Ordered one dinner from the specials paper menu. My husband and I share meals because neither one of us eats that much and we don't like to bring home leftovers. On the specials menu it had a side salad for $2.49 with entree, so we ordered that too. The bill came and the salad was $3.99 so we questioned the waitress and the snotty answer we got was it was because we shared the dinner so we were charged the regular price for the side salad. If we had been told that when we ordered WE could have decided if we wanted the salad with the new price. To me that is false advertising. read more

Peppertree is one of my favorite restaurants for quick and inexpensive but still great tasting breakfasts, especially on Sunday mornings after Church. Their economy breakfast specials are some of the best deals in all of San Gabriel Valley. The help is very nice and efficient and the food is served warm / hot almost always. The interior is in dire need of redecorating and painting however, it does not really hurt their business that much for people that are willing to overlook this 1970's look for really great prices. They have tables, booths, counter, outdoor patio,and large private room for seating options. The outdoors is reserved for the smokers. read more

the food is great, the only thing is I have a breakfast club and we have guys that are handicapped including my self. When we use the back room there is no handicap ramp so it is difficult to get wheelchairs and walkers down into the back room ! Is it possible to rectify this problem ? John G. read more

We've been coming here for dinner or breakfast but never lunch and this is our first time to ever come for lunch. We usually love the service but today it was like a very different atmosphere here. The service by the waitress was really terrible. She's like forced to serve us. The food was brought fast and the bill was put on our table right after our entree was served. What ? I barely had two bites she just put it there not saying anything then she was gone. Never came back. What we were left there by ourselves except there was the busboy who was there who asked if we needed anything. He gave us the coffee and also the to go box. The waitress was a no show. This never happened before. What's with the lunch service? Horrible!!! I won't eat there for lunch or it will be a while till I go there again!!! From the outside, Peppertree doesn't look like much. It's not particularly brith on the outside and is kind of isolated on the side of a plaza. By when you go inside, your instantly greeted by warm service and yummy food. The ambience is good and the seating is comfortable. They have a menu with a nice selection. We ordered the sirloin steak, which was quite tasty. And the fried shrimp tasted delightful. They had a tortilla soup that was fantastic, as well as their Italian wedding soup. I love this place! Always nice and warm, never a wait, and some great service. My father and I love to come here for breakfast when I am in town and we have yet to be disappointed. Have driven past this place for years and never thought or wanted to try it. Today we went in to try it because its national waffle day and we were passing by. All the staff is very nice & friendly. Large quantities of tasty coffee shop food, fair prices. If you want to dine outdoors, prepare to be fumigated by smokers at neighboring tables. The restaurant does not observe the four-year-old county ordinance banning smoking in outdoor dining areas. In fact, they supply ashtrays. I guess the health inspector missed that. read more

Okay I've been eating at the Peppertree Cafe for over ten years and have always been pleased with the food and service received until this visit. I don't know if there has been a change of ownership or management or something else, but it was like I was eating at a completely different restaurant Thursday night. Even though the restaurant was 75% empty, the service was below average and the food was awful. We had to ask for water twice and when it finally arrived there was a used plastic candy wrapper inside my water glass. Our waitress had to ask us twice what we ordered as she explained she couldn't remember because she was also helping a large party in the banquet room. I had the ribeye steak and it was the worst ribeye steak I've ever eaten. It was very thin and atleast 3 different temperatures. One end of it was rare, the other end was well done and the middle was medium. My friends Citrus Chicken was cut up and cooked completely dry. It was inedible. She took a couple of bites only and then felt ill the next day. I do not think the chef who worked tonight has cooked beef or chicken before. I'm sorry to have to write this review, because I have had many very good meals here in the past. I will not be returning though, because it seems like a different restaurant than it used to be. read more

This is a great family restaurant with friendly waitresses, a huge menu, low prices and ample portions. They treat you like family the minute you walk in. I have eaten at this restaurant for years. They won the People's Choice Award for at least three years in a row. The food is great; the prices reasonable and I have seen the same people working there for many years which says a lot for any place that continues to keep the same help and customers year after year. The first time I came here was on my birthday for breakfast. I was with a group of men that had been there several times before me, and who had already had their "orders" ready before we even sat down...since I was the last one to order, I just picked pancakes, eggs and bacon. The food came out fast, and the pancakes are huge...about the size of a hubcap or so...and there were two of them!! Other than the massive size of them, the pancakes weren't anything to write home about. Everyone else's plate looked better than mine, and it turned out that even though some people had a literal feast on their plates and then some, my dish cost nearly the same as theirs did for a 'meh' meal. I came back second time because even though I wasn't particularly enthused by my meal, the other people in my party had a good looking plate. Upon getting a better look at the menu, I realized the previous waitress charged me for each item a la carte rather than as a combo...my meal would have been considerably cheaper that way. So that kind of made me angry, seeing as she could have been helpful. I worked in the service field and have always gotten my customers things that were the best bang for their buck... But in her defense, she could have just thought I knew what I wanted since the rest of the table ordered everything EXACTLY as they wanted it...she could have thought I was like them, but still!!! Customer service 101. Second trip was much better. Had the bacon and eggs with hash browns and biscuits and gravy. Very happy with that order and with my server. The Peppertree Cafe feels like you are eating with family! The employees are all friendly and work hard to give you a great dining experience. You can tell once you are in there that they have their "regulars" but you soon feel like a regular by the attention everyone gives you. Even the manager stopped by to say hi and to introduce herself. My husband and I were on our way home and had been experiencing car troubles along the way. Our trip was no vacation, but we were cheered up by our server Wendy and she brought a smile to our frustrated faces. Our food was cooked to our specifications and was nice and hot when we got it. Even the prices were great...you couldn't ask for better! The decor was appealing both inside and out. Small town feel with updated feel.
