Cutest orchard in Mass! Absolutely beautiful during the winter season & got my fix with the best cider donuts! Not to mention the best Granny Smith apples. Absolutely fell in love with the decor and amount of variation with holiday sweets & treats. They even have take home recipes to share with family and friends to stay warm during the winter. Soups, desserts, snacks, fresh cider and lemonades- they have it all. Definitely have to check out this spot.

This farm was so cute!!! The seating area for the hard cider was clean and picturesque. I didn't try any of their food since we went right after already eating lunch but it looked (and smelled) good. The ciders were so tasty! I hate how they don't allow you to choose the ciders for your own flights but it didn't turn me off so much that I wouldn't come back. It was a bit of a rough day with service but our waitress was doing her best and she apologized for being slow. The flowers were beautiful!

Crisp, Delicious, and well-balanced cider made fresh on site! We ordered the flight and we could truly taste the differences between each pour. Most of the time I feel like the writers of a beer/wine/cider use too many 'fluff' words to make it sound fancy or try to impress us as consumers, but these ciders are so well made that the flavors are present and overly-descriptive narrations are not needed. We ordered a Big Apple pizza that was a brie spread base, carmalized onions, and topped with fresh apples and balsamic glaze. Ohhhh Myyyyy, it was incredible! I hadn't had a brie pizza before and I hope it's not my last. I couldn't get enough, even after my stomach pleaded with me not to eat anymore. The location itself is cute, a rustic barn with family style seating, beautiful orchard views, and plenty of outdoor space to sip back and relax. If you're looking for a place to enjoy the nice weather, this is your spot. There's a cute gift shop on site as well so make sure to check that out, too!

It was great! Peach pizza was amazing and the pioneer drinks were also great! Next time im will try fruit picking!

Covered outdoor barstool seating with orchard view

Went to Carlsons for the first time and decided to try the Pioneer flight, as well as the the Peach Festival (on its own). Both were great and you definitely don't get skimped on the flight. The plain cider was really good too and less than $3 if you aren't looking to drink! We also got the Chicken Caesar pizza, which was delicious, but I didn't grab a picture. If you get the chance, grab the seats that face the orchard (there's cornhole too) as the view is really nice, especially during sunset. But if it is busy, there will be people with kids, so inside or the tent covered seating is just as good. The wait staff were great as well; would definitely come back or recommend if you are in the area :)

My boyfriend and I came for dinner on a Friday evening. We sat out on the patio and it is so clever how they positioned the seats to look at the foliage. It was a little chilly & thankfully we sat near the heater. The cider was delicious & neither of us a huge cider fans. He ordered the Harvard Harvest & Jimmy the Coop. I ordered a Peach fest & Co-jito (not available on weekends). My favorite of the 4 drinks was the Harvard Harvest- it really tasted like fall. Next we ordered corn chowder & the Big Apple Pizza. The corn chowder was watered down: however, I really enjoyed the pizza. It's a perfect size for 2 if you're hungry & 3 if you want a snack. Toward the end of the night, we wanted to take home some donuts and cider with us. Thankfully they had leftover bags of donuts but we couldn't purchase cans of cider because that's only sold in the store. So the next time visit, I'll be going to the store before it closes.

I had the best cider I've ever tried today. Frank Carlson is a delightful gentleman and owner of this new (~4 weeks old?) cider making orchard. The new barn is a beautiful feature that is sure to be a popular wedding venue when Covid is over. There are all of the expected safeguards in place, employee masks, plexiglass, 6 foot spacing, open air spaces. The bathrooms are beautiful and clean too. The sinks have live edge wood counters. Unexpectedly nice!!!

The little restaurant was great. I really enjoyed the flight of hard ciders. The pizza was also totally delicious and a great choice. Had a lovely view of their orchards while eating.

Loved how beautiful this orchard was on a perfect fall day. It was wonderful for apple picking. They had a amazing selection of apples. There is the main house restaurant that we did not end up going to because there was a line from hell. But we were grateful when they had some food trucks on site so I got myself an amazing health salad with flank steak. Another major line was at the farm store for apple cider donuts but to be honest they want really infused with apple cider but they were yummy nonetheless. Nice family environment. I highly recommend...so much fun!

The brands have changed. The orchards are overgrown and covered in poison ivy with no landscaping to protect patrons, not even warnings. They no longer prepare ordered sandwiches fresh or pastries and soups. Instead just throw together a couple premade soggy sandwiches. Who makes a turkey and ham with a piece of lettuce sandwich and charges $8? I don't know if management changed, but the delightful and welcoming service is now void. I felt as if I was a bother and got the drift I wasn't at all welcomed with underlying tones of "ok get what you see and get out." I miss the kind ladies from 15-20 years ago who treated you like old friends. I had driven about 20 miles, excited to visit this old orchard I adored for years as a summer day escape to refresh. I left feeling heavily disappointed, turned away and realizing the age of kind service, pleasant and genuine "how do you do's" are a thing of the past. The sadness leaving was palpable. I really used to love this place. I could tell the staff just wanted to do the least and clock out. It left a very poor taste in my mouth. Dare I say a broken heart. The soul is gone. I ask that I don't receive a response from ownership because it will just hurt more.

