Service very welcoming. Ambiance makes you feel like you're in Italy! Food was very tasty and large portion sizes. I got the bolognese with angel hair pasta. Was very good. If you're looking for parking the area is a bit tight but there is a parking garage near by where you can park and walk it's a short 3 minute walk.

Nice spot in the north end. There are fancier places but this place tastes good and is warm and friendly. Our group enjoyed it. Large portions Started with large House Salad - Spring mix of baby greens, tomato and onio We had these dishes. Amatriciana - A mixture of pancetta (Italian bacon), onion, pecorino romano cheese, red wine and tomato sauce. Another had the seasonal Pumpkin Ravioli - Finished with a butter sage sauce, honey, brown sugar and sprinkled Romano Cheese And the Chicken Milanese - Boneless breast tender lightly dipped in egg batter, pan-fried and sautéed in white wine lemon butter sauce. The egg batter was very good and very, very fluffy. Chicken was very tender. It was over fettuccine but you can pick whatever kind of pasta you want. Fettuccine is very hard to twirl so I think next time I wouldn't order the fettuccine and just get spaghetti or something else, but it still tasted good. We all had leftovers. I ate my chicken dish over two lunches.

Wow! Staff was friendly, and the ambiance was cute and quaint! As we walked to Al dente, I noticed a few restaurants around it were open but weren't busy, complete opposite of Al dente... that told me we picked a good one! We ordered calamari to start... that was delicious, the tentacles weren't chewy and had a good amount of breading/ coating on them! we ordered the lobster ravioli, veal saltimbocca, vodka penne pasta and Alfredo. All of the dishes were huge and delicious (I would tackle this as family style or split it with someone next time). I would easily come back!

Recently came back and had a great meal. Had a Friday night reservation and was seated right away. The drinks and food came out so quickly. Would still highly recommend the lobster ravioli!

The North End is always such a stunner for Italian food! Came here with friends and family a few times - ordered eggplant parm, chicken parm, pesto pasta, calamari, etc - all has been great! Only tip -- get a reservation, but try not to go too early in the day. I found that when I swung by during lunch instead of dinner, the tomato sauce was a bit on the thinner/waterier side. Dinner's tomato sauce was thicker and extra flavorful - might take some time for the sauce to reduce!!

Absolutely amazing experience! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt warm and cozy. The food was incredible -- fresh ingredients, perfectly cooked pasta, and rich, flavorful sauces that tasted homemade. services were great. I will go back again.

Posted search bar and result for happy hour specials. Four other listed restaurants do have meals specials at 4pm.

This restaurant is listed as having happy hour special or early bird specials. I retained photos to post. Two lady servers were seated. The one who greeted me at the door, to whom I asked if they had specials, was polite. The seated ladies were rude and harshly told me they didn't offer specials as if I were asking for a handout.

I was in town looking for a cosy (not white table cloths), family Italian restaurant and this hit the nail on the head. I had the eggplant parmesan at the recommendation of our server and it was out of this world flavorful. Best part was that all of our portions were giant--enough for leftovers the next day!

This is a small cute Italian restaurant! We got the grilled calamari and it was super fresh and delicious! I got the lobster ravioli and my dad got the veal Valdostana, which we both really liked! The food came out fast and the portions were large. Waiter was nice and attentive. This was an authentic Italian restaurant!

The servers were very nice. It's a cozy restaurants, one of the smaller ones in the north end. The pasta sizes are pretty big and perfect for leftovers. They have gf penne and gnocchi options which is always exciting!

Don't let the small atmosphere fool ya. This is the real deal Italian food. Scallops and shrimp pasta with lentil soup amazing.

Al dente is a cozy but lively restaurant in the north end with very personable servers/staff that makes you feel like you're in Italy! I found the pesto fettuccine was flavorful and delicious but hard to eat much as it was rather heavy and oily - but on the bright side I had lots of leftovers. The menu has lots of different combination options and is averaged price for Italian in the north end. Would go back again and try something new!

Ask the Community - Al Dente Restaurant

Are they offering outdoor dining at all i know its a small street and area but figured id ask?

Yes! We were there July 31st and outdoor dining was an option at that time. Enjoy!

For the catering menu, how much does the half size feed and how much does the full size feed?

