Beautiful, well-kept, dog-friendly orchard for happy apple-picking! Fuss-free apple-picking at its best - rows on rows of neatly planted trees, chock-full of ripe Jonasgold, Macoun, McIntosh, Golden Delicious, Fuji, Gala (early October 2016). Orchard is well-marked with tree trunks color-coded by varietals and color key posts throughout the grounds. Key also provides best season for each varietal. Handpicking pricing is very fair at $16/peck (10-12 lbs) and $25/bushel (40 lbs). Pre-picked apples are available as well. Staff is very friendly and helpful, knowledgeable and able to provide recommendations based on which varietals you typically enjoy. Orchard allows dogs on leashes. Highly recommend for a peaceful applepicking experience - throughly enjoyed!

My go to orchard lots of different apples to pick and it's huge! I spent the whole day here just picking and eating apples. They also have apple cigar and pies I believe you can purchase

A quart full of blueberries and a tummy full of them too. The rope is for hanging around your neck so you can use both hands to pick!

Giant blueberries (and some raspberries)! I came here over the summer in July with my friends to pick some blueberries, maybe just before more raspberries were ready but we did see a few that we were able to quickly pop in our mouths. Not to mention the handfuls of blueberries that were also "taste tested". Unlike some orchards that have a large production with other activities and farm animals, this is a simple stand where you can pick up a container and start picking! $5.50 for a quart of blueberries in a bucket around your neck! Can't go wrong with the price. I had so much fun scouring the blueberry bushes for the largest and most delicious looking blueberries while sampling so many along the way. We came after a shower the previous night so all of the bushes were a bit wet. On second thought I'd prefer the slight overcast to beating hot summer sun, since it led to poorer choices on my part for tart berries. I'm looking forward to coming back again for future years as an annual tradition.

This orchard was FANTASTIC. Just what we were looking for - beautiful grounds, lots of yummy apples, pumpkins available at the farm stand, and zero crazy crowds or drama or waiting in line. After trying twice to get into another local orchard, it was a godsend. We also loved playing on their tractors! A fab experience all around.

I really enjoyed my trip to Doe Orchards this weekend. We came right when they opened and there wasn't a crowd. All the trees on the orchard were within walking distance/no need for hay ride. We came for honey crisps and I was really surprised to find they had a lot. Not only did they have a good amount of trees, but some of the trees were still filled. It didn't take us long to fill up our 1/2 bushel bag! We had to walk around to find the different rows of trees, but that wasn't a problem. Pros: - Clearly labelled trees, easy to find everything - Orchard was well kept and clean, not cluttered with fallen apples - Reasonable pricing, 1 peck = $17 or 1/2 bushel = ~20lbs for $29. No entrance fee - Super nice and helpful staff!! Cons: None Apples were abundant, staff was friendly, definitely worth a visit!

Great place for apple picking. I have gone the past few years and it's not as crowded and crazy as other places in the area. They also have a ton of apples. There are no ladders on the trees but they are easy to climb. They also sell Christmas trees November - December. You can cutdown you own.

I came here with a group of friends to go apple picking. There was plenty of parking and a pretty large area of land to pick apples from; also, this orchard is dog-friendly! At the front there's a stand where you can buy already picked apples by the bag ($9 for a smaller bag that probably has 15-20 apples in it). At the entrance, you can pick the bag you want to fill ($16 for a smaller bag, $26 for a larger bag 1/2 bushel). My friend and I split a $16 bag and ultimately ended up with about 30 apples! The staff are all really nice and there was a wide variety of different apples to pick. They even have a tool that you can use to pick apples high up in the tree (kind of looks like a plunger...) I think my friends and I came during a bad time in the season because many of the apples we saw were relatively small. Overall, very positive experience and felt that I got a lot of apples for what I paid. My only gripe is that they don't sell cider donuts so we ended up driving 8 min to Carlson Farms.

