Spicy margarita
Huong N.

Stopped by here on Thursday night to grab dinner and drinks with a friend, and it was such the perfect place for a catch up. There is plenty of seating as well as bar seating! I know we got there pretty early, so we were one of the first people in the place. Our waiter was super friendly, and our food came out incredibly quick. I had the pub club, which was delicious but definitely a big sandwich. My friend had the chicken pot pie, and she said it was delicious! We also had drinks, all of which were good as well! I wanted to have a spicy margarita, and even though they didn't have on the menu, the bartender just created one! Overall would come here again!

Came here late night around 11:30 after a comedy show and ordered calamari. It was perfectly crispy and had great flavor. The atmosphere is dark and inviting, with good convos taking place around everyone. I ordered the food at the bar and it came out quickly to the table we were seating at. Def would love to get a full meal here at an earlier time one day.

Crab Cakes

Chill pub in Baltimore! My husband and I stopped in here for some crab cakes and drinks while strolling through the city. No price on the crab cakes on the menu - they were expensive but very good! Service was also fast with the drinks, which were also very good. Overall good experience.

Crab Cake Sandwich

Crab Cake Sandwich is convincing at a pub in Baltimore! Fries was pretty good. Crab Cake was satisfying, good portion and fresh. Came across 2 crab shell inside the crab cake though. The bun choice was the downside, not complimenting well, big and dry.

I have been iffy about this place because when I have gone late night the strong smell of their special "late night steamed shrimp" has turned me off but when a friend suggested this for dinner, I decided to give it another try. Luckily for our 6pm reservation everything smelled great. I got a tasty cocktail called the Bichon Frise. I had the fish and chips which was very well made with cod and a light breading. My friend also go this and a couple other friends got the vegan quinoa burger, which they enjoyed. The server was kind and brought us lots of extra ranch to dip our fries

Stumbled upon this bar a while back and finally got back around to checking it out. It has a chill neighborhood bar vibe, but it also has some cool food options---I would definitely return. GLOWS: -Service was friendly and efficient. -The chicken pot pie was much different than I'm used to, but I enjoyed it. -Smoked wings were perfectly crisp -They have outdoor and indoor seating. Indoor gets very dark and moody as the sun sets! GROWS: -ordered the wings naked lacked flavor. I'm not sure how they season them before preparation, but they definitely depend on sauce. -Bathroom could use a little TLC

Every time I'm in Fells, I somehow always wonder "Where should we eat?" amongst all of the little bar-restaurants along Thames Street. With lots to choose from, let me urge you to walk down 1 more block and sit outside at Penny Black. The views of the water are top notch and the food is even better. Their menu goes well beyond "bar food" and is delicious. We got the bacon wrapped goat cheese jalapeños (need I say more ), fried oysters, smoked wings, chicken Caesar salad (with homemade dressing) and the burger "fancy style". It was all TOP NOTCH and the wings and burger outdo any of the others you'll get at restaurants along the same strip. Also, the beer, wine, and cocktail menu is lovely and we enjoyed an IPA draft. Service was quick and staff were friendly and knowledgeable. It's truly an underrated gem in Fells for casual but delicious food!

Penny Black looks the part of a cozy Fells Point pub, but once you settle in, it's mostly just... there. I might come back for a drink since the bar was neat and the servers were very nice but the food was small portion and bland. I got the pot pie since it looked good but not much going on in a tiny meal and didn't match the price tag.

I had drinks at Penny Black a few weeks ago with a friend who lives in the area, and I really enjoyed it. It had definite vibes - old school, traditional neighborhood bar vibes. It feels retro and cool without seeming to try too hard. The service was good, and - while I stuck to classic cocktails - the drinks were good as well. Definitely a cool spot I'd be happy to find myself at again.

Oyster po boy with cole slaw

Penny Black was a pleasant find for lunch. We sat outside - which was very nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We shared the pound of OldBay shrimp as a wonderful start to the meal. One of us had the crab cake sandwich - delicious (nice bun, with tomato and lettuce) - while the other had arguably the best Oyster po boy ever experienced (oysters were brimming out of the roll with a wonderful sauce). The sides of cole slaw and fries were both great. The slaw was a homemade nice and light side while the fries were too good (meaning then we can't stop eating them). Only difficulty is the same one with all of Fells Point - got to find a place to park!

This is a quintessential Baltimore Fells Point bar. It's one of the few places that serves food late. It's bar food, nothing to write home about but sometime the food shocks you, in how good it can be. I love the ambiance of the bar - there's something about the tin roof and the red light of Penny Black that casts a glow. There's a decent beer on tap selection but you don't come here for cocktails or wine. It's a dive bar! The staff is friendly usually the same career bartenders which makes it feel so special. It's quieter than other fells point bars which is the best. You almost feel transported when you come in here.

The man who waited on me was super friendly and checked in often to see how I was doing. Based on his recommendation, I decided to try one of their cheesesteaks, with sautéed mushrooms and onions, accompanied by sweet potato fries. The sandwich was piping hot when it was served. I'm not sure if I burned my tastebuds on the first few bites, but I found the sandwich to have very little taste. The nice man came back and pointed out the all of hot sauces, so I opted for a chipotle flavored one, which helped boost the flavor of the sandwich. The sweet potato fries were really tasty, but some were a little soggy. This place is definitely a local favorite in the Canton area and I can see why, with such friendly and attentive service.

