Great food at Lee Frank's. Loved the old building, nicely refurbished and you could see into the kitchen. The hamburgers are great. Very in-and-out. The rings were excellent with a crispy batter that ever so slightly held on to the rings. The hot dog was eh. The hot dog temp seemed off and the chili and cheese was just alright. We had lunch at Franks today. Small menu but wow they do everything right! Smashburgers, hotdogs, onion rings,fries and shakes. I had a cony dog with cheese, onion rings and fries. Everything was yummy and I wish I had a smashburger also. They looked so good. Its a small dining room maybe six tables and some window bar height seats. You order and pay at the counter. Prices are very reasonable. Parking is a little tough but worth it. Cant wait to come back. read more

This is for the south berwick location: Drove down on a rainy Sunday on an adventure to try this burger. So close to a 5: Pros: Super friendly service Decently priced I love the onions rings they were different and I enjoyed that. Don't expect the ones with lots of batter but they were great! Now the star of the show was the burger! Smash burger at its finest. I also got grilled onions on it and such a good choice. Cons: The fries were average and mine were a little cold. I was looking for a premium Chili Hotdog while in South Berwick. Unfortunately, a downgrade from my last visit to Lee Franks. This was not bad, but certainly not the best. I will continue looking, but so far, the best in the area is at Harbor Burger Shack in Kittery, Maine. read more

They're becoming inconsistent. Mr Frank should keep an eye on the teenagers making his product. I know a hot dog should some snap to them, but the last two I got tasted somehow stale. To make matter worse the hot dogs they push are terrible, the casing is tough and rubbery, I had to squeeze the meat out of the thick rubber casing which I dropped on my plate and walked out. While the food itself is usually okay to good for what it is, recently the fries have been dry and tasteless and the burgers luke warm. My biggest gripe at both locations is they refuse to run heat in their restaurant. Everyone is either taking it to go or sitting while eating in winter costs! Seems ridiculous not to want your customers to feel welcomed and comfortable. I will say the burger was very good. Problems: no ice for drinks, air conditioner was apparently broken or just sitting outside the window so it was pretty hot inside. Lee Frank's new Wells location is great. Ordered online easily and it was ready within 15 minutes. Got the double burger, two new englander hot dogs, grilled cheese and onion rings. Burger and dogs were great. Burgers were fresh and tasty. Dogs were covered in relish and mustard and used a quality dog. Grilled cheese was actually two sandwiches which my wife liked. The onion rings were good but a bit too crispy. The inside is casual with bright blue metal stools on bench tables as well as booths and bench seating near windows. I stopped by the very popular local burger and hot dog joint, located in the center of the South Berwick business district. They serve up burgers, hot dogs, homemade onion rings, crinkle cut fries, chili cheese fries, shakes, and cold drinks (Coke products) from the cooler. The prices here seem reasonable. They also have Burgers with Benefits nights which help local organizations. I placed an online order via their website. I ordered the Hamburger ($4.75 plus tax), Chicagoan Dog ($3.50 plus tax), Onion Rings ($4.00 plus tax), and a Special Shake (Wild Berry - $4.50 plus tax). The place was busy when I arrived to the store, most customers were waiting for their takeout food in the seating area with tables and metal blue chairs and stools along the front windows, which can seat around 34 people. There was light violin music by Lindsey Stirling playing over the speaker. The Toasttab online orders don't print out until the pickup time, so there is a delay time to make the food. My food was all set 7 minutes after pickup time. I enjoyed my food in shop. The Chicagoan Dog was loaded with relish, chopped onions, tomato, yellow mustard, and Celery Salt over grilled hot dog which had a snap to the bite in a soft hot dog bun. The Hamburger was like a smash burger which had a grilled well done beef patty with plenty of mustard, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, onions, and pickles on a soft bun. The onion rings were lightly battered and deep fried, crispy outside and not too greasy with ranch dipping sauce. The wild berry shake was thick and sweet. Overall, Lee Frank's was very good and the food I had was very tasty. I think next time I'll also order the Chili Cheese Fries (fries dirty) which seem to be popular here. read more

This is one of the best burgers i've ever had, and the chili fries are also so amazing!! Their chili is more of a gravy type sauce and it's literally exactly what I wanted. Me and my boyfriend spent about an hour trying to find a new and good place to eat at and we stumbled across our new favorite burger place!! Went here for the first time last night and we will definitely be back. My husband and I each got a double cheeseburger and made it dirty. Dirty is their house sauce and grilled onions. We shared a side of fries which came out hot from the fryer and were perfect. We also got a strawberry shake and a chocolate shake. The girl who took our order was very kind and helpful. We mentioned doing a second order with our shakes, after we ate our burgers and fries. She said she could just do one order and wait to make our shakes until we were done eating. We were just finishing our fries when she came over and asked if we wanted our shakes. When we said yes, she had them there for us right away. The service was wonderful. Service taking our order was good but some tables needed to be washed off and hadn't been addressed during the time we were there (eat-in order). I'm loathe to write a bad review, especially after one visit, however if there is one thing I cannot tolerate, it's being lied to before you even order. So, listen, they don't sell hamburgers or cheeseburgers- they sell smash burgers and they are overcooked disfigured pieces of shoe leather. You get this inch thick onion and the entire thing is about half the size of a normal hamburger. Next is the milkshake and for something over 5 bucks, a strawberry milkshake needs to have at least glanced at a strawberry, but no... The ambience was depressing, inside had a non working a.c unit and other than the two picnic tables outside there were literally 2 broken tables with chairs directly behind the broken air conditioner and the restaurant exhaust fan. Ok, this is the second time I visited. The first was last yr. ( 2023). I ordered a double chili dog. The hot dog tasted awedul,and the texture was like rubber,hardened rubber. I fought through 1 hotdogs and through the remaining dog away. I returned to my house and within 15 minutes vomited violently.
