I have lived I York for over 70 of my 78 years on earth, the time away be a little college, a little army and a little try in Florida. My wife and I have been going to all the great places in Ogunquit , Portsmouth, York etc. and are self proclaimed Foodies! We live 1.3 miles from the Fat Tomato but for some unknown reason have , until the day, never tried it . We tried it today and were blown away by the friendliness and fantastic food we've discovered! Heard and read a lot of good things and finally got in to get my Club Sandwich. Phenomenal. Turkey was perfect and tomatoes/lettuce were crisp. Marbled rye was soft and fresh. Enroute to Boston from Portland when the husband had to take a work call (while on vacation). Pulled off I95. As I was starting to get hungry, YELP came through. Fat Tomato Grill was an excellent recommendation for a quick bite to eat. I got the Maine Italian and my husband got the Tuna. BOTH were DELICIOUS and paired with chips. They have limited hours.. so we're extremely happy we happened to make a random stop close to a great restaurant. Service was quick & friendly. The consistent good food here is so refreshing!!! ( overheard the owner explaining about how everything is fresh!) Do not sleep on the specials!!! Today's white bean chicken chili soup is amazing!!! Fat Tomatoes Grill , York Maine. They are a little hole in the wall on the main street in York. They have an extensive menu of sandwiches, wraps and salads. Prices are very reasonable for the quality you are getting. There is limited seating inside and out ( Which is right on the road). Parking Can be a problem since there are only five spots right infront of the shop. There is parking along the road though. They are limited on chips and soda but there is a convenient store right across the street. They do have some nice homemade sweets too. We got two sandwiches , and sweet potato tots with a great maple dipping sauce, then headed to Long Sands and had a picnic. I highly recommend trying this place once you will not be disappointed. read more

You're going to be amazed by the food at the Fat Tomato! Their chicken tenders are the best I've ever had. They're not just regular tenders, they're marinated 12 hours and seasoned to perfection. My mother lives in York, so I visit a lot. I had never noticed Fat Tomato Grill before. My bad. I've now eaten there twice. The food is excellent. There isn't much by way of service, and the outdoor seating is somewhat uncomfortable and close to the road. But the food was first class, and was prepared quickly. I've tried a cheese steak sub and a pulled pork sandwich. Both were excellent and served very hot. I suspect that if I had gone there at a time they were busy it might not have gone so well, but who knows? I'll be back. read more

We were in York for the day, visiting some favorite sites sheen we found ourselves famished. How did we miss lunch? Too much nature and gorgeous weather, I guess. We remembered how much we loved Fat Tomato Grill in 2019 (no vacation for 2020, sadly), and I quickly pulled up their website from the park we were at. The online ordering was sooooo refreshingly thorough! I ordered the BLT & C with a side of fries. The options list is vast and yet you can move through it quickly if you know what you want. Ordering could not have been easier, and we paid, added a tip, and off it went! Everything was ready in 15 minutes, the exact amount of time it took to drive over. The bag was ready-to-go: the sandwiches wrapped smartly, the fries in their own little brown bags. We went back to the park and filled our growling bellies there. For my BLT & C, I chose provolone cheese and sourdough bread. My husband had his Oven Roasted Turkey on multigrain bread with bacon. Always the bacon. The sandwiches are huge! I could have made two meals from my sandwich. They are piled high with generous amounts of everything you wanted in between two soft/chewy fresh slices of bread. Oh, how our tastebuds rejoiced! How our stomachs were satisfied! Also, the fries are perfection--perfectly crispy outside, fluffy inside. Nothing burnt. Just perfect. We're so glad Fat Tomato Grill is still serving great fare in York. We'll be back! read more

Stopped in to get lunch to go during the Covid pandemic. I had the Cuban sandwich and hubby had the 911 burger. The food was fresh and hot and the ladies working were very nice. The burger was a beautiful medium rare and the toppings were nicely distributed. The Cuban was perfect and the press on it was spot on. We also had tots and fries. Fries were really good, but the tots are things dreams are made of. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. Paired them with boom boom sauce, although they didn't really need anything. Yum. Ordered online, and went in to pick up my order. Had to stand at the counter for a few minutes before anyone acknowledged me. They looked up my order and informed me I had come in EIGHT MINUTES EARLY, and it wasn't ready yet. Yes, I was early, but came in just in case my order was ready. I then stood in the lobby for about 25 minutes. When someone finally noticed me again and asked my name, my order had been sitting on the counter for awhile at that point. Terrible customer service. The Rachel (Reuben with turkey) was nice and toasty/grilled, well-balanced with swiss, cole slaw, and dressing. The side of fries were as crunchy and lightly salted as I remembered. Food size is generous; I'll have the other half with fries tomorrow,. Because food is cooked-to-order it is not fast but you can order ahead online. Went here with a friend for lunch. I got a sandwich that was a BLT with American cheese. I was surprised the cheese was not melted on it, but ate it. My husband and I usually visit the Fat Tomato for lunch during the summer but tonight we were getting to town around 6:30pm and wanted a quick good dinner. We saw the open sign but they were set to close soon. I walked in greeted by a very pleasant young woman and placed my order for Rogers Thanksgiving sandwich for my husband and I got the black bean burger. I had such a nice conversation with who I think was one of the owners as she was closing up. They were all so pleasant as I had placed my last minute order. Then when we got to eat the burger and sandwich they were so delicious! My black bean burger was very well seasoned, toasted bun was a very nice touch, I got the boom boom sauce sauce on side which was delicious. My husband said the stuffing on his sandwich was fantastic, Turkey was tender and delicious. We give them five stars for both food and service!!! read more