    Blueberries from Doe Orchards

My face is sticky. So are my fingers. I may have just moaned. No, this is not x-rated, this is a locally grown peach from Doe Orchards. They are that good, that juicy, that sweet, that amazing... that I was inspired to make peach preserves to keep some of that goodness near me all year round. This place is DEFINITELY worth the trip out there to pick up a container of peaches (5 peaches are less than $5and worth every penny), or Pick Your Own Blueberries while they last at $4.75 per quart. Blueberries are the supermarket are like $4.00 per PINT, and how many pints are in a quart, kiddies? That's right, 2 pints are in every quart. For a little effort, you get an AMAZING product at a good price (almost 100% more for the same money!). And they don't use pesticides on the berries, they use nets. I'm not sure about the peaches. Last time I was here, I saw Mr. Doe himself. He is very old. He picked up a container of large peaches and took it home. I think even if he didn't have any teeth, he would be able to eat these peaches, because they are so tender and juicy. I wanted to go shake his hand and commend his fine fruits, but I was too busy stuffing my face with blueberries while i was "picking." If you don't have a car, rent one and go here. I haven't yet tried the apples or cut my own tree, but if the fruit is anything to go by, the fall and winter products must be incredible. Yum.

    Awesome apples!

Amazing orchard, fair prices and so so so many apples! Staff is super friendly and the trees are all very well marked in which type of apples you are looking for. Also there were still some peaches available, which was a great treat. The Pick Your Own Christmas tree area looked very great as well, obviously too early for that but really nice area. Definitely a place to check out/return to! **They did get hit with a hail storm this year that did damage some of the trees, and you have to look for good apples on some of the trees, but it is still so so worth it.**

The smallest bag (1/2 peck?) was $7.50, and that got us 23 small-to-upper-medium-sized Macouns, Macs, Golden Delicious, and Gala apples. Trees and rows that were ready for picking were clearly marked with staked signs marking the fruit trees' species, and the egress portions of the orchard was accessible to folks using a variety of assistive/adaptive devices (wheelchairs, crutches, canes, walkers, et cetera). The hayride was a lovely and fun touch. There were perhaps forty to fifty people of all ages picking apples at the same time we were picking, but the orchard is so sizable, it did not feel cramped or crowded, and there was ample fruit for all of us and then some. As we were leaving, I noticed a white peach tree still in fruit, and I asked if I could buy some peaches. The owner said yes, and she picked them right off the branch and sold them to us. Oh, yes, I had fresh white peaches that night. They, like the apples, were flavorful and I felt incredibly lucky to have timed our visit just right. They had the first of the pumpkins for the year, too. Definitely put me in the mood for the season! Best of all, I wasn't sure how they did pest control, but I was very pleased to come home and read on their website that they do IPM (integrated pest management), rather than rely on conventional commercial methods. We'll definitely be back to this gorgeous orchard full of passionate farmers!

From Boston, it's a scenic drive out to Stow. I couldn't stop gushing over the foliage on the way there - I've turned into a total leaf peeper. Carver Hill is absolutely stunning in the fall, definitely worth a trip. Pleasantly surprised to find the lot half-empty when we arrived on the later side of a Saturday but then it filled up by the time we left around 3. To your right, as soon as you drive in, you'll see an area with pumpkins and the farm store - this is also where you get PYO fruit/veggies if you're paying with credit. If you have cash on hand, you can pay for a bag at the little stand right in front of the orchard. A peck (the smaller bag) was $25. I was a little skeptical at the size but it's a good deal if you really pack your apples in there. From there, the apple orchard. Not the biggest I've been to and the selection was understandably limited. We missed the sign to download the QR code for a map of the orchard and so had to rely on a photo of a thin pole with all the names/colors wrapped around it. Don't forget to stop at the store before you leave. I grabbed some pumpkin pie, jam, and an apple cider donut - they also have apple cider slushies and multiple flavors of ice cream. The donut was THE BEST, made fresh, almost falling apart, thick and generous coating of cinnamon and sugar (also tasted nutmeg and allspice in the coating). Absolutely worth waiting in the line for, but make sure to pay first and get a little yellow receipt/tag from the register before you get in line for the donuts.

There were many families out doing the same but because everyone is courteous and follows etiquette of passing and staying on the right or left, it remained quite enjoyable. The trail itself is a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The locals are friendly, and the trail itself is flat and well maintained. Yet much of the landscape remains untouched and there is plenty of wildlife (great for bird watching), plants (native, non-native, and unfortunately invasives too), and interesting rock formations to observe. I like to take advantage of the tranquility offered only by nature (the sound of the streams, melodic bird songs, the stillness, and even the smell of the great outdoors). We also stopped by the little ice cream shop in Pepperrell which was a lovely break and a bit of a reward for all the excercise we all got. The only downside, as someone who is highly allergic to insect bites, is the highly aggressive mosquitoes. But just make sure you wear plenty of bugspray and bring enough to reapply. Also don't forget your hat and sunscreen!
