Been coming to York for vacation for 58 years, and here for a number of years. I'm 84 and don't mind spending good$$$ for good food. Everything here has always been top notched. We came on Sunday, 8/9/26, service was impeccable, very attentive. Four in our party, haddock and shrimp were great, mussels are my favorite lunch! We no longer will patronize bad attitudes at Chauncey Creek or bad food at Bob's. and, het, the view here is a bonus! read more

Let me start by saying Cape Neddick Lobster Pound's ambiance is cozy and classic New England, inside and out. There are almost panoramic views of the water and they catch lobsters right on the own dock. I would return for the ambiance and service, but not necessarily the food. We ordered a poke bowl and a bowl of clam chowder. The poke bowl was very fresh and had lots of fish and veggies, which were tasty. I really like that they added seaweed salad. The only thing is that it was VERY salty due to an excess of sauce. Next time I would order the sauce on the side. Our clam chowder was average, and tasted more like potato soup than actual clam chowder. I definitely wish they included more clam chunks as well. Overall the menu was pretty basic and had nothing beyond what every New England seafood restaurant has to offer, with food quality slightly below average. read more

NOT A GOOD EXPERIENCE I have been going to Cape Neddick Lobster Pound for 25+ years. I've never experienced a worse dining experience. We arrived at 4:30. decided to eat the bar. 2 bar tenders on. Only a few people at the bar. Only one of the 2 bar tenders was giving service to bar and very few in restaurant. Very long wait for drinks and to put in our dinner order. bar tenders not making eye contact. We really had to flag their attention to get served. They never shared mid week happy hour specials. We saw them advertised on the big screen at the Bar, The haddock dinner was not fully cooked. We sent it back. I ate my dinner alone while my husband waited for his dinner. It came back fully cooked to eat with his cold mashed potatoes and green beans. Would really have to think about returning again. read more

Could have been so much better with just a little more effort. First off, every staff member here was absolutely incredible! The failure barely warm food served to all four of us. We don't know if it may be sat on a shelf for several minutes before being delivered to the table, if it was never hot enough to begin with, or if it was the icy cold temperatures in the restaurant that chilled our food on the way to the table. Sadly, this was our least favorite meal of a three day trip in the area, and the only reason is because the food was cold, which took away from the flavor and enjoyment. I always look forward to a solid and satisfying "shore dinner" of steamed Maine lobster with all the trimmings and Cape Neddick Lobster Pound fit the bill. It was a quiet evening but relaxing and our server was terrific and friendly. I had a local brew (The Lunch IPA, I think) and then my wife and I started off with a dozen oysters - which were a buck-a-shuck on this Tuesday! Great deal! The oysters were good, cold and mild. I had my lobster dinner and it was delicious. I added a cup of clam chowder which was also very nice. I only wish the sides - which were dinner rolls, corn kernels, and cole slaw - included a baked potato but oh well. My wife had their fried haddock taco salad and she said it was very good. We then shared a slice of excellent chocolate truffle cake - that and a couple of cups of hot strong coffee plus the tranquil view of the Piscataqua River outside - made for a lovely evening. read more

A nice and casual atmosphere with a lobster tank to pick your own dinner. Our waitress was very good and attentive. She did point out right when we sat an hour before closing to order promptly as the chef gets mad to get orders too close to closing. We left just after closing with other patrons still there. The food was good. The steamed clams were delicious. My filet was very tasty, cooked perfectly but a bit tough. Mashed potatoes were delicious but my tossed salad was warm. Been going here for many years. Had good experience when the new owners came on and met them. However going in and asking for a table for 2 and just being told No is just rude. How about can we put in our name? They said no, we are too busy. The staff there with the exception of the bartenders seem to be on the rude side. Over the past few months Ive noticed this and its too bad because it pushes people away. Maybe, hire more and better staff and we will check back next year. read more

