It's been a while since I've walked around Newbury without guests in town, and Pavement was a welcome place to sit and grab a hot drink on a blustery day. This location is closer to the Mass Ave side of Newbury, at a sub-street level. I'm not sure if they have an accessible entrance at the back since there is no signage. Otherwise you need to descend a few stairs. The interior of the cafe is snug and cozy, with a few tables, chairs, and benches that can accommodate a surprising number of people. It can be a bit of a squeeze, but I didn't feel it was crowded. My cappuccino with almond milk was rather affordable for the location (less than other coffee shops) and was very smooth. I'm surprised there aren't more coffee shops on Newbury (other options include Thinking Cup closer to Arlington St. and the Public Garden). With so many smaller local spots closing around here, I'm glad Pavement has stuck around with its unpretentious atmosphere.
Needed a quick bite while shopping on Newbury and Pavement's bagel sandwich hit the spot! Presto Pesto had a nice fluffy egg, cheddar, avocado, and a pesto with a little kick (coming from someone with a low spice tolerance). Bagel with cream cheese came with soooo much cream cheese so you'll definitely have enough. Summer special drinks: Watermelon limeade, cayenne ginger ale, lavender lemonade, lemonade, lavender latte. I ordered the iced lavender latte with almond milk and it was good. Wish it were colder on this hot day, but appreciate it's not all ice! Fun music. Minimal seating inside and small patio outside. Nice and cool inside from the heat and the service was friendly. All gender restroom in the back.
My bagel was amazing, went back the next day for another! The vegan tofu cream cheese is so yummy you can't even tell the difference from regular cream cheese. Will definitely be going back again

Huge huge fan of this establishment. The cinnamon fig latte was insane, if you dig figs you should fig around and try it. The Presto Pesto sandwich was absolutely wild, I was so impresto'd. Jack C was working hard and the long line went really quickly! Really cozy interior and lots of seating. I want 54 more of these sandwiches, i couldn't even snap a picture because i consumed it so fast so here is a picture of my empty wrapper. cheers!
A bit of a wait on a weekend afternoon. The staff was super sweet and there's a decent amount of seating inside and outside! The bagel was yum, definitely filled uppp on that cream cheese. But loved the hot apple cider the most! Good place to journal, read, do work, etc.
FOOD IS AMAZING! always fresh and delicious! The service is fine i guess!? I mean they are always busy so makes sense! The ambiance is great! Make sure to get the rosemary bagel;) with smoked salmon and chive onion cream cheese! The only thing is the price add up fast and i always end up having to pay 40$ for two bagels and 2 drinks! Lattes are AMAZING too btw!
Best coffee in town! I recently went to pavement and swear it was the best experience ever. I went with friends and ordered an ice latte. The attention was really good as well. Nice for the summer time, they have outside tables where you can enjoy from the good summer weather.
When searching Yelp, Pavement Coffeehouse was one of the very few places open for early breakfast on a Sunday on Newbury Street. Quite a small place, but they offer seating both inside and outside. Loved the exposed brick wall and artsy tables. They have a good variety of bagels so I went with the Presto! Pesto! bagel and it was pretty good, but I thought the bagel didn't taste all that great and the eggs weren't freshly made. The cappuccino I got was pretty good though. The staff was not friendly and whenever I tried asking a question about the order, I was completely ignored.
The Quick: awesome bagels (New Yorker here!) With lots of fun toppings. I was able to get an incredibly spicy delicious vegan breakfast sandwich .. I highly recommend. The Details: I understand that plant-based is not for everyone, so it was really cool that this place had a regular meat base menu and then had vegan alternatives for some of the more popular sandwiches. I enjoyed the vegan tequila sunrise, which had spicy plant-based cream cheese tempeh bacon and Pico. Pro tip, make sure to get your bagel scooped out so that you're topping stay in and it's easier to eat The Damage: breakfast sandwich and cold brew for $14

Unfortunately for me, they either didn't have the gluten-free bread their menu advertised or their barista didn't know about it, so I was left with sweet pastries marked as gluten-free. The macarons are far sweeter than any I've had and my companion agreed; flavorful but remarkably sweet. The flourless tart, well, was. However, it's a coffee house and most folks get breakfast sandwiches, so don't let this stop you from coming in. The coffee itself was robust, well-pulled, and on the bar quickly. A good cup of coffee and based on the number of bagels around me, a great stop for a bite to eat.
Pavement coffeehouse is my go to place when I'm going to Newbury St. The coffee isn't too bad, I usually go with an iced latte when I'm here. The real star of the show is definitely the bagels. The rosemary salt bagels are seriously the best! I ordered the presto! pesto! sandwich when I was last here and it was absolutely delicious. It gets busy so I recommend ordering ahead for pickup. There's limited seating inside and outside but definitely check them out if you need a great bagel in the area! read more
I'd consider Pavement Coffeehouse your pretty standard café. They have all the classics - coffee, tea, pastries, etc. I've only gone for beverages, so I'm not sure about the quality of the food. The real draws for this place are the location and convenience. Depending on the time of day, you can expect a line, but it should move quick. In terms of vibes, it's a solid coffee shop atmosphere, but it's often pretty crowded. I'd consider taking your coffee to go! read more

