My wife and I visited Lincoln House for the first time, and it was a terrible experience from start to finish. The service was extremely slow to start--we waited a while just for water and to get drink orders taken. We ordered the Ahi tuna appetizer, which was good, but the course pacing completely fell apart after that. Our salads took 25 minutes to arrive. Before I could even get the fresh ground pepper I requested, our main courses were rushed to the table while we hadn't even started our salads. The food quality was unacceptable for an upscale restaurant: Both my wife and I ordered our steaks medium-rare. Mine arrived completely leathery, dry as a bone, and thoroughly overcooked. I didn't eat a single bite of it. My wife's steak arrived medium-well, and her side of rice was completely dry. The bottle of red wine we ordered from their very small wine list was served warm. When we declined having the steak re-fired or free dessert, we finished our wine and asked for the check. The $62 inedible steak was still on the bill, so I asked to speak with the owner. When I calmly explained the issues, the owner became angry that I didn't want the steak redone and walked away mid-conversation. He eventually came back, removed the $62 steak, and told us he didn't want us back in his restaurant. To top it off, for an establishment charging fine-dining prices where guests dress up, the owner was wearing shorts and sneakers. One chance is all a restaurant gets to make a good impression. I don't normally write reviews, but this venue absolutely deserves one. We recently celebrated my husband's surprise 50th birthday here, and the entire evening exceeded every expectation. After months of planning, I was naturally nervous, but Bill made the whole process so much easier. He was incredibly accommodating, patient with all of my questions, and always willing to work with me to make sure every detail came together. Most importantly, he was true to his word. Everything we discussed beforehand was delivered exactly as promised, which gave me so much peace of mind. The staff was just as amazing. They were friendly, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care that everyone was having a great time. They kept everything running smoothly behind the scenes so I could relax and enjoy such a special evening with my family and friends. A group of us were planning to meet at the Lincoln House for drinks and dinner. My boyfriend and I got there early and sat at the bar for Happy Hour. Excellent happy hour as drinks were $5 until 6 pm. They had food on the Happy Hour menu but since we planned to have dinner with the group, we decided to have drinks. There was a live band that sounded great but it was too loud to have conversations inside. When the group started showing up, we all went to the front patio where we were able to talk and mingle. We all continued having drinks because the conversations were so good with our high school friends. All that being said...I recommend this place for the live band, bar and menu offerings. Prices are at the fair to high end...the taste of food and plate presentation is very good. They have a "Speak-Easy" back room...I didn't visit this but I have a feeling that's it's more OK and nothing to wow about. $15 for two deviled eggs (two eggs cut in half), dinner salad was from Norm's restaurant class, steak with blue cheese, shrimp and mac-n-cheese was an above average...then the shrimp pasta was very good. Excellent experience here! Came early on a Saturday for dinner and some drinks. We were seated right away. We had a reservation but didn't need it at the time. Our server was super prompt to come over and offer water and get us some menus. She got our drinks to us pretty quick and we got right onto appetizers. We got a wedge salad to share. Shortly, after ordering, she came back for our mains and said " not trying to rush you just some people like to get on with what they want" which we really appreciate appreciated because I can't stand waiting around without someone to ask me if I'm ready. Our cocktails came and they were fantastic. I'm very persnickety about my gimlet and the bartender made it wonderful. Made it wonderful four times in fact. Our wedge salad came, and it was cold and crisp. The blue cheese dressing was very good. If I could change something, I would say it may be needed a little bit more bacon and red onion. I also really appreciated that our server (Danielle) let us know that there was egg on the salad that was not listed on the menu. I dislike egg so I'm so glad she said something. For mains we got the Mongolian beef and the shrimp linguine. Both came out pretty quickly and she timed it really well. It wasn't super busy so I can see why it came out fast but also she was just super attentive to what was going on. The Mongolian beef was crispy with tons of flavor and the rice was really good. The shrimp linguine had plenty of shrimp and a lovely lemon cream sauce. After our meals, we stayed for a little bit of the band. They seem to be a very well-rounded trio. Allegedly this old school specialty group plays everything from the 50s till now! Indeed, we heard music from the 50s and the 60s and country and roc and roll. Overall, this place was great. Can't stress enough how I wish NEGATIVE STARS were an option... That being said, here are the facts: Went in expecting a nice dinner and drinks with some friends and family. We've been here several times before and spoke