Probably the best Korean chicken I've had in awhile. I always get their boneless and have experimented on their sauces. I think the best combo for me is the spicy dry rub paired with Korean sweet chili and the jalapeño mayo sauces. I also recommend their fried kimchi dumplings which is fried to perfection in its crunchiness. It's a small spot outside food bazaar and you can only dine in at the food court, but I love close enough where I could order delivery and it's still hot and the chicken is crunchy without any sogginess, I highly recommend this Korean chicken a try! We got a five piece boneless combo that comes with a soda, coleslaw, and a choice of one side. The coleslaw is just cabbage but not bad tasting. The boneless chicken is juicy. I've been coming to Rokstar chicken since it opened at Food Bazaar. I usually get the tenders because I'm a "white meat" person. My choice of sauce is typically the soy garlic BBQ, but the Korean sweet chili is my next option. You can get it tossed or on the side, but I tend to get it tossed to avoid one extra step of dipping. Chicken tenders were HUGE and very juicy. White meat tends to dry if overcooked, but these tenders are not. The kimchi fried rice is delicious, too! It's not too spicy and has lots of flavor for each bite because the added spam is a game changer. Their chicken wings and drumsticks are good, too! The original is very juicy and well-seasoned. I haven't tried all the sauces, but the staffing are very friendly, so if you're unsure which sauce to get, ask them. I typically tolerate medium levels of spice and this was starting to get to me. The Wings are crispy yet drenched in the Hot Soy Garlic flavor. I ate it right away so the wings still retained the crispiness but not for long. The Cajun Garlic Fries also had a bit of a kick to them; I didn't get much garlic taste, it was mostly just the cajun powder. I also SO appreciate that the worker let me swap the coleslaw it typically comes with for pickled ginger. When I first tried it at the Douglaston location, I was in love so I'm glad that they're opening up in more locations! This spot was different in that they have a shop on the outside of Food Bazaar and it's more like a concession stand. All orders are to go, and they package it nicely so that the chicken remains crispy. However, if you do want to eat it right away, there's a food court in this Food Bazaar (on the left of the entrance) with plenty of seating. It is a bit loud with people shopping around, but you can enjoy the fried chicken fresh. I love getting their wings cause it's always big pieces that are fried to perfection. I tried their boneless chicken this time around and these were also huge pieces of dark meat that was very tender on the inside. My favorite seasonings/sauces have to be the cajun garlic, soy garlic, and hot soy garlic. They also recently came out with a honey butter seasoning that you can choose for your fried chicken or fries! It's everyone's favorite honey butter chips but paired with fried chicken! Make sure to try out the new jalapeño mayo sauce as well. It's not spicy at all and very creamy, serving as a delicious dip for fried chicken, fries, or even their other sides! It's really hard to find perfectly crispy and juicy Korean fried chicken and Rokstar definitely delivered. Amazing on all ends - even their fries and fried shrimp were fantastic! I would say I wish they had more to offer, but it's obvious that having a small menu has yielded the great result of them having mastered a supremely tasty crunch and flavor (try the chicken tossed in their Korean sweet chili sauce!). First time, my bf brought some chicken from Rokstar as it was next to a singas pizza. He just thought, why not!? Plus it's halal! He ONLY brought a bucket of 20 piece chicken, which was sauced with soy garlic BBQ. He brought it home and it was still good! It wasn't super hot but still hot enough. The chicken itself was moist and was not dry at all. The batter wasn't super crispy but just enough that there are crispy pieces and you won't hurt yourself from eating the chicken. Yeah, your grandma can eat it and shouldn't have a problem. The outside layer of skin and sauce was SOOO good! It has such a sweet taste but not overly and sickeningly sweet. It really went well as a whole. We had singas but I just pushed those pies aside to devour the chicken. The second time was last night. We ordered the chicken with soy garlic bbq sauce, onion rings and kimchi dumplings. I'm not going to go over the chicken cause it was as good as the first time!!! To ensure there's some balance, eat the pickled radish. It's very good. The onion rings were good, they weren't super crispy since we ordered take out but it was still decent enough. If you threw them in the air fryer, they should crispy up