I've been coming to this place for whole roast chicken to go. Prices has gone up but the taste remains. It's inevitable for prices to change, the economy is changing after all. What I'm satisfied about this place that it kept it great taste. If you're still not one of the many fans of this place, Peking BBQ has one of the tastiest roast chicken you'll ever have in your entire life. I'm not exaggerating. Great rotisserie chicken! I come here only for their chicken and fries. I ordered their half chicken with fried rice platter once, it was whack. Their fried rice is very cheap quality but you can't blame them for the prices they charge. I think it's like 6 bucks a platter. It definitely hits the spot whenever you order half chicken w/ fried rice or fries. The service here is great and the line moves quick. A really great peruvian/chinese take out spot. Kinda run down looking but don't let that deter you. I've only tried three items here but have been consistently ordering the same 3 items for that past few years. First thing to order would be an extra pint or two of their green sauce. Really the best around nyc. But let's just be up front here, when reviews mention there is some secret/crack sauce in a sauce, it's usually a ton of msg or some variant. So be prepared to drink tons of tea or soda to quench that msg thirst after slurping Peking BBQ's green sauce like soup. Next to order is their fried rice. That giant liter sized one. Their fried rice is probably the best chinese take out fried rice around. Rice has some sheen to it, so you know it's oily, many chunks of that cheap roast pork joint chinese tale outs use. Really, what's up with other spots cheaping out on some pork-ish meat. So the set up is ready, already oily rice, lots of roast pork, now pour about half the pint of green sauce on to the fried rice and mix. Think of it as a salad, but better. And of course cop some chicken. Not head and shoulders better than other Peruvian rotisserie chicken, but equally as good. Now pour the rest of the green sauce onto the chicken. Order with the expectation that with this meal you'll end up thirsty and feel the struggle of your blood flow, and you'll be super satisfied read more

I recently moved to Woodside. After arriving here and walking by Peking BBQ, two things came to mind. A. This place looks like a piece of shit. B. There are always people waiting inside. Normally that can only mean one thing.... it's awesome. I've now been in Woodside for about 6 months and I've eaten at PBBQ about 8 times. It's a prefect meal and super cheap. The chicken is succulent and they serve up some of the best fried rice out there. Can't beat this place.... go ahead and order a #1... you're welcome. read more

Delightfully cheap fusion of chinese + latin american rotisserie chicken. 5.50 for 1/4 chick + pork fried rice + salad + green sauce 6.50 for 1/2 chick + pork fried rice + salad + green sauce - much more worth it! Eat part of it for your dinner, save the rest for lunch tomorrow! That comes out to 3.50 per meal on average! not bad. you can substitute the fried rice for french fries in other combo meals but I think the green sauce mixed together with the rice and chicken is deeeeelicious! Totally worth it to get the rice instead of the fries. Also, if you are doing take-out, the green sauce portions are smaller so you may want to shell out 35 cents to get extra green sauce. The chicken meat is surprisingly tender and the skin is crispy. This isn't seriously gourmet where each piece of chicken is cut perfectly. It's fricken 5 bucks for half a chicken...expectations need to be adjusted! There may be some random bones you need to eat around...and you may also have to get down and dirty with your hands to get at all the juicy meat, but that's something a quick wash with handsoap will cure. Other stuff on the menu....but pretty sure everyone just comes here for the chick. 8$ for the whole chicken, no sides. This place is awesome. Always a line out the door. read more

This one is going to be short and sweet: - Awesome food, great value. I fed 5 people for $10 each and we had leftovers. - The chicken and fried yuca were the best things I ordered. - Get the green sauce. Put it on everything. - The staff is busy so know what you want before you walk up to the counter. You'll have a better experience that way. - Don't be thrown off by the appearance, these places all look like this and the food will totally turn that odd decor around. read more

I tried the #7 Chicken and Ribs Combo, which comes with 3 big ribs, a quarter chicken, a generous portion of Pork Fried Rice, and a small salad. I am completely satisfied. Probably the best ribs I've had; same goes for the pork fried rice. I've never ordered chicken from a restaurant that wasn't dry/bland... But their chicken was NOT dry or bland. I'd suggest taking your order to go, as there is nothing about the ambiance here that would help you enjoy your meal more. Although Woodside is a little out of the way for me, I would still make the effort to go back. read more