Cape Neddic Lobster Pound 9-8-25 Stopped by here for dinner as the menu had a great selection of seafood on it. This place didn't look like much on the outside, but the inside was clean, neat and beautiful. Our waitress Morgan came and took our order as they were not that busy. I ordered a bowl of Clam Chowder and the Baked Haddock which consisted of Haddock topped with Cracker Crumbs, Sherry, Butter, and Lobster Cream Sauce served with Asparagus and Mashed Potato. I changed my Asparagus to Corn on the Cob. My wife ordered the same thing minus the Clam Clowder. It took a while for Morgan to bring out our Haddock meals, but I must tell you they looked amazing. First thing I asked Morgan did she forget our Clam Chowder and could we please get butter for our Corn. I did want the Clam Chowder first as an appetizer and butter should always go with Corn, but it was the last thing we got. These are simple mistakes that should not have happened if you're on the ball. I must be honest; the food was amazing. The Haddock flavor was out of this world. The Mashed were ok and the Corn was fine, but the star of the show was the Haddock for sure. I would have given this place a 5-star rating as their food was that good, but the service was not up to par. I must only give this place 4 stars. First, the staff was very accommodating when we came early in the season and wanted to sit outdoors with our dog, and took care of us. The food was also amazing. Both my wife and myself had the lobster stew, which was both delicious and a good portion, with plenty of lobster meat. Entrees were also wonderful, with my wife getting the Maine Stuffed Haddock, and myself the Baked Stuffed Lobster. We will absolutely go again on our next Maine trip! read more

In town to visit friends and stopped in for an early dinner. No wait so we were seated quickly. Service was good, our waitress was prompt and checked in a decent amount. Food came out quickly as well. Food was good! Good variety and options for the kids too, the most exciting part is the kids meals are served in paper boats. Clam chowder was good lots of fillings. The haddock taco salad was a good size however has a bit of a kick that I was not expecting. The haddock Rachel was delicious, messy but tasty! The seafood pasta was also a good size and came with lots of seafood fillings. The drink menu had a variety of mixed drinks. The view is undeniable with it being right next to the water and the ambiance was casual and relaxed. It was a nice place to stop in for dinner with the family. read more

We come here every year and have for years (and years). We went on Tues 6/30 and my husband ordered the fried clams. Never in our life have we seen such a pittance of an order...it looked like something from the Gorton frozen fisherman. Tiny disgusting frozen (definitely) clams, with filler balls, in a little basket. Horrible. Not close to what you would get at an outside clam place, ie, in Kennebunkport. These things were disgusting and if they were anymore than 23 dollars, I'd probably be in C Neddick jail for complaining about wanting my money back. Absolutely pitiful. Do better. We wanted fried seafood. A few years ago we tried Bob's Clam Hut down in Kittery and were turned off by the grease laden trays, and how every piece of seafood tasted like fryer oil. This is about a mile from camp so we checked it out. Ordered calamari, shrimp and clam bellys all deep fried. Healthy? Not at all. Greasy ? Not an all. Delicious? Heck yes. The shrimp tasted fresh and were perfectly breaded. The clams were the same. The calamari was delicious but the marinara was a little too green pepper forward for both of us. If you are in York, and want delicious fried seafood I would highly recommend this place! read more

Good food, poor service. Our family stopped in for dinner at the Cape Neddick Lobster Pound. We have come here for years and we wanted to find out how it is doing under new management. Not well! We had an appetizer of pretzel and cheese, but the pretzel was slightly burned. We had a flavorful cioppino seafood stew, but the restaurant forgot to serve it with bread. We had a barbecued chicken, but the chicken was brought out 25 minutes after the other entrées were served. Returned this year for our third time. Waited about 45 min for a table but didn't mind. We sat at the bar and the bartenders were friendly and the drinks were great. Once we got to the table we ordered dollar oysters, steamed clams, mussels, salad and lobster stew. All were delicious! Our entrees were just as good. Of note, the scallops are amazing and the surf and turf a must try with delicious filet mignon and tender tasty lobster meat. By the time we were done the kitchen had closed and it was too late for dessert. We were disappointed because the wait for the table was so long. The waitress mentioned problems with mgmt and that a change in personnel had just occurred. I hope they get that taken care of because the place has become a favorite of ours. It's clean and nicely decorated and the food is fantastic. The waitress was friendly and attentive and we'll definitely return the next time we're in Maine. read more

One of us ordered baked stuffed lobster and there are 2 other reviews that accurately describe what we got. Cold, barely baked lobster. Tail not split and a glob of "stuffing" that was honestly, inedible. Had the added surprise of black slimy eggs. Also ordered a lobster roll which was decent. I was going to assume it was because it was December but then I saw the similar reviews about 5 months ago. Probably will not be back because this mediocre meal was over $300 with tip. read more

