Chicken Supreme

We came here to celebrate our anniversary, and I still find myself thinking about coming back! We happened to arrive around the time they were opening up the rooftop by removing the umbrella covering, which was an experience in itself. Between the historic location, incredible views, good drinks, great music, and waiters dressed like they just stepped off a runway, the entire place has such a classy, upscale feel. It really gives you that quintessential LA experience! And the food? Amazing. Everything came together to make the evening feel special, and I can honestly say this is a place I'd love to return to! Definitely one to revisit!

My service was outstanding! Eric has been very helpful and kind! The atmosphere is perfect for a date night, birthday etc. I came here for wine because I needed to sip something sophisticated and I came here to try and I love the house blend! It met my expectations !

Two charcuterie plates for four people not smaller also loved it. One of the salami's was better than the other one.

We had a great time at Perch! We all ordered the four-course prix fixe, and it's a great value. You get an appetizer, a salad or another course, a main, and a delicious dessert. Between us, we had two orders of the short rib, one fish, and one chicken. My only real criticism was the seasoning. It feels strange to say about beef bourguignon, but I thought it lacked a bit of flavor, and we found ourselves reaching for the salt across all the dishes. The coleslaw that came with the cheese was to die for . Weirdly my favorite dish. And it's really just a garnish, but I loved it The desserts were phenomenal, and the drinks were very good too. The waitstaff was wonderful. They seemed busy, so clearing between courses was a little slow, but everyone was warm and welcoming. Overall, we had a lovely evening, and I highly recommend it. We had a reservation, and I'd recommend making one!

My wife and I were celebrating our 3rd wedding anniversary and Perch was the place we agreed on. We ate at Mrs.Fish last year and loved it so it made sense to come back to the same spot to check our the cool looking restaurant on the roof. You enter this place through a lobby, take an elevator, take another elevator, and then come out into one of the coolest looking places in downtown. The restaurant itself has indoor seating (including a bar if I'm not mistaken) as well as seats outside with an amazing view of the city. Our waiter for the night was super pleasant and so was the people refilling waters and cleaning the tables off. We both ended up doing the set menu option which gives you something to share, an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert which seemed like a solid enough deal to try. Here's what I consumed. Perch Fromage & Charcuterie- This was fine. I ate the meat and my wife at the rest since she's vegetarian. Pork Belly- Small but super tasty piece of pork belly, great flavour. White Chocolate Bread Pudding- It was my first time eating this dish period and it was pretty dang good. Steak & Frites- One of my favourite dishes done very right. The steak itself was cooked medium rare and was so freaking good I could drool just thinking about it. The best part of the dish wasn't even the steak, it was the frites. The french fries were drenched in the most delicious garlic sauce I think I've ever had. Insanely good. Chocolate Pot de Crème- Ate half of this and enjoyed it. It was like a mix of fudge and chocolate brownie.....or something like that. Overall, Perch has absolutely become one of my favourite places to go downtown. The staff here were super friendly, the views and restaurant itself were wonderful, and the food was delicious. I can't wait to take friends and family here when they visit!

Perch LA is a true gem. Fantastic views good food and of course great service. Since it's in DTLA parking of course would be an issue so do plan on Valet Today was a simple brunch and as we are not really alcohol drinkers, our pairing was with Saratoga Sparkling water. Which actually is my fave I know it's not mineral water but it's still very refreshing Did a quick Sunday brunch and surprisingly there were several good choices Like the vibe here and of course the view ( did I mention that already?)

Been to perch several times and I've always had a good time. The steak frites has always been my favorite and hits the spot each time. The filet mignon is cooked right and the fries with the truffle sauce are very good. The bacon and mac n cheese is really good and has the right amount of cheese. The ribeye is good too but I'd rather get the steak frites. The burgers at perch are pretty hefty in size and are packed with flavor. The ambience here is really nice as it's a rooftop restaurant on the 15th floor as they also have a rooftop bar on the 16th floor. I've been here during the day and night, but the night usually tends to be better. The overall view of DTLA and overseeing Pershing square is cool to have when dining. Getting reservations here is relatively easy and I'm glad they're open late (1:30 AM on some days). Service here is good. Definitely worth visiting. I usually just park at the Pershing square lot as it's just a walk across the street from the restaurant.

