Went through the drive thru and politely responded to the feminine voice over the speaker with a yes ma'am. When I get to the window, the individual who felt offended had a coworker confront me in front of my kid and accused me of wrong doing. They tried to push gender politics and instead of responding, I ignored the guy before driving away. Someone wants me to call them a particular pronoun, I do it if there is mutual respect. But don't push your world views on me, especially when I'm trying to get a cup of coffee and a hot chocolate for my kid who is too young to be hearing stuff like that. Peet's coffee ain't that good. This Peet's location is so fancy that it definitely calls for a nice review. It's located on a busy corner on Webster Street with it's own parking lot. The space is HUGE and always bustling with students and people trying to get some work done. For me, it's a great meet up spot to grab a coffee with a friend. I also enjoy sitting by the windows to people watch sometimes. I like all the artwork and decor on the walls. The overall vibe of this location is very trendy and a great addition to the West End. Another reason why this Peet's is unqiue is that it has a drive thru option. This is great for those morning coffee runs before work/school or when you are short on time and don't want to go inside. Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area! NOTE: There has (UNFORTUNATELY) been quite a few recent instances of laptops getting stolen on the island at coffee shops. I would suggest staying inside if you have electronics and please be mindful of your surroundings. Don't leave things unattended - it's not worth the risk! read more

I visit this location frequently and find that the sequestration of one of the bathrooms soley for the employees to be impractical and has created uncomfortable interactions. This action has forced mixed use of the other bathroom which would not be an issue if it was a single stall , but it isn't. read more

This is the best Peet's hands down. The cold brew here is better than any other location, nutty, chocolatey, and rich -- I don't know what they do differently here, but it's always good. The baristas are professional and thoughtful. Olliver and Tay treat my kids like important customers in their own right, even though they order from the back seat. I'm not a coffee drinker but for a while I got into a hot chocolate kick and was going to get one in the morning almost every day. At the beginning they were delicious, hence I came back, but in 3 instances they got my drink wrong and gave me some sort of coffee drink instead and since I was going through the drive through the first 2 times I didn't even realized it until I was many blocks away. It was so frustrating to have to not be able to come back to get my drink fixed. After the third time I decided to no longer come back. I also noticed I had to often ask for my drink to get stirred otherwise the chocolate would sit on the bottom and my hot chocolate would just taste like milk. New manager is rude. New policy is no coffee refills unless you stay at the store (and this during the COVID pandemic!). I've been getting refills there for the past 6 months. I've been here multiple times now. I really enjoy it. It's clean, they have really delicious menu items. The coffee and espresso drinks taste much better than their competitor across the st. I am so glad they replaced burger king with a more sightly Pete's. My two favorite drinks are the dark chocolate pumpkin mocha (seasonal) and the Panada, Pinguin, Oreo, Tuxedo mocha..... This Peet's Coffee is awesome and very nice inside the best one I seen in the Bay Area and great service. I was greeted by a young man named Desmond. Desmond had a smile and was very willing to help. I seen the pastries were low and I wanted a specific type and before I took my eyes off of them he asked what would I like I said a specific pastry and his response was I will find one. I felt like he wanted to take care of me. For being a young man he was very mature. I wish I received service exactly like this more often. I was super impressed . Nice job Desmond . Okay, I completely understand that Peet's handcraft each drink individually to order. That being said spending 25 minutes in the drive thru with only 3 cars ahead of me is absolutely ridiculous. The coffee is great. The service is bad. Like real bad. I've used the drive thru a couple times here @ this location and every experience was terrible. Employees in the drive thru lack social etiquette, & customer service. I was offered my receipt, which I agreed to & the employee handed it to, & as he attempted to hand it to me-he crumpled the receipt in front of my face. Now that was insanely rude. Does anyone need a review for a Pete's? Well, one experience to share that (I'd like to think) is specific to this location. True to form, one member of the Pete's team decided to sleep-in on Saturday morning and the line inside the cafe was crawling. I exited, got back in my car and was immediately served at the drive-through. Not to be picky but I can be. I loathe it when people smoke around me. Its disrespectful. Especially to kids/children etc. This place is only good for WIFI and OUTDOOR seating. And nothing else. Coffee sucks. Only when I have no other options I get it from Peets. Starbucks is a no no... But right now these older Asian guys are smoking and I had to move. Tonight's experience was quite disturbing. The girl on the intercom came off really irritated and even asked me to repeat my order more than twice. The third time was after she had just told me what my order was. AND when I pull to the window- here's what I got with my order- AN ATTITUDE, NOT EVEN A HELLO... A flat "$9 even", her hand out, and no eye contact. I pass her my payment which she takes nonchalantly and she passes back my change loosely, still with no eye contact. To be honest, it was quite awkward! Next thing you know it she's passing me my two orders - both with whipped cream- THAT I POLITELY SAID NO THANK YOU TO TWICE, WHEN I PLACED MY ORDER earlier. Still no eye contact, no words, and major attitude from the girl at the window.. I'm still at a loss for words for the unpleasant treatment this evening. Maybe I'll just stick with the awesome service at Dimond and Downtown Oakland. Really unfortunate. read more

