Pricey but delicious so it's worth it. Including the drive from VA Beach to get here. Cute part of town, seems like it's a strip of Merrimac trail that has small quaint restaurants. I ordered their whole fish with chili oil. It was served with shaved fennel, rosemary, micro greens, Brussels sprouts. They serve the fish head and tail on, I enjoyed it very much since I get to debone the fish which was super fresh. $31 for a small fish. I ordered their oyster po boy taco which had 3 fried oysters served on two tortillas and fresh cabbage, etc. Both dishes had a tad bit too much lemon/citrus taste:after taste. I just wish the fried oysters were placed on top of the veggies and sauce so they could stay crunchy and not soggy! So, be aware.. no noticeable shrimp, only the flavor in the 4 pieces. Hushpuppies were overcooked the first time that were returned. Next batch was properly cooked but still very dry and not very flavorful. Fresh oysters seem to be a big draw , wish I had a bigger appetite! The grilled swordfish taco was a good portion. Got to check out the patio for the first time on a Wednesday night with family. Place was packed so we ate outside and despite the rain that came in we stayed dry. Ceiling fans need to be on high though to keep the flies away! For appetizers we got Oysters and yellow fin tuna Crudo. Both were prepared well and tasted delicious. Oysters were fresh and the crudo was unique. For entrees we all got tacos: Grilled fish- which was swordfish for the day Fried chicken Oyster po-boy Whatever the sauce is on the grilled fish tacos makes it the superior choice. Fantastic! Another great restaurant in Williamsburg! Be sure to add this establishment to your list of places to visit! Their menu is not super extensive but, it has a lot to offer in flavor. On our way out of Yorktown, we meandered to Casa Pearl for a bite. We expected a simple, local spot but it turned out to be a lot more. First, fresh oysters of all sorts. I got a briny Mystic, a medium Laughing King (my favorite), a local Minnie Pearl, and several Victory Points as they were half off for happy hour. Add some home made hot sauce, slurp, and delicious! We also got the whole catch of the day, flounder, perfectly cooked and topped with fennel with a slightly spicy romesco underneath. One bite after another and next thing you know there's nothing but a pile of bones on the plate. Add some perfectly seasoned and cooked hush puppies with honey butter and we had to roll ourselves out the door! This is the best part of Yelp - finding local businesses that are doing it right! We had a great time trying the oysters with the different toppings like red wine and cocktail sauce. I've heard great things about Casa Pearl and it lives up to the hype. The cocktail worked well with the fried hush puppies and the freshness of the oysters. The pork taco was good and had a small kick (spice haters should be fine with it). Getting three different oysters was a fun experience. They all had very different flavors. The Victory Points were smooth and sweet, the White Stones were a little fishy and the Pungoteague Creek ones were rich in flavor. The menu says they taste like miso, but I'd disagree - they're more robust tasting than salty and umami. It can fill up quickly, so you might have to wait for a seat, but while it's busy, it's not that loud. It's not the biggest restaurant, but they also have an outdoor patio. It is still chilly these days, so we opted to stay in, especially since the sun had gone down already. - Parking - Private lot. Since restaurant was busy, I can see issues finding a spot, so go early. They quickly found us a seat for two and we got to ordering! I was so excited since I love seafood. Ceviche - it was super refreshing and the avocado and watermelon radish was a great contrast in texture. This is served with taro root chips. Oysters - we ordered two of each variety they had on the menu that night, ranging from size and salinity. I love oysters, but I definitely did have a favorite in the 4 varieties. I should have asked which one it was, but it was a medium size and I could have downed a dozen of those! Po boy oyster and grilled fish tacos - Both very good! They come with corn tortillas, and a decent size. Key lime pie - so this is not the traditional pie. It's a deconstructed key lime pie, served in a little glass pot. Such a fantastic gem in the Burg that many continue to find. They celebrated 5 years this year. Chef Mike came from the West coast with a lot of industry knowledge and expertise of handling seafood. He had an immediate hit on his hands converting a gas station to Casa Pearl. He later enhanced the modest outdoor