Had a nice brunch here today. The patio is great with wonderful views.. actually got a good table for once! Thinks we're starting off great! The food falls into the "just fine" category. Nothing offensive , nothing great . Could also be what we ordered l, but I have a feeling it's the case for this place. You're here for the view. We had baked Brie (pass) Shrimp cocktail (4 large shrimp served with mignonette and cocktail sauce) - the best dish we had. Ice cold shrimp. What's not to like. Ceviche (hard pass) Cheese fries (pass) /ask for regular fries. They are prolly better than the weird congealed cheese in too Cheese board (pass)- some of the cheese was hard as a rock. Nothing special (pass) Service was almost nonexistent. Our server disappeared to never been seen again after taking our order. Would be back for the view. Just don't hold your breath for great food

Chicken, broccolini, risotto
Niya B.

The pros: The ambiance of this place was perfect. We had dinner with beautiful rooftop views, intimate lighting, and an upscale feel. They even had a band playing live with a wonderful singer. The cons: The food was mediocre at best, especially for the price. The truffle fries were lukewarm and soggy. The braised short rib was grossly unflavored. The chicken had good flavor but not a lick of salt. The broccolini was also not enjoyable. I barely ate my food, and it was not worth taking home. Also, I put in the reservation that it was my friend's birthday. We asked to split the check which she didn't. Then I had to track down the server to have her send over the birthday treat. This place has a lot of potential, especially for a date night. However, the food has a lot of room for improvement.

Tuna tartare - delicious!

We've been here many times for dinner and always loved it, so we decided to come for Sunday brunch and were quite disappointed. It's been a minute since we've come all the way down to DTLA to eat so hopefully our experience is just indicative of the brunch and not the overall food. Food - mediocre at best. We started with a bellini, coffee, and the ahi tower which were all very good, but after that it went south. My husband ordered the bacon and cheese omelette which hardly had any cheese in it. The potatoes, although they looked crispy, were soggy on both of our dishes. My husband also found a hair in his and we debated sending it back but ultimately decided we didn't want to wait for them to make a new one so he just pulled it out and we did our best to pretend he hadn't found one. I had the salmon benedict. The english muffin was so hard, I eventually asked the woman who was refilling the water to bring me a steak knife (the server hadn't come back to check on us for quite a while). She did, and even then, I still had trouble cutting through it. I've literally never had an english muffin that hard and chewy before. There was a nice amount of salmon though and the eggs were cooked the way they should be. Service was okay. Like I said, it would've been nice if the server would've come back to check on us a few minutes after we tried our food instead of half way through when I'd already asked someone else for a knife. The menu itself is pretty uninspired-- especially for a restuarant of this caliber. The brunch menu has basic items and they bring nothing unique or special to them. We've had much better versions of omelettes and eggs benedict from restaurants that are half the price. All in all, we spent $115 for a coffee, a bellini, ahi tower, and two entrees plus tax and tip. When you factor in the $20 valet fee, I think it's fair to expect more than what we received. As usual, the view and ambiance was great. Like I said, we've consistently had a good experience at dinner at Perch, but we definitely will never go back for brunch.

l've been wanting to try this restaurant for awhile. We finally got in and I think it was worth it. The service was great and the food was amazing. We had the preset menu. The starters especially the Pork Belly and the baked Brie were super yummy. My short rib was absolutely melt in your mouth. The sea bass was also a winner. We had the White Chocolate Bread Pudding and the Chocolate Pot de Crème. Both were delicious. I am usually do not like to eat outside because l am a clean freak and don't like bugs sharing my food. However, I was pleasantly surprised at how lovely it was up on the roof. No bugs in sight. My only one suggestion is that a purse hanger or stool would be nice. Thank you.

The decor is old world , sea shanty style. It has a nice roof top section that allows you to downtown from the 15th floor. It's a nice view. Parking was a bit of a problem so I took advantage of the valet service. 17.50. For valet. I ordered the Chilean sea bass. It came out on a bed of mushroom risotto. This meal was awesome. My friends said what they had was good but I forgot what they ordered. Service was excellent as well.