This has been my new spot lately ! A good place to do homework and chill. I always order their iced vanilla latte. Sadly it tastes different every time :(. What I can say is that their workers have a very weird vibe. They come off kinda rude or look at you oddly. Not as friendly as Starbucks workers for sure. Compared to Starbucks though it is awfully quieter and more space to be productive. And their coffee doesn't make me break out like Starbucks. Yay for that. Drive through is SO LACKING. I know they just opened, I get that.. Long story below, short story : Drive through sucks, I appreciate that they forget to have me pay ( twice, though I always remind them ) but they will never stir in your sugar BUT they will add the sugar AND hand you packets. Be careful of that. It's happened twice to me. Do NOT expect good service or anyone not to seem overworked and rude to you. ( drive thru only ) 1st drive through : No sugar added, was handed my numbered packets, had to ask for stir stick. ( Real easy to do when in a rush. Not. ) I got an eye roll for that one. Really? Rude. 2nd go around : First off the guy who was working the drive thru intercom thing, RUDE! Even knew it and corrected at the end, my boyfriend commented that he seemed like really sick or something and must be over it. Handed packets of sugar, again, had to ask for stir stick , again, pull over to stir in sugar. BAM. Sugar overload, I must have messed up, whatever, I suck it down anyway. 3rd time : Same old tune! Whatever. It's the only drive thru in alameda for decent coffee and I LOVE Peets, I LIVE park street and I've been in a couple times to see some staff from that end of the island and my drinks come out great if you're inside. I pull over again to stir in my sugars and realized they added it already as I could feel the grit at the bottom of my cup. THATS WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME! Is it ridiculous though that they stir in the sugar in your coffee or cream? Ugh. I've been a couple times since and it's still the same old. Peet's Coffee has made a name for itself in light of the saturation of big name coffee and cafe spots. The people that work in Peet's are similar to the ones found in most hip and trendy coffee spots. This location in Alameda on Webster is fairly new and doesn't seem to interfere with the Starbucks traffic on the other side of the street in the Walgreens shopping area. I am not really a Peet's drinker but when it's convenient and I want to exercise my brain to try other flavors other than the norm, this spot seemed like a good one. The price is comparative to the other cafes and offers pretty much the same pastries, coffee supplies, and drinks. I will definitely be back to grab another cup of coffee in the near future, just so not to be on the notion of going against my regular spot. Parking is on the street and the hours are pretty much the norm of other cafes in the area. read more

