I'm not as frequent a flyer as I would be if I always got to pick where we go, but the couple that we went with tonight were equally as happy. Kathleen was a sweetheart. Efficient, personable, timely. Noticed a someone 'supervising' and touching. It was Sue. Asked if she was in charge. She said kind of. I told her how happy we were with Kathleen. She agreed that she was wonderful. I asked where she likes to be reviewed. She said, "I don't read them, but my husband does." Yo! Hubby! Whatever you're doing, keep doing it! read more

After another restaurant was unable to accommodate our party of 25, the incredible team at Litchfield's Bar and Grill welcomed us on a busy Saturday night without hesitation. We were happy to find this restaurant open during the winter here in Wells. We were able to walk in and get get seated quickly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was quite packed with people both at the bar and dining areas.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We ordered appetizer of fried pickles, which was a huge portion for $10. (I didn't expect some sort of seasoned salt on top of them yuck) , Ordered the fried clam strip platter which consisted of a plentiful portion of very tender clam strips, fries (which also had the seasoned salt in them) and coleslaw. The coleslaw was something less desired and will choose another option in the future. The last meal was steak tip dinner. Only 3 small tenderloins of steak served with coleslaw and baked potato (of choice). A little over priced for the quantity of beef. Overall the staff was very friendly. Great local place to enjoy cold drinks and some great food options. The bar was full so we grabbed a table in the area near the bar. Our server was wonderful, very attentive and nice. I've been to Litchfield's 3 or 4 times and consider it a decent local restaurant for casual dining. I've had their steamers, Reuben and most recently the Wagyu sliders with some Haddock bites....all very good. I've never gotten the pizza but it definitely looks pretty decent. The atmosphere is simple and comfortable. The servers are pleasant and polite. The menu selection is well rounded and affordable. My main criticism is that the drinks are inconsistent to the point the last time I ordered an additional shot of JD for my jack and soda. I give 3-1/2 stars with potential to be north of 4 stars. So give Litchfield's a try and enjoy! read more

Had the grilled romaine lettuce salad special that had a feta dressing - it was delicious! But the steamed clams were over cooked and loaded not just with sand but little tiny rocks - really disappointing. Great Manhattans though! Waitress was wonderful. read more

This was our first stop after Landon Manchester, on our way to Acadia NP. We arrived at 2 on a Tuesday. It was pretty crowded. The lobster roll had the right amount of butter. The roll it was served on was perfect. The chicken strips had a lite breading . It came with a Honey Dijon sauce. It was very good. The server was very friendly. Service was excellent. Especially considering how busy they were. Next time I'm in Maine we will be sure to stop here. read more

Very good. Wells Maine in winter means many closed restaurants. This bar and grille area s definitely a locals place. We started with an order of Wagyu sliders, that were very very good. They had bacon, melted cheese and mayo on them each and came with three in the order. Then we split the grilled chicken salad, which was a basic fresh mixed green salad with a few tomatoes, a few cucumber slices, some croutons, and very small amount of shredded cheese. Dressings tasted like they were out of a bottle, but they were good. We especially liked the waitress. No nonsense and great service. We could also see what seemed to be the manager, replenishing tables, cleaning up, and helping out wherever needed. Well, it wasn't exactly fine dining, we really did like the place. I would describe this place as more of a local spot in a touristy area. We went on a weekend night and it took us around a half hour to get a seat at the bar. While waiting, we tried to get a drink and that took at least 15 minutes as well. For food, I ordered the seafood 2 way combo. For $25, the portions were small and the clams tasted off. I wasn't able to finish the clams because of they're odd taste. The scallops were good however, as were the sides. My mom ordered the pizza and it was very delicious and affordable. While I am giving 3 stars because of the disappointing service and clams, I would come back and stick to bar food. I'd like to go back and try a burger or wings or something! We called ahead, they don't take reservations but they take call aheads. They told me it would be about 30-40 minutes. It ended up being over an hour and with little children waiting that was hard to do. Service was very good once we got our waitress. My mom and mother in law got the steaks and enjoyed it. I got the big monster lobster roll, it was very disappointing. They did have kids cups which was nice for my girls and the chicken tenders and fries were good for them.. Great food and great staff! We went there 2 days in a row and the both days were awesome. First day we had a magician at the table and he was incredible. Our kids(we as well) enjoyed his tricks. The next day we were there around 6:30pm and there was a huge crowd in the outside part of the restaurant(pavilion). They've told us that there was a trivia going on. We are locals who decided to try Litchfeild's for our dinner tonight and boy are we happy we did! Our waitress took our drink orders and we ordered raw oysters. We LOVED the homemade cocktail sauce that accompanied the oysters so much, we held it for our meals. The oysters were beautifully shucked and we had no shells or bits of shells with them. Compliments! We opted to share a 3 way combo and ordered two side salads. The seafood was beautifully fried and the batter was light and tender; the seafood perfectly fried! Got the fried banana peppers and boneless buffalo wings for apps and both were delicious. Never had fried banana peppers before but have to say I will now be on the hunt for them. They were better than any fried pickle app I've ever had. Got the Cowgirl burger and it was one of the most flavorful and balanced burgers I've ever had. Great tasting burger with a nice little kick of heat from the fried jalapeños and ghost pepper cheese. Not a huge French Fry fan in general but those were really good as well.
