I called 45 minutes out and was able to book an appointment midday on a Thursday afternoon. It's a really cute place that smells nice. It's larger than it seems on the outside. There is a huge selection of polishes, including no chip colors. All the standard brands, OPI, Essie, CND etc. Alina was my nail tech and very kind and sweet. Great attention was paid to the shape of my nails, cuticles, and hang nails. Afterwards I got an awesome hand massage all the way up to the elbow and a warm herbal towel wrap. I bought Groupons for this place so I went twice. The first time willingly, the second rather begrudgingly because I didn't want to waste my Groupon. The appointment was easy enough to make, but even booking well in advance it is hard to get a good after-work time as they close somewhat early. Though I arrived on-time, I had to wait. There isn't a good place to hang coats or put shoes except for the tiny couch that all the people who are waiting are supposed to sit on. The services seemed good enough, but the technician cut my cuticle until it bled and kept putting acetone on it. It throbbed and hurt for days afterward. The second experience was slightly better. Before I tell you about my experience here, let me tell you this: I'm always one to give a place of business another chance after a bad experience and I hate having to review poor service. I've been in the service industry and I get that there are just bad days. But my first experience at Pedicute will definitely be my last. Groupon had a manicure-pedicure deal for Pedicute - $20. After browsing through the reviews, reading the good and the bad, I decided it was worth a shot, especially considering the great deal. I figured, how bad can a manicure be? (Pretty bad, as it turns out! And I didn't even stick around long enough to get to the actual service part because the customer service part was just plain ugly. ) Before purchasing the Groupon, I called in advance to make sure I could get in the day before I left on vacation. I made a 1 pm appointment (a guy took my name and number). When I arrived a few minutes early at the salon, I walked in and looked around, waiting for someone to greet me. When you walk into a place of business and no one greets you, it's never a good sign. Finally, a young-ish girl approached me. I told her I had an appointment at 1 pm. She looked around in the scheduling book and didn't say anything, but walked away and whispered something to another guy. Then she returned and said, "I guess no one took your name." (Um, that's it? Don't apologize or anything.) So I asked how long I'd have to wait, noting the three other walk-ins sitting down next to me. She said 10 minutes. Here's what really gets me. She sat the other three walk-ins before me. If you run a place of business and you've made a mistake (not writing down someone's appointment, causing them to have to wait indefinitely), you either profusely apologize for the error and offer some kind of remedy, or you tell the other walk-ins that you are sorry, but you have to seat me first because of YOUR error, and then you deal with their frustration accordingly.) Fifteen minutes later, the girl finally sat me down in one of the pedicure chairs and proceeded to fill the tub up with water. I sat down on the (broken) chair and plunged my feet into an ice cold bath. I told the girl it was cold, and she responded, "Oh, okay." I guess that's how they do things at Pedicute? After 20 more minutes of sitting with my feet in the ice cold bath, and with no attention whatsoever from any of the staff, I got so fed up that I called my go-to nail place, Nails.com, asked if they could get me in (they could), got up and left - without so much a look from anyone at Pedicute. I walked into Nail.com and received cheerful "Hello"'s from about 5 different people, was seated right away in one of their WORKING chairs in a much more pleasant and organized environment, and realized I'm not the sort of person who will pay less for crappy service, ever. read more