I believe most of us will be biased toward things we loved when we were young. I know McDonald's isn't the healthiest food choice in the world but I will defend their Happy Meals to the death. Same goes for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, those ridiculous Jansport strings, even more ridiculous Jnco jeans, and Saved by the Bell (even the dreaded new class!). This is why I am biased towards this Peking BBQ place. I remember frequenting this chicken place since I was eleven or twelve. It looks like another Chinese place except the Chinese guys are from South America and speak fluent Spanish, catering to their best clientele. The price used to be like $2.50 for a quarter chicken with fried rice (this is number 3 on their menu). The place used to have all the 'hot sauce' that you wanted for free at all the tables. The interior was not in the best shape but it had its own flavor. Then, for the business sake, the place underwent a minor transformation to make it look more presentable and use technology to take orders and payments. But the food has still remained the same. Number 3 now costs $4.70 (inflation time!) and the chicken/rice combo is as good as I remember. The chicken is as popular as it ever was. There is usually a line during lunch and dinner time and on Sundays after the Catholic church across the street lets out, a vast crowd forms outside Peking BBQ. Most of the clientele are of Latino heritage and if anyone knows rice with chicken, it's the Latinos. The food is all that counts in this place and if you are bold enough, try the 'hot sauce' (spoiler alert: not really hot) and the Colombiana drink. For me, going back to Peking BBQ brings me back to a time where I wondered why my friends preferred Kelly Kapowski over Jessie Spano (I had a thing for Jessie at the time). read more

I've been walking past Peking BBQ for weeks on my way to the laundromat, and you could definitely say it peked my curiosity. From the crowded lines in an otherwise ho-hum area of Queens to the fantastic meat smells wafting around the block, it was only a matter of time before I tried the Chinese/Peruvian fare for myself. The only question I have now is "why did it take me so long?" Went with the #8 (three ribs plus a quarter chicken plus fries) (about $13 after tax) and chose dark meat. When I opened the platter up at home, I knew I was in for a treat. First, the sweet sweet grilled meat smell had made its way into the fries, which were fresh and plentiful. Second, the meat itself looked fantastic. Looks don't always tell the whole story, but thankfully they do here. The St. Louis style ribs were juicy and I got major vibes from the seasoning, which I couldn't put a finger on exactly but might have some five-spice in it? I'll have to return (many times) to get more precise. But the real star was the chicken, if only because it is so freakin hard to find grilled chicken this tender and not-dry. I was blown away. The little container of green sauce that came with my order was decent, but honestly I didn't even need it to enjoy the chicken, and ended up dunking my fries in it. I felt pretty gluttonous having this all to myself, so I shared with my friend; there's definitely enough in an order for two people. Looking forward to trying more combinations, even though I'll be happy with anything as long as it has these meats in it. Safe to say my food search in Woodside has reached its pek(e) here! read more