This has become my go to spot for coffee because of the convenience of the drive thru. I have always been really satisfied with the service as well as the drinks and pastries. Today was the exception. I get to the front of the line place my order consistenting of two matcha javivas and 2 almond croissants. When the person taking my order asked me if I wanted the pastries heated I said NO, do not heat them. I pull up to the window to get my drinks and pastries. The woman at the cash register takes my card and hands me my pastries, and of course they were warmed up. I hand the pastries back to the woman and I kindly told her I had asked for them not to be heated. She said she was sorry took them back and then told this other shmuck I had not requested them to be heated. So this dingus comes up to the window and tell me they have to be heated because they come frozen and thats what has to be done for them to be served. So in my head I'm thinking why is it 1. I would be asked if I wanted them heated to begin with? 2. Why is it that I have been there 100s of times before, ordered the exact same pastry and never ran across this issue? So I said I didn't want them. The nice woman at the register says she is sorry and that she will get someone to override the transaction. The freaking idiot that came over with his pastry spiel groans and rolls his eyes at me like its coming out of his pay check. So then the woman thats supposed to override the transaction comes over. Now this character, comes up and asks me why I don't want the freaking pastries. The cashier lets her know why she starts groaning and looking all upset that I don't want the pastries. And I'm sitting in my car like ok whatever. Then what really ticked me off was that she starts touching the front part of her mask just standing there not giving me my refund. Then I look around and another person on the espresso machine has the mask down to her chin taking and diffusing all her germs every where. And then another person walks by to drop off pastries holding their mask up with there hand not stopping to sanitize or change their gloves. So at this point I'm done with this whole situation. And I tell them this is ridiculous they still havent refunded me for the pastries and sitting in my car like an idiot. I don't even want anything and to please cancel the whole transaction. Now the lady processing my refund looks so confused and just turns red. And asks me why I don't want me order. So I told her you can accommodate how I want my pastries the staff isnt adhering to safety protocol. And I'm not going to drink out of a cup someone just handled after touching all over there mask. And she says what I cant understand you. So I'm like ok, then give me my full refund. So she yells at her staff to stop the order because I don't want anything. And I can hear them yelling back why whats wrong, and I'm like you all are some filthy heathens thats whats wrong. So finally she gives me a refund. I don't think I will be returning here they act like its such a hassle to accommodate customers and must not think our money is worth anything if they want us to eat what ever crap they throw at us even if its not what we want. read more

Love the drive thru option and it's right off of webster. I've used the drive thru at least a dozen times and I've gone inside the store about half a dozen times. I will always choose the drive thru going forward because every single time I've gone in, I've had terrible, RUDE customer service from the workers, and it's different ones each and every time. Good god, where did you find these people? The worst service, the worst morale and this place just opened. The attitude is unbelievable. Lord help you if you ever say anything outside of "I'll have a " whatever item, straight off the menu. For example, if you add your answers to the expected question BEFORE they ask like I'll have a "warmed" chocolate croissant and carmel macchiato with "whip cream". Or, ask for a mocha "extra hot" they will shoot you with eye daggers, sighs, and frowns. It's a very unpleasant experience and not one that should embody the Peet's brand. Also, something's wrong with their machines - every time I've gotten a drink here, there have been grounds in the bottom. but I wouldn't be surprised if the workers are just too lazy to thoroughly grind or filter or whatever. So, unlike what another poster said, the Starbucks down the street has nothing to fear in the long term. Once the newness of this Peet's wears off, no one will come here. read more

I've said it once I've said it twice ive said it 100 times. This store will never be what it was when they first opened. They did it right back then. They had the correct number of staff to successfully run the 2 in 1 store this store had the adequate number of people to properly serve the good people of alameda. Now they ask 1 person to be in 3 or 4 places at once and expect 4 people to handle the work load of 8 or 9. Slashing labor hours by 50% causing mass fall out employees working long hours and weeks with no days off opening at 4am getting home by 9pm to sleep and repeat the process for a dollar above minimum wage. AND ultimately the death of what could have been something great. If Peets doesnt wake up and listen to the people and the staff this store will just be the rat hole it currently is. read more
