On a weekend trip to Williamsburg with friends, we decided to try Lanna Thai Cuisine for dinner. The restaurant is older, and the menu covers could use some attention, but our server was very friendly and attentive. We decided on eating family style and ordered appetizers to start off with to share. While the crab rangoon and crispy spring rolls were both hot and fresh, the edamame wasn't. Sadly, we had to send it back. So, our server gladly took it off our bill. The Chicken Pad Thai had an unexpected sweet flavor and it wasn't what we would have preferred, especially in comparison to other Thai cuisine that we've often enjoyed in the past. But, we liked the shrimp fried rice that was very flavorful. We're glad to have stopped in to Lanna Thai. They had several pick up orders while we were dining. There were a couple other tables that seemed to be locals. Would welcome seeing more Yelp reviews on this restaurant to get suggestions on favorite dishes that I should try next time.

Fried Dumplings-really good flavor

Enjoyed another meal here this past weekend. Service was great and appetizers and lunch arrived soon after ordering. The dumplings are seriously on-point, and I still wish the fresh spring rolls had more noodles and other veggies than lettuce. Pad se we was very yummy and my dining companions enjoyed their drunken noodles! It was a little cold inside but it's still a cute little restaurant!

Visited for lunch with a group of friends and we were pleased with our experience! The atmosphere: Such a cute spot, beautifully decorated and welcoming. It works well for both small and larger groups. The menus were especially charming, wrapped in colorful fabric, which felt like a thoughtful touch. The food: I started with the Thai tea, which was definitely on the sweeter side. The menu is extensive with plenty of options, including some Northern Thai dishes. I ordered the Duck Basil. Great flavor overall, though mine was a little dry. Portions are generous and perfect for sharing, and it came with steamed vegetables plus an adorable heart-shaped side of rice. The service: Excellent service from start to finish. Our server was attentive, friendly, and brought such warm energy to the table.

Pad Thai

The place didn't look like much when we entered, but looks are deceiving. The food is the star. I started with a small bowl of tom yum soup. It had the best broth and was full of shrimp and veggies. This could have sufficed as my dinner. I also ordered Pad Thai, not realizing a small bowl of souls was a meal. The Pad Thai was huge and full of more shrimp and veggies all over noodles and a flavorful sauce. Not wanting to waste food, I ate all the shrimp and veggies and some of the noodles. Washed it down with a Sapporo (they have beer and wine). Great place and inexpensive.

Second time back and micro as good as the first. Nice atmosphere, food is delicious and friendliness is off the charts. Good service. Super happy with this place.

I love Lanna Thai! The wait staff is always so kind and accommodating while the food is fantastic. Every time I introduce people to the restaurant, they always are a fan. The interior is always clean as well. I miss this place since I'm no longer in Williamsburg, but this is where I'll always stop by when I visit.

I never like to give a non-chain restaurant a low star rating, I love smaller businesses and always look for the good. I had a mixed crowd, and I asked for everyone's input. Seating - not busy (early dinner) with tables & booths. Seated fairly quick. Dining area with a bar area, a little messy with walls/floorboards kind of grungy. Our first waitress (seemed new) seemed to be figuring out what do. The second waitress was not very personable. Overall, the service was not great. Super hot day, and during the whole meal from start to finish, we were offered one refill of water. They seemed overwhelmed, maybe phone orders? as the dining area was not crowded. Two of our plates had to be exchanged as they were dirty. It happens, so it's not a big deal. We ordered two appetizers - pretty basic flavor, not great, but not terrible. We ordered several entrées, they were the best part of our visit. The only issue was that we were given one wrong entrée, when we brought it to our Waitress attention, it became awkward. We had been waiting awhile, so instead of saying no problem, it became kind of a silence game. My wife was frustrated and said, "Just leave it and cancel the other one. The dish was fried chicken stripes, which were dry, which only added to the frustration. Heart-shaped rice was nice, and the main dishes were pretty decent with nice presentations. Prices were decent We may have visited at a bad time or an off time as other reviews were good, which is why my wife chose this spot. Needless to say, most of the party was not impressed. Wish I could say different.

My son and I were craving Thai and decided to give Lanna a try. From the time we walked in til the time we left we had a great experience. We were seated right away. Water was brought right away while we browsed the menu. The server came and got our drink order. We got the Thai Ice Tea with Boba. We had a late lunch so ordered light. We had steamed dumpling potstickers and #66 Pad Woon Sen. the food came out fast. Presentation looked like a picture. Veggies were fresh and perfectly steamed/cooked. The sauce on Woon sen was delicious and the dumplings were fantastic. This is truly a gem of a Thai restaurant. Highly recommend and will visit again when in the mood for Thai food, which is often!