Let me first start off by saying that if I could give 1/2 stars, I probably would have given this place 3.5 stars instead of only 3. Peking BBQ is this little place in Woodside that looks like a chinese take out place but when you go there - everyone behind the counter is either speaking spanish but don't be alarmed, they really are mexican and you are standing in a place that serves chinese food. It's okay, relax and focus. It's the weirdest thing ever but I guess I should have figured as such since my buddy Vincent Mario Wong is actually a chinese looking guy that speaks more spanish than chinese and makes better arroz con pollo and paella than white rice or egg foo young. Is this why they call New York a melting pot? No but really folks - I'm being serious. So this place is suppposed to have the best roast chicken and ribs in town. I figure, how much better can the chicken be than the dehydrated things you see in Pathmark or Waldbaums sitting underneath the heat lamps with the cardboard tabby holders - garlic or bbq, your choice. Now they even place those heat lamp stations right next to the sushi makers so it seems like you're at Whole Foods but you know dayam well that when you get home, you're going to get a $6 dehydrated whole chicken that looks and tastes like it's been sitting in a cardboard paper bag for the last few hours. I once got one that said the time it was made on the side of the package as he just brought out a fresh batch .... and it was two hours into the future - nice false advertising folks. Okay, so Peking BBQ has lots of different kinds of food but they are famous for their chicken and ribs over rice. You can get a pint of rice, a quart, or a 1/2 gallon which might not look like a lot - but we ordered food for 7 people today and still had some serious leftovers. i mean imagine pork fried rice coming by the 1/2 gallons now - I need to watch Super Size me again to remember why we shouldn't eat so much. We ordered 2 chickens (there's only one flavor - it's called chicken) for $16 which was quartered and 3 orders of ribs which is 5 pretty big ribs for each order for about $8 each. After a closer inspection, they actually gave us an extra 4 ribs so we had more than enough to go around. I was told that I had to get the pork fried rice and since we got the 1/2 gallon I conceded and decided not to order the white rice even though my heart was telling me otherwise. Next time I'm going to order the white rice since that's the only thing Chinese about this place anyway. All in all, I'd say the food was pretty good (even though white rice would most likely have tasted better), the ribs were quite large and juicy and the chicken - even the white meat was very tender and moist. In fact, the chicken was so moist that my fiance Bonnie accidentally over ripped her chicken and due to it's moist-ocity (which is a combination of moistness and elasticity), she accidentally flicked pieces of chicken every where as our friend Jack was just telling a story and he had just said 'You know what would be funny?' Oh man, I really wish I had one of those really stupid, small, and over priced yellow cardboard looking boxes near me because that would have truly been the epitome of a KODAK moment. She managed to get some chicken bits on his face, some chicken juice on his watch, and some rice bounced off his forward. Good thing it was fried rice and not white rice or it might have actually stuck. 'No Jack, what would be funny?' Not exactly a great way to impress Eddie's 'friend' Carmen by embarrassing ourselves with our lack of dinner table etiquette people. Anyway, if you have no intentions of being in the mood for chinese food and you just want some really unhealthy, greasy, bbq chicken and ribs, go to Peking BBQ in Woodside across the street from Carvel, and pick up some food to go. Make sure they give you some of the mild green hot sauce cause it makes it that much better. My friends swear by the pork fried rice but take it from me - the man who is a true Yelper and not just a food critic poser like all of them - go with the white rice. Pork fried rice cooked by Mexicans just doesn't taste the same. I know it's called Mexicanese food but truly - at least they can't go wrong with the white rice. I'm not sure when the next time I will agree to eat like this again because I think I now need to drink an entire kettle of boiling water to wash the coating of fat and grease out of my throat. Oh wait - this isn't the 80's or 90's anymore - I don't own a kettle anymore. Cheers folks and until next time. read more

The fried rice isn't very good and the ribs only serve as a contrast to highlight how amazing the chicken is. This place is literally a hole in the wall, and while there is seating room, the products aren't something you'd really want to eat amongst other patrons. It's the type of food that you'll want to eat either alone or with some friends who won't judge as your stuff your face full of deliciously roasted chicken and pick every bone clean. The sauce is good, but not a must have, and the prices have definitely increased over the years (you'll notice by how many vacations they take). However, I'd say it's definitely worth picking up a whole chicken once a month just to indulge. A few things to note are that they're cash only, and you can ask them to chop it however you like (quarters, halves, or whole are the usual proportions). On a first go, you might as well get a little of everything just to contrast the chicken, but I've since foregone the rest of it. read more

I was skeptical about walking in because from outside looked like a typical Chinese fast food restaurant ( on the bit up and dirty side)... but we spoke to a lady that was waiting outside for her order she said food was good. We ordered lomo saltado, chicken, fried rice and ribs. The winner was the ribs, I will go back just for that. Do u self a favor and order chicha morada or inca with ur peruvian meals. Portions are above average, gotta try green sauce(spicy) ... like I said before this is not a fancy place therefore is good for a quick bite and I mean reallyyyy quick lol I hate the smell of this place. I have been going to this place since 2003. And it has not changed a bit. It still looks crappy and they still have the best rotisserie chicken in NYC. Quite possibly the best I've had too. I usually just come for the chicken and have yet to try other things on their menu. The ribs are okay, but nothing in comparison to their chicken. Plan to come at least an hour before you want to eat. The service is fast but the lines are always incredibly long. Yesterday, I was in line behind a guy who ordered 10 chickens. Come early in comfy shoes and bring a book. You'll be waiting in line for a bit and it will be worth it. Oh and its cash only. Go to the atm. It's worth all of that. read more