quite highly of Lincoln House (ambiance/service/food/drinks). Our reservation was for 8pm. Their closing time on a Wednesday was 9:30pm. Our server, Emily, was nice and attentive (at first). Our food and drinks came out timely. Food was mediocre to pleasant. Drinks were good. Emily told us last call was just before 9. We ordered our last round and a $70+ bottle of wine. Our 2 main dishes of the more expensive rib eyes had not came out yet. By 9:15, we were the last table. By 9:40, pillows and chairs were on top of tables and the music was turned off. We were COMPLETELY insulted. By this time, we had already received the bill of over $400 and tipped generously. We asked Emily to speak with the manager, who just so happened to be the bartender. Emily (whom we thought was nice) stormed off with an attitude. I turned around and noticed a very fake smile as Jennifer, approached our table. When we asked if that is how they treat their customers especially after spending almost $500, Jennifer gave an EXTREME "I could care less attitude" and said they gave us a last call and that's what they do when it's closing time. We literally left there with the WORST service from ANY restaurant we've ever been to. We literally feel ROBBED. If anyone reads this review, PLEASE KNOW WE HIGHLY DO NOT recommend this place to ANYONE looking for quality service. I really like the vibe in here and we even had live music with a guy playing some great 70's guitar music. Our cocktails arrived soon after and were made spot on. My Old Fashioned was great with a maple simple syrup. My wife enjoyed her Martini as well! I ordered the Short Rib entre, as I usually do whenever I find it on the menu at various restaurants. The meat was very tender and flavorful, bedded on a pile of mashed potato's and sliced, blanched carrots. I could have easily eaten another plate, which brings me to my criticism. This location has a decent amount of parking with a walking distance, but it is very close to a residential neighborhood so parking can get a little difficult. I've been to this location twice now, the first time for a regular sitdown dinner. I started with the bacon deviled eggs, followed by the pan, seared salmon. The food was good, but the drinks were better. On my second trip here I came to the speakeasy the drinks were really good but just as in the Funhouse, the back house is also pretty tight in regards to seating. One of the MOST HORRIBLE dining experience of my life!!! I wouldn't consider this place to be fine dining but for the location and what they try to offer seems like that's what they strive to be. Decided to go here for dinner on a double date night. Started off ok with a Emily being our server. But when it came near to closing time, even though we weren't done, we still had our food and drinks. We noticed they started to turn off the lights, the music, and piled a bunch of their outdoor cushions at the table right next to us. The energy shifted from being polite to rude from our server Emily once we asked to speak to the manager who was also the bartender named Jennifer. As she walked towards our table she had a smirk on her face as to already know why we wanted to talk to her. She said that's their protocol when it's closing time. We've explained that we just spent almost $500 on our bill and felt rushed to leave when we weren't even done with the bottle of wine we had just ordered. I've been to many other restaurants when it was close to closing time and never have they made it obvious or rushed us to leave like this place has. I'm hoping that the owner of this place retrains their employees on proper dining etiquette and their attitude when handling any situation with their customers. Lincoln House is a great cocktail bar and restaurant in the heart of Covina. They have craft cocktails, delicious food, great service and a cool atmosphere. They even have live music every week! I love their deviled eggs (not you gramma's deviled eggs), and their Bruschetta. For drinks, the smoked Barrel Aged Old Fashioned is delicious! I must mention that Lincoln House also has a cool Speakeasy that is open Thursday through Sunday and a nice outdoor patio if you want to stay away from the live music on the weekends. This is one of the classiest bars in the Covina/West Covina area. It is not really fancy, but it is nice. Food selection is good, they have a full bar, and the crowd varies depending on the day of the week. I would say it is mostly 30's and older. I recommend to visit Lincoln House and decide for yourself. read more

For my drinks I ordered the nineteenth amendment and the honeybubbles that were both decent sized and good drinks. The ambiance was perfect ! We waited for an 8:30 reservation in the Speakeasy. It is a separate room with entrance granted with a reservation and the Password of the day. It seats about 30 guests and can be rented for a private party. I just loved the decor and furnishings to transport me back in time to the Prohibition days! The bartender was Markley, she is a professional mixologist and good storyteller! She creates her own mixers in small batches. We ordered an Old Fashion and Speakeasy Sidecar. The drink menu is written on "luggage tags" pull one from the collection and enjoy! I like this creative way of reading the menu!! The music was blaring from a Playlist that we enjoyed in the Speakeasy. The main bar had a live band performing at 8pm to closing. This was a fun night, and I can't wait to return.