Woah! Do Not Frequent this place if you plan on using a Groupon. For some reason, this establishment participates in Groupon offers however, they do not accommodate the high demand that comes with the promotion. My friend and I purchased the $24 Groupon Now offer for a mani/pedi bargain. It was a great deal, but definitely not worth the poor, half-assed service we experienced as a result. Upon walking in, one of the manicurists, possibly the boss, was very snippy and rude. After "bartering" with her, she finally agreed to allow us her gracious services. Needless to say, we did not get the same 5 star service other patrons were receiving. No one offered to check our coats, we didn't receive a complimentary bottle of water, nor did I receive their complimentary neck/back massage; all of which I observed their non-groupon customers receiving. In addition, we were rushed through the spa service. I had two people waiting on me (manicurist/pedicurist) which was the epitome of uncomfortable. I usually speak up, although because of the accommodation I decided to grin and bear the awkward set-up. My friend was extremely annoyed because her manicurist continued to drop his tools in the pedicure tub. Also, due to the fact that he was rushing, he messed up her nails and impatiently 'fixed' them. As I left, I asked the 'gracious manicurist' about the complimentary neck massage that I did not receive, she smiled, and said thank-you bye,bye!....????? After I walked out, my friend informed me that she mocked me and made some sophomoric comments...NICE! As a result she angrily stormed out before her nails dried, informing me that this was the first and only instance where she did not tip . I say do not let the groupon fool you. I would pay much more than $24 for better service and 5 star treatment! I feel as though Pedicute needs to work on their professionalism. I bought a Groupon for this nail salon in February and I have had nothing but trouble. First of all the Groupon stipulated that it could only be used by appointment. So I called a few times in April to make an appointment but I never got through; I just went to my regular place instead. I figured I have plenty of time to use it. The Groupon was going to expire in a few weeks so I've gotten more eager to use it. Last time I called I couldn't get through so I kept trying all afternoon. When I finally got through, the person taking appointments told me that they were full until well past the Groupon expiration date. I asked if they could extend the expiration date since clearly I still have a few good weeks and they won't honor it. The guy refused and said he'd schedule me for later but the Groupon won't work. I was really adamant that he find a way to make it work so he HUNG UP ON ME! Unbelievable. I will never go to this place and strongly advise that you don't either, especially if you intend to use a Groupon or other promotion. Thankfully, I was able to call Groupon and get a refund. Ai yai yai. Like many others here, I came here with a Groupon. I suppose you get what you pay for (most of the time), and this was no exception. I made an appointment before I came because I knew with the Groupon (and the impending weekend) it would probably get crowded. They took my name, number, etc etc. I thought I was set. Not so much. When I showed up (on time), I had to wait 20 minutes before I could even get started. OK, what was the point of making an appointment if I was going to be brushed off like that? One of the very few upsides of this experience is that Pedicute has a huge selection of nail colors (Essi and Opi). It's all downhill from here, friends. During the pedicure, they weren't particularly gentle with my feet and I ended up getting cut in a few places. When they were doing my hands, they filed down my nails TO THE NUBBINS. WHYYYYYYYYYYYY. I DON'T WANT BOY HANDS. They also demanded payment before they painted my nails, which I haven't encountered at any other salon. When I handed over my Groupon (which I had mentioned I was paying with over the phone AND at the beginning of the appointment) one woman started yelling in another language, pointing at me and then the Groupon. Then the man doing my nails started yelling back at her, and they both kept pointing at me. It was extremely uncomfortable. I wouldn't return. Beware coming here if you have a Groupon. Pedicute is my new favorite nail salon! I was on yelp looking for a new nail place to take my roommate for a little birthday celebration and the reviews for Pedicute stood out, Thanks fellow yelpers!! I called about a week in advance to make an appointment for myself, my roommate and her friend to all get manis/pedis. Since I was booking for a Thursday we were able to take advantage of the "buy a pedi, get a mani for $1" special.... making it only $31 a piece for mani/pedi combo!! We were running a little late for out appointment but I called the salon to let them know we were on the way. When we arrived the staff immediately welcomed us into their salon. They were very warm and kind. The salon itself is smaller but super clean and very cute. Three staff members were waiting for the us, ready to go... perfect for our little group all to get our toes and nails done that the same time. I had asked if it was ok to bring in a bottle of wine since we were celebrating a birthday. They allowed us to and were prepared to help us open and serve the wine so we could enjoy some relaxation. And let me tell you... it was the most relaxing mani/pedi combo I have ever had! We got 4... count them... 4 massages! One on our legs during the pedicure, one on our arms during the manicure, one on our shoulders and neck before our nails were painted and one on our shoulders while our nails were drying. The added effort of using hot towels made the massage go over the top. My roommate, the birthday girl, also received beautiful hand made paraffin flowers from the staff members. It was such a kind gesture and I know my roommate was really touched! I feel these staff members went over the top to make this little birthday celebration for my friend so special. Let me start by saying that I am not a fan of writing Yelp reviews and do feel that businesses are not always represented accurately on this site. However, there were so many issues with my visit, I couldn't NOT write a review. I made an appointment last week for my sister and myself to get our nails done at 6:45pm tonight. Another friend of mine made hers a day later for three people at 6:30pm. I thought 5 people in 15 minutes was a lot for this salon and was already becoming worried... but I digress. When we arrived, the woman said someone called and cancelled our appointment. As we stood there arguing, my friend and her group came in shortly after and they were told the same thing - that some random girl named Cassandra called and cancelled all our appointments. Really? They just kept arguing with us and didn't take the blame at all. As someone who works in customer service, I was taken back by this. Either way, the salon accommodated two of us, but then told me I could not use a Groupon bought for me by my mother because I wasn't a first time customer (just a heads up - EVEN if it's a gift, first time customer only means first time customer only!). So, even after they almost cancelled my appointment and told me I couldn't use my Groupon, I decided to make the best of it and pay full price for a no-chip mani. Despite all that had happened, THIS is the point where I started to get pissed... The male nail technician was rude, short and quiet the entire appointment. He made me feel very uncomfortable and unwelcome even though I gladly was paying full price for a service. I was upset about the whole experience, but decided to tip anyway. I tipped 20% despite ALL the issues we had and he DIDN'T EVEN SAY THANK YOU!!! Sorry, that's where I draw the line. I was this close to calling him out, but there were other people in the salon and I didn't want to make a scene. This salon does great nails, but their customer service is a JOKE. They screwed up their appointments, sent my other friends packing, did a quicky job on my nails and even received a tip and were not polite at all. Shame on your, Pedicute! Always try to have your customers leave happy, no matter WHOSE fault it was that our appointments were screwed up. Learn some manners. I will not be coming back. read more

