Not the most amazing bbq spot but I find myself here way, way, way too often because it's such an optimal hangout spot, especially when you have a big group of people. I can't believe I've never written a review (maybe because I wrote one for Studio Square and in some way, I am still very much grieving its shuttering after all these years), but it's a solid spot and has carried on Studio Square's legacy. I've come here for various outings over the years and the casual, counter-style setting always works out perfectly for those big group settings. If you're from the South, obviously don't expect the bbq to be mind-blowing - it's simply a chill place where you can get fat and drink and not feel too bad about spending a lot of money and vibe at the same time. It's a great place to watch sports, too. I've pretty much tried every side and meat they have to offer and the brisket always wins (pulled pork is a close second, though way too saucy for my liking). I've never been too crazy about any of their sides, though their potato salad is nice, at times. Pig Beach is a VIBE for sports watching. We went to watch the Mexico-Ecuador game, and it was already at standing room only capacity at 7pm for a 9pm start. My friends and I were raving about the food; I especially loved the wings and the mac n cheese. It's pretty fairly priced as well. Our drinks were also good; we had margaritas all night. I was one of the lucky few who won the Chili Cook off at Pig Beach with Yelp. My first time so was shocked when Samantha messaged me to say I won. She came with her mother and I got a super sweet shot of them. I got there a little before noon. They were still getting set up so waited outside for a short time. They were kind enough to let me use the restroom first. Immediately I met Amanda and Bernice. We all started talking and learned they were Yelp Elites like me and since I was by myself I asked and joined them. They are so nice! We walked around the whole venue and being Yelpers I found our taste in food was similar. We all wound up liking the same vendors. So stuffed! Portions were generous! Since we were VIP we had the place to ourselves for the first hour before general public at 1pm. We tried the vendors who were ready and went back to try those we passed since they weren't ready. It was a pretty big space with indoors and outdoors. It was a nice sunny day so a bit hot already but we would cool off in the shade. I rarely venture out to this area, but came here for a birthday celebration. The space is huge, but still packed on a Saturday night. It's great for large groups as ordering is cafeteria style and there's multiple bars throughout the space. I got the Meat & 2 for $28, which includes a meat and 2 sides. I got the 1/2 Rack of Ribs, which were tender. I was between that and the brisket and glad the server recommended the ribs for me. For the sides, the mac and cheese were delicious and purple coleslaw had lots of dressing yet still refreshing. Overall, the meal was delicious but a bit pricey for one. I also got myself a Surfside ($9) in a can, which I enjoyed. One thing I do have to note is how confusing ordering can be. My boyfriend and his family raved about this place to me, so of course I had to come here with them to experience it myself! It was definitely an experience walking in as it felt super chill and casual, and you order at the counter as though you were a high school kid in the cafeteria during lunch time, which I thought was kind of fun! There was also an array of sauces to choose from, where there are plates and small containers to fill up on their special BBQ sauces (their labels will tell you which ones are spicier!). We went to Pig beach BBQ for trivia night and it was pretty awesome, the places were not packed at all which I believe is the opposite from Summer time! There is a separate line where you order food and later pay for it and there is also plenty of room to join! The trivia night was hosted by nexus and it was definitely so much fun. The host was really entertaining and I love that Pig Beach does that! Ambiance and food were delicious, the brisket ought to be hotter, I would suggest to add some warm honey to the cornbread. The large backyard is popular in warmer temps and they sometimes have sports games on a large screen back there. You order food cafeteria style, with beverages and desserts available to order at the register. For alcoholic beverages, go to the bar. I really liked most of the food I've tried here. My go-to are the hot honey dry rubbed wings. Some days/times there are really good wings specials but this visit (large group for a birthday) they were regular price. Liquor and cocktails here are thend to be a little overpriced for what you get, but I'm unable to drink beer. Spontaneously I decided to check out this eatery that has a reputation for great BBQ. I mean when you look up or ask about BBQ this establishment comes up a lot. On the approach it appeared unassuming. It wasn't trying to work you from the outside. Right as I enter the place expands right before my eyes with a warm industrial feel. I must have been walking for quite some time because mental exhaustion accumulated it seems. I was like one of those silly people you smile at so they don't think you're secretly judging them. The staff was nice and helpful however which was a good start. They directed me how to order and even didn't laugh at my dumb questions. The bartender was super helpful as he was the first one I stumbled upon. Down to the meat of the experience (pun intended). The brisket sandwich was perfect. The brisket itself the star of the show. Sweet, savory, meaty, fatty and somehow also crispy. The beans with pork were great too. Might be the best brisket I've had in a long time or ever. Washed it down with a 7 dollar IPA on tap. Oh did I mention it's 5 dollars between 3-6 pm? Well I kinda wish I had a late lunch but based on everything so far I will be coming back for that. Lovely lunch and back to the bartender as he was very nice and accommodating as I sat there like I never had BBQ before. Just wrapped a photo shoot next door and this Texas boy had to try the nyc bbq. The staff was friendly and helpful. One guy in the service line was wearing a Terry Blacks BBQ hat which is in Dallas. The BBQ ribs were tasty and tender. They needed no extra sauce, and Pig Beach BBQ makes five free sauces that customers can add on. I tasted all five, and I like the Tangy Vinegar and the Classic BBQ sauce the best. The Gowanus Cold Beer that I ordered from the bar perfectly counteracted the richness of the ribs. At my request, a server gave me a sample of the Mac and Cheese. It tasted like Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. I did not like it. I also asked for a sample of the Beef Brisket (salt and pepper crust). It was much too salty and peppery for me. My order of cornbread tasted like it was made from a box. The key lime pie was a tad too sweet. My family decided to watch Mex vs. Ecu here for the World Cup and had such a horrible experience. Security, management, and staff have no control over the population that enter in their venue. Seats are very limited & once you enter it is a free-for-all. Waiting on line will feel like forever, because staff isn't monitoring the amount of people skipping. Once capacity was reached, my family wasn't allowed in after waiting +2 hours. By the end of the night, fights broke out between the losing team, and people were injured. Each time, it was on a weekday evening, and it wasn't overly crowded. Plenty of seating available. They have a huge menu; something for everyone! I always go for the half rack or ribs but one day, I'll try their many other meats. Don't snooze on their corn bread! Pig Beach is a giant beer and BBQ restaurant. The indoor space is huge but even then, when we went on a Saturday evening, it was packed. There was a range of picnic benches and tables. Our party of 5 got lucky and we managed to snag a picnic table after maybe 10 minutes of waiting. Lots of people were having birthday parties or the like. This came with a lot of young children in the establishment which by itself is fine. I just wish their parents/guardians could've stopped them from running around the place, literally running into people... At the bar, you can order beer and cocktails. For the food, you order the food at the counter, after which you pay for it and eat it elsewhere. There was a range of sauces at the end of the checkout line. There was water available for free. Overall, the food was good, albeit a bit pricey. If you're a BBQ aficionado, don't expect top notch BBQ. This is the northeast after all. We thought the meat could've been a bit more tender. I came here on a Thursday afternoon with my mom. We were celebrating her job's last day of the school year with friends. This place is great for a big hangout and events.
