I scheduled a pizza pickup for 5:05 PM. My husband and I arrived on time, and when it wasn't quite ready yet (no big deal), we politely asked if we could wait on the patio. The pizza didn't come out until 5:45, and when it finally did, a waitress came out with major attitude and told us rudely that if we planned to sit and eat, we "should've called." That was never our plan--we were just waiting for our order. My husband calmly let another staff member know we were only waiting for the pizza and weren't sure why she was being snippy. Instead of owning it, the waitress gave a half-hearted apology and rolled her eyes at me. Super unprofessional. Dropped cars off very early at Toyota and decided to have breakfast so walked across the street. From the outside, the restaurant front looks a little rough and is misleading. The entrance is in the back and it's a very lovely, cozy, little restaurant. Good menu selections, outstanding service. The entrees are reasonably sized. I wouldn't order the bacon. I had the best Chicken Marsala I think I've ever had before, with homemade pasta and delicious marinara sauce. Julian, was terrific, one of the owner's sons, and we drove him nuts, but yet he remember everything and made great wine suggestions. The desserts phenomenal. Placed an order for a work party. I called a few days in advance and spoke to Maria who gave me an exact amount of how much 2 full trays would be. I called back the morning of pick up to pay (as requested) and spoke to Auroa, and she gave me an amount of $60 more than the original price. The original amount I was given was pretty specific, so I'm not sure where the disconnect happened. Manager called me (didn't get her name) and said the price is what it is and she can't speak as to why Maria gave me a different price, but if I want the food that I would have to pay the full amount. worst take out experiance ever....ordered nearly $100 which consisted of only two items, 18 Empanadas and Chimichuri sauce, That's it! These morons managed to screw this simple order by only delivering 18 empanadas. I asked the driver where is the sauce and he said that's all they gave me and that he even asked them if they added the chimichuri and they told him yes.....you can imaging how annoying this to spend that much money and not get what you asked for and in my case its a fkn simple order....I called the restaurant asking for them to bring me what i ordered or take back my incomplete order and give me a full refund. He said he can't do anything about it because he's just a server and there's no managers working today......can you believe this crappy service? i then called their 3rd party service and they said they can only credit me what they did not delivered and if i want a full refund in need to call the restaurant....i got stuck with 18 shi...ty empanadas and no sauce. My fiancé showed me this place when we first met and it's down the street from his house in Costa Mesa, every time we come we are greeted with warm smiles and very kind staff.
