Old school diner which has been around for decades. It mainly serves the morning and lunch crowd as it closes at 5 pm and is not open on Sunday. I had the super burger which had bacon and fried egg in it. It was served with crinkle cut fries. The burger was ok, nothing super or special about it. There was not much of a service either. Basically a mom and pop shop with the pop cooking and mom serving. Unfortunately after bringing us the food, the mom disappeared. So I could not even ask for a refill of water. I think only those who live nearby eat here, as well as the old timers who work in the area. Nothing fancy. Just a regular diner serving average food.

Total throwback diner that's atmosphere brings you delightful nostalgia and joy. It's fun in there. Cute booths, decors, huge hanging menu, cool stools, serve yourself coffee, it's all fun. The food is average, my eggs and sausage were as standard as you could humanly make. $12 or so dollars though, a fully belly, I'll take it.

Old school diner in the Parkrest Plaza strip mall. By old school I mean authentic 1960s old. 1962 to be exact. Parking is plentiful in the strip mall lot. The place is like a time machine. The owners claim that the interior has basically never been updated, and I believe them. With that said, the walls and decorations are in immaculate condition. This place can easily be used as a movie set. Current owners (mom and pop) have had the place since the mid 2000s. Very friendly people. Always nice to chat with people to hear their story. The place serves old school diner food at mostly old school prices. As of the time of writing, a burger and fries is around $9. They have sandwiches, soup, fish and chips, burgers, breakfast, and even some food court style Chinese food. The daily special (cheeseburger with fries and chicken noodle soup) hit the spot. The soup is probably something out of a can and the fries are probably out of a bag from the supermarket next door, but everything was tasty. The burger bun was crisp. Tastes like home cooking. The only thing stopping me from coming back more often is their extremely short hours. The place closes at 1700 and on Sundays. In other words, anyone working regular hours would only be able to come by on Saturdays, and not for dinner. Something to keep in mind.

Can we call it retro if it was always this way? A definite time warp diner but not in a gimicky way. The food meets all the expectations of a classic diner.

Park Crest Diner is a cute little old school casual restaurant tucked in a little plaza near Holdom Station. I went in for brunch with a friend. We ordered the same dish: hot cakes, but I got hash brown on the side and she got toast and fresh fruits. They have self serve hot chocolate, tea and coffee. They're quite standard. My hot coco tasted good, it's one of the better powdered hot chocolate sachets out there. I liked my hot cakes (pancakes) with lots of syrup. The server was really nice and asked me if I wanted one less pancake because they have big servings and I am a petite woman. It was nice that she was quite worried that I might waste food, but she doesn't know how much I can eat. My friend didn't like her toast. She said that it's very hard and dry. I didn't try it because it didn't look appetizing. I might come back again to try other breakfast meals!

After spotting this place last week, I had an opportunity to come here since I was going to be in the hood. It's family run by Cantonese peeps. Family run when I hear the staff bickering at each other in Cantonese. They probably thought I was some local non canto boy. Frozen in time. 1960's decor. Arborite counter tops, and faux rock wall http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/park-crest-cafe-burnaby?select=zkmfOJNBw_BU7URGA9j8Zw#Iyy29p9-OZdznWasNwPoaQ http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/park-crest-cafe-burnaby?select=zkmfOJNBw_BU7URGA9j8Zw#JJrq4hZEcWCv-IVK9HMRzg Anyone who knows me, knows that I like my diners. The dingier, the better. This one was quite good. Good, meaning almost nothing processed. Only the fries, cheese, corn and the burger bun was non house made. Flavour was lacking but nothing a little salt can't cure! House burger came with the frozen fries and soup. I got clam chowder. The burger came with a fried egg, lettuce, tomatoes, a relish sauce and cheese. The patty was house made as evidence by the irregular shape. No salt required http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/park-crest-cafe-burnaby?select=zkmfOJNBw_BU7URGA9j8Zw#0iD3nbrq-Evobz1FBjuMBQ Soup was house made. Campbell's does not make their potatoes this size http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/park-crest-cafe-burnaby?select=zkmfOJNBw_BU7URGA9j8Zw#Iy-SjHpz5IvKaGt9oSsqfg There was celery in there too, comparable in size. Salt needed. Breaded cullets. Again house made. It was a loin chop that was pounded down. The meat tasted similar to what I do at home. Seasoning was a bit uneven. More evidence that it was house made. Mashed potatoes had lumps in it - house made, and salt needed. Corn likely frozen or from a can. A burger and fries that came with homemade soup $5.75 Breaded pork cultlet, mashed potatoes, and corn with soup. $6.95 http://www.yelp.ca/biz_photos/park-crest-cafe-burnaby?select=zkmfOJNBw_BU7URGA9j8Zw#BAnkF03hYv-slE8x1VUXag I'm not complaining. If I'm in the area again, I'm coming back. Cash only.

