It has that casual, coastal Maine feel that makes you want to linger. I ordered the cold lobster roll, which was generously filled and came with their homemade chips everything tasted very fresh and perfectly seasoned. I also had the clam chowder, which was rich, comforting, and full of flavor. My husband chose the lobster dinner with french fries and coleslaw and really enjoyed it, especially the freshness of the lobster. Our kids were just as happy with their meals. My daughter got the mayo-based lobster roll, which she loved, and my son ordered the fried clam strips with fries, which disappeared quickly from his plate. Overall, every dish we tried was very good, and the setting by the ocean made it a memorable meal for our whole family.

We've been eating our way from Boston up through Portland, and this ended up being the absolute best lobster roll of the entire trip. The Main Event: * The Lobster Roll: The portion size is fantastic; they definitely do not skimp on the meat. The lobster was incredibly fresh, the temperature was perfect, and it was served on a beautifully toasted bun. It's a "perfect bite" kind of roll that I'm still thinking about days later. * Clam Chowder: We also tried the chowder, which was hot, creamy, and very tasty--a great starter, but the lobster roll is the true star here. The Experience: It's rustic, authentic, and exactly what you want a lobster shack to be. The staff is friendly, and it's a great, casual spot to hit after walking the Marginal Way. The Verdict: If you only have one lobster roll while in Ogunquit, make it this one. High quality, generous portions, and a great atmosphere. We'll be dreaming about this meal until our next trip North!

This has been my go-to place for lobster rolls for many years. Although the website gives you the…read morechoice to join their waitlist, there is a handwritten note when you arrive that says that they don't take reservations. So I generally check their hours of operation and drive there for dinner. Unfortunately in the spring we were turned away although we arrived over 1 hour before they closed as they said they were short- staffed and the kitchen was closing soon. We found a different place to eat and since we parked at the public lot across the street, we found that they were still open and had many customers an hour past their closing time. This time we decided to arrive extra early to avoid the previous situation. It was a sunny warm day but we were informed that the upstairs deck was closed because they were short staffed. We were looking forward to outside dining but the first floor deck is small and all the diners appeared to be having drinks. We choose first available which ended up being inside. When we first sat down, the couple sitting next to us wished us good luck getting our meals in the near future. Apparently all the others customers around arrived after them and they were almost finished with their meals and theirs hadn't arrived. A server offered them a compensatory drink for their inconvenience. One accepted and the other told them that she was done drinking for the day. When their bill arrived, the second customer asked if her drink could be comped. Her request was declined because they said that it would have been applied to the second drink and not to the first. As for our dinner, we went for the colossal lobster roll - hot with butter. We prefer the roll on the side to avoid it getting soggy. The regular lobster roll is currently priced at $35 with 1/4 lbs of meat. The colossal is $45 with 1/2 lbs of lobster meat. Our lobster meat was overcooked as it was slightly rubbery. That's not the quality we have gotten used to from years of visiting this restaurant. They may have had an off day as they were understaffed.
