This is our go to Chinese spot. It's run by a family and the teen girls help run the front desk by answering phones and cashing people out. It's a typical Chinese takeout restaurant and there now a few tables if you wanted to eat in. I've never seen anyone do that. The food is fresh and broccoli isn't too soft. I like the general tso chicken and it's crispy under the sauce. Food is affordable. read more

China Ocean - General Tso's Chicken - Chinese Near Me - Yorktown, Virginia

My new favorite spot. My wife loves beef and broccoli there. My daughter obsessed with the lo mein noodles. I always try something different from general's chicken to pork fried rice to the beef sticks & egg rolls. Orange chicken is delicious and the Tai chain chicken too. read more

This is the first time I've been to China Ocean. I have never in my life seen such a filthy restaurant. It was so dirty it was almost a joke. I don't know how they pass Inspections. The standards must be very low. If the area that we see is so so filthy, what does the back where food is stored and prepared looking like. Disgusting doesn't cover it. read more

This is the most filthy restaurant ever! The tables, the floor, the walls, the counter and even the phone are grossly dirty! The food was very bland and I ordered a combination meal...There was shrimp, and about 85% onions. Three pieces of carrot, beans, mushrooms. I got white rice instead of fried rice and I didn't get my egg roll with it. Not ever going to order from this place again!!!! Beware people!!! read more

Really delicious well prepared Chinese food with a large number of choices. Their prices are reasonable, especially for lunch times. Their take out service is reliable & timely. It's just a cafeteria style restaurant but enough tables & helpful service if you choose to eat in. I tend to get cravings for some of their traditional Chinese dishes like sweet & sour pork, beef & broccoli, shrimp dishes, but I've tried many of their offerings; each of their well prepared main dishes & sides is excellent & beyond usual types of noodles & rice. It seems to be a mom& pop type restaurant and I've only had take out for dinners. The lunch menu till 3 PM is quite reasonable, a few more offerings for dinner time but always Lots of excellent choices. Nothing fancy, just excellent food! read more

We love this place for decent, consistent Chinese (American-style) takeout. It's the best spot in the area but that doesn't say much really because the other Chinese takeout places in YTown are truly terrible. We love their crab rangoons, and their pork lo mein is realllly good. Egg rolls are good, spare ribs, General Tso's chicken, beef w broccoli. I wish they would take the time to really give the front windows and maybe the rest of the place a REALLY GOOD CLEANING. But we don't eat in anyway, and the family who owns it was a classmate of one of my kids...the family is SUPER NICE, so they kind of get a pass on that from us. **NOTE: CLOSED ON MONDAYS** read more

We ordered a few items and while there the young girl was crying and the other lady perhaps her mother was very rude .She over charged me and when I called back .She acted like she didn't know what I was saying .we live very near there !but won't go back there for sure read more

Decent for take out Chinese Food. We walked in an ordered it so that it would be ready when we left the grocery store. It was kind of on a higher expense end for the quality. We ordered 3 different combos so it included pork fried rice and an egg roll. I like that the chop sticks, sauces, napkins, and forks are out so that you can grab them. We ordered General Tso, Chicken and Broccoli, and Sweet and Sour Chicken. We would probably return if we didn't wanna make dinner and grab it real quick. Give it a try! read more

Best Chinese food we have found in the area. Worth driving the extra 10 minutes from Grafton.

Such great food and service. I always take my food to go, but it's always ready quickly and it tastes amazing!

Me and my family starting going here a lot due to Covid closing our normal restaurant. But we're glad it happened :). This place is awesome. They remember our order with just our phone number, they're so nice in there. The food is the best Chinese food I've had before. If you're ordering during Covid, call your order because it'll take 30mins usually. So worth it. read more

Old chicken that was so tough and inedible in my general tso's it was gross. Low mein with veggies the veggies were extremely overcooked. Spring rolls and crab ragoons were ok The interior of this restaurant was rough even by Chinese place standards. read more

Have to say I am impressed. The place is small and you can tell intended for take out. The food came out fast and was delicious! More authentic than of Chang's or Panda Express for sure. Menu was huge with lots of options. Prices were reasonable and the combination plate was big enough for me to have left overs! The crab ragoon would be my only small gripe as it was more puff pastry with a little of the filling, not enough filling for my favorite taste but that doesn't bring my rating down cause the sesame chicken and fried rice were on fleek/point! Check it out and give it a try for sure, you won't be disappointed!! read more

Very Good Basic Cantonese food! Fresh & Fast. A Pleasant Surprise! If you are Expecting Panda Express... Do EAT here because it is WAY BETTER! read more

We ordered Chinese food from here for the first time today. We typically get Chinese elsewhere but we've been disappointed with our typical spot. We ordered general tsos, lo mein, and crab Rangoon's. The fried rice wasn't too great. The general tsos and lo mein was good. They stuff the boxes with food and the prices are cheap! They gave us tons of crab Rangoon's and they were really good too. Definitely decent food to the value! read more

My husband and I LOVE China Ocean! The best Chinese food in York County. They truly care about their customers, and they treat you like family. The food is delicious! Their lo mein is amazing, and we are addicted to their shrimp toast. We're so happy to see this restaurant thriving. read more

