Solely because of the honey glazed donut does this place get 5 stars. The other donuts were also great but that honey glazed..... coffee is a big skip.

Big cake donuts ! They have a few gluten free and vegan options which is lovely. Staff was friendly and would go back.

Gluten free donuts! In a million flavors?! Yes please! Thank you for not forcing gluten free folks to have yet another basic chocolate donut. I went on a donut spree here! Was so glad to catch them at fall flavor time. Honestly, If I could ship these to our house, I would. Like in a heartbeat. They are to actually die for! Maple Bacon, Apple Cider, Cinnamon sugar, jelly filled, cookies and cream, and more! You name it, I tried it! My husband got his own not gluten free donuts and was also very much so in heaven. The bottom line is the do donuts WELL!

We had to stop at Kane's during our Boston trip. I had a difficult time deciding which gluten free donuts to get but all of the ones I picked were delicious! My husband also got a variety of their regular donuts which he also enjoyed! I definitely recommend checking them out!

Definitely some of the best donuts I've ever had! I've been to all of their locations, but have been going to the downtown Boston location most recently as it's close to my work. The donuts are ginormous and there's so many yummy flavors to choose from. I am partial to their glazed, raised chocolate frosted, maine blueberry, and apple fritter. I had a strawberry frosted a week or so ago and it's the only one I've been disappointed with - there wasn't enough frosting or enough flavor to the frosting. I would normally deduct a star, BUT - my boyfriend is gluten free and he LOVES the variety that he can get at Kane's. He was almost weepy as he bit into a donut and said "I haven't had a jelly donut in 12 years...!". So, thank you for that! Now, he buys 5-6 donuts at a time because he lives far out of the city. I doubt he shares. ha! Keep up the good work!

If I could give a million stars to Kane's Donuts, I would. WOWZA! KD was on my must-visit list while I was in Boston and I'm so glad I got a chance to go...twice. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The shop wasn't crazy busy either time my group went, but it was early in the morning.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] All the donuts on display look delicious and there's so many to choose from-- they also have cinnamon rolls bigger than your head. More importantly, they have tiers of several gluten-free donut flavors, and I was in paradise. I got a few different ones like apple cider, pumpkin, etc. but the masterpiece was their jelly donut. Oh. My. Goodness. Hands down, best gluten-free donut EVER, but also the best jelly one I've ever had. KD is an absolute must for donut lovers and I'm still dreaming about that jelly donut even now.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a cute place, but the atmosphere wasn't super welcoming. Felt a little too industrial for a donut shop in my opinion.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were super nice and welcoming though! I tried a couple of the gluten-free options -- the lemon poppyseed was absolutely delicious with a bright, citrusy flavor and great texture. Unfortunately, the maple bacon donut was a bit stale, which was a letdown since I had high hopes for it. That said, I really appreciate the variety they offer, especially for gluten-free options. Overall, it's a great little spot for a donut fix, and I'd definitely go back to try other flavors. Just maybe stick to the lemon if you're going gluten-free!

So simple and delicious! I came by Kane's on an early Saturday morning while walking through downtown and I was able to try a couple of their donuts. They have a good mix of classic and more unique flavors on their menu, and they've always got rotating specialty flavors to try if that's your thing. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was so early the shop wasn't busy but I'm sure it gets packed after 9am.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff here are efficient and are always happy to give flavor recommendations. My favorite was the Maine blueberry donut, it was fragrant and soft and I want to eat another even though I'm typically not a cake donut person. The other donut I got was a chocolate raised. I thought this one was great, the raised dough was airy but still had some substance to it while the chocolate frosting didn't taste fake or like a fancy chocolate which is exactly what I prefer. The donuts are also massive! They are on the pricier side but the quality and quantity make it worth it.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The building is under construction (Sep 2025) but the entrance is well marked.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We each had a cruller which was huge, but light and airy. Delicious. Fairly standard black coffee. Friendly service.

I've been following online for years and I finally got to have some GF donuts!! There was no wait and we were able to pick out our donuts and be on our way in a minute. The gluten free donuts are stored separately. They are huge! And they are super soft. You wouldn't even know they were gluten free just by looking at them or the taste. We got the apple cider, glazed, chocolate frosted, and cinnamon. Yum yum yum!

This spot was rated top 10 in the country for donuts. Theirs are mostly all yeast-raised rings in a wide variety of creative and standard flavors. If you like a standard glazed, try their highly ranked Honey Dip. I also love their use of real strawberries in the strawberry frosted one. The owners are very friendly and proud of their family-run shop that has been running for over 70 years.

We were in Boston and stopped in to check out the donuts here. The service was fast and friendly and the donuts were all displayed nicely. We decided on a blueberry butternut, a raspberry, and a coconut donut. They were in my opinion a little pricey, but it is Boston. All of the donuts were good, but nothing amazing. I'd say in taste they compare with Dunkin, which was a little disappointing. Still. If we were in the area again we would probably stop by.

Kane's has one of my favorite donuts in Boston - especially their honey dipped donut. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The downtown Boston location is small and tucked away, but the service is really fast.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Ask the Community - Kane's Donuts - Downtown

Do they take cards, or do they only take cash?

Yes we take all forms of legal tender

Do the donuts contain nuts (tree nut allergy)? I tried calling but the phone number isn't in service- how unprofessional

Most of their donuts do not visible nut however maybe 10% do have nuts. Some of the donuts have peanut butter so this may not be the place to go for you. I think, but not sure, they have walnuts on them. It’s best to go to Kane’s and ask them…

Are there any Vegan donut available?

Sadly, no. They have dairy free and gluten free, but the gluten free contains egg whites.

    Is there any inside seating?

    Yes. Limited cafe tables.

On the second day, I ordered takeout again: an almond croissant, a rocket pop pain suisse, and the crème brûlée kouign-amann once more. Anne was polite, super friendly, and very helpful with menu recommendations. On the first day when I ordered takeout, Anne even kept the pastries chilled for me because I couldn't walk around the area carrying them in the intense heat without them spoiling before I reached the hotel. Upon walking in the shop I was greeted by several staff (in a graceful, friendly, not over the top way) which is lovely for a morning vibe where I'm still yet to get my caffeine fix. Just the right amount of love and jolly. I sat outside by the park/plaza to enjoy a nice morning with my coffee and this pastry. Excellent addition to the neighborhood!

Very solid burrito. The Spanish burrito I tried another day--which came with vegan meatballs of some sort--was even better. Second visit: I got an açai bowl ($9 for the small size; $12 for regular), and added vegan protein powder ($2) blended in. It came with açai blended with almond milk, banana, strawberries, blueberries, and granola. Real good and plentiful even for the small size. Third visit: just ordered a bagel with vegan cream cheese that had tomato in it, and added some spinach on top ($5.50 total). Very generous spinach portion (for $0.50!), well-toasted bagel, and an appropriate amount of cream cheese. Very tasty. Moreover, each time I visited, I ordered a double espresso ($3.50), which was excellent. Proper espresso, deep body, strong, served with sparkling water and a piece of dark chocolate.
