Low key coffee place near the middle of Burnaby Heights. So low key I didn't notice them for years. Parking is available on the side streets. The interior is a bit of old meets new. Old style armchairs and chairs, but new style tables. Staff were friendly. No complaints. Coffee was pretty decent. I also tried their chocolate bun. Looked like a long thin swirly pile of, um, poop. It was tasty though. I liked that it wasn't ridiculously sweet. Went well with the coffee. The place is nice and quiet, and is great for chatting. I'd come back at some point. read more

Incredibly comfortable and sweet place with spectacular pastries, cakes, sandwiches and drinks. The young person who took our order was so sweet and helpful. We shared an open faced caprese sandwich that was delicious! I had the fruit blend iced tea off of their summer menu and my companion had a latte. We were both delighted. I have heard good things about this place. Street parking is available though it is challenging to find a spot. I picked up a box of pastries and they were delicious. I had some of them a couple of days later and they were still crispy after I reheated in the oven. No sogginess or staleness in them. Quite remarkable actually. I like the pastries (chocolate almond croissant, cruffin and savory tart) more than the carrot cake. It was still good but I had better elsewhere. There were two entrances to the cafe. I did not know and went in via the mini grocery store front. There were lots of products from the Middle East. The cafe itself was fairly big with plenty of tables. Staff was friendly too. I would definitely be back when I have more time and dine here. read more

I LOVE Cup & Bun Cafe! It is a Persian/Western fusion Cafe, owned by a recently immigrated man from Iran. I love how wondering and welcoming he is. He noticed that I have been coming here a few times during the week, that he gave me samples of Persian black tea. He also gave everyone seated samples! I love that the cafe offers organic herbal teas. They also carry oat milk for those who prefer milk alternatives. I love that the teas tell me the health benefits of each flavour. I aways try something different everytime I come in for tea. It's very relaxing to sit and read a book, or catch up with friends at Cup&Bun. There is quite a selection of food and beverages as there is a massive menu on the right side of the cashier area. I'm happy to be a regular customer in this local cafe! They also have a store to purchase Persian goods located right beside the cafe. read more

It was a stat holiday and the Hubs and I walked in at the early afternoon. The pastries are all sold out so we got a macchiato and a large cappuccino. The place is cozy with some tables and chairs, with a couple of bistro tables outside. Service was a bit slow as they have one person running the whole cafe. I don't think I see many outlets so it is better for chatting and little bit of work. No specific WiFi - I found Shaw Open. The drinks arrived within 8 mins. The place uses Argo coffee beans. Cappuccino ($4.65): 3/5 the drink comes in 2 shots, but it seemed a bit lacking in flavour in cream and some espresso flavours. Macchiato ($3.65): 3/5 it was not bad, but not great either. Just ok in flavour. Overall: ok atmosphere to have a seat and chat. Drinks are ok. read more

We stopped at this little gem en route to Whistler from Vancouver, on New Year's Day 2024! And what a delightful stop it was! Coffee and freshly prepared food was DELICIOUS! We were out for a walk and the bistro tables outside looked very sunny so we decided to stop for a coffee. We did both just have lattes so I do not have a lot to say. The cafe inside looked cute and spacious. There were people inside in groups and also on their own working at their tables. Service was fine. Maybe a bit slow but nothing to complain about. The bistro tables outside, you are on a sidewalk on Hastings but what a lovely little sun trap. It was a cold day but we took off our jackets. Oh, and the coffee was great. read more

Limited selections and not a lot of vegetarian options available. My friend and I dropped by here on our way up to West Vancouver to pick up breakfast and lunch to go for our hike. My friend is vegetarian, and unfortunately for him they didn't have a lot of options. We ended up grabbing tomato and spinach strudels, since they didn't have any vegetarian sandwiches other than a triple cheese sandwich. They list falafel platter as an option on their food menu, but disappointingly it wasn't available that day. I grabbed the vanilla cruffin for breakfast and got a ham and cheese croissant for lunch. we found this little gem closer to where we were staying in Burnaby. we ordered a cinnamon bun, smoked salmon open faced sandwich and two lates. The salmon sandwich was to die for! I have been a couple of times and love the place! The coffee is great, the service, while a bit slow, is lovely (slow service is a new normal and that's okay as long as staff ackowledge me). The drinks are not your regular coffee and flavored syrups, thank gosh. That stuff can be found at other "coffee" shops, which are typically more flavour and less coffee-no thanks. The food choices are also lovely. Again, not the same old. Nice Ethnic pastries and sandwiches to choose from-someone mentioned Persian. All and all, a nice addition to the neighbourhood. read more
