I would gave them a 2 star for yesterday's experience. First, the place was empty on a Friday night at 10:00pm. Probably have 3 takeout order while we were sitting down. The first time I went was on a weekday night back in December, and there were more patrons. Not sure if the place is going down hill, but they dont have slushies anymore. We had the mango slushies the first time, and the only drinks available was whatever bottle drinks they have in the fridge. Mind you, they dont serve you water, so you have to get drinks since the food is garlicky or spicy. We wound up getting the milk tea ice rice this time. It was ok. I never tried it, but the rice is a bit hard. I won't order again. Best dish is large eggplant. Very flavorable, maybe a bit too garlicky. Will order this again. Also, the chicken wing is huge, for the price of $3 each. Thats why we ordered 2 chicken wing this time. But, I think it wasnt grilled as nice as my first time. Still good since it is a lot of meat for the price of $3. Lotus root is also pretty good, glazed with sugar. The worst i would say is the lamb, a bit too chewy, lack of flavor. The bathroom has all sorts of postcard of famous album. I found that pretty neat. Lastly, I think the squid tentacles is much smaller than before.

I couldn't be happier with my experience here…read more The service is friendly and the QR code ordering system is very convenient. It was so cold out the night I went so I was very happy they kept it nice and warm inside the restaurant. There's a very large selection of skewers, they have basically everything you could want. I especially appreciate that you can order just one of any skewer, unlike some other places where certain types only come in orders of 3 etc, allowing you to order a large variety even if you're dining alone. The seasoning was delicious, and every skewer was not coated in identical seasoning. None of it was spicy at all if that's what you're looking for, but none were lacking in flavor. The meat was juicy and you could taste the smoke from the grill. I loved the different textures of vegetables which were all well cooked. I'm still thinking about the crunchy exterior of the rice cake. I think my favorite skewer was the lotus root, which was perfecting complimented by the seasoning mix. An amazing meal! 16 skewers came out to less than $50. I look forward to returning!

It was definitely an experience walking in as it felt super chill and casual, and you order at the counter as though you were a high school kid in the cafeteria during lunch time, which I thought was kind of fun! The menus are above and definitely legible and easy to follow along, and the staff were friendly and helpful as we figured out what we wanted. There was also an array of sauces to choose from, where there are plates and small containers to fill up on their special BBQ sauces (their labels will tell you which ones are spicier!). I had ordered a can of Cherry Coke and a Combo 2, which includes 2 meats and 2 small sides. For the meats, I chose 1/3 lb Burnt Ends and 1/4 lb Brisket. Both were extremely tender and delicious, and full of flavour! For my sides, I went with Mac and Cheese and the Collard Greens. The Mac and Cheese feels so classic and amazing, and the Collard Greens were very flavourful. We couldn't finish everything so we took some lids and boxes to bring the rest home, and I can't wait to come back here some other time and try more things!

They lacked the buffalo taste though, they were more on the sweet side. Not very crispy, from sitting in the box, it produced steam. But they weren't too bad. Collard greens: 10/10 the best collard greens I've tasted from any restaurant, hands down. The service was good. 8/10 The ambience was decent. 7/10 Alot of construction workers come here, they can be loud and a bit over bearing but thankfully the restaurant was spacious so we changed our seats to the back of the restaurant.