Well, we're were very hungary, and heading Out of town back to Vermont....parking lot looked packed, got a spot pretty easily....my brain animated a long wait, however, noooo, got a amazing corner seat ( for our family of 4), overlooking the water out back.... We had been looking forward to having dinner here for many weeks. We both ordered baked stuffed lobster. They arrived at our table and appeared to be steamed lobster with a glob of stuffing placed on top of the tail, which was not even split. Stuffing was cold. When my dining partner cracked open her tail, it was full of black, runny water, indicative of female eggs that had not yet been cooked, as cooked roe turns orange or coral in the cooking process.. She sent hers back, my tail was OK, but not quite cooked to the optimum temperature.. All in all, for the two of us it was $200 for dinner including tip. Honestly I used to love this place but with new management this place is unacceptable. My friend who clearly stated and made sure the food would be acceptable for his food allergy (celiacs disease) was given the wrong meal and reassured it was correct. We have been going here for years. There are new owners now and I would expect some new issues. We went last week and went ahead and ordered the twin lobster 1-1/2 pounders (greater than 1-/4). The twins were about $62.00 That is way out of line. Last year we paid $45, I believe. I know if Hannaford and Mike's are charging 11.99 a pound that Cape Neddick could find a reasonable price pound. I guess we'll stick with the footbridge lobster shack for $19.00 for twins on their quite often bogo. For many year we used to go three times over our one week stay. We would spend about $150-$$175 plus tip each visits. We went one time this trip and at the end of our trip my wife and I realized that it didn't even occur to us to go back after the first visit. I think that the owners might want to change the name from lobster pound. read more

Spent a couple of days in York Beach craving a great baked stuffed lobster! There were a few options but I opted to go here because they were one of the few restaurants that did baked stuffed lobsters. I called the day prior to my visit to confirm they had them and was told they were 1 1/2 pounds for $68. That is what I ordered! When it arrived it was 1 1/4 pound packed with a bread and possibly shrimp stuffing. Heavy and wet, no flavor. It appeared to be a preboiled lobster then packed with the stuffing and baked for a short period of time. When I cracked open the tail it was ozing out a gummy black liquid. Just gross! Apparently this is from under cooking as the eggs are black but turn red when cooked. So so so unappetizing!! They took it back and gave me a lazy man lobster soaking in about 1 pound of butter. Barely edible. This was a $200 dinner! Shame on them. Do yourself a favor and find some place else to dine in York. read more

Went to here for dinner last night is Grid by the hostess with a mask. We requested inside dining they did have the option of outside in the socially distance at our table from other people. Dinner was very good service was very good the only thing I didn't like was that we had to eat with plastic silverware no real dishes were used, And their clam chowder was loaded with celery which I do not like. read more

The lobster and fried clams were delicious and the house-made tartar sauce was amongst the best I've had, which for me makes or breaks fried clams. The views from the rooftop deck overlooking the ocean were incredible and the beer was fresh and ice cold. Most of all, I appreciated the service. There was a lively (cough, cough drunk) group of uncivilized gentlemen on the deck below us dropping LGBTQ slurs and discussing how they would reject their children if they grew up to be homosexual. A nice lesbian couple at the table closest to us expressed how uncomfortable they were. My husband and I were offended, as well, and expressed to our server that we would be grateful if someone could ask the gentlemen to lower their voices. Moments later, we heard a female voice tell the group they were speaking loudly and other patrons were not especially fond of having their conversation forced on us while trying to enjoy dinner. The men apologized to her and lowered their voices. We did not hear anything else from them. I understand it was probably very uncomfortable for the server or manager (I'm not sure which) to approach the group of men and ask them to modify their behavior. Their tactfulness did not go unnoticed. My husband and I, and I suspect the couple at the table next to us, will definitely be back to make it rain again in the future. read more

Fresh food (my lobster Mac and cheese was amazing, lots of lobster and cheese; hubbys meal was also delicious) and delicious drinks (get the watermelon margarita!) My husband and I visited York, ME for our 10 year wedding anniversary. Lobster Pound was the last restaurant we visited on our trip and our only regret was that we didn't visit earlier. The owner Eddy made us feel like family and so welcomed! We will be returning to Maine just because of the fabulous service and attention we received here.