I've heard the raves of this restaurant for some time. Given I had a craving for some BBQ I headed over to taste this Asian-Peruvian fusion-esque style of rich flavor. Big lesson in life is to never go in to a place with your hopes held high and great expectations cause that's when things tend to fail. Peking BBQ was a big fail. I'm not saying the food was bad or anything it was just normal and bland. Totally not worth the price. You're better off going downtown in Brooklyn where they have some wonderful Asian BBQ spots. read more

what can i say, Woodside has the best foods? This place has been around for a LONG TIME...so it kinda explains why it looks dingy. But this place is an example of "dingy places have the best food". They're chicken & fried rice is so good that you wonder why can't you eat this everyday. But you can't cuz u'll end up 500lbs. The food is pretty good, especially for the prices.. I always order the Lomo Saltado(beef, tomatoes, onions and papas over rice). My only complaints are that they close really early and the restaurant itself doesn't look the cleanest.. which is why I always took the food to go read more

As I was reading through the reviews for Peking BBQ, I noticed that most people order the #7, which ironically, is the train that you would take to get to Peking BBQ in Woodside. Just a few blocks off the 61st Street Woodside 7 train stop, you'll enter a world of unexpected pleasures. The #7 is an order of a quarter chicken (dark or white meat - your choice), three pork ribs, and pork fried rice. The total cost comes to be around $13. You may think that $13 is way too expensive for a simple fast food meal. However, you will be pleasantly surprised with the amount of food you get which easily feeds two or three people. As for the quality of the food, it is so true that this is the best rotisserie chicken I've ever had, and I've had plenty of supermarket-style rotisserie. The chicken here is rotisserie-style and juicy - both the white and dark meat, and seemingly has been brined to lock in the juiciness. The flavor is through to the bone. The skin is not crispy, but springy, but after tasting the meat, this isn't much of a shortcoming. As for the spare ribs, after reading the menu, I thought we would get three measly, skinny Chinese restaurant-style spareribs. After seeing what we got, I can say that you can get full on eating only ONE sparerib. The meat on the top and bottom portions of the sparerib must have been at least a quarter inch on either side. The length of the rib included the soft bone parts on the tips, which made for lots of meat. The meat was also well brined and tender to the bone. I could tell that while cooking the fat was rendered off and the meat was never greasy. It is amazing how they could make a non-greasy, yet tender rib. By the way, the ribs are not sauced and served was they were out of the oven. A green sauce was provided, but since the chicken and ribs were so good on its own, why bother? Now for the pork fried rice, I can say that it is categorically not greasy. I felt it was well made in the style of old Cantonese American restaurants. The char siu was cut up into tiny bits, not cubed and still had a distinct char siu flavor. The medium grain rice was fried up in lo chau, Chinese dark soy sauce. There wasn't anything else added to this simple dish. I liked it for its simplicity and was a compliment to the ribs and chicken. All in all my experience was good. I knew it would be a long wait for my food because of the incessant lines I see every time I pass Peking BBQ. It seems that those in the know don't worry about the lines and are willing to wait to get their roast meats. Mine took nearly 15 to 20 minutes to get, but at least you are given a ticket so you never lose your place in line. Coming here and waiting is well worth it. read more

Delicious chicken, moist and tender with yummy skin! The green sauce on the side is a tasty dipping sauce. The ribs are nice, not a lot of BBQ flavor but tasty none the less. The fried yucca....surprisingly not oily and really good. The rice and beans is OK...the beans are the soupy type..)lotta sauce and not alot of beans) The salad is just a bit of iceburg and a touch of tomato and maybe cucumber topped with a hint of french dressing. This place is also VERY consistant in quality...I have been coming here for 10 years!!! read more

Not exaggerating when I say this is my favorite place to eat around here and in general. Best rotisserie chicken I've ever had, hot sauce is so good (be sure to buy extra, it's worth the 50 cents). Cash only and usually a 10 or so minute wait, but totally worth it. read more

We had the mango slushies the first time, and the only drinks available was whatever bottle drinks they have in the fridge. Mind you, they dont serve you water, so you have to get drinks since the food is garlicky or spicy. We wound up getting the milk tea ice rice this time. It was ok. I never tried it, but the rice is a bit hard. I won't order again. Best dish is large eggplant. Very flavorable, maybe a bit too garlicky. Will order this again. Also, the chicken wing is huge, for the price of $3 each. Thats why we ordered 2 chicken wing this time. But, I think it wasnt grilled as nice as my first time. Still good since it is a lot of meat for the price of $3. Lotus root is also pretty good, glazed with sugar. The worst i would say is the lamb, a bit too chewy, lack of flavor. The bathroom has all sorts of postcard of famous album. I found that pretty neat. Lastly, I think the squid tentacles is much smaller than before.