The half size feeds half of the full size

Was it noisy? Was it easy to have a conversation without having to yell?

It is a very small place. So tho not necessarily noisy others can hear your conversation. Food is excellent!

    Is there valet parking?

Parking garages but they aren't close. Quite a ways away actually. Better option is to take a taxi or ride share to the restaurant if need be. Or public transport.

Drinks were just as fun vegan eggnog plus a pistachio latte (don't question it, just order it) and a pink non-alcoholic situation that tasted like brunch decided to dress up. Now let's address the elephant sitting at the table with no water: the service. Everyone complaining? They're not wrong. It's slow. Like... "you start reconsidering your life choices while waiting for a bottle of water so you can serve yourself" slow. And yes, management should absolutely just lean into reality and overstaff the place. It would solve everything. BUT and this is important, if you walk in knowing that, you're fine. The staff, when they get to you, are genuinely kind and friendly. It's not bad service, it's just... delayed service. Also, if you've got green hair and are confidently pulling off a look that says "I am both the main character and the plot twist," you will feel right at home here. I don't fully understand it, but I respect the commitment. Just thought people should know going in, just like the delayed service. Bottom line: incredible food, good vibes, patience required. I'll absolutely be back... and I might bring my own water bottle next time just to stay ahead of things.

I said salmon eggs Benedict and pointed at it. I can't do starch like French fries and she offered a fruit bowl. Then comes back and said there is additional charge for that. I said no thanks. Penny pinching by a restaurant is not classy. The food comes out and I noticed my order was wrong. The manager comes and asked me what I asked for. I said I pointed at the menu and said salmon eggs Benedict. She began arguing with me. Asking, did you ask for eggs Benedict with salmon or salmon eggs Benedict implying I was asking for salmon on the side. Seriously....get a clue. Cold food and poor service, and food coming out at different times is lousy. To top it off, because my food was slow to come out, a couple came in and pointed at our table requesting it even tho I had booked the table. Simply unbelievable to be kicked off the table after receiving the food so late and the wrong order. If the manager hadn't insisted I asked for eggs Benedict with salmon, and not the salmon eggs Benedict I would have let it slide. But nah... really poor service.

I've eaten in the outside area a few times, but I usually pick it up and take it back to my apartment. I think in a pinch you could eat outside, but inside is honestly way too tight because it does tend to get crowded. That brings me to my next point, I strongly recommend ordering online. The spinach tortellini with the pesto cream sauce is my absolute favorite- it's a HUGE portion and so delicious. It usually lasts me at least 2 meals. The bread they include is also great! I like to dip it in the sauce. The past time I got Dino's I accidentally ordered spinach ravioli instead of tortellini...that was my bad. HOWEVER I think I might have found my new favorite? The raviolis are huge and so fat. I'm talking like 1/2 inch - 3/4 inch thick. There is so much stuffing and the spinach ricotta mix tastes so fresh and delicious...it's a must try. I've also gotten the eggplant parm before, and the fettuccini Alfredo. Both were also delicious. I've never had any of the sandwiches, but if they are anything like their pastas then I'm sure they are great! The bang for your buck here is also great which is nice. Highly recommend! Salmon topped with caviar and chives, citron crema, and dill oil. I expected a blend of citron and dill, citrus and herbal aromas, and a delightful contrast between the rich plump salmon and the slightly crunchy caviar, but the overwhelming saltiness ruined everything. To me, it was like the cook spilled the salt shaker, but the restaurant seemed to claim this was normal saltiness? Unbelievable. Casarecce: 5/5 stars! Gorgonzola Dolce cheese gave the sauce a creamy, smooth texture, while its rich creaminess was balanced by the slightly bitterness of the broccoli rabe and the mild sweetness of roasted squash. The squash was diced and only lightly roasted, its crispness contrasting with the softness and tenderness of the broccoli rabe. The Casarecce was firm and chewy, perfect for pairing with the rich sauce. Everything was exquisite and delicate, just right. The delightful surprise was how the cook cleverly preserved and utilized the bitterness of the raw vegetables. The ambiance was average, and the seating was rather cramped. The server was incredibly knowledgeable about their dishes, even able to recite the ingredients.
