    Cider flight

There are a few things you should know before going. I thought this brewery was like most other breweries where you can sit and spend a lot of time drinking ciders. What I learned after researching is that you are only allowed to order one flight per person and they do not do single pours. Also there is a limited amount of tables so your time is limited as well. The atmosphere is very cool as you are sitting inside where the cider is made and it is definitely worth checking out. They do have a bar outside by the water where you can get single pours, weather permitted.

They have an outside area with a food license and an area inside the warehouse where each person must get 1 flight. They have exclusive flavors like the Orange Creamsicle and Prickly Pear. The tropical flavors were tasty, like Peach Mango. Some of the flavors started tasting very similar to the original. Other interesting flavors were the Blue Slushie and Lemon Italian Ice. They sell merch and packs.

This is one of my favorite cider places and whenever I'm in Boston, I usually make a trek here. I actually wasn't going to come this time but I looked up their website and found that they had a cider house exclusive in my favorite flavors - yuzu and ginger, so I had to come and grab some cans. My friends and I ordered flights and I picked up my preorder with the guy who handed us the token for flights. (Note you can only have one flight but in the summer, they have a pop up closer to the water a couple feet away if you wanted to relax and have more cider.)

Visiting Downeast was an absolute must for my recent trip to Massachusetts. I was so hyped to be able to check out their site and get a look at where one of my favorite ciders is made. My small group arrived relatively early in the day, which was helpful since there's very minimal seating indoors. You receive tokens for trying out drinks and you can order a flight of what you want. They are limited, so if you want to keep drinking, you need to head across the way by the water to their cider garden. We got to sample a few different items, but their menu seemed slightly limited. In addition to buying cans of cider, they have merch for sale. My SO wanted a hat and ciders to go, so we approached one of two cashiers. One cashier was busy with other customers, so we went to the one who had no one in front of them. They told us to continue waiting in line for the other cashier to take us, which made zero sense to me. After waiting for a bit since the other customers had some merch issue going on, the first cashier we tried told us they would ring us up...it's fair to say that I was pretty annoyed; I'm not a fan of my time being wasted unnecessarily. Overall, it's fun to stop in, but much like apples for cider, the experience was quite sour.

$15 flights (4 tastings per flight) but only one per person. You can sit in their "lab" which is an open warehouse and only open Thursday through Sunday. A sight to see with their wall to ceiling cider cans as the assembly line can be heard in back. There are about 13 different ciders in tap, but the bartenders are more than happy to give a "tasting" of any other flavors. One of the kegs was being refilled so we were able to sample one for the wait. We were also also participants in a new lemon FMB (flavored malt beverage) Winter blend (5/5) Guava passion fruit (5/5) Pink lemonade (1/5) Green Apple Candy (1/5) Pumpkin (5/5) Cranberry (4/5) BlackBerry (4/5) Blue slushie (3/5) Caramel Apple (3/5) Root beer float (4/5) Drier side (5/5) Overboard (5/5)

Overall: short review for a short experience but if you love Downeast then pop on over! The flights are reasonably priced at $14 and they even let you sample them. The "bartender" if you can even call them that helps recommend different mixes that would be good! They offer different things based on the season but being able to trial some of the cider house exclusives (fruit punch) was really unique! You can also get merchandise and different downeast flavors without worrying about the markup that might happen at liquor stores!

I remember when this brewery used to be in Charlestown years ago. This was first time visiting the East Boston brewery. I just want to say that this place is amazing and there's no other cider that comes close to this. This is definitely my all time favorite Cider and will always be. I grabbed a growler of the Pumpkin Blend to take back to Jersey with me and it's so good. Keep up the great work.

It is my mission whenever I am traveling somewhere to go to a local brewery/cidery/winery. As a lover of ciders I was excited to try out Downeast! Here they offer flights that you can turn tickets in for, or you can sip on your favorite hard cider of choice. The staff did a great job of explaining the process and filling us in on their history, which is always cool to hear. For my cider flight I went with the Sour Green Apple, Aloha Friday, Extra Hard Lemon Italian Ice, and the Maple Waffle. My favorites were the sour green apple which tasted like hard candy, and the deliciously scented maple waffle! I love that this cidery hosts people inside of their warehouse! Next time I'd love to do a tour if possible to learn more about the production.

Extremely reasonably priced flights and a good way to try out some of the flavors that aren't in the market yet. They rotate what is on tap. Great growlers that come in 32 or 64 ounces. Our favorites were the peach mango, guava passionfruit, and the lemon! You can bring your own food. They don't sell any food. Across the way is a spot that sells full glasses. The taproom has specific hours and is in the warehouse. Make sure you check the hours before going! Parking is free outside the tap house.

Awesome cider here! Got a flight of four different kinds of cider. They were all great! They have cider available to go! Canned and ready. Warehouse setting.

So many cool flavors to try! Vibes are industry chic with large pallets of empty cans. They give you a token so that you are limited to 1 flight per person. They have some exclusive flavors there though!!

If you love all things downeast, this is the place to go, especially during the summer time because they have an outdoor pop up area where you can buy more drinks and take in sights of the Boston skyline! In the actual cider house, you can only get one flight of drinks but still super cool to hang out in their cool warehouse interior with rows and rows of cans, and taste test and sample different flavors they have seasonally and year round! I ended up getting the guava passion fruit mixed with the tropical (yes you can mix flavors!), the fruit punch, blueberry, and seasonal cider donut! They were all delicious with fruit punch taking the cake for me! A great place to have fun with friends and try this Boston exclusive cider!

My friends and I went here on a weekend. Absolutely loved it and wish we could have taken the cider back home with us! Friendly staff and wish we could have had more than just a flight at the place but luckily they let you bring a growler to go which we did and loved! If we're ever back in Boston we will definitely come back to this place. It was so much fun!