Anyway, Pedicute was one of the salons listed and I have been wanting to try it out since it's super convenient. The salon is cozy with a ton of magazines and tvs to entertain you while there. They also have a large selection of polish, so that was nice to see. My manicurist was really friendly and did a fab job of shaping my nails! I returned to Pedicute to use my 10% from the previous visit only to find out that we have a bit of what I call false advertisement going on here! You can not 'use the points (10% of your previous purchase) as cash'. Actually, once you accumulate 15 points (after spending $150), you may then have a free manicure. Free manicure does not = cash. Oh, and good luck having someone explain this 'deal' to you in a language you can understand.... I asked for just a french polish change. It was $20 before tip! I have been getting french polish changes for as long as I can remember, and I have never paid $20, even at NICE salons. I asked for a price brochure on my way out and when I returned home, I read it only to find out that it specifically says $10 for polish change, $5 extra for french. TWO days later, my polish is chipping, even though I put an extra top coat on the next day as I always do. What garbage! I ended up paying $24 for nothing but a learning experience to never return! I'm not sure why my manicure lasted so much longer than my toe polish change (when I went the first time). I'll tell you what they can do with their '10% 15 point' system..... read more

I am surprised by the bad reviews from Groupon customers and wanted to share my great experience at Pedicute. I also purchased the $20 Mani/Pedi Groupon. I had no problem getting an appointment after work on a Thursday. I had to wait maybe 5 minutes but that was perfectly fine because I was distracted picking out a polish. A very nice woman did both of my services, she was very efficient and did a wonderful job. I got French on my toes (extra $5 I believe). I received a s short neck massage during my manicure which was a great touch! I was one of about 5 women in the salon, from what I observed we all had Groupons and no one had any problems at all. I wish I could comment on the quality of the mani-pedi, but unfortunately I could never get an appointment to use my Groupon before it expired. My friend and I tried repeatedly to make appoints to go after work (and we tried to go a couple times on the weekend) and we could not get an appointment. It got to the last few days the Groupon would be valid. I called to make an appointment and they could not fit me in before the Groupon expired. I asked if they would honor the Groupon beyond the expiration date if I made the appointment while it was still valid -- given that they simply could not fit me in. I was told, "no, but I may redeem it for face value." I've never tried so hard in my life to get a frickin' mani-pedi. The deal is not worth it if they aren't willing to make accommodations to serve those that bought the deal. I thought this was supposed to be a relaxing activity. I understand that it is probably another case of a small business not equipped to handle Groupons fierce approach to crowd-sourcing. Sad story - but it is still in their hands to decide how they treat their potential customers and be sympathetic to the customers' POV. read more