We had an InKind credit to use, and Sally O's was one of the most appealing options on the app. We stopped by for Friday dinner on a beautiful fall evening and grabbed a table outside. Both the interior and patio are thoughtfully decorated with a cool neighborhood bar vibe that feels unmistakably Baltimore. The menu follows the same theme, mixing local classics like coddies with more creative dishes like the CrabOnara. Since it was our first visit, we ordered enough to get a good feel for the menu. We tried the Baltimore coddies, CrabOnara, heirloom tomato and caviar sandwich with bacon, and the Not Nashville chicken sandwich. Everything was well prepared and brought some serious flavor. The coddies were exceptional. The salt cod and potato fritters with saltines and yellow mustard gave me a full Ratatouille moment, taking me straight back to eating the coddies my grandmother made when I was a kid. The CrabOnara was also excellent, combining bucatini with crab, egg yolk, Parmesan, bacon, and black pepper. I only wished it had a little more crab and pasta, but who would not want more of something that good? Both sandwiches were very good as well. The Not Nashville chicken sandwich packed plenty of flavor, while the heirloom tomato and caviar sandwich was fresh and indulgent. My only suggestion would be to toast the bread a little harder so it can better survive the juicy tomato and basil mayo without falling apart. Service was excellent throughout dinner. The food came out with great pacing, and we never found ourselves waiting or needing anything. Overall, Sally O's is a great neighborhood haunt that has rightfully become a local favorite. We will definitely be back.

The drink menu did not tickle my fancy so I ended up just having water. The restaurant week menu was a good selection of their regular menu items so it was an opportunity to try something that I could get again. I opted for the tuna as an appetizer, the whole branzino as my entree, and the zalabia for dessert. Everything was delicious! I would have liked the tuna to be more chilled; it came out closer to room temp. I have no notes for the bronzino. It was perfectly cooked, I really love the time and orange, the olive tapenade was the right amount of salty and briny, and the accompanying roasted harissa potatoes were fantastic. I guess if I had any critique it would be of the too skinny and woody asparagus. The dessert was something I'd never heard of, something like Mediterranean donuts. I really love the pistachios and the I think pomegranate sauce (it wasn't described on the menu so Im guessing), but the addition of chocolate was completely unnecessary and I'm not just saying that because I don't like chocolate lol. After dinner me and my dining companion went upstairs to the speakeasy for a cocktail. I was hoping they had a different drink menu and they did! This menu was much more interesting to me and I ended up getting a a well-balanced gin cocktail. I just read that they are closing to relocate so I'm hoping that I'll be able to go again soon.

My friend said I had to come here. We did. As soon as we stepped out of the Uber the adventure began. The building is so out dated but the entrance door held its charm. Neon lit Edgar portrait reading from a book his Annabel Lee. Complete with a bouquet of flowers. To the right more words of the writer surrounded with a few tables and chairs for those willing to chill in the cold. Inside was no different. Several crows, skulls everything you'd expect. And a well stocked bar. Many writings on the wall, articles, awards, etc all added to the vibe and theme. And of course dimly lit but you could still read the menu. We were guided to the back for our party of 5, in a corner away from everyone else. That made it easy for us to converse as we perused the menu exclaiming this and that of the dreadful names used and deathly ingredients mixed in. It definitely made it more appetizing. After working all day I was ready for a drink and settled on the To Isadore; gin, lavender syrup, lemon squeeze topped with segura cava. That hit the spot. Unfortunately, I had eaten quite a bit on this trip and forced myself to order the Chef Salad. Nothing more to say there. My wife, though, ordered the seafood lasagna. Never had that and it didn't sound like something I could get into. I was wrong. This is Baltimore. The seafood here is astounding. It was delicious and had to take a couple spoon fulls. My friend ordered the double beef patty burger. I was jealous until he offered me a bite. That was really good too, and juicy. If you're looking for an experience and are not too afraid you may want to visit Annabel's. I do recommend it and do insist coming after the sun has been well down.

And this led to me discovering just how much of a certifiable beer haven Max's is! For a Philly comparison I'd put Max's on the same caliber as Glory Beer Bar and Kitchen but with a beer bible on the same scale as Monk's. It's been a beer haven for going on four decades and it shows with their 100+ rotating taps, 1000+ bottles & cans, a 4 casks that feature plenty of local Baltimore brews alongside the finest from Belgium, Germany, and then some! They even have seasonal special events like a Sour Beer Fest in June, and a Rare & Obscure Beer Weekend in October. The bar interior was classic wood, with a huge main bar that showcased the many brew and spirit options. The bartenders were also spot on with their service and spot on beer suggestions. For food being so close to the waterfront had me craving some seafood, and the rockfish sandwich delivered with its Chesapeake seasoning and remoulade dressing. Each day of the week has a beer special at Max's, and Thursday meant that I was enjoying a discount on full pint cask pours. I liked that Max's had transparent pricing available for 4 oz to large pours and growlers to go on their menu for each and every draft beer, and the 4 oz pours made it easier to enjoy the 11% abv barleywine beer from a Baltimore brewery that I was curious about without feeling some extra inebriated repercussions during my ghost tour. On top of that, even if you have a table, you still have to go up to the bar to order. When the place is busy, it's a complete shitshow. You're fighting through a crowd just to get a drink while your table sits empty. Whoever came up with this ordering system clearly doesn't care about being easy to do business with.
