I like this place. It's cozy and bright. Its close to where I live now. It's clean and there's plenty of parking. I usually go to coffee shops to hangout and do some work or read online, while having coffee. I just realized this place has limited wifi, about 15 mins. Odd because it is standard everywhere now. Even laundromat's have wifi. I guess come here if ur just looking to have coffee quickly. Its not one of those places where one can finish something for work, study, or do a virtual meeting. As people stay longer people order throughout their stay, at least thats what I do. Disappointed about this aspect as I now have to drive further to my usual coffee shop. read more

Gigi Blin Market Cafe is one of my favourite cafe in the Marpole neighbourhood. It is inside an old building that both the exterior and interior give you a bit of nostalgic feeling. I have been here for a few times for breakfast and coffee. The breakfast croissants, danish and coffee are pretty nice. Hazelnut latte tasted good especially. It is interesting in this time of visit, their staff members and the barista are all Japanese ladies. This made me feel like enjoying an afternoon tea in Yufuin, Kyushu of Japan. Came for breakfast on a weekday. Not too busy. We got the breakfast sandwich, a latte and an affogato. Their prices are really affordable. Coffee is really good. The latte art never got destroyed even until when we got to the bottom. That's how you know it was a good latte. Their beans are from Umbria. The croissant breakfast sandwich is very simple. Just ham and a little vegetable. Grilled to crispy perfection and the pickle is the perfect addition. The affogato we got as a little reward for ourselves for breakfast. A wonderful neighborhood cafe serving up very good coffee, pastries, sandwiches, and also has a few grocery items you can pick up while there (like pasta, sauce, ice cream, milk, etc)! My drink of choice there is their mocha and the almond croissants are delicious too and often sell out if you go later in the day. They don't make their pastries/sandwiches in-house though as they specialize in coffee, but their wholesaler for food deserves props too because they're good! They are opened with limited seating at this time and is normally a comfortable place to catch up with friends or do a bit of work. Staff are friendly and keep the tables clean. read more

Another day another coffee shop I love. I've had Gigi Blin on my bookmarks for sometime now. Ive driven by numerous times but never stopped. One day I was in the area. It wasn't busy. Big space, cafe with great selections of groceries and local handcrafted jewelry and such. A group of elderly ladies having a girls coffee date at the communal table, another young lady on her laptop and another enjoying his coffee. Lovely and peaceful. My kind of hangout. I ordered a latte and a pastry, sorry I forgot what it was called but its in my pictures. It was enormous and also yummy. I even had a lady ask me what it was. Buttery and chocolaty. We had lattes here two mornings while we were visiting Vancouver and their coffee is so smooth and fresh. Coffee connoisseurs--take note! Hot and iced lattes were both delicious as were their chocolate croissants. They even have a liquid sugar pump (simple syrup) for those who want a little sweetness to their coffee without a flavor. This cafe (and market) caught my eye when I was stuck in heavy traffic on West 70th Avenue on my way to Richmond a few days ago. The name on the hanging sign was interesting, and from the outside it looked like a pretty hip little cafe, so I made a spur-of-the-moment decision to turn around, park, and stop in for a drink. The interior has a very modern "hipster" cafe feel. I loved the rustic wood decor and the long communal table in the middle of the cafe. There are also bar seats facing one of the windows & two smaller individual tables facing the other window. I got a London Fog, which was really good - frothy steamed milk, rich tea taste and just the right amount of sweetness. They also had some baked goods available but I didn't try any this time as I was heading to dinner shortly. The market part of this place is simply just some shelves of groceries (mostly dry goods). Really nice ambience, free wifi, and ample parking in this residential neighbourhood. Will definitely be back again soon! read more

This coffee shop at this location in Marpole stands out and attracts people who love coffee. You can't find this type of coffee shop unless you are closer to Cambie, Kitsilano or downtown Vancouver. The latte that we ordered was great. Very artistic! It was not like the regular latte that had a pattern in it. The flavour and texture were great. It's a great place to do some reading or catch up on some work -- tons of space, reliable wi-fi, and lots of natural light! This storefront has been empty waaay too long. The big windows, clean white paint, and warm wood floors make Gigi Blin very inviting. There is a full drink menu, although some of the items are not yet available. I will definitely be coming back when they have ice cream to make Affogato. Because espresso over ice cream has to happen. They serve Umbria coffee, which is okay but a bit bitter to my taste. They serve Two Leaves & A Bud tea, which is good quality. The market portion has a variety of groceries, such as dried pasta, pickled beets, cookies and crackers. Some of the brands are familiar (such as Anna's cookies) or local (Hard Bite chips), while others are imports or harder-to-find (like Haribo gummies). The gentleman who served me was pleasant, friendly but not overly chatty. He let me look around the shelves, over the food and then took my order. Both to-go and for-here cups available. I've been to a lot of smaller cafes where they aren't quite stocked, but he definitely had the essentials at hand. The baked goods included croissants, cake pops, and scones. They also serve sandwiches/paninis and had three options available. I'd definitely go back to try a panini. The prices are a bit higher than other cafes ($3.15 for an iced americano compared to $2.95 at chains/franchises such as Blenz) but I'm happy to support a local business. read more

