We stopped by for a #3 Viet Xiu Mai sandwich combo with a pork spring roll and coke. My hubs had the #7 Deluxe Classic with extra mayo. What we received were hot, juicy and crispy sandwiches that were sliced in half for us since we decided to dine in. All the flavours we expected were there however we noticed that the sandwich size had gotten smaller since the last time we were here a few months ago. The fillings to bun ratio were balanced but there seemed to be less room for the pickled veg and cilantro toppings. This would also mean that the fillings were reduced to match the bun size too. No what I was expecting. My spring roll was fresh, hot and meaty. Better than expected. My sandwich combo was $14.50 while my hubs sandwich was $11 which is not bad but was better in the past. Value verdict: 4/5 because they reduced the size of their sandwiches and the quantity of fillings. Service at the order counter was helpful and prompt delivery of the sandwiches to our table was most appreciated. They have a large selection of canned cold drinks from a self serve cooler as well offering traditional Vietnamese coffee, fruit flavoured teas and lemonade drinks. One of the reasons we chose to dine in in this tiny shop was for their air conditioning and to eat our sandwiches hot and fresh. Very limited number of tables (2) and a window counter to seat 3-4 diners. They do offer a frequent sandwich buyer feature. Cash and all cards accepted. No washroom. Used to be my go to for a quick and delicious lunch, even though they aren't the cheapest option! Unfortunately, the last few times I've gone I've noticed a decline in quality and likely won't be back. Less toppings, veggies haven't been fresh and bread noted to be a bit stale also. Overall meat quality seems to be lower as well. Service is semi slow but the stores are always clean. Nice that they have a loyalty program for those who still enjoy it. We got the lemongrass chicken, lemongrass pork, and satay beef sandwiches. Prices are $7-$9 each. Pretty good sized sandwiches, at least 10 inches long. The banh mi baguette bread is pretty good, nice crunch on the outside without being too hard, and soft on the inside. I ate the satay beef one and there's a decent amount of meat along with the tangy picked daikon and coriander. Satay flavor not super strong. The bread here is immaculate! I've tried quite a few banh mis all over the U.S., and Obanhmi probably has the best bread omg. I thought the roof of my mouth was going to be done for, but wow, what a pleasant surprise! It was crispy crunchy goodness that was so easy to bite into! The interior was soft and not dry. I didn't come here for the 20% promo but paid full price. I thought the sandwich was good! Way better than some places we have here in SoCal for sure. I got the cold cut and ate it while I siting for our flight to board. It was a nice light Flavor, meats tasted fresh too. When converted from CAD to USD it was actually really cheap, only $6.83! Great deal for a big sandwich. I would personally add a bit more soy sauce, Vietnamese Mayo, and pickled carrots and daikon but overall I liked the banh mi. Very fresh tasting. New Vietnamese banhmi shop opened in Richmond near Richmond public market. They offered 20%off for the grand opening special. We ordered Sate beef sandwich and Halal chicken lemongrass combo. For combo you can choose one spring roll and one drink. The Sate beef is tender but I don't taste too much of flavour this time. I think it could have more flavor of the meat. I like the lemongrass chicken better because it actually has more flavor. Chicken also tastes good and tender. Nice option for a quick bite in Central Richmond area. read more

New location opened in Richmond across from Richmond public market. I saw the balloons and the menu outside. Looks clean. Looks good. Looks worth. You can order a single bahn mi or get a combo with a drink and a spring roll appy. Hububs and I ordered two combos with upgraded drinks and upgraded one of the appetizers to the nem fries. (If we're gonna try something new, might as well try it all). Drinks: Avocado shake (3.5/5) : took about 2-3 sips to taste it. The avocado was light and refreshing and not disgustingly sweet. I like. Viet ice coffee (4/5): barely took a sip and the strong coffee flavour smacked me right in the mouth. Just what I was looking for. I could taste the condensed milk but this drink was also not disgustingly sweet. Love it. Bahn Mi: The bahn mis were good. Pretty mid but tipping towards good. I would buy the bread alone....warmy and crusty and tastey. The fillings were ok. Pretty standard. It isn't something I'd be clamouring to get but if I walk past it, as I did the other day, I'd be like..."yes, I would like to eat a bahn mi". Beef sate (3/5): It's supposedly spicy, but I didn't taste the spice. Wasn't bad though. Lemongrass chicken (3/5): pretty standard. A little salty. (Note: be careful. The wrapping is nice so it is easy to eat but if you are a messy eater, you don't stand a chance with all the crumbs) Appetizers: Nem fries (2.5/5 for me, 4.5/5 for hubby): minced garlic pork wrapped in egg roll. Crispy. Tasted good. Was ok for me but my husband loved it. My filipino tastebuds enjoy something fuller like lumpia. Pork cha gio (3.8/5): not bad. Crispy and warm. Yum. Service: Suuuuper friendly staff. Makes the experience more enjoyable. It would have been nice if there was a washroom to wash hands but that's ok. I'm very picky when it comes to Vietnamese food but this is the best banh mi I've had outside of Saigon, VN!!! Not cheap on the meat cuts, bread was light and crispy, and they use gloves while preparing your banh mi which is great. read more

It's their Grand Opening Day today and it seems their 20% Discount is attracting a lot of customers. They opened at 11:00am. It is just across from the park behind the Richmond Public Market. It's a cafe style with just a few tables inside. I was their first customer of the day. Though they have a big sign showing the 20% discount, it's limited to only the sandwiches, doesn't include the combo deals. Service was excellent by the manager. Because it's just their first day, I guessed they are still lacking in some ways. Their poster and menus shows the subs and the spring rolls has been cut in half but not what they served to the customer. The spring roll's sauce is different from the usual. I prefer the usual one that is made of fish sauce. I ordered their DeLuxe Combo which came with one spring roll and upgraded the beverage to a Vietnamese Coffee. The banhmi wasn't warm when I got my order. I couldn't complain to the Manager because there were a lot of customers that came in after me. At the end, he came around asking how was the sandwich. I told him honestly, that the sandwich wasn't hot when I got it since I was eating there, I also didn't find any pate inside plus the jalapeno he was asking me earlier. I guessed since they just opened, I think the kitchen people are not that organized yet. To make up for it, he compensated me with another sub. Their DeLuxe banhmi was ok and I think it will get better as the kitchen people will be better organized after a few days. Their iced Vietnamese coffee tasted great. read more
