After a disastrous meal at Captain George's we tried the Peking Restaurant. This was the finest Chinese buffet I have ever been to. It was about $20 less per person than the over priced Captain George's. A very wide range of menu items. Everything I was able to sample was good. The seafood items were better than Captain George's. I've been coming here for years. Every time I've been here the staff is wonderful and the food is great. I sit in there for quite a while. The grill is amazing, I enjoy the selection of sauces and veggies. The sushi train is always very good, sadly they no longer make the Smithfield roll. The soup station is also very delicious! I have been to a lot of Chinese buffets. Unfortunately, this is one I would not visit twice. We arrived at 6 PM on a Thursday which I would assume was prime dinner time. Everything I ate was either hard as a rock or swimming in sauce (but still hard). It was obvious that the food had been sitting for hours. Most of the chairs had plastic covers that were torn and sharp and uncomfortable to sit on. The food was decent.. hibachi was mediocre though.. but the Mongolian BBQ was great.. Thai selection was so so.. but yummy. Searching for reviews on good restaurants while on a business trip to Williamsburg and this place popped up toward the top. Glad I went here, nice place with tons to choose from. The items are exactly what you would from any chinese style buffet like this, it's not the best you will ever have but it is still good none the less, and the selection makes up for alot. I have never been to a buffet like this with so much to choose from. All was pretty good except for the sushi which I would steer away from, not awful but not top quality ingredients by any means. We were visiting Williamsburg at New Years and decided to order Chinese. We chose Peking because of its close proximity. It was some of the best Chinese that we've ever had. Our daughters who are EXTREMELY picky loved the Steak on a Stick and Fried Rice. The egg drop soup and hot and sour soup were both great! Pros - huge interior, lots of seating, beautiful decorations and great atmosphere overall. Lots of variety in the food selection, inviting customers to try a bit of everything. Cons - the quality of the food was not terrible, but it certainly wasn't good. My favorite thing to get at Chinese restaurants is general tsos chicken, but the dish here was completely unrecognizable in taste. I can describe it other than it was awful. This place is just... okay. My family goes to Chinese buffets regularly and this place is just average for quality of food. It offers a lot of different styles and a variety of Asian cuisine, such as Chinese, Mongolian, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean, Thai. There's a lot going on. You can get sushi from a sushi train station (which I personally wouldn't eat because I prefer something super fresh). There's a noodle soup station, a Mongolian grill, a hot table, a soup table, a rice station, a banquet buffet station, and small dessert station. Food wise - they use a lot of oil in their cooking. Most of the food didn't feel authentic to me, just a restaurant trying to serve more dishes. Not real pho, not real Korean pancake, not real pad thai, not real goi cuon (spring rolls), not real thai curry. They lacked flavor in some foods or it tasted a little off. A little too much sugar or not enough salt. They had a few seafood items such as mussels and clams. That's it. I wouldn't try the sushi cuz I have no idea how long the sushi has been sitting there. I did not try the Mongolian grill. The one great thing is that most of the dishes have covers over the food. Not the kind of dessert selection I would like to have. They have cakes, fruit, puddings, cookies. The soft serve ice cream is like icy ice cream, not the McDonald's creamy kind. The interior looks decent. Hosts there to greet you and nice ornate chairs. There's a displays of Chinese and Mongolian garments and art. And the place is clean. The only reason I came here was because this was a close option for food after leaving Busch Gardens. At under $10 for a lunch buffet, this is a pretty great buy. You get what you pay for, of course - the lunch buffet offerings aren't a great assortment, mostly fried items. There are more offerings at dinner, like a Thai counter, but I haven't tried them. So why four stars? The extras. If you feel like sushi, they have a little conveyor belt offering rolls in the back. But the real highlight is the Mongolian grill, which offers great flavor and as many bowls as you want of meat, vegetables, and noodles. The ingredients taste fresh and the chefs do a great job. We wanted chinese buffet, when we were in the Williamsburg area recently,so went here. This is actually our 2nd time at the restaurant. I thought our 1st time wasn't bad. Not the best but at least ok. Packed with people at lunch. The sushi area was fun. Small plates of roll pieces go around on a covered conveyor. Labeled so easy to tell. Too much rice and sauce on them though. Also, saw a lot of rolls pre-made behind so not as freshly made. Chinese food options are not too enticing. I still took a small bite of each. Some were ok, some overcooked. Thai section was closed. There's a make-to-order soup area but didn't appeal to me. Maybe the way the items are presented. The mongolian grill has to be scraped after each customer. I like the option of freshly cooked food, like in hibachi places, but here, the taste from previous customer's ingredients get cooked into next customer's and just not clean-tasting. Also, the ingredients were either down to very little or empty and still wasn't refilled in a timely manner. Even the desserts didn't appeal to me. Decor though is the best part in this place. The only lo mein was vegetable. The ONLY beef dish was beef/onions. Didn't see any pork anywhere. The mixed vegetables are 90% over-steamed broccoli. I did manage to dig out ONE mushroom (the only one I saw on the entire buffet), and one baby corn. Anyone saying this place is good has never been to even an average Chinese buffet. This spot offers delivery through Door Dash. I used Door dash for the first time today and ordered from Peking, though I haven't been to Peking in years (more than 15). I ordered 4 dishes, including the sweet and sour chicken (shown below). The best thing about the order is that it arrived in less than 30 minutes (closer to 20 minutes), which is impressive. The sweet and sour chicken arrived with the sauce in a separate container from the chicken, which I wasn't expecting. There was a lot of sauce included with the order, which is a good thing, but it would've tasted better if the chicken had been absorbing the sauce as opposed to the sauce being poured onto it just before eating. I also ordered General Tsos Chicken, Chicken and Broccoli, and Veggie Egg Foo Young. I took pictures of each. Nothing was the most delicious that I've ever had but it was edible and relatively inexpensive. They offer fried rice, chow mein, chicken dishes, soups, curry dishes, vegetarian entrees, pork entrees, chop suey, shrimp/seafood, beef entrees, Mongolian stir-fry, etc. The quality can be inconsistent, as sometimes it can pretty solid in terms of the variety, and other times, it can be low in quality and pretty unkept. Definitely a popular place with the W&M students, and you can see that Jackie Chan and his son used to frequent here when the son used to attend W&M.