Gigi Blin is the new coffee shop in the Marpole area on the corner of 70th and Cartier. They are a fairly brand new cafe/market that has recently opened up so it still is kind of a secret in Vancouver. I love my coffee and I have a tendency to go quite out of my way for coffee...not the Starbucks or Tim Hortons stuff which i compare to the experience of drinking battery acid (or what I would think the experience would be like). So yeah, I love my coffee and I tend to drink it black as I find with good quality beans, there is enough of a flavour profile in the beans that there is no need for additional sweetness to it. This cafe uses Umbria coffee beans....not really my favorite. I find Umbria to be a little to "burnt" and something that loses a lot of flavour other beans such as Matchstick, 49th Parallel or Pallet would have naturally. So usually when i go here, I get either a cappuccino or a latte. The baristas make decent lattes here and the milk (4% whole milk) adds a nice creaminess to the coffee. Their desserts come from Swiss Bakery in Vancouver. They are good, not the best, but better then Tim Hortons. So if you like a healthy portion of butter in your desserts (it's not a dessert if it doesn't have butter) then you will do well here. I have had the almond croissant and the chocolate almond croissant. It's got a nice crunch and is generous in portion size. Overall, this is a welcome addition to the very lacking Marpole area and I am excited to see where this little market place will go. read more

This poor little dilapidated storefront at 70th & Cartier was begging to be used. And, as a Gastown refugee (Cheap rent! Bigger apartments! More trees!) I rejoice as the hipsterfication of Marpole begins with the addition of Gigi Blin. The decor is simple but lovely: lots of reclaimed wood, crisp white surfaces and red accents. There is tons of light flooding in and a long table along with some more intimate seating make this a great place to sit and read, or simply sip coffee. The coffee so far has been great. They're using a Victoria Arduino machine, Umbria espresso, and Island Farms milk. I'd recommend the Cortado, served in a short glass, with one of the chewy ginger snaps. The small market selection includes a kind of weird array of stuff: Italian pastas, European pickles, Haribo gummies, Hardbite chips. I'd love to see some more local items. All in all, a welcome addition to the neighbourhood and I wish them a lot of success! read more

While vacationing in Toronto my friend and I were looking for a coffee shop to do some writing in that wasn't a Starbucks. This little shop has an excellent set of sandwiches, teas and coffees. Cute coffee shop located at 70th and Cartier. I've only had London fog here and used my time to work on projects in the cafe. It's really cute and relaxing. Music isn't too loud and the staff are friendly. They were training a new person when I asked for my drink. When my drink was ready, I found a tiny piece of hair and told the women at the front. She first said that it's not hair and that it's a scratch in the mug until she moved it and said that I was correct. She remade my drink for me and I wasn't an angry customer or anything. I kindly accepted my new drink and thought that it was good. The London fog I had was a bit more watery than what I am used to. Will try this place again. read more

I lived in Gigi Blin's neighbourhood for a good decade. They opened up a year or two before I moved away and I often walked by with my dog wishing I could try the place. They did a real nice job inside, but alas my dog was not one of those friendly sort that you can leave outside for a few minutes, so I never went in up until now. I'd like to say it was worth the wait, but it was not. The iced mochas were very good, the cookie was good, but the almond croissant was clearly day old or, I suspect, worse. Dry overall and crusty hard on the ends. Quite possibly the worst croissant I've had in a long time. Definitely not worth the money I spent on it. Disappointing. Likely won't go back. read more

I finally got around to coming here as part of my 100 coffee shops in 52 weeks challenge. Here is the issue I have with this place is their hours of operation which makes it tough to come out during the regular business week. It's a shame 'cause I would come more often since all I have to do is take the 100 bus from my house to hear and walk up a few blocks. I understand since it's not surrounded by a lot of foot traffic, however, even staying open until 6 would be helpful. There is lots of space inside, nice and sleek. Very hipster looking in decor.
