Return or not return? Maybe. Had to try based on reading reviews. Why 3 stars? - Bland sandwich, bland salad roll, coffee is ok (though "thin"). That said, staff are polite, friendly. Salad roll ratio of meat vs other way off. See picture. Bahn mi ordered both honey garlic and lemongrass. Just too bland (and forgot jalapeños in one of them) Prices a tad on the higher side, and no issues paying but walked away with a lot of blah and not memorable.
Worst food I've had in Vancouver in over 3 years I've lived in this city... ordered lemongrass banh mi sandwich and paid $2 extra for avocado... well, there was barely any chicken in there and one slice of avocado in the entire sandwich... the chicken was boiled and not lemongrass as advertised... what a disgrace
Obanhmi is a small shop located on Kingsway and it remains my absolute favourite spot to get delicious banh mi! * Deluxe Cold Cut (7.5) Their Deluxe Cold Cut is filled with savory pâté, mayo, jambon, Vietnamese ham, and seasoned extra-lean pork belly. The cold pickled veggies and jalapeños added a refreshing contrast! * Lemongrass Chicken (6.75) The Lemongrass Chicken banh mi is beautifully marinated with lemongrass, red curry and Asian sweet chili sauce! I loved it with an extra drizzle of sriracha! The bread is also always crunchy on the outside with a soft and fluffy interior. If you check them out, don't forget to take advantage of their 15% off for online orders!
I ordered a deluxe cold cut banh mi through DoorDash. I received an email and text confirmation quickly that the restaurant received my order. It was quite fast. When I got to the restaurant and picked up my food in 15 mins or so, the banh mi was ready for pickup. The restaurant was quite efficient. It was my first time to try the banh mi here. The deluxe cold cut banh mi tasted delicious. The bun was crispy outside and soft inside. There was a lot of ingredients as well. It was great to eat it fresh!! It was big enough for me that I had to save some for the next day haha I would recommend this banh mi restaurant to others. I know there is competition in the neighborhood but in terms of quality and quantity this one is QUITE GOOD!! I had some banh mi elsewhere. The bun was big and had less ingredients or it was cheaper elsewhere but the quality was not good.
I've ordered here 3 times already and have tried the classic cold cut and the deluxe cold cut. The deluxe is worth the extra few $ and has more meat. Solid bahn mi's with excellent Vietnamese coffee. One of the three times, the bread wasn't as good, but still a a delicious. Not a fan of the salad rolls, but not a dealbreaker for me. I'll be back for more.
I think I may have found my new favorite banh mi place!! We ordered a variety of items and the ones I liked are: * the bottled Vietnamese iced coffee - strong and not too sweet! There is a label that indicate it's freshly brewed daily. I personally like the bottled version more because they'd put ice cubes in the cup version and I hate how it waters down my coffee. This was delicious! * deluxe cold cut - why I said this is my new fav place for banh mi. The sandwich was packed with deli meat!! Like, I'd bite into it and I'd get a mouthful. The other places didn't provide such a satisfaction. The deluxe differs from the classic in that it has the classic plus some lean pork deli. * garlic pork salad roll - this one was a nice alternative to the typical shrimp salad roll. It was delicious as I'm normally not a fan of the shrimp roll. Now, onto the items I didn't like as much: 1) the nem fries, which was minced garlic pork wrapped in wonton wrappers and deep fried. The filling wasn't much so I was mostly eating deep fried wonton wrapper. I'd recommend the garlic pork roll if you wanted to get sides. 2) sate beef banh mi - I didn't get that mouthful sensation as I did with the deluxe. It was also spicy and I'm personally not a fan of sate beef. Tips: Order online for pickup and get 15% off. Order banh mi and coffee together and get $1 off.

I had the pleasure to try Obanhmi thanks to a friend's recommendation as she had done an Instagram collaboration with them. She had mentioned that this place had great banh mi's with a fantastic price point and quality. I ordered a meal with sate beef banh mi and pork spring roll while my boyfriend ordered the honey garlic chicken banh mi meal. Both came with drinks on the side and each meal was estimated between $14-$16 depending on the drink we got. The shop had just been renovated with a clean white and red interior. I really liked the cute newspaper with Vietnamese culture as wallpaper! Taste wise - the pork spring rolls looked simple but they actually tasted great! The filling really reminded me of my dad's spring rolls...lots of meat and vermicelli. My banh mi was nicely sized with a decent amount of meat and veggies, the beef was well flavoured and had a nice aroma. For the honey garlic, my boyfriend and I did both find it a bit dry...We wished there would be more sauce in the banh mi (or more vegetable filling). The shop also features adorable multi-colour drinks. I didn't try any as I ordered an ice coffee (which hit the perfect spot for me btw) but my party all gave high praise to the tasty and unique drinks. Overall, I enjoyed Obanhmi and would definitely come again if I were in the area!
I have been wanting to try the Banh mi here since my friend told me it serves halal Banh mi. Only 1 is halal and that is the lemongrass chicken. I am not sure if you need to specify you want the halal version. We had the lemongrass chicken and classic cold cut. I much prefer the classic cold cut. Very tasty. I wish they added sriracha and hoisin sauce on it too. Maybe I need to ask? The iced Vietnamese coffee is good, strong and flavorful. The pork spring rolls were average, not something I will get again. There are meal combos which include the spring roll and water or pop. Add $3 for iced coffee. If you do not want the spring roll, just get the coffee as it is a dollar off with a Banh mi purchase. There is also a 15% discount for online order for pick up. We didn't do that as it seemed like a hassle. There is also a loyalty program where you get a free sandwich with 10 points (1 point for each sandwich). You can also purchase chicken broth, frozen meat and meatball to make your own pho at home. Dessert and bottled Vietnamese coffee are also in the chiller for purchase. Limited seