This is the place to goto in the Williamsburg area if you are craving seafood and awesome service. This Captain George's location has been here since I was a young kid back in the it's. Back then they had their ups and downs and the food and service was a hit or miss - it has come a long way and we'll worth the visit! Our server just happened to be the guy in the Instgram video "if your being chased by someone and they offered you a plate of Captain George's crab legs, then you'd turn around". I can't remember his name but he was on-top of his game!. He kept the drinks refilled, the crab-bucket empty and plates picked up, great service! Now the food, boy was on the same level! The service kept the crab legs container, the Cajun crab legs, crawfish, fried oysters, fried scallops, fried and steamed shrimp filled and fresh! This is one of those restaurants that you have a great experience and will want to visit again. We'll definitely be back!

We had a gone to the location in Myrtle Beach a year ago. With living in Virginia, we wanted to try this location as well. Spencer, our waiter was great! The food overall was tasty. The service from the welcome was top notch. Great job to all!

Had an amazing experience with my family. Went on a Saturday around 7pm during vacation. There were 2 lines - one was for parties of 4 or less, the other for larger parties. We waited less than 5 minutes. The hostess that walked us to our table was so friendly and asked us about where we were visiting from and if it was our first time there. Our waiter was also very friendly. He made sure he checked on us multiple times and was on point with refills and emptying our bowl for scraps. The food was absolutely delicious! Well worth the price! I will be returning again next time I visit Williamsburg.

If you like all you can eat snow crab legs, This Is The Place!! You can eat them to your hearts content, and if you have any room left, there's tons of other things on the buffet as well. It's very clear the crab legs are the star of the show here, tho. They were delicious! All the staff we encountered were wonderful, and our server, Andrew, was excellent. He kept our plates cleared and our drinks filled along with answering any questions we had. He really was delightful! The atmosphere is very nice, as is the decor. It's quite a large restaurant inside and there's plenty of parking. I hear it's understandably very busy in peak season. We arrived shortly after they opened, plus it was the day before NY's eve so it was steady, but not crazy busy. It was very much worth the drive and we hope to return again.

This place is a huge with a really long buffet (70+ items) but you can also order a few items off the menu if you don't want the buffet. It is great for large groups. The food is pretty much what you would expect from a seafood buffet. They have a wide assortment from crab legs to crawfish and a bunch of side dishes and desserts. Nothing is amazing but nothing was horrible either.

My son and I eating at Captain George's pre Mother's Day 2026.

i had not been to captain george's in 7 years because i don't know what happened last time must have been a weird day of the week but the crabs were watery food barred with tiny!! but we went on friday before mother's day to avoid the rush- i forgot what a beautiful place it is and it was packed but there was tons of food for everyone and everything we ate was just fantastic. the crab legs were perfect!! i don't usually like desserts at food bars but they had the best bread pudding and rice pudding!!! the price is around $49 per person. we also evjoyed a couple mixed drinks too - i know mine was perfect and not just one full of ice!! you definitely can dress up a little to go there. we didn't because it was chilly/jackets,etc. . i want to go back when they have blue crabs! i understand it's not often i know i had them when a group of friends from work went one june and they were huge and so good- but i called recently and they said they don't have them often so definitely call first!!! (what a shame virginia is so close to the ocean and the bay and we either can't get good seafood and crab at most restaurants or it's ridiculously expensive). going back soon!!

The Service is always amazing, best way to describe the experience is if you combine Cruise Ship waitstaff with an all you can eat buffet. The food is delicious and always hot and fresh. The main reason I go here is for the crab legs, and the are a 9/10 (only reason it's not 10/10, is the legs are thinner then other restaurants), plus there is a whole bar for non-seafood eaters. But I don't know how that food is. When I go here, seafood is my only thought. Overall, any Captain George's I highly recommend!

I had an amazing time visiting my 3 children and 3 of my four grandkids in Va. For a family farewell dinner we had the opportunity to visit Captain George . Although my children expressed how good it was, it was more than I expected. The food was very good hot an seasoned well. Our waiter was available to provide us with great service. It is pricey for a party of 6 but well worth it. We had to wait short periods for them to bring out more crab, but we didn't mind because they ensured that the crab was hot, tasty and and alot of it. We did like the cajun crab but the were to small. I definitely intend to return on my next visit. Thank you for the family memories.

