That Place In Ogunquit - The Haddock

We had dinner here this week, and it was outstanding. I…read morecalled and made a reservation a couple of weeks ahead of our visit (we were there on a Monday night, and in the restaurant area it was pretty quiet - just us and one other table). First things first - parking is super easy, it's a free valet service (not obvious at first, as there is parking behind the restaurant, but you're greeted right away when you pull in). We walked through the bar area, over to the restaurant area (surprisingly the bar was quite full), and were able to choose a table by one of the two fireplaces. On the restaurant side, it feels very cozy, and homey, exactly where you want to spend a cold night, inside eating dinner. Our server was lovely, greeted us right away and provided menus. I started with a cosmo (they had flavored versions like strawberry, but I elected to go for the classic). For an appetizer, we started with the bacon wrapped scallops - the bacon was maple glazed, and wonderfully crispy, with the scallops cooked perfectly, and some micro-greens scattered on the plate - delicious. For entrees, my mom had the baked seafood stuffed haddock which came with a lobster sherry cream sauce, a massive pile of perfectly cooked green beans, and mashed potatoes (yum). I went with the duck special, which was absolutely delightful. It came with Brussels sprouts, and I subbed out the au gratin (I very strongly dislike sweet potatoes), for mashed potatoes. It was delicious. We were so full, we opted for dessert to go (chocolate cake), which was generously portioned, and decadently delicious. We really enjoyed the meal - this was a wonderful dinner to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday!

We started with scallops wrapped in bacon and their bread service. The butter was sweetened and the bread was great. The scallops with bacon were excellent. My husband enjoyed a few vodka with cranberry and he wasn't disappointed. He chose the crab stuffed shrimp and sincerely loved it. The rice and green beans were great but he was full from the shrimp. I chose the filet with a lobster tail, fingerling potatoes and asparagus. Everything was simply superb. Dress was casual and the place was clean. Not thinking they are accessible though as there were steps going in the two doors we used.

Sea Salt Fry - Tuna tartare cannoli

This is exactly the kind of place you stumble upon and immediately want to visit again and start…read moretelling everyone about. Chef/owner Norman has built something truly special here, dedication was on full display with every plate. I came with the family and started off with one of the specials, tuna tartare cannolis which were nothing short of spectacular and elegant, showing off all the skill back in the kitchen (hoping they stay around as a staple). I ordered the double patty smashburger with Vermont cheddar and caramelized onions which was juicy, packed with flavor and delicious with the house sauce. My wife got the fish tacos which were fresh, light and perfectly balanced with all the condiments without feeling like your usually heavily fried seafood. The kids were well taken care of too with the burger and chicken tenders which didn't stand a chance. Never seen my little ladies eat so fast and clear their plates. In their words, "the best Eat Store Ever!" We saved room for the maple brown sugar cake with ice cream, and it did not disappoint. The perfect sweet finish to a memorable meal. Eaten so fast that I was left scavenging for scraps and melted ice cream once I was able to dig in. The cherry on top was the people. Our server Brittany was warm, attentive, and genuinely wonderful -- the kind of service that makes you feel like a regular even on your first visit. We also had the pleasure of chatting with Chef Norman himself as he brought out some of our dishes and the dishes of other customers. You can tell this place is a labor of love. If you're anywhere near Wells, do yourself a favor and eat at Sea Salt Fry Co, it is the real deal. We can't wait to be back!

New joint in town! Loved the seating arrangements, the chairs are wide and comfortable! Good…read moreservers and the chef served some of the dishes too. Good food, loved the sauce that came with the burger and the house chips. The salad was good but not worth the price for a whole salad, more of a side salad IMO. Will go back ! Parking is limited, we got lucky with the last spot !

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Ogunquit and we go to Brickyard Hollow pretty much…read moreevery time we visit. The wood fired wings are delicious and my daughter loves the Sweet Teriyaki Bowl with tofu, and a variety of vegetables including brussels sprouts & pea shoots. My favorite thing to order at Brickyard is the Blueberry Pizza, which a lovingly call "Pizza of the Gods". I've been ordering this pizza every time we visit, and I hope they never take it off the menu. Pizza of the Gods includes wild Maine Blueberries, lemon, rosemary, and shallots, and beautiful dollops of ricotta topping a white pizza base. All I can say is give it a try - it's heavenly! Service is always good here with food arriving quickly and the atmosphere is casual. I especially like the historic photos of Ogunquit that decorate the restaurant, and when the fireplace is burning, it is a treat to warm up near it. Lastly, the drinks. I'm not a huge beer drinker, but I can always find something on the menu that I'll enjoy. My husband is a beer drinker and he loves it here as well. Brickyard Hollow is one of our go to restaurants in Ogunquit. It's comfortable, reasonably priced, and the food is great!

First thing though, we got seated super close to other parties even though there were open tables. The group behind us spilled water, scooted back, and literally bumped into us without even a quick "sorry" and didn't move their chair back. We ordered the sweet chili wings, but they came out oily and kind of flat on flavor. The burger at our table was decent but definitely on the dry side. The pizza was saltier than we expected, so that missed too. On the bright side, the sweet potato fries was good, the drinks were solid, and the location is great. I think next time I'll just stick with the Portland spot.
