Myself, Joanna, Tony and my wife Denise after a great lunch
Steve J.

Very nice find! Not crowded because they are known for their open air and patio and today was cloudy, cool and breezy. But inside Joanna provided excellent service and the proprietor, Tony, was great with conversation! I ordered the Haddock dinner and Denise had the burger. Both very good, as were the bloody Marys.

Blackened Salmon BLT

First, if you're reading this in real-time, end of September, and you're within driving distance...GO this weekend/week! The weather is going to get better and better which will make your lunch on the upper deck that much more spectacular. Now. Food. I had seen a review for the Salmon BLT, and I stopped wondering what I would order. Blackened salmon (or you could opt for simply grilled) was generous and perfectly seasoned and grilled. It came on a deliciously buttered and grilled roll, light and chewy and crunchy. So good, in fact, that after I had eaten the sandwich de-constructed style, I ate the entire roll. The bacon was plentiful but not the star, which was absolutely ok with me once I tasted the salmon! My husband had the fried chicken sandwich, and all I had time for was to take a picture before I dove in. Afterwards, I DID ask him how it was and he said that it was excellent. Next time I'll (try) to be more attentive. But probably not. I had an Absolute Citron and soda with a lemon and lime, and he ordered a Patio Bourbon that included Ginger Beer. If you like your GB with a kick, and then a follow up kick, you'll love that unique choice. Sunshine, excellent service and the food. Go!!!!!

Great location, fair prices and good food. The upper deck offers a view of the water and there is a small 4 seat bar that is cool to chill at. This was our 3rd time here to 2 years and would definitely come back.

What a great spot! We loved the lobster pizza, lobster Mac-n-cheese, lobster roll, (yeah, we had it all!) clam chowder, buffalo cauliflower, and fried pickles. So good! If the weather permits I definitely recommend sitting on the upstairs outdoor deck - so nice!

Blackened Salmon BLT

Went today for the first time. Will be going back. Fun location, sunny, with slight breeze made it really nice on the first floor. I had blackened salmon BLT with fries and a small side of BBQ sauce. Huge points for having BBQ for salmon...that's how I like it. Came on a small baguette. Very fresh. Perfectly prepared. Very tasty. Took 6 napkins, which is a high score. I really had no idea what to expect when I ordered it. Made some ground salmon on toast. Was overwhelmed when I saw it. Has to be in the top 5 of sandwiches I have ever had. Took off one star bc they couldn't make many of the drinks on the menu, although the wine was excellent . Really liked the owner, too. Friendly, nice. Absolutely recommend.

Service was lovely. Pricey for mediocre food. Probably more of a spot for drinks than a proper meal.

why no prices on the website menu? looks like a great place but no prices upfront is a deterrent.

Very rude and unfriendly staff. Violating ADA by refusing customers with service dogs. Avoid at all costs. No view as advertised, either

Food was great. Wait staff was great. Man greeting was quite rude walking in, to the kids that were well behaved and when leaving.

Been wanting to try this place but it is tiny and usually packed when I walk by, today I lucked out…read moreso here we are. It is a tiny bar area and some seats at the window, very intimate. You hopefully like the people you are with lol.. I ordered the house .... I originally wanted the melt but it came on TX toast and not rye so I went in another direction. (Nothing against the Texas, I just was craving rye) The bun is so soft, the burger even though cooked through was juicy, the flavors went well together. Did not disappoint and I'll be back to try more, maybe even the melt!!

Just a half block off Commercial Street, this tiny, casual eatery-- with stool and counter seating…read moreinside and actual tables outside-- specializes in smashburgers but offers veggie burgers, lobster rolls, wings, and fish sandwiches as well. They also have a modest selection of well-chosen beers on tap and in cans. -- Bacon Bacon burger: I tried this on two separate visits, once adding caramelized onion to its standard configuration of house patty (a 50-50 blend of beef and pork), block sauce (think spicy ranch), bacon strips, bacon jam, and cheddar. The toppings all worked out great, with the bacon strips the standout by far: plentiful, tinted red from the cure (flavor galore), and both crispy and bendy in the same bite. On the downside, there's a dense bun to get through, diluting the deliciousness and moisture. The pork component in that patty suggests extra juiciness, but on one of the visits it was pretty dry--and smashburgers need not be dry. So I loved one and merely liked the other. I know it's 2026, but $20 for a burger without fries is a little pricey. If you get the love version instead of the like, it's worth it. -- Fries: Old school crinkle cuts cooked hot and crisp, available with sea salt or salt and vinegar. The menu has the smallest at $7, but with the burger it was only $3, a bargain that mitigated the $20 burger price tag. And they were very good. Service was great once, abysmal once (long wait for the check, long wait to pick up my credit card). On a third try in between, I sat on a stool for about 15 minutes trying to get noticed and wound up leaving. Lots of chitchat among the servers, both out front and back in the kitchen. Service doesn't seem to be something management prioritizes. So there's some good, some great, and some not-so-great. Could be a 3 or a 4, but I'm optimistically rounding up based on the excellent first experience and generally good food quality.

We visited on Friday night and sat at a table as the bar seating was pretty packed. Crowd was pretty chill - a mixture of people in their 20's having drinks & apps, and then older couples/families enjoying dinner. We were happy to see Smithwicks on the draft menu, and we also got a Downeast cider with a caramel/cinnamon rim. We ordered the house made mozzarella sticks, which were ginormous, crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside, and all around delicious. We all opted with different types of burgers - sliders, fried chicken, and a pub burger. All were served with fries and were perfectly cooked. The coating on my fried chicken was crispy and flavorful. Service was awesome - our glasses were never left empty! Best of all, Dwyers has a free jukebox packed with favorites. Looking forward to coming back on our next visit to Portsmouth - we'll definitely be trying the deviled eggs, wings, and fried oreos!

After spending aprox $250 on drinks we were asked to leave our table before we were done because there were other people waiting for tables. I understand that it's a busy St. Paddy's weekend and they need to turn tables over and make $ but it was quite jarring and rude AND we were getting ready to order food. I enjoy this place but i won't be returning. If you want average food and drinks, which is forgivable because of the fun music, and would like to be treated like crap on a Saturday afternoon, Dwyers is the place for you.

It was quite packed with people both at the bar and dining areas. We ordered appetizer of fried pickles, which was a huge portion for $10. (I didn't expect some sort of seasoned salt on top of them yuck) , Ordered the fried clam strip platter which consisted of a plentiful portion of very tender clam strips, fries (which also had the seasoned salt in them) and coleslaw. The coleslaw was something less desired and will choose another option in the future. The last meal was steak tip dinner. Only 3 small tenderloins of steak served with coleslaw and baked potato (of choice). A little over priced for the quantity of beef. Overall the staff was very friendly. The environment was loud, and it didn't help they sat us among a bunch of infants. NOTE: the bill was $70.24 BEFORE TIP. The tip suggestion on the bill is NOT accurate. See picture of receipt