Absolutely obsessed with the bagel sandwiches here. Bee-Sting and Awakening are tied for first place in my mind, and I love that you can sub any bacon, turkey, or other meats with tempeh to make it vegetarian. Their house-made rosemary salt bagels are so delicious and aromatic, just herby enough to spice the sandwich up. Love pairing a bagel sandwich with an iced maple latte for a delicious and filling brunch. I always order ahead because it's quite busy in there (not quite a study spot), but they get the online orders done super fast, and I am in and out in seconds. read more

Grabbed some breakfast to go from this spot that is super close to the Hynes Convention Center, Prudential Center, and the Sheraton hotel. Crazy good coffee. Delicious bagel sandwiches. Seriously good. I definitely want to sit down next time - super cute seating area outside! Super friendly staff too! read more

five star service. four+ star coffee. could be higher (or lower) based on future visits. this time -- in fact my first time -- tried a classic espresso (2oz), which the barista was very knowledgeable of and served with a small glass of sparkling water as a "palette cleanser". feels like europe! smaller space that they make work fairly well. nice outdoor patio in front. if not busy, room for solo onto 3-4 people. chairs not the comfiest but it's outside so... deal with it! they make their own bagels in house btw! read more

I stopped in for a beverage while strolling Newbury. I usually go to Thinking Cup while in Boston, but we'd already passed it, and I was up for trying something new. Pavement's a nice little spot with friendly peeps behind the counter. For a Saturday, it was rather quiet, but there was a steady flow of traffic coming and going. I ordered an iced mocha, which had a really nice balance between mocha and coffee. It was smooth and not overly sweet. Nice to have yet another good option for coffee on my Boston visits. read more

We ordered two vanilla iced lattes at a very busy time, very well done iced latte but as far as flavor goes, it's a little dull. Better than Starbucks. Nice little crevice off of Newbury street. read more
My body woke me up before 6:30AM ET, so I decided to take a buddy up on his recommendation for a great coffee and breakfast sandwich spot, and landed here, about a ten minute walk from our hotel in Copley Place. This place was tucked away in a great neighborhood, and had a really warm environment. I got "The Sunrise" sandwich (egg, bacon, cheese) on an Everything bagel, and it hit the spot. Paired it with an oat milk mocha latte, and my day started on the right foot. The waitstaff behind the counter were super cool, too, and made me feel like home even though I was visiting out of town. Highly recommend! read more

The bagel I had here was insane! They also have plant based which is a perk. My tea tasted a bit watered down but I didn't mind it. My only complaint is the service. Not very friendly or inviting. read more

Amazing vegan options, really cute spot inside and out (a bit crowded during peak hours), and relatively quick service. We got the vegan creamcheese but the bagels didnt feel toasted enough only flaw id say. We also got vegan hot chocolate but it felt like it wasn't filled up all the way and not warm enough. Would definitely return here when i'm back in boston!! read more

This pavement location is super small with around 5 small tables and a bench, but still busy as ever. They also have a few outdoor tables in the patio area. I came here to get some work done on a Friday morning and ordered a London fog and a chocolate croissant. The London fog was great and gave me enough energy to power through, but the chocolate croissant was lacking. It was dusted with powdered sugar and had a flakey crust, but lacked enough chocolate. There was just one small log in the middle of chocolate and many bites around that were plain and dry. They have in house made bagels which are definitely a better choice than a pastry. Overall, a bustling cafe to work in if you don't mind the noise. read more

Well visiting Boston for PAX East we decided to take a day and check out Newbury St. Among the shops we found Pavement Coffeehouse. They had a wide range of drinks that were amazing. I have a hot maple latte, due to them being out of something for a drink I originally wanted. But the service was great, but the place was super packed. It must be like that a lot of the time. Overall it was a great experience and food and coffee were amazing. Just eat outside, unless you can find a place to sit read more

Came here for a matcha and it did not disappoint. I am not the biggest match girl but my cousin convinced me it was worth trying. We came on Newberry St. and the line moved quick! The one thing I will say is not all locations are created equal. The reviews based on location varied a lot and that definitely is something that doesn't sit well! You want to have trust in a brand or chain regardless of where or when you go. I probably would like to try more items from here and leave a followup review which is more thorough, but the matcha was great in my book! read more
Stopped in for coffee and a pastry this past weekend. It was super nice out, so it was pretty crowded when we came in around 2 on Saturday. We got the Spanish latte and a vanilla latte along with a mixed berry scone and a chocolate croissant. The Spanish latte was a latte with sweetened condensed milk. It was so good - thick, creamy and perfectly sweet! The scone was a but dry - could have used some jam to go with it. The croissant would have been tasty warmed up. I'd love to go back to try the death cream - iced coffee with cream and sweetener. The breakfast Sammie's also looked amazing! All the people working were super friendly as well. They have limited indoor seating as well as a few outdoor seats available. read more