This might be one of the best rooftop experiences I have had in my life. I appreciated the whole vibe from the old Gatsby-esque elevator situation to the food. We had suitcases which were handily stored for us in a closet at the elevator transfer station (amazing). Food was 10/10 I got the french onion soup and the boneless spare rib. Spare ribs melted in my mouth and fell apart with the touch of a fork. French onion soup was solid. Wish I had stayed longer on the top floor for more drinks, but I will be back.

For over a decade I've always relied on Perch as my go to spot in downtown between this and the Biltmore hotel Pershing Square is a great place for a leisurely romantic themed hang. This restaurant has two different cultures daytime brunch in the sky and nighttime date night. It's a great blend of architecture atmosphere for this high volume. High energy exciting space. The great servers are well trained at high volume so are the hostesses and hosts who see you and know the lay of the land. Their is a no-bs attitude to the host stand which is not as welcoming as one would like especially on a date night. Perch is notorious for being backed up due to their 'elevator sitch' so just know that the reservation time you have made and the time you are called to be seated can be upwards of 45 minutes later. But the rooftop and bar area are perfectly positioned for those who are waiting. The lower energy bartending staff seems very over-it but I blame the sadly-entitled clientele for this! However, The food we had made up for all of this though and was truly wonderfully made. The charcuterie was one of the largest in the entire city. The salad with salmon was perfect to split, and our awesome server was able to do so between two plates. I loved the Chicken Supreme. And our beautiful sorbet Treo to accompany it. This is a great date night place however think early think Sunset if you would like a more European urban vibe because as the sunsets this place becomes very very different. The patron go from sipping champagne in the early afternoon to downright loud and very trashed at night many patrons loudly. The trending but the very unaware habit of loudly FaceTiming one's friend for the duration of their meal with no regard whatsoever for any other diner, will sadly be unchecked. Also, as it gets even later, the client tell switch is entirely to what can know cannot be any better described than as 'ratchet'. Perch loses it luster, and it becomes a holding pen for cat fights, and potential nighttime brawls but if you're celebrating an anniversary through it in the early. And a larger baby shower should ONLY be during the brunch hours of the beautiful daytime. Thank you to all that do make Perch wonderful we have and will continue to go to your beautiful space. We will and have continued to recommend (and still warn) people about this place for a decade. The great parts of Perch are still very much what makes DTLA a great experience in the sky. Please Stay Safe & Thank You!

We loved the rum so much that we ended up buying a bottle, which also granted us Level 1 membership, so this definitely won't be our only visit. Such a fun choice for a birthday celebration, date night, or a night out with friends when you want something completely different from the usual bar experience. We're already looking forward to going back and seeing what our new membership unlocks.

I felt a bit conflicted on how to rate my experience at Ka'teen. I came here on a date night with…read moremy husband and had a mixed experience. We had the earliest reservation available at 5:30 PM. When we arrived, we had to join a line outside in the rain as the restaurant was a few minutes late to opening. While it wasn't a huge deal, it's not something I've experienced before. Shortly after, we were let into the outdoor restaurant through a beautiful thatch tunnel. The aesthetic is stunning. There is a lot of lush greenery and beautiful woven lantern lights, complemented by chill, ambient house music playing throughout. Unfortunately, we were seated very close to a speaker, so the volume was way too loud and made it a bit hard to hear--less than ideal for a date night, though I understand and appreciate the vision. The restaurant also burns incense that fills the air, which I believe was Palo Santo. I personally love that scent, so it was enjoyable for me, but it's something to be mindful of if you are sensitive to smoke or fragrances. Since this restaurant is attached to a hotel, the crowd vibe is a bit odd. Some people, like my husband and me, were dressed nicely for a date night or birthday celebration, while others were literally wearing sweats, flip-flops, and baseball caps. I know the restaurant is catering to hotel guests, but I do wish there was at least a minimal dress code to align with the gorgeous aesthetic and the steep cost of the meal. All of the staff we interacted with were incredibly kind! Our server was wonderful. He was genuinely so nice, and we really appreciated this part of our visit a lot. We ordered quite a bit of food, so we got to taste a lot of the menu. My husband had a Mezcalita de Yucatán to start, and for food, we ordered the blood orange aguachile, the potato taquitos, the cochinita pibil, the oxtail frites, the corn esquite, and the frijoles de la olla. As the sun goes down, the restaurant uses ambient lighting. While I usually like this, one major flaw is that there is so little light that we couldn't see what we were eating by the time our main courses came. Part of the experience of dining is the visual, and we genuinely were unable to see our plates. I don't personally drink mezcal, but my husband enjoyed his cocktail and said it was light and refreshing. The blue prawn and blood orange aguachile featured a delicious, vibrantly tart crimson sauce with a great chili kick, but the prawns themselves were disappointingly mushy and stringy rather than snap-tender. Unfortunately, the dish was held back further by being served with only two very dry, sub-par tostadas. The potato taquitos were exactly as expected; you can't really mess up a dish that is fried and filled with potatoes. The flavor profile of the oxtail sauce was fantastic and the small amount of meat available was incredibly tasty, but the dish suffered from structural flaws. The oxtail itself was disappointingly skimpy on meat. This was okay since my husband and I shared both of the mains, but for the price point, the portion of meat should be more generous. Also, because the Yucatán frites were served directly in the heavy sauce, they quickly became soggy, developing a starchy and slightly slimy texture rather than a crisp bite. The cochinita pibil was yummy, and the pork pulled apart beautifully alongside the excellent fresh tortillas. As for the sides, the frijoles were solid but unremarkable, and while the esquites tasted good, they were a tad too soupy in consistency. While the kitchen clearly understands flavor profiles, the technical execution across all dishes was flawed. Worse still, unfortunately, we ended up with food poisoning after eating here. I cannot say for certain which dish caused it since we ordered an array of things on the menu, but it was a huge bummer, and I would definitely be hesitant to recommend Ka'teen consequently.