I am one of the people who purchased the $20 mani/pedi Groupon. And while I didn't have any trouble making a same day appt (a Sunday afternoon), the experience I received here was very average. The Pros: * I was able to get an appt the same day I called * It wasn't busy at all and I was taken right away when I walked in. * They had "Forrest Gump" playing on the salon TVs and I thought that was pretty funny. * The application of the polish was pretty good. Didn't chip for a few days (which is good for me) The Cons: * The guy who worked on my feet was extremely rough with me. The leg and foot massage was actually painful! In my head I was thinking "ok, my feet aren't THAT messed up! Ease up!" * The hand massage was kind of wimpy. The hand massage is my favorite part of my manicure experience. To me it feels good to have my fingers stretched and rubbed and the guy who did mine didn't do more than rub some lotion in. * I feel like I was pressured into having my cuticles cut. I don't like the cuticle removal process (on hands, or feet really). It hurts and I feel like more times than not, blood has been drawn. The guy doing my manicure made it seem like it he didn't cut the cuticles, my manicure would look f*ed up. So overall, I probably wouldn't go back without another Groupon-like deal. While I don't have a horror story to report, I wasn't wowed into being a return customer. read more

I went into my experience here expecting the worst based on some reviews here and was pleasantly surprised. This isn't a spa-like experience and is pretty basic, but I had a $20 mani/pedi Groupon so figured I got what I paid for. One thing I was struck by when making my appointment is that they tell you if you have a Groupon you need to pay an additional $2 for "tax." I'm not an expert on this, but I have a feeling they might just be taking that extra $2 from each Groupon sold. This is especially weird since many people using this have probably bought a Groupon before and know that isn't typical. The place seemed clean enough, their pedicure chairs are massage chairs (mine was broken), and they are pretty fast- I was in and out in an hour. I will say a major plus was that my regular manicure did not chip for a full week even though I was moving around a lot on vacation, and I feel like they usually chip at least a little in a few days. Girls, we've all been to a million and one nail salons around the city, but as far as Lakeview goes, I think this one takes the cake. You should definitely make an appointment because it's usually very busy, but they do make an effort to accommodate walk-ins. I usually get a mani-pedi, and every employee who has done my nails here has been excellent. This place is not cheap, but it's no pricier than say the Nail Bar or Pinky salons around the city. My manicure, and especially pedicure, is always immaculately done and lasts for a good amount of time. You can really tell the time and effort they put into their work. There's usually music playing or an interesting movie on the flat screen to keep your attention. You also receive a mini massage after your manicure, which is always the best part for me. I've witnessed someone getting an actual massage in the salon, and her expressions made me want to sign up for one ASAP. If you live in the area, definitely try this salon! read more

I went in with a friend intrigued by the '$1 mani when you buy a pedi' sign. It was actually a deal for Mon-Thurs and it was Friday. Darn. We asked about prices anyway-$40 for mani/pedi. Too much as we were walking out the lady asked if it was our first time and we said yes. She reduced the price to $31. Sold. The place was very clean and smaller with only 3 pedicure chairs and only 3 staff working. There was no wait but with the other 1000 nail places in Lakeview, that wasn't shocking. The pedicure was very nice with a bunch of leg and foot massages including one with a warm towel and leg scrub. Very relaxing. The manicurist took her time and kept asking if I was 'ok.' A little annoying, but whatever. On to the manicure which was done very well. The BEST part was that I got 2, count them, one two shoulder/neck massages one during the manicure and another while I waited for my nails to dry. Granted they were probably 30 seconds each and she did kind of BANG on my back...it was a pleasant surprise as I've never gotten a mini massage during a manicure. Pedi-cute is a nail salon that just opened about 4 weeks ago. It is running a GREAT special right now: Mani and Pedi with free pedi-paraffin wax for $35 (normally, that would be $50). I had Haemi as my nail tech, and she was VERY Friendly. The environment is cute and ver welcoming. I really like Pedicute, especially when comparing it to the other nearby nail salons. Here's why: - All the Essie and OPI colors (except for maybe the absolute most recent colors... but they do eventually get them) - A really good massage with your manicure (sometimes two massages with a mani if the place is slow!) - Two of the nicest women run this place. Just really really sweet. You don't get the feeling they are talking about you behind your back (or, incidentally in front of your face). I enjoy talking with both of them and it doesn't feel forced. - If you come on Mon-Thurs you get a mani/pedi for $31 total. The only reason I don't give it five stars is that the pedicure chairs don't have the roller massage feature that I love in some other salons. They only have vibration which makes me feel slightly motion sick... But, then again a lot of other nail salons use their chairs as your de facto massage, and Pedicute gives you both a (vibrating) chair and a hand massage! I'll definitely come back. read more