seating. I've been twice and both times their signature tacos were a slam dunk. But don't dare miss out on their oysters. They are also known for delicious craft cocktails that can be sipped at their small bar. My most recent visit I sat in the dining room on a Saturday evening solo. My waitress was immediately attentive after my hostess sat me. I ordered a water with my drive back home. I started off with a half dozen salty kiss oysters. Then a variety of three taco later. The oysters were fresh and came with the accompanying items to add. Super yum! First, the service: there was a wait for a table, so the hostess gave us a pager and told us it reached down the street to the Virginia Beer Company. So we hopped back in our car and had a beer while we waited for a spot at the bar. The food: the oysters were all super fresh and very delicious. Casa Pearl is the pinnacle of fine oyster bars in Hampton roads. The oyster monger here knows their oysters. They are ALWAYS fresh and a variety from the east coast. The service is never wanting and the vibe is vibrant as it is a small place but never missing a crowd. I love oysters and try them when I'm somewhere new, this place is hands down the best! We dined here for dinner on a Saturday night and were delighted with our experience. The food was high quality with lots of flavor! Casa Pearl is located in an old gas station. This creates a unique ambiance and a retro feel to the restaurant. The restaurant itself isn't very big and the seating inside is limited. They do have a nice outdoor patio space though. Casa Pearl doesn't take reservations either, so on a busy night there may be a wait. My mother and I arrived around 7:30pm on a Saturday night. We had to park around the back because the main parking lot was full. It was a busier night and we had to wait about 10 minutes before a table was available, no big deal. The staff is extremely attentive and were very accommodating. We were seated outside on their patio and our waiter brought us waters. He was very helpful in regards to navigating the menu and helping us narrow down our options. He was also very attentive! The menu isn't huge, but the options are diverse and unique. We started with the "Golden Salad". I had read many reviews that raved about the salad, and we weren't disappointed! The salad had an Asian flare to it with a really good rice wine based vinaigrette. It was very well balanced and there wasn't too much of any ingredient. The avocado added a nice creaminess to it and the peanuts provided a nice crunch. The portion was perfect to split too. I would recommend this salad as a starter, it is flavorful and light. We also ordered the grilled oysters. I had never had grilled oysters before, but these were so good! The dish was prepared beautifully and came with charred sourdough pieces. The oysters had a nice buttery, lemony taste and were grilled perfectly. They are a little pricey, but we didn't regret ordering them. They weren't heavy either and the sauce on them wasn't too overpowering. For our main dish we both ordered one of the smoked pork tacos and the grilled fish taco. The pork taco had a lot of flavor with a nice kick to it. The spice complimeted the smokiness of the pork very well. The taco itself had a variety of flavors that complimented each other very nicely. The amount of meat was satisfying and the homemade corn tortillas were lovely too! You could really taste the quality of the ingredients. The fish tacos were also amazing. The fish they used that day was Mahi Mahi. It was grilled to perfection and had a nice charring to it. The cabbage slaw on the tacos was really fresh and paired quite nicely with the grilled fish. We both really enjoyed our tacos and agreed they were both filling. Overall, we had a lovely experience here at Casa Pearl. Fresh seafood!  That's what brings us to Casa Pearl each time. We've enjoyed a few trips there. As soon as we pulled in, we got excited - first of all, to find a spot! It's true, parking fills up quickly because Casa Pearl is so popular. There is a "secret" parking lot behind the CVS next door.  Right away, Nicolle, the welcoming General Manager, met us at the door to put us on the list. Oh yes, there is a wait often, but it's worth it! Seating has been cozy and casual each time, and we haven't been on the patio yet. But I'm sure that will change.  Inside, the walls are decorated with award plaques, and a festive oyster shell wreath.  Our servers have been Nazir and Kristen - both seasoned employees of Casa Pearl. They are both attentive to details, and aim to please. Kristen has made some fantastic recommendations for us.  