It was so cold out the night I went so I was very happy they kept it nice and warm inside the restaurant. There's a very large selection of skewers, they have basically everything you could want. I especially appreciate that you can order just one of any skewer, unlike some other places where certain types only come in orders of 3 etc, allowing you to order a large variety even if you're dining alone. The seasoning was delicious, and every skewer was not coated in identical seasoning. None of it was spicy at all if that's what you're looking for, but none were lacking in flavor. The meat was juicy and you could taste the smoke from the grill. I loved the different textures of vegetables which were all well cooked. I'm still thinking about the crunchy exterior of the rice cake. I think my favorite skewer was the lotus root, which was perfecting complimented by the seasoning mix. An amazing meal! 16 skewers came out to less than $50. I look forward to returning!

She came with her mother and I got a super sweet shot of them. I got there a little before noon. They were still getting set up so waited outside for a short time. They were kind enough to let me use the restroom first. Immediately I met Amanda and Bernice. We all started talking and learned they were Yelp Elites like me and since I was by myself I asked and joined them. They are so nice! We walked around the whole venue and being Yelpers I found our taste in food was similar. We all wound up liking the same vendors. So stuffed! Portions were generous! Since we were VIP we had the place to ourselves for the first hour before general public at 1pm. We tried the vendors who were ready and went back to try those we passed since they weren't ready. It was a pretty big space with indoors and outdoors. It was a nice sunny day so a bit hot already but we would cool off in the shade. There was also an array of sauces to choose from, where there are plates and small containers to fill up on their special BBQ sauces (their labels will tell you which ones are spicier!). I had ordered a can of Cherry Coke and a Combo 2, which includes 2 meats and 2 small sides. For the meats, I chose 1/3 lb Burnt Ends and 1/4 lb Brisket. Both were extremely tender and delicious, and full of flavour! For my sides, I went with Mac and Cheese and the Collard Greens. The Mac and Cheese feels so classic and amazing, and the Collard Greens were very flavourful. We couldn't finish everything so we took some lids and boxes to bring the rest home, and I can't wait to come back here some other time and try more things!

It was my first time having Chinese BBQ cart skewers and I was an instant fan. I've gone back a bunch, taking other people with me. By far my favorites are the lamb, pork, and enoki mushroom, ordered spicy of course. The lamb is so tender, and the mushrooms are just so fun to eat. They're slippery, they are hard to chew, they don't break apart, they get stuck in my teeth, and I end up swallowing large bites which are covered in that spicy sauce and make me choke and...I just love it! I can't explain it, there's something about the chewiness and heat that while inconvenient, I really enjoy. The beef is also solid. The squid is OK. The chicken gizzards are not bad, I'm still developing a taste for them but they are not overcooked and tough here. The only thing I'd say to skip are the shrimp, they come out with their shells still on and are just rubbery. Cash only, if it's not obvious. If you buy something like $20 or more they give you a free soda. They have some stools set up if you want to eat it right there, but they're usually under the awning of New Golden Sparkling market and well, there's a lot of birds and bird poop there. I would just walk with it. There are lots of BBQ carts up and down Broadway, but I think the meat here is the best (not tough or fatty), and the service is always great. The main guy manning the grill doesn't speak too much English, but there's usually a younger guy helping him who does. Even without the help, ordering is easy, you just say the type of skewer you want, how many, and if you want it spicy. If you're really struggling, point! But it's never come to that.

Their price points are pretty high for Elmhurst (where most restaurants haven't raised the prices the way Chinatown or Flushing have, luckily), and their food is just OK. I mainly go for the sake of eating something I'm familiar with my whole life, and people I can still speak the language with. My parents go to their Flushing location and said that the quality has fallen since covid.