Wow! Every time I come to a Captain George's I am never disappointed. We went to the one in Virginia beach last year and my fiancé loved it so much we wanted to come back for his birthday this past weekend. An to our surprise there was one a little closer in Williamsburg. Once we arrived on Sunday there was a life all the way down the sidewalk. If you see this DONT PANIC its just because the doors are not open yet but trust me there is enough room and food to go around. Plus they move the line quickly with large parties being in a different line. I totally forgot out waiters name (light skinned young black guy with either dreads or braids)! But man he needs a raise! He was smiling and friendly always coming to check on us just a pleasure to have a round. They have a large selection of baked and fried seafoods and for those who don't like or are allergic to it they have items like fried chicken, turkey, sausage, ham, salad, etc. They also have some great sides like corn, mashed potatoes, broccoli, etc. Some of the food they offer is a little different between locations like the one in VA Beach has steak, pizza, etc. However, it is a free for all when it comes to the crabs and there was an adult take away crabs from her last year. So, the fact that the Williamsburg locations has an attendee there passing out the crab legs and only letting you get so much at a time cuts down on any arguments or attitudes and ensures there is a constant flow. I highly recommend the baked clams, fried oysters, and crab legs! Did i mention they have a dessert bar also? They have everything from bread and banana pudding to fruits, jello, apple cobbler, cheesecake, carrot cake, chocolate, and white cake but my personal favorites are the flan and baklava!

The fresh catch meal included a simple house salad, and it took 30 minutes for the salad to arrive. Shortly after the salad arrived, our meals came out, and they were lukewarm. I had the grilled mahi mahi with lemon dill butter over some roasted fingerling potatoes and corn. While the fish itself was a nice piece and well prepared, its not-quite-warm temperature made it less appetizing to eat. The same was true for our other meals: the seafood pot pie and the mahi mahi fish tacos. While our waitress offered to have them all reheated, we both didn't have time as we had theatre tickets and reheating the tacos with their toppings, the pot pie with its pastry crust, and the seared fish didn't sound appealing. The restaurant's dining room was comfortable, and the bar area looked vibrant. Hopefully they are still breaking in their new facility, as we liked dining with them in their previous location.

We went on a Sunday afternoon at 3 PM and were promptly seated. The atmosphere was fine, pretty open and unexceptional, but modern and new. Big screen in front of us playing the Sunday football game. Server was quick to get drink orders in, 12 oz. Commonwealth Modern 'Smores stout for $8 and my wife got a $16 Peppermint Espresso Martini. I appreciated the nice Commonwealth stout and the price was fine. The Peppermint Espresso martini was mediocre and very overpriced considering that. Our food took a long time. Like 3 apologies from the server long. There were 2 parties of like 10 that were in process when we sat so I get it. But I do feel like something should be given when it's 45 minutes plus on food. Anyway, on to the food.... My kid is not much of an eater and they did not have any type of kid menu. Ended up with a soft pretzel for $13. Add cheese fondue and it's $16. It was very big and delicious.... At $16 it's hard to be excited about it though. The cheese fondue definitely made the pretzel. I was not overly hungry and got She crab soup $8.50 for the cup and a Caesar salad $5. The soup was good, they add the crab on top so you can see they give you about half a cup and for the price it was good. Definitely not the best she crab soup in the area, but good enough. Caesar was just croutons, Parmesan and dressing and was fine. My wife got the "fresh catch" Chilean Sea Bass for $33. It was kind of fishy tasting. Fresh fish is rarely fishy. It was overcooked, horribly plated and the blackened seasoning had minimal flavor. It was bad. We asked for some tarter for it and it made it tolerable. The server offered to replace it, but having just waited 45 minutes for food we weren't going to chance something else, particularly since we were with another couple. While we were waiting I had 2 $3 special Budweisers and my wife had a $14 Snowflake Margarita. They were all fine. My kids sprite was $4 which feels outrageous, but I don't know what places are charging these days for sodas. I normally don't pay attention. Bill came with another apology for all the waiting and no discount. Tough to make it as a seafood restaurant when you are struggling with your seafood. I heard their seafood nachos are excellent.... Maybe I'll give them another chance for those. My first experience was not a good one.

I placed an order for twelve york river oysters, a Bloody Mary, and the fried green tomatoes. The bar was small and intimate with two televisions, both on football games, and other customers who were friendly and social. My drink arrived first, and while very flavorful, for $13, I found it to be on the small side. I've gotten a larger Bloody Mary's of equal quality at other restaurants for less money. I think you should work on either the price point or the portion size here. The oysters arrived properly iced with lemon wedges and generous portions of cocktail sauce, horseradish, and terrific garlic butter. They were perfect. Shortly after, the fried green tomatoes arrived. Such a disappointment. The presentation was excellent, the diced red tomatoes a nice color accent, but the green tomato slices were wafer thin and were overpowered by the pimento cheese, totally wrecking the flavor profile of the dish.....the portion sizes should have been reversed. They were the absolute thinnest slices of tomato I have ever encountered on a serving of F.G.T. The dollar special on the oysters is enough to get me back in, but I will reexamine my menu and drink choices on my next visit.