This was the last stop in a night where Conrad and I stepped out to LA to have a good time. So by…read morethe time I got there I was tipsy. I was not falling down the stairs, nor was I slurring my words, nor was I misaligning my pool shots, but I was definetely feeling the good inside my blood. I note this, not to highlight my cool factor as if I was a frat bro in a Florida party school, but more to describe how my experience was fogged by my consumption. This place was definetely a hot spot to hit, but I just will not be able to descrbie everything with speicifc detail, more, broad strokes of a good time. The place is reached by going down a flight of stairs, which feels like one is going to catch the J line in New York. I think I felt this more because of the Spring St sign- a famous stop in NY, NY. As soon, I got there, the goal was to continue the good time and this place allowed that at a reasonable price. They had these can drinks that I really responded and they were only 7 dollars. Ok, I know that saying something is only 7 dollars in this economy can seem out of touch. But a drink in LA most of the time will run you at least 12 to 16 dollars, and I think it is mostly on the 16 side. So finding a 7 dollar drink in a hot spot is refreshing. It was a Suncruiser- a vodka spirit based drink- that was part of their specials for their night. maybe is more expensive on other nights when it is not on special? After the drink Conrand and I stepped into their floor. It was the first time we were there and it is basically a basement game room on whatever it is that Bane takes to make himself go from puny human to muscle-on-muscle-on-muscle villain. There is a lot of pool tables maybe like 5, and I saw ping pong, and other table games. Additionally, instead of a speaker or a recorder- the one's that spin old timey records- there was a band. I took a short video of the band but I could not tell you if this band was good or bad or their name or their style of music. I was partly present, and I just heard the music, I did not appreciate the performers. It happens. So Conrad and I play all the time together. And I saw a guy playing by himself. We quickly introduced oursevles and then we played pool. Here is the thing that I am happy to write about this place. Unline a regular bar with a pool table, where every one knows your name, this place had the opportunity to meet new people. And I enjoyed playing with this guy. He was a new challenge. He had fresh stories. And he offered a view of the world I enjoyed. So this place offers the opportunity to meet new people over a game of pool. If pool is your thing than this place will make you happy an if pool is your way of meeting new folks then this place will make you happy and give you opportunities to find the folks you imagine you need in your life. In the final analysis, I want to go here again, and experience the place more broadly. Not sure if I will write a new Yelp, because even though I bared bone this one, it still gives the primary messages I want to. And to the guy who I played with thanks for having a good time with me, even if it was short. And sometimes, short, can be just enough.

After picking thru it because I was hungry, I spoke to an manager and he just seemed as if I was not being honest, so I pulled the broken bread pieces out to show him; and he didn't offer anything in return. I won't be back.