Panang Curry was super runny, Pad Thai lacked flavor and was overcooked/slimy. Thai tea, chicken satay, and spring rolls were good.

Peter Chang is a spacious sit-down restaurant showcasing authentic Sichuan (alternatively romanticized as Szechwan) and regional Chinese cuisine. It is helmed by the highly awarded master chef Peter Chang, whose mysterious kitchen-hopping history has earned him a world-class reputation and a massive cult following. The capacious facility includes a free dedicated parking lot and multiple commodious dining rooms able to accommodate sizable parties and gatherings. A mix of booth seating and large round tables with chairs [ideal for shared family-style dining] are offered here where the interior décor is unpretentious and basic and the vibe is relaxed and deeply casual. We were a party of eight, walking in at 1:40 PM sans reservations. Only a couple of tables were occupied in the two front dining rooms, so we were seated without wait at a big round table with a lazy susan. The contrast between Peter Chang's modest, unassuming restaurant space and his fiery, unapologetic Szechuan cuisine almost delivers a "Trojan Horse" effect - the quiet, plain façade and simple interior act as a mask for the multidimensional, bold, world-class cooking. The menu includes traditional Chinese favourites alongside regional specialties, delivering a flavourful journey to guests. Below are what we ordered for lunch: Hot&Sour Soup ($3.50 per cup) - A comfortably rich and smooth soup with a well-balanced spicy-tangy flavour profile. Good, but not the best, according to Mel. Tofu with Mixed Vegetable Soup ($10 large bowl) - A light, comforting brothy soup that highlighted the natural flavours of the soft-to-firm cubes of tofu and fresh vegetables. Delish. Minced Chicken Lettuce Wrap ($12) - Everyone commented on the garlic and savoury soy/umami notes that shone through the refreshing crisp lettuce leaves. I wouldn't have minded a bit deeper boldness in the chicken, though. Lomein (Veg $14) - Wok-tossed to perfection, these soft egg noodles soaked up a gorgeous, deep soy glaze without being overly greasy and the vegetables stayed nicely crisp. Seriously simple yumminess. Shrimp w. Wood Ear Mushroom & Snow Peas ($23) - Plump shrimp tossed with crunchy, fresh snow peas and gelatinous, earthy wood-ear mushrooms made for a light, vibrant and healthy dish. Dry-Fried Green Beans ($16) - The skins of the green beans were beautifully wrinkled, charred, and slightly puckered, while keeping the inside vibrant, tender, and snappy. Stir-Fried Green Beans w.Eggplant ($16) - This vegetarian dish of blistered green beans and melt-in-your-mouth tender Chinese eggplant tossed in a savoury Sichuan garlic chili sauce stood out for its vibrant colour and perfect harmony of crisp and silky textures packed with rich, aromatic flavour. Steamed Soup pork Buns (8, $10) - These soup dumplings/xiaolongbao were resilient yet delicate and super succulent. Orange Chicken ($18) - YUM! The chicken pieces were golden-fried and crunchy on the outside, juicy on the inside and coated in a sticky, aromatic citrus sauce that delivered a nice sweet-and-spicy punch of piquant zestiness. Sweet & Sticky Sesame Ball (8, $6) - Served perfectly golden and round, the sesame balls were deeply satisfying and chewy. Unfortunately, I didn't get to eat them fresh, so I missed out on the crispy outer layer, but they were still scrumptious. Egg Tart (Pastry Egg Custard, 3, $5) - The delectable pastries were incredibly light and buttery, and the silky-smooth, creamy egg custards had that dreamily soft, melt-in-your-mouth texture. It was the perfect sweet finish. Our waiter was helpful and friendly. Mom was so impressed by his calm and quick service that she gave him an additional $20 cash tip as we were leaving the restaurant. Thanks for the delightful lunch, Peter Chang! I would love to return when we're back in Williamsburg!

It has a pretty unique selection of dishes not commonly offered in most Chinese takeout places. I consider their offerings more authentic. The serving sizes are huge and can be eaten family style with friends and family! There is a distinct aftertaste that is similar across the dishes we ordered. I'm assuming it's from the oil or base they use in their dishes. But it's not enough to deter me from trying their other food items! Will definitely be coming back! :)
