Someone recommended that I try the fish sandwich. I came here for a take out lunch. I ordered hush puppies, fish sandwich with fried flounder and steamed shrimp with a side of cole slaw. The other person in my party ordered the fish sandwich with fried flounder and fried shrimp, a whiting taco, and a shrimp taco. The sandwiches had large pieces of fish and thick shrimp. The Bubba sauce which is a remoulade had a little heat to it and was just right for the sandwich to give it moisture and flavor. The food is made to order so allow time for it to be prepared after you order it. Anyway who wants fried food that has been sitting around. The wait was not very long. There are about 9 tables with a window counter. It was busy but not crowded when we went. The service was attentive. Food: My husband and I went to Bubba's Shrimp Shack for Valentines day. We both ordered 24 shrimp, French fries, sweet potatoes fries, and rice pilaf. I noticed some shrimps were small and some were medium. They used to be jumbo shrimp. The rice pilaf was too mushy. They used old and dark cooking oil. It made the shrimp dark in color and salty. Please throw away the cooking oil when it's in the fryer twice in a row. Use jumbo shrimps. We r paying $21.99 for 24 shrimps and sides for $3.49 each! Make our money worth it! read more

I have been to Bubbas multiple time and the past two times the batter used to make my catfish was extremely salty. We told the waitress and she said her shrimp that day was very salty as well. They remade the meal for me but again was very salty. I have complained about the green beans as well being to salty in the past. They have lost our business due to this reason. The hubs and I was in the area, and we ordered a Shrimp Basket to share, which included fries, slaw, and 2 hush puppies. It also came with 2 containers that were generously filled with cocktail and their spicy tartar sauce. The shrimp were not heavily battered, but they were thin and fried perfectly. The size of the shrimp was also surprisingly large - they were so plump, succulent, and juicy - they were probably one of the best fried shrimp we've had in a while! The sauces also pushed them to another level, too! Fries were forgettable, but the slaw was not too overdressed and was a perfect complement to the shrimp. The hush puppies were crispy, and I liked that they had whole kernels within. I'll definitely be back! I'd love to try out their fried fish next time and check out their other side items. Absolutely the best fried Catfish and Shrimp I've ever had. It is cooked to a delicious exterior crunch, but is tender and moist on the inside. The hush puppies were incredible. They were little crunchy balls of cornmeal and dough, with whole corn kernels rolled in. They had a very slight touch of sweetness that balanced the kick in the remoulade sauce (they call it Bubba sauce) perfectly. Their fries were served fresh and were very good. I have no complaints but the coleslaw lacked flavor and could have benefitted from some extra bite and creaminess, perhaps some vinegar or heat, but maybe that is a regional taste thing. Do not understand why catfish basket is suppose to include two sides, but when I looked at the receipt it was $1.00 more than the price on the board. I was told that the sides are 50 cents each. First of all, I had the clam chowder. They should not be allowed to call this chowder it was dirty dishwater potatoes and a couple of clams, not at all what do you expect or hope for. I had the fish and chips and I must say the fish was very good fried nicely hot and tasty.The chips or french fries or average and I only ate a few of them because they weren't that good. My lunch mate had the cat fish and shrimp which were both good, the french fries which weren't that good, and a bowl of dirty dishwater clam soup, which he basically threw away. My son and I stopped in Bubbas Shrimp shack yesterday and had delicious seafood lunch. It is located a bit off the beaten path in a small strip mall in Hayes, VA. Cort and I split the fried shrimp platter $10.99, two tacos $3 ea and a She-crab soup $6. The order took about 10 minutes and it all look hot and fresh. The shrimp were perfectly seasoned and cooked. The yellow sauce was excellent. The she crab was good, but not great. A bit too creamy for me. Slaw, hush puppies and tacos were on point. My favorite was the fried oyster one. DH and I had heard how yummy Bubba's fried shrimp baskets were and found ourselves in White Marsh one day and decided we needed to see for ourselves. We each ordered a shrimp basket with fries and slaw. We ordered at the counter and they were served up made to order pretty quickly. It was love at first bite. Light and crunchy, the shrimp were perfectly cooked. Hush puppy and fries were fairly good as well. I passed on the cole slaw (never been a fan of it) but DH said it was fine. For $22, we had a LOT of very enjoyable food that we were unable to finish for lunch. So we were able to have the rest of it for a hearty snack later. read more
