Zombie (cold brew with matcha cold foam)
Jenny H.

I usually go through the drive thru and once in a while I go inside if needed. Staff are pleasant and quick. I got the zombie halloween drink and it is a cold brew with matcha cold foam. I wish I got more cold foam and that there was a sippy lid lol because it was the straw in the center lid.

The Everything Plant-Based Sandwich. Make sure you ask for hot sauce!

A pretty nice Peet's! (Ethical rating: 3.5 Green Stars) This Peet's Coffee in the West end of Alameda is pleasant for various reasons: There's usually lots of space, including outdoor seating with leafy shade; staff members are friendly; the music is not too loud; and it's clean, with clean restrooms too. Peet's had gradually improved when it comes to plant-based offerings. There's the vegan "Everything Plant-Based Sandwich" (an Impossible sausage patty combined with vegan egg and cheddar on a thin bagel) which isn't bad when combined with hot sauce. Unfortunately they did away with the other (better) vegan savory offering last year - the Mediterranean flatbread - so it would be nice to see something to replace it. On the sweet side, the morning glory muffin is vegan and also happens to be one of the best things in the pastry case. And thanks in large part to a campaign supported by Paul McCartney, there's now no extra charge for plant-based milks! I'm also giving the Peet's 3.5 out of 5 "Green Stars" for social and environmental impact, based on this: * Reasonable selection of vegetarian items and a vegan sandwich, muffin, and brownie. * Peet's have been better than most other US chains (Starbucks, Philz) at introducing coffee that's organic, shade-grown (e.g., certified Smithsonian Bird Friendly), or processed by the natural method, etc. Having said that, there aren't that many certified coffee beans on sale at the moment. None that are fair trade certified, that I can see and just a couple that are certified organic. Perhaps the best option is the Yosemite Dos Sierras, which is organic and also certified bird friendly (Smithsonian). It's also one of their best coffees. * Peet's allows customers to bring their own coffee mugs again & gives a 25 cent discount for using one. * Peet's main coffee roastery in Alameda is certified LEED Gold- the first in the US. (LEED = Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) * Peet's has now merged with Jacobs Douwe Egberts (JDE) and the joint venture had its IPO in 2020 on the Euronext Amsterdam stock exchange. JDE scores poorly for ethics, for example on Ethical Consumer. * Peet's sells coffee pods (and JDE sells two machines that use pods), encouraging plastic waste. * Peet's doesn't reports enough on social and environmental impact (e.g., coffee pricing) for a company of this size. So a mixed bag from Peet's: Better than Starbucks or Philz but not as good as some other local spots. Interested in writing green star reviews? If so, please check out the Green Stars Project.

I love this place. Employees are very nice and friendly. Food is always fresh and tasty.

I paid $7 for ice.... Too much ice less product...

I went to try the new Dubai matcha drink. All I got was a lot of ice and less product to drink. Real sad

Peet's seating includes indoor and (sparse) outdoor seating.

Excellent service, very roomy location, parking lot with marks Peet's spots, and a Berkeley-based chain that long knew not to add sugar to a ceremonial tea powder (e.g., matcha) unless upon request. The chain in general can do the sparking cold brews similar to the espresso tonics I had in North Carolina. Good place to work on a Sunday afternoon

I love the staff here. I came in with my SO to grab an afternoon caffeine pick-me-up and was greeted upon entrance. The barista who checked us out was a character, which put a smile on our faces. The store is spacious and warm. There is street parking and a parking lot in the back. There is a drive-thru. There are indoor and outdoor seating.

Everything Plant-Based Sandwich and Ice mocha

First time here and I wanted to try their plant base breakfast sandwich. Sandwich is a good size taste blends well, for me I didn't even noticed it's not meat, very light in taste. My drink is ice mocha and it's okay I can taste it strong. Overall for the last two months this will be my 2nd time visiting Peet's and trying their food and drinks. Service was fast and nice gentlemen assisting us. Ambiance plenty space, spread out area.

Service was fast and the drink was tasty. No waiting in the drive thru lane. They made recommendations on what I was craving. Worked was very nice and welcoming.

Not a single Whopper on the menu! And the counter help looked at me like I was crazy when I ordered a large French fry. Good coffee though.

That wasn't great as it was 3:30 pm on a Wednesday so I'm not sure how you run out of boba that quickly. So at least the drink was under $9. But for the price, this drink was awful. The presentation is terrible; they literally put plastic wrap on top of the lid because they didn't buy the right sized lids for the drinks! Now onto the drink itself. There was so much ice in this drink even though I selected less ice. For $9 there better be the least amount of ice possible. Taste wise, they did put real mango chunks in it but the sago was mushy and didn't blend well with the rest of the drink. After 3 sips, I had wished I had just gone to the mom and pop boba place instead. Long story short, my experience here wasn't great at all and I won't be coming back.

I cannot speak about the coffee/espresso drinks, because I do not drink coffee. Their food is exceptional! The pastries from tender, moist flavorful scones to cheesy biscuits, are fantastic. The savory food is so delicious. A lot of the items are things you have had before, but Julie's makes a far superior version of them. Their breakfast sandwich and grilled cheese with ham are the best examples of those sandwiches that I have ever had. It can take a little bit to get your food. You can either order in advance, if you're in a hurry, or enjoy a chat on the patio with a friend while you wait. It's totally worth it. Julie's is also a great member of the community. The owner, Shannon, donates food to many worthy causes, including Friends of the Alameda Animal Shelter.

I understand she was the only one preparing coffee and food. I'm not trying to complain about the wait, but the lack of acknowledging a customer to say it will take some time. I finally ordered an iced latte. I do think they have some creative drinks, but I know they are usually too sweet and I just opt for a plain iced latte instead. It was an ok latte, nothing amazing. They have a bulletin board for people to post their flyers or business cards. There was a card on the board that said A.W.A.R - All woke are retards. Very easy to make reservations online though I made mine 2 weeks in advance. And they use the reservations to label the seatings. Overall it was a nice experience. The service was great, each table has a small bell to ring for service, but obviously that can get a little annoying so the servers are pretty attentive. (Ie. I didn't hear much bell ringing! ) The menu is split into 3 different offerings every person at the table must select one; ie. You can't go in as a two top and only order one service and share-- each person has to order one service. The sandwiches were delectable the sweets weren't typical, as they were leaning more Malaysian. They did have small scones though (for the more English inspired!) A very wide selection of teas which we enjoyed so much! It was the perfect amount of food since each item was cut for tea. Pandan cake & pumpkin kuih were bland, esp the kuih. I could barely taste the pumpkin but the texture was good. I ordered chrysanthemum & lemongrass tea and it was pretty tasteless - almost like water. The malaysian pulled tea was good. Very cute restaurant ambiance. Service is just ok - very basic.
