Mimsy and I had lunch at the Rochester location yesterday for the first time in 25 years. They do a good burger, and they must have a hundred different styles on the menu. Cowpoke motif. About a dozen beers on tap. Onion rings were very good. My only gripe is the table service model they use. You order at the register, you take a number, and someone brings your order to the table. What happens when it's busy? Big long line at the register? I prefer full table service if tipping is expected. Everything is à la carte. If you want fries with your burger, you're paying about $20. But they've been here for 25 years, so they are obviously doing things well. read more

I recently relocated to this area and was so happy to find Wild Willy's. We used to have one in my old neighborhood and I miss it very much. First, the stomach gurgling and other strange noises, then the discharges begin. Spaced maybe 5-7 minutes at first, then moving to about every minute. So there I was, immersed in the glory of what is now an entire room full of a self-generated, invisible gaseous cloud of methane and the all-important element of sulfur, when I hear the front door! I stay very still and tell my wife that I'm upstairs. She opens the door with our son and she gets hit with the stink and actually swears at me! My son was just embarrassed. I was laughing so hard that I ripped a massive one and they both left! Maybe it's simply my digestive system that processes things the way it does. I've been told that if I like good burgers, I should try this location. During my one visit, the burger was dry and the bun was a couple days past 'fresh'. I ordered the "Buffalo Bill" as I'm quite fond of horseradish sauce... there wasn't the slightest horseradish element to the white glop on my burger. It felt more like thick mayo. The service was underwhelming in a way that normally I wouldn't mention it, but with the burger being such an unpleasant experience it just underscored the whole vibe. I will not be visiting again, and if someone suggested it as a place where our group went for a hamburger... I might actually suggest a Wendy's over them. read more

Coming to update my review. Food is still good (reason for 2 stars), but man, is the place ever filthy! If the company/owner/workers let customers see this level of dirt, I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. I don't know if I can ever bring myself to eat there again. WWB is quite solid. I'd say it's willy good for the most part. Locally sourced beef meets a fun and festive western vibe with friendly service and downhome preparation and OK prices sans the root beer ($3.45 for a "schmall"). I am a WWB first-timer, and it satisfied my hanger for food and bev pretty good. They offer a good-sized laminated menu (about 11'' X 17" or so) that has a bunch of choices other than burgers including root beer on draft. I got the Six-Shooter that was a jazzy (jazzy? -WTF?) half-pound burger paddy allegedly featuring a spicy taste with its toppings. It was good although it was hardly spicy. The fries are good and are "Wendy-like" with the skins on 'em and were freshly made n' hot although they ain't at all krispy. The root beer was wicked pissah and was an old-fashioned atavism. I do recommend WWB highly to hangry YELPERs. My only beef was the buns. I am not hating on them or lambasting them, but I prefer a brioche or sesame seed bun instead of the WWB bun which was a meh bulkie roll that is more engineered for sammies and not burgers. Also, the burger and fries are quite "plain" tasting -not in a bad way but lacking individually or that certain "burgernality." I also wish that they offered mega-stacker-type burgers for truly hangry peeps like me. I suppose you could custom order something though if you are so desirous. Who would have thought that the best burger place around would also have phenomenal chicken tenders. We have frequented here for quite awhile and I hadn't tried them until recently. Great burgers! This is a great burger joint with some good craft beer and root beer on draft! Root beer floats are a must try, although their frappes are also great. They have pickles in a barrel and whoopie pies. It's clean, they're friendly, it's NOT fast food. It says it on the door that burgers are cooked to order and to expect to wait about 15 minutes for your food. The fries and onion rings are hand cut and fresh. Sweet potato fries are great as well. The burger options are copious. My preference is actually the black bean burger. As somewhat of a black bean burger connoisseur, this is tops for me. So burger was pretty darn good and fairly quick service. Also got chips and they were way to soft for my liking but that is really just a preference thing. Wild Willy's had always been my absolute favorite place to go for great burgers, fries and onion rings. I'm sad to say that last night 11-16-24 we were greatly disappointed by the food. My family has been going to Willy's for over 20 years and we were sad that the quality of all the food has nosedived. The meat does not taste the same. The buns were dry and cold. Had to order at the register which was managable but I came in shortly before 2pm.. has some little girl with some random color in her hair treat me like a nuisance as soon as I entered the restaurant. Got take out from here on Friday night, during this pandemic they're not letting anyone in the building except for workers, so you call in your order with the option to pay over the phone, park in a numbered spot out front and call them when you get there, they bring your food out right to your car. The two people we came in contact with during pick up were super friendly, food came out quickly and we were on our way. Food portions were good, the fries were the best, soggy (I'm blaming the take out container) but they had good flavor. The chicken tenders were ok, the plain one were just that, plain, not a whole lot of flavor, the buffalo tenders were also just "ok" the sauce was weird, not spicy, too vinegary. The cook was good on the chicken, tender and juicy. Overall, it was an ok experience, maybe I should have gotten a burger though. Great everything with options for all. Burgers are great, but most burger houses are. What separates them from many are the choices of meat grades, bison, and creative presentations. Their REAL chicken tenders are fresh and a great value. The potatoes are cut by hand and are great for dine-in, but don't travel well. Maybe a to go fry?