Went with my husband and 10month old to pick some asian pears and honeycrisps. There was organized and ample parking. The main paths have large gravel rocks that were loose and uneven and a grass strip in the middle. It was a bit hard to push through even with our stroller with large wheels. The tractors that occasioned through blew the dust up around the paths too. There were plenty of porta potties and I also liked they have a hand washing station too. We didn't try any of the food trucks but appreciated the option. Farm stand was small, there were some picnic tables but could have been more (potentially near the food trucks) There were some chicks, bunnies, a goat, and donkey? to look at. The kids play area has a 2-5 & 5-12 play structures and water play but they were very close together, not much room to run around between the structures.

From what I could tell, there are larger orchards in the area but Shelburne seemed to have everything you need - a food truck (with an excellent burger and pulled pork sandwich), a hard cider place, the aforementioned apple cider donuts, and a little general store selling jams and whatnot. At first glance, there didn't appear to be a ton of seating but if you walk a bit further up the hill, past the grassy patch, there's a good amount of benches and tables. Apple cider donuts review: 4/5? Not as fresh or as warm as I've sampled at other orchards but these had a healthy dusting of cinnamon sugar and a great chew. Downing two of these bad boys was not a great decision for the ride back (plus I had a cheeseburger). Cheeseburger: 4.5/5. Just a bun, patty, cheese, ketchup but listen, this was one of the best cheeseburgers I've had in a while. The bun was perfectly buttered and toasted and there was just the right ratio of meat to bread to condiments. I felt really, really food-drugged after eating this and the donuts. All the burger needed was some pickles. The only thing I didn't love about the layout is the area with the food truck had only three or four tables (no chairs) and faced the row of Porta Potties but I get that space is at a premium. There was also a sizable hill to get from the food truck to the area with tables/benches/donuts, which made walking in cycling shoes an enormous pain, though that's a me-problem.

Stillman's CSA has TRANSFORMED the way I think about food and groceries!…read more I've always been a fresh produce and meat kind of girl (as my Cantonese background dictates), but I've never really given much thought as to where it all came from. To me, a tomato was a tomato - organic was just something they added to charge you another $3. I mean, I was eating a tomato, wasn't I? Little did I know... So this summer, I decided to take the plunge and add an element of locavore to my weekly shopping. I signed up for the Stillman's CSA by default, seeing as they were the only one I could find who delivered to Brookline. A couple of friends and I split a full share, and golly gosh are we glad we did! Every week, I line up at Clear FLour with the rest of Brookline to get my delivery of fresh mouth-watering local organically grown produce. Sure, sometimes it's not what I would buy (SO many beets the first few weeks!), but it's made me exercise my recipe chops. And a local tomato is definitely not just a tomato. Sweet and tangy, it puts those watery mealy things you get at the salad bar to complete shame. And, as it turns out, it's definitely NOT hard on the budget. $450/season (20 weeks) comes out to $7/person/week for a family (or group) of three, for more vegetables than you could possibly eat! I've taken to freezing things to keep for veggie reserves in the winter. Fresh corn chowder on a cold winter night? Yes please! They do meat too! I wish I had the type of budget to sustain (haha, get it?) a membership in the turkey farm CSA. Maybe when I get a promotion... Anyhow, I'm not quite ready to give up traveling produce - after all, my Chinese roots make demands that HAVE to be seen to, and the winter in Boston is long. Russo's to the rescue, I guess. But overall, Stillman's CSA has opened my eyes to supporting local producers while they do what they do best - putting the freshest tastiest seasonal produce on my table, just as it should be.

From Boston, it's a scenic drive out to Stow. I couldn't stop gushing over the foliage on the way there - I've turned into a total leaf peeper. Carver Hill is absolutely stunning in the fall, definitely worth a trip. Pleasantly surprised to find the lot half-empty when we arrived on the later side of a Saturday but then it filled up by the time we left around 3. To your right, as soon as you drive in, you'll see an area with pumpkins and the farm store - this is also where you get PYO fruit/veggies if you're paying with credit. If you have cash on hand, you can pay for a bag at the little stand right in front of the orchard. A peck (the smaller bag) was $25. I was a little skeptical at the size but it's a good deal if you really pack your apples in there. From there, the apple orchard. Not the biggest I've been to and the selection was understandably limited. We missed the sign to download the QR code for a map of the orchard and so had to rely on a photo of a thin pole with all the names/colors wrapped around it. Don't forget to stop at the store before you leave. I grabbed some pumpkin pie, jam, and an apple cider donut - they also have apple cider slushies and multiple flavors of ice cream. The donut was THE BEST, made fresh, almost falling apart, thick and generous coating of cinnamon and sugar (also tasted nutmeg and allspice in the coating). Absolutely worth waiting in the line for, but make sure to pay first and get a little yellow receipt/tag from the register before you get in line for the donuts.
