappointing. We didn't have a full dinner and try a variety of dishes. I have a lot of hope that this place could be great. It's a great location, good space, and good service.

    Great gluten free experience here! I loved having my own bread and dip and being able to order from an extensive list of appetizers and entrees.

    Libertine is a Portuguese-Italian fusion restaurant and a must try for those who eat gluten-free! The menu is advertised as 98% gluten-free (with the exception of ravioli dishes, such as the lobster ravioli). Libertine has a generous drink selection which includes port wines, hard seltzers, mocktails, and of course gluten-free beers... on top of the standard beer, wine and cocktail selection. Each appetizer at Libertine can be made gluten-free. My table opted to go with the choco frito (fried Portuguese style cuddle fish). The cuddle fish themselves were lightly breaded and perfectly fried, and served with a garlic sriracha aioli. Ideally there could have been a few more pieces of cuddle fish for the $23 price tag, but it was filling enough as an appetizer. For main dishes, I ordered the lobster tail ravioli (non gluten-free) and my companion ordered the lobster tail carbonara, a gluten-free dish. Both dishes came out hot and in decently sized portions (not too small, but not big enough to take home for leftovers). The lobster ravioli came with six large ravioli. Both the ravioli and the lobster tail carbonara came in a creamy sauce filled with surprise chunks of lobster claw, which were cooked to an enjoyable and flaky consistency. The service at Libertine was friendly and the food came out in a reasonable time. Our server offered us dessert at the close of our meal, though we did not have any more room and declined to see the dessert menu. The check total was what I expected for Italian dining in the North End. There were a few other dishes on the menu that caught my eye and I'd like to try next time I am at Libertine, such as the grilled octopus, chouriço bombeiro, meatballs, and gnocchi sorrentina.

    Was in Boston wife's first time so we had to hit the north end for Italian. We were there for lunch so not a lot of places are opened for lunch so we stopped in. The inside was with the typical Italian decor but it had air conditioning which was nice walking in the heat. We started with the fired calamari which I am lucky my wife ate since she is not a huge seafood person but it was delicious. I had Mariscada which had a very good taste and the dish was overall was different and delicious. My wife had the ravioli and she said it was very good The owner was great and she kept checking in on us and kept our glasses full. If I am ever back in Boston I will hit this place up again.

    Went here with my friend recently who is celiac and we had a great experience! We had a reservation and were seated immediately (a rare experience in north end!). She got a mocktail and loved it, I got a spritz which was also delicious. We got the mozzarella curds as our appetizer which were great, the aioli was great with them. My friend was super happy as she hasn't had fried food in years being celiac. For our entrees, she got the chicken parm and loved it (it was huge). I got the funghi tagliette and it was so good! I loved the truffle cream sauce- I could have drank it. We definitely overate and were in a food coma afterwards which is a testament to how good it was, and my friend didn't get glutened which was a big win. All of our food came out in good time too, which is another rarity for north end. There also wasn't any overwhelming music playing so we were able to hear each other perfectly fine. Will definitely be back!

    I had a great experience here. Had the gluten free chicken parm and was able to get calamari gluten free, and a cocktail, all very delicious. My boyfriend got the lobster pasta. I would go back again! Service was great.

    Everything about Libertine is amazing. It is easy to find in the North End. They have many gluten free options (everything on the menu except ravioli can be made GF). The service was amazing, knowledgeable, efficient, and kind. The vibe in there is so fun, it is industrial yet cozy. It was decorated for Christmas but not over the top. We each had amazing food. I had gluten free bolognese and my partner had gluten free chicken parmesan. I don't remember a time I've enjoyed pasta so much or that it has tasted so nice. Also, the gluten free bread for dipping at the beginning, that was the icing on the cake.

    Food was fabulous! Absolutely loved the lobster carbonara! Lobster was cooked to perfection and the homemade pasta was delicious. Would go back and eat this again and again! My friend is Gluten Free and Dairy Free, and the chef came out to speak with her personally to help decipher what would be best. They decided on seared scallops and a vegan risotto prepared especially for her. She loved it. Just to note: all the pasta here is GF. The staff is knowledgeable and happy to help! GF bread options as well. I had the tiramisu as well which they comp'd because it was the last piece and wasn't the normal full-size. It was also amazing. Ambience was loud and tables were close together. Dressy or casual attire is fine here. Highly recommend for the food, and go at an off time if you want a quieter experience.

    First thing first ... I been coming to the North End to eat and drink for years ... I enjoy and love many restaurants and cafes the area .. BUT.... The Libertine located at 125 Salem St is the TRUTH!!! The ambiance inside is great ... The drinks (Old Fashion) and the (Grinch drink) were perfectly balanced. Maybe the best Old Fashion I ever had... definitely the best one I had in the North End. I posted the food we order and enjoyed and I promise you will be extremely happy with everything that is dropped on your table .... The owners Arlene and John were the perfect host moving from table to table greeting the guests making sure everyone was happy and satisfied with their meal.. Our waiter was friendly and nice, though the service did feel a little rushed at times. That said, the food was absolutely delicious. We started with the calamari to share, and it was beautifully prepared -- crispy, fresh, and not overly heavy. For my entree, I ordered the seafood pasta and really loved it. The seafood tasted fresh, the pasta was cooked perfectly, and the flavors all came together really well.

We got the big table in the back, which was a beautiful glass structure with a whole terrarium underneath. We couldn't stop marveling at it throughout the meal. Our waiter was wonderful - very helpful recommendations, came by to check on us often even though we were pretty far in the back, super patient with our questions. Hard to get reservations but worth it! Don't bother driving / trying to find parking unless you're willing to eat a hefty garage fee, it's Back Bay.

The bread had large air pockets, visibly soft, with a rich aroma of salt and milk; the olive oil was smooth and mellow, with a full-bodied fragrance, and the aftertaste even included a subtle, restrained hint of tea. Even knowing it's a calorie bomb, I couldn't resist dipping it in more. Baccala Mantecato: Classic Venetian flavor. The salted cod was tender and delicate, almost like a light foam, somewhere between raw silk and mousse; the dark bread was simple yet not coarse, perfectly balancing the saltiness of the cod. The most surprising thing was the refreshing aroma of celery leaves that emerged in the aftertaste, lingering and persistent. Lumache: When looking at the menu, seeing "chili butter, Jonah crab, breadcrumb," I never expected such a distinct citric acidity. The subtle acidity was gently enveloped in the fatty aroma of chili butter, perfectly complementing the umami and sweetness of the crab meat with just the right amount of spiciness. The lumache were firm and chewy, the sauce rich and smooth, and the breadcrumbs light and crisp, creating a rich and distinct texture. The portion was generous; even after microwaved the next day, the sauce had naturally broken down and the lemon's tartness had dissipated, but the noodles mixed with chili oil still had a unique flavor. Tiramisu: Highly renowned, and the staff were quite confident. The surface was covered with a thick layer of crispy cocoa nibs, the cake itself is incredibly soft and moist, and digging inside reveals an "underground river" of coffee liquid, while its bitterness was perfectly balanced by the sweet Marsala. The overall flavor was sweet and mellow, less bitter than typical tiramisu, with more layers of complexity. Actually, I was hoping for a slightly bitter version. Even on a weekday, it was packed with customers; by 5:10 PM, only one bar seat was left. Reservations are highly recommended.