If I defined this place by food presentation or extreme customer service I'm sure it would be two stars less - however.... Starting with how much of a jewel this place actually is.... Sucks it's cash only.... They get bumper busy - especially so between 11:30-2pm where they don't allow singles to sit alone in the booths. I came here with a friend on a friday morning at 10:30am and ordered hotcakes (why aren't they called pancakes!?) which wasn't indicates but comes in a three stack for like $3.95. If you want meat (I asked for sausage) you pay per sausage I think. It comes lickety split but bare boned. Two margarine packs on the side. Unnamed syrup. They do refill your coffee cup but seemed to only once when my cup was full (doh). My friend said you can help yourself to the coffee station diagonal to where we sat so I relieved my empty cup of its emptiness. Poor thing. My friend had toast, three eggs and sausage. They don't seem to bring you the bill so don't wait for it to arrive - simply finish chowing abd meander over to the cash register. Once I ordered and started digging into my *Pancakes* I noticed the scookim (almost spell checked to a naughty word) lunch specials - woah. Sweet and sour chicken over chow me in $6.50. Damn. I want that now. My friend said this fantastic lost in time CLEAN location seems to often be the site of many a movie. Understandable. So awesome inside. Check em out!

    New orangle label I think.

I have always wanted to go to this diner ever since I was a little kid. It reminded me of going to a 1950's-1960's diner. I basically ordered their burger and fries. It did come with soup and the potatoes in the soup were not Campbells, since Campbells would not show big sized potatoes. The burger was handmade for sure because it did not look like burger patties from the Krusty Krab. Fries were decent. They also have Chinese food here due to the fact they speak Cantonese. However, I rather go to a Chinese restaurant then here.

Love the diner. A little time capsule. The portions are a good size meaning not huge. Just what a meal should be.

The pastries are delicious and crafted so beautifully. I came here for hot chocolate festival and the flavours were spot on. A tad sweet but it's hot chocolate. I also tried their limited time sticky rice croissant which had all the umami flavours one could want! Texture of the croissant was crunchy, butter and full of flavour. Sadly, the sticky rice texture mixed with croissant was not the best. The service here is great. Staff are friendly. The only downside to this store is the way their line up system works. They have 2 store areas, connected by the till. It's a bit hard to pass through when there are people waiting in line to pay, waiting on line to order, etc. Just a bit of awkward spacing

It's always busy but today it looked quiet at random so stumbled in. So glad i finally decided to. Cozy cute cafe where you can study and bring your labtop/ introvert friendly or quick catchup with the girls / cute coffee date etc ... The cafe is currently participating in the hot chocolate festival too but i ordered a matcha latte along with a cruffin apple cheesecake and ooo it was so delicious and bouncy airy. The center had fresh bits of apple and there was a creamy cream cheese filling and you get this texture that's a combo of crossiant and muffin .. if you love apple or even caramel etc i think it would really suit your pallette. I will order some pastries to go next time when i have more time. Staff is super friendly and patient. They handled the loads of questions i had. Super clean place too. Free parking upfront and there's parking downstairs too.

The barista was very nice! I got the Sooyo croissant, an egg tart, and a milk tea. I loved the Sooyo croissant - I'm weak to the brie/fig combo and this had just the right balance of all the ingredients on a warm and soft croissant. The egg tart was also really nice with a hint of cinnamon. It was bite-sized which was good for a small treat. I also loved the milk tea.