(Just off the 7 /or walk from the Q104 / R,M - Northern Blvd. to Q18) It was just okay, not Amazing by what the socials say. Had the ($21) 1/4 Chicken & Ribs Plate, they threw in an extra 1/4. (I was overwhelmed at first and ordered a plain quarter chicken (dark meat) & 3-rib plate. The cashier was nice enough to recommend the #8 combo (1/4 Chicken, 3 Ribs) instead.) The cut of ribs were good but slightly dry. Was recommended the beans (good) with white rice (dry) by the cashier. Dark meat was the best. First bites of the white meat & ribs were dry, but got better towards the middle. The green sauce was watery and didn't have much flavor. Not sure why everyone raves about green sauce. Was expecting Mama's Empanadas level, but this was 1/4 of that flavor. The Cantonese-speaking cashier was so nice & chill! Communication was easy (English, Cantonese, or Spanish) & they had a steady flow of customers, of all backgrounds. I would get the food to go, the dining area is one long, narrow room and for whatever reason the floor was very wet. I guess it's good that they mopped at 4 PM? There were a few guys that were either workers or hanging out at the far back tables, one or two middle-age couples dining in. It was just kind of a sad ambience. The cashier recommended the Lomo Saltado next time. Maybe I went at a slow time, 4 PM Friday. First bite of food at home was decent, but nothing overwhelming. I would stick to all dark meat! Reheat the pink beans at home. Glad that they usually get their workers two weeks vacation (as per a sign in 2022) - shows that business is good! *Didn't realize they're connected to Caravan Chicken in Astoria. Might try them (closer to me) to compare.

While waiting I checked out the restroom and found it unpleasant. Thinking I'd have my food ready by the time I returned and no drinks and no food yet. The waiting continues - 4:30 I finally get our drinks; had to send the marg back - I think they forgot the alcohol in it. Still waiting on food; one hour later after being seated - still waiting on food. I mean if this is how Dallas BBQ wants to present themselves there's certainly much room for improvement. Food quality was great, my steak was cooked to order; shrimp and ribs were hot and delicious. Just needs some improvement in order taking and getting the drinks out as fast as possible. That would make a huge difference in the experience. Ambiance was fine; it was comfortable and the music was decent elevator noise. Things I'd like to see improved - times between first touch to customer - once you get the drink orders and bring the drinks be ready for the food order. Don't take forever to speak to the customers about their needs. Definitely would be a 3 or 4 stars if service was faster. Maybe we just had a newbie waitress

Suadero is another not to be found commonly - it is one of the most delectable and succulent tacos which I've ever encountered. Red sauce has a really nice fresh strong heat. Green has a flavour which I cannot immediately discern amongst the glorious peppers... Buche. Who sells that at your local taqueria?! Again- not this side of the border. I had to look it up why lie? The Cebollitas are incredible. Bite into the bulb and suck out the meat - it's more like a leek. Sweet. Earthy. Delicious. Those are just the things which one normally does not see outside of Mexico. Or, at least in most NY Taquerias. All of the regulars are there, waiting, begging.... Go late. There's a definite Mexico City feel- between the cavorting, hookers, and constant noise. The various food smells, the little bit of English heard, brown bagging...and sometimes a bit of chaos. This ain't your safe and cushy NY- this is a piece of the underbelly. I'll be back before I lose the smell of onions, cilantro, and assorted taco meats from my fingers.

Even though this vendor sells tacos pequeño (small tacos, 2-3 bites), they are $3-4 each, which is not cheap. For that reason, I can't give them 5 stars. It's quite pricey considering that most full size tacos are selling for about $4.50-5.50 nowadays on the streets, but double in size. With that said, I appreciate the smaller size for me to enjoy more variety every time I stop by. My favorites change from visit to visit, but generally I always get Suadero (roast meat), Campechano (roast meat & sausage), Buche (pork stomach), Cabeza (beef head), and Lengua (beef tongue). I also like the extra weird parts like Cesos (beef brain) and Ojos (beef eye). However, the texture is very mushy and definitely not for everyone. As accompaniments, for every two tacos you order, they also give you a long stem onion that is quite tender and delicious. On the down side, instead of the traditional lime and radish that most places give, Tacos El Borrego offers lemon and cucumbers. I'm not sure why, except maybe they are cheaper options than the normal garnishes. Also, don't forget the flavorful green and red sauces on the table if you are eating there. Otherwise, ask for some to go. I miss the days when our group of friends would get a few tacos late at night after a party or night out drinking. The prices are no longer the same, but the food is still perfect for sobering up while having some laughs on the streets during the warm months. I think back to those days fondly whenever I'm at a taco stand nowadays, and Tacos El Botrego is one of my favorites in NYC.
