So today, I got really busy and wasn't able to grab lunch. I have been craving Chinese for a while and as I don't live in Puebla Mexico the 5th of May means nothing to me, I went online to Grubhub to have a late lunch early dinner. It's pretty easy to make the order and they have a nice variety here. They do have my fav which strictly speaking isn't really Chinese, Bourbon chicken. Yum! I ordered spring rolls and the Bourbon chicken. I was give a time frame about 30 min. This gave me pause as it's usually 40+ minutes. Lo and behold, it was actually less which really gave me pause. This means they didn't cook it fresh, that they just gave me leftover from lunch. It arrived and sure enough, not fresh. It was very dry with no sauce at all. They didn't even include any sauce for the spring rolls! This was a sad dunch for me. Being really hungry though I ate half of the chicken anyway. Oh well. Maybe it's because I ordered so early. We ordered take out from here and we will definitely be back! The service was extremely fast, friendly, and the entire order was correct (with substitutions). We ordered the house fried rice (tons of meat!), fried dumplings, crab Rangoon, fried shrimp appetizer, spicy general tsos combination, egg drop soup, roast pork chow fun, and the donuts for our family. It was a ton of food, and all of the dishes were great! The restaurant is in a strip mall, doesn't have any inside seating so you will need to take to go. Awesome find! read more

This item is very plain and dry. Barely any sauce or flavor. I was expecting sticky, sweet honey sauce glazed naked chicken tidbits, maybe with some veggies. Did not realize it was basically just breaded like sweet and sour chicken which I dislike. But okay, never mind that. Decided to stay open minded upon realizing what the dish actually is/how it looks. When I bit into it, I just tasted bread. The breaded part makes up the entire dish, very little chicken inside the breading. I rate this a 2/10 because it's lacking flavor and CHICKEN even though it's called "honey CHICKEN". That's what $12.00 gets you, I guess. I should've just went to chipotle for all this trouble. Also I had the fried scallops which are also breaded and dry, but cost $7.00. 4/10, not as bad as the chicken, certainly still not great. Was in the area for work just decided to order from somewhere for a quick bite. Honestly was pretty disappointed when I opened up the bag and saw this. The pieces are so big, and some have extra fat on them. It wouldn't hurt to chop the pieces in half or more. The best part was prolly the white rice soaking up the juices. Well....I'm not quite sure what to say about the food we ordered... the "fried" rice was unlike anything I've ever had. It seemed more like frozen bright yellow rice. The chicken dish I ordered had a thick gelatinous semi cold sauce which was supposed to be Kung Pao chicken. We live just a short walk away and picked up our food immediately after ordering. It should have been hot. We also ordered Won Ton soup and the broth was extremely dark brown and tasted faintly like bourbon had been added. I have ordered from here several times and it has been good. Unfortunately Williamsburg doesn't have any great Chinese restaurants but this one was one of the better ones. However, I ordered cashew chicken and it should have been called carrot and celery with a hint of chicken. This was pathetic. There was almost no chicken or cashews but more than half the box was cut up celery and carrots. I get that times are tough, but don't up your prices and then skimp on all of the quality. I ordered delivery and it was delivered pretty quickly. As for the food I would not recommend this place and I will probably not go back. I ordered the General tso Chicken and pan fried dumplings. The dumplings were good and it was a good sized order. The Chicken was horrible. It had no flavor. I ordered it spicy and it was not at all and barely enough sauce to even wet the chicken. The restaurant is great, kinda pricey which is why it isn't 5 star but the customer service is good. was not excited about the quality of a dish, I brought it back and they re-made it to fix the error. ALSO ALL of their Lo-mein comes with carrots unless you specify to not have carrots in it, this is the only Chinese place in town that serves their lo-mein with carrots but I did not know this. I also brought the shrimp lo-mein back because of this, we have a carrot allergy, they remade this aswell. Great customer service and now I know for the future to specify NO carrots in my lo-mein. The food was great, so we will be coming back here again no doubt, very great place and if you have any issues with your order they will fix it. Thanks No.1 China! See you guys again soon! read more

I was on vacation and getting HANGRY. My wife is on a diet and can't eat anything good so she was picking up some un-tasty things at Harris Teeter across the street. Anyway, I walked over to No 1 China to pick up two egg rolls. They made them fresh for me and I ate them when I got back to the vacation home. The egg rolls were very mediocre; being rather bland and not much meat at all. But I realized when I asked a different local merchant they they had charged me too much spotting me for a tourist. Egg rolls were $1.35 x 2 = $2.70 x 1.07 (Williamsburg tax is higher than regular VA at 7%) so the total should have been $2.90 but, they had charged me $3.30 I had run out of the Chinese place too quickly to do the math then. The sweet and sour soup is delicious. Everything else is inedible. Dumplings are thick and filled with nasty meat. Green beans are boiled rather than stir fried. Good prices. Good food. They will also adjust how they prepare your order if you ask. The online ordering is excellent. You can customize your order with it, too. Example: I like Chicken with broccoli done instead with a white sauce and spicy instead of the usual brown sauce. This place is the pits it doesn't even deserve a star. I should've known better on my 1st visit last month-only orderd wonton soup and chicken wings, my gf got sick immediately that night and thank goodness i just had a tummy ache for awhile. After seeing a few glowing reviews, we were highly disappointed. I'm not sure if they're inconsistent or some people are not tasting the same thing that we are. The hot and sour soup was fine but mediocre--bland and a bit too sweet. The pepper beef was just bad. The vegetables were cooked well but the clear-ish sauce over the entire dish had no flavor other than being really sweet. We ended up throwing the rest away. I also really wanted eggplant with garlic sauce, but somehow this is the only Chinese restaurant I've heard of that doesn't serve it. Took a chance on a recommendation and have to say it was terrific. Small hole in the wall place just outside the gates of Kingsmill Resort. Run by a husband and wife. Serving up authentic Cantonese dishes. Free ingredients. Not heavily layered with sauces like most Chinese places which try to masque inferior ingredients. I go to William and Mary and as a lover of Chinese food and specifically General Tso's chicken, when I got there I did my due diligence to find the best in the area. I tried the majority of the other Chinese places listed in the yelp search in Williamsburg, all others (looking at you first China House) being either completely disgusting or underwhelming. Then I found this place on Yelp farther away from campus and decided to give it a try. As someone who has tried multiple places in the area for General Tso's chicken, this place is the absolute BEST I've ever had anywhere. The flavor is great and quality is great. They used to give huge portions but even now the portion size is very fair. I am very surprised with the amount of low-rated review for this place. While I usually only get the General Tso's I have brought MULTIPLE friends with me or suggested they go and they all have told me this was the best Chinese they've had as well and mostly everyone else got different dishes from the General Tso's. Perhaps in the past it wasn't as good, but that is clearly not the case now. A great place to go, nice and clean, small to medium sized so not too much seating (about 4-5 tables of 4-5 people per table) yet great to bring friends and family. Right in a shopping center with Harris Teeter and others and right across the street from Kingsmill Resort so if you're in there and want to go somewhere close for good Chinese this is the place to go. Also something I notice is that when I go by myself they give me more food generally, not always but it's happened more than a few times. read more

I just ate my leftovers from last night and I wanted to re-iterate how much I love this place!! Last night, we got the "family meal" (4 dishes off a large list for $24); we got roast pork egg fu yung, Mongolian beef, Szechuan chicken, and sesame chicken. All amazing! I think I'll be adding the Mongolian beef to my favorites list! The sauce was light and slightly sweet, but also spicy.