So they go up one star for actually caring about what people say and actually working to improve their service. The other star increase is for actually doing a great job this time! This place is never busy? I'm not sure why... My first experience there was mediocre at best. I had someone other than the owner do my mani and she was barely pecking away at my cuticles. Next time I needed a mani, I thought to myself "You know, everyone deserves a second chance." So, I went in with an open mind and had the same manicurist. (I believe there is only the owner and one other lady.) Same thing. Barely pecking away at my cuticles...which I need major clean up on. Fortunately, I spoke up and the owner over heard and swooped in to save the day. Way to go Ms. Boss Lady! Ever since, i've made it point to stop in whenever I'm in need of a mani and in the area. I had the Groupon for Pedicute and redeemed it a few days before its expiration. As always, don't wait until the last minute to use a Groupon. Your experience making a reservation will not be a pleasant one. I don't blame Pedicute for this. It was my own tardiness. But still, it's frustrating. I would not call this place a spa. It didn't feel like a spa, and it's decor did not resemble a spa. I go to Mini Nails around the corner every two weeks or so, and I much prefer their decor (and even smaller space) than that of Pedicute's. The staff is friendlier at Mini Nails, too. Why the 2-star review? My pedicure is chipping after less than three days, and not just on one toe... it's on four! I have never experienced chipping so soon after a pedicure before. (I opted to skip the manicure and just get clear polish on my nails because I was running late for dinner, so I can't comment on chipping hands.) I'm disappointed in my experience at Pedicute and won't go back. read more

I went here because my husband bought my a surprise Groupon for a Manicure/pedicure. I tried to wait until the weather got a little better, but had to go the last day the groupon expired. The day I went it was cold a slushy, not the best day to go out and get a mani/pedi. Upon entering I was greeted, they took my coat, asked if I wanted a magazine and to pick out a nail color. The one thing that makes this place stand out from all the other mani/pedi shops in the area is the customer service. Everyone was very nice, the shop was clean and English was playing on the TV. (I know the TV shouldn't be a big deal, but they were watching the Lion King, and I love that movie) After my services, they wrapped my toes in plastic wrap, to protect the polish from my boots and helped me with my coat and boots. Great customer service and it earned them an extra tip. I no longer live in the area, but if I am in that area, I would go back. read more

Got a Groupon for a no chip mani and regular pedi for a wedding last weekend. The salon was great about getting me in day of at a time that worked perfectly for me. This is why I am giving them more than one star. The actual finishing product, however, was a total waste. My pedi color looked good while I was drying, however almost none of my dead skin was removed and I had to take care of all of it at home. I dried for about 45 minutes and the tech oiled and wrapped my toes so they would not get ruined. I arrived home ten minutes later just to see that all of my right toes had been smudged and the big toe was completely ruined. Luckily I had a similar color and I did a quick touch up. Similar experience with the no chip. Most of my cuticles were not removed and there were some rough edges. I got this done on Thursday around 4:30 pm. By Saturday (wedding time) three nails had already chipped. It is now Tuesday (not even a week!) and 5 of my nails completely chipped off and the remaining nails have paint chipping or curling up on the edges. I have never had this kind of experience with a no chip and I am really unhappy that it couldn't even last a week when it should last well past that. Super frustrated to have wasted the money. read more