nicely. The kimchi dumplings were BOMB! They were fried and came with 6 in an order ( I believe?) They have a kick due to the kimchi but they were very good. I'm happy they even offered kimchi dumplings since a lot of chicken places, don't. Just usual pork dumplings and whatnot. Had never heard of this fried chicken place. WE were driving and saw their gigantic, red sign at the Food Bazaar on Northern Bvd (around Steinway in LIC/Astoria area). Hey, it's fried chicken! We had to give it a go. To our surprise, the place is basically just a take out stall. No dining in. Oh, wells! Got a whole fried chicken and a side of fries. It was around $50 (sorta pricy if you ask me). You get to select two sauces for your chicken. We went with the soy based one and the sweet chili one. "Someone" chose to go with the Honey Butter Fries. The chicken was "OK". Def. not like Popeyes (overly battered), closer to KFC. The sauces... they were both sweet (as for many things with Korean marinade), not gonna lie, I hated the chili one. It, IMO, had a hint of kimchi flavor to it. The soy one was sort of a 5/10 when I first started eating it... but it sort of got addictive when I combined it with the Honey fries, lol! I had totally not expected this location to have been in a shack in a shopping center parking lot with no seating and that I'd be eating my chicken on the sidewalk at like 9pm but it was an experience indeed. The girl at the register was absolutely stellar, extremely bubbly and warm and answered all questions with a smile. She was probably the best part of all this. Some of the menu is actually now halal which was why I was so eager to come and try some legit Korean fried chicken. The food actually took a while coming out to the point I thought maybe they were slaughtering the chicken fresh in the back or something. Jokes aside, it came out piping hot. I've seen this place for the longest time while walking in to Food Bazaar and finally decided to make an order online to go while shopping. I ordered the 5 piece dark boneless (spicy) with Hot Soy Garlic BBQ on the side with fries. First of all, the turn around time was great because it was ready in less than 15min. I'm going to chalk that up to it being the middle of the day because there were occasions the line trailed at 10-20 people. I did not get the food as soon as it was prepared because I was still shopping however, the chicken still had some crunch to it and was not soggy. The spice permeated through each bite! I'm glad I got sauce on the side because I was able to adjust how much flavor without it possibly being drenched. The spicy was sweet, hot, and spicy! Not a burn your mouth spicy but a nice heat with flavor. I had shoe strong fries but there other options available on the menu. Again, not super crunchy/crisp because of the time it took me to pick up my order but still tasty and not mushy. Cole slaw gets no rating from me because I don't care for cole slaw, lol. They do not sell the sauces individually (yet). My wife spoke to the gentleman at the counter who said it is something they might be working on. The gentleman at the counter was very nice and professional. From my view in to the cooking area everything appeared clean with no observable unsanitary conditions. Fried well definitely get the sauce on the side. We had ranch (not great) and spicy ranch (slightly better) The fries had seasoning but weren't flavorful The boneless wings are thighs but we're hard to cut through with all of the sauce and weren't cleaned well a lot of the connective tissue and fatty parts were still there same goes for the sandwich it's the same meat maybe it would have been different if we didn't have the sauce on it. The bread was soggy the coating was soggy just not a great experience. I know, it seems like there's one on every corner these days, and trust me, I know because I've tried most of them. This spot just hits different. We got the whole chicken in two of the traditional KFC flavors (Korean Sweet Chili and Soy Garlic BBQ) and they did not disappoint. I love how they don't overdo the breading the way some spots do, and I don't know what they're doing to the chicken but it's so juicy with a perfect amount of crisp when you bite into it. The amount of breading and level of frying is obviously a highly controversial topic that can make or break relationships so we may want to agree to disagree, but I think something we can all agree on is that the chicken here is damn good regardless of how much or how little breading they use. The chicken sandwiches were also a must-order, and if you're a chicken sandwich enthusiast you won't want to miss Rokstar's take on this classic entree. The same delicious chicken that I just mentioned, except this time there's cole slaw drizzled on top, all nestled in a pillowy soft bun.