I had been trying to find a decent Chinese restaurant on the Peninsula for a while and coworkers recommended that I try China Ocean. I called in an order and it was ready 10 minutes later. I got the Kung Pao Chicken and it was a ton of food for about $10 which is excellent. It also came with egg rolls. The quality of the food was good too and it was better than other Chinese restaurants I have tried in the area. My only complaint was that the restaurant itself did not looked kind of dirty and the front area itself could definitely use a cleaning. Overall, I would definitely return. read more

Amazing!! This place doesn't look like much when you walk by but it is a delicious and well run restaurant. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and plain lo-mein and i was very pleased. The food came out hot, and is tasted fresh. the employees were professional. I will be back when i'm in the area. read more

Food is great and always consistent. We are not fans of the fried rice but the rest of all items are great. We love the Orange Chicken, the pork Low Min and the Hunan Chicken. Great place for tak our we go once a week! read more

Amazing food, nice service. Just went in there earlier and got my food quickly. Best spring rolls i've ever had by far.

Great food, very good prices, family owned and operated restaurant. We always eat at China Ocean when in Yorktown.

Food taste great. I have ate there twice and had different things each time. They are fast to get the food to you and it just taste the way it should. Perfect for take out. They do have 4 tables if you wanted to eat there but most seem to do take out. I got mongolian beef with white rice. read more

Great place for carry out! Food is always well prepared and hot!!

Meh, this place is pretty average and what has come to be expected from Virginia's 'chinese food' restaurants. They have a good priced lunch menu. I got the schezuan chicken and it came with a can of soda and fried rice for $4.80. They make the food pretty fast and its all very hot when you get it. If you get tired of fast food/burgers for lunch then this place isn't the worst choice in Yorktown. read more

My favorite place for take out! Nothing greasy or questionable in the food. All yummy!

Nothing fancy here. Came here for dinner and got the sweet & sour chicken combo. The combo simply meant you get rice and side of egg roll, no soda go figure. Glad I got the food to go because the lights in the seating area were flickering which was very annoying! Also, the lady who took my order obviously hated her job as she took my order with a monotoned voice and complete lack of enthusiasm. Lastly, the toilet bowl in the restroom was wide open and the space was littered with random boxes. Wish I could say something good about this establishment but the only thing decent was the food. Chinese food is always a good way to satisfy one's appetite. read more

Super lovely staff. Great food! The best dumplings I've had since moving to the area. We ordered delivery for the first time from here at around 9:15, which is 15 minutes after they stop deliveries, but they delivered anyways just for the one time which was super appreciated! read more

I was a little disappointed by the food. The was little to no flavor. I ordered Vegetable Fries Rice and the Orange chicken. Rice was dry and the chicken a little soggy. The staff was very friendly though which is why it's a two star instead of a one. read more

I order my entrees with 'no oil' and they do a good job of making me delicious food that's lighter & so flavorful! Sweet & sour chicken is so crispy, it's difficult to resist sneaking a few pieces! read more

Love me some China Ocean!! The family who runs this business are clearly a family. they have their little girl with them at the business and are putting her to work in a cute way. I love how careful they are with the COVID issues at hand. They are so very careful without being obnoxious. Their food is OFF THE CHAIN FANTASTIC!! Fresh and ample!! The house fried rice is a fan favorite. We will support them again and again. Thank you China Ocean!! read more

We ordered several dishes this afternoon totaling $34.00. I have to report this was some of the worse Chinese food I have consumed, and I have eaten Chinese food in several countries. The egg foo young was overcooked, the beef and broccoli had no flavor, chicken fried rice looked and tasted as though there was little effort to make it appetizing, general tsaos chicken was tough. The place was not busy, so my guess is the food was left over from earlier and reheated. Another observation, the male customer was addressed as sir, but I as a female was given no such respect. Will never, ever order food here again. Will seek out A Chinese restaurant that makes an effort to make tasteful and fresher dishes. read more

I ordered a dish of General Tso and Kung Pao Chicken. The lazy people here took the General Tso, added peanuts and veggies and called it Kung Pao. I also ordered a dish of Mongolian beef and it taste nothing like your normal Mongolian beef. It was pretty much stirfry with oyster sauce. This place sucks! First and last time I will ever eat here. read more

If you're thinking about trying this place it's really good. The amount of food you get for the price is great. And everything tasted very good. The cashier was very friendly. The only downside in my opinion is that it doesn't really have a great atmosphere which is why I took off one star. But if you're looking for some Chinese take out its perfect read more

I've ordered takeout a few times for dinner. I haven't had any issues so far. And the food tastes so good!

Decent taste, decent price, but I was sick for two days after eating from here in November 2012. China Ocean turned my toilet bowl into a Chinese Ocean. Foul. read more

I love the new management! Woman at the front is soooo friendly. Food has gotten even better, but prices did go up a bit from last year.

So fresh and delicious! I tried the spicy beef tonight and was not disappointed. Prompt service and fair prices.

For Chinese take-out, this is the best place in the Yorktown and Newport News area. Don't expect any culinary revelations, just good-tasting Americanized Chinese cuisine at typical prices. The girl at the counter speaks English well and is very friendly so they'll get your order right when you call in. read more

I like the General Tso's better than Main Moon and China Dragon down the street. Fried rice is good. Orange chicken is alright. Egg rolls are good. Typical Chinese restaurant with 4 or 5 tables and mainly caters to take-out. read more