Casa Pearl does an excellent job with their specials. They are seasonal, creative, and trendy.  My husband has been working his way through their ciders and beers. Meanwhile, I've sampled several of their red wines. There's definitely something for everyone to drink.  Ah, let's talk about appetizers! First up, we enjoyed the crispy fried plantains, which came with sambal cream for a little heat and kick. A crunchy delight!  Ever seen an oversized hushpuppy? We have, at Casa Pearl! These hush puppies were fried perfectly, crispy along the edges, and tender in the center. They were a hit with the whipped honey butter.  Have you tried Casa Pearl's hot sauce? It's the perfect foil to the NC shrimp toast, with its buttery garlicy goodness and rich shrimp flavor. This hot sauce builds slowly, but has some impact. And the toast itself was crispy along the edges.  Now, we specifically visit Casa Pearl for the NC Peel and Eat Shrimp, which is my main dish every time. The J&O seasoning kisses the shrimp with that bayside flavor. The cocktail sauce is not your ordinary sauce. All together, this dish was fragrant and tempting.  My husband, surprisingly, does not eat seafood...often. So it's fortunate that Casa Pearl offers their famous tacos in both a smoked pork and fried chicken variety. His pork taco was topped with crunchy chicharrones and queso fresca.  Hands down, the food is thoughtfully prepared, and delicious! No dinner would be complete without a dessert. For a tropical twist at the end of your menu, be sure to order the key lime trifle. It's a fresh escape bursting with lime flavor! The whipped cream and graham cracker crumbles balance it all. They've done so much with the place, there's oysters all over the landscape which is neat. The food was spectacular. Oysters come arranged from least to most salty which was cool. The names e.g. shoregasm, are funny! We ordered margaritas on the rocks and they were nice and strong. Great flavor to go with seafood. We had brussels sprouts and still trying to figure out how to replicate the recipe at home; they were THAT good! My husbands favorite was the smoked fish dip; he said he could've had a whole bowl of it as his meal. We stopped in for a drink and some snacks at 5:30 on a Thursday evening. At that time there were a handful of open tables and we had no trouble getting seats at the bar. The service was perfect. The hostess welcomed and seated us immediately. Bar staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and checked back with us even when the restaurant got busier. My mulled wine cocktail special was warming and perfectly spiced. My friend said the gin martini was excellent. We shared the char-grilled oysters and hush puppies. Both were outstanding. The char-grilled oysters featuring lemon parsley butter, Parmesan, and a light scattering of minced green onion or chives were fantastic. A couple of drops of the house-made hot sauce (available to purchase) pushed them over the top. Hot from the oil, the hush puppies were creamy on the inside, crunchy on the outside, and had just the right amount of onion flavor. They were also the right size, enough for a couple bites and not enormous. When we left, the bar was full and there was a short line for tables. Prices were reasonable. The space is inviting and comfortable, and has a different vibe from other places in Williamsburg. They don't take reservations so plan to arrive early or, possibly, wait a bit. We come here when we are in town to see what is new and interesting on the menu. Tried the specials, clams chorizo and sea bass. And our favorite menu staple - charred Brussels sprouts. We also split a fish taco. Black Sea bass crudo is raw. Covered in Thai garnishes and surrounded by lemongrass sauce, the sea bass is a bit spicy. Chorizo clams came in the shell and were mildly spicy with a nice warmth. We finished by sharing a fish taco. We were split on the taste. It had a lot of flavors competing against each other. My husband just moved to the area so when we tried to decide on a spot for lunch, we relied on Yelp to find a place. We are so glad we did! Casa pearl was lovely. It has very fun decor, and the staff were very friendly and more that willing to give us recs on stuff to do in the area. We started with the hush puppies, which were large and crunchy. It came with a delicious butter. I also loved the oysters- they were big and briny, just like I like 'em. A little pricey. I got the fresh fish and oyster po-boy tacos which were fabulous! They were packed full of flavor and the fish/oysters tasted fresh. They were quite filling. They do come on corn tortillas and I generally prefer flour, but that's just personal preference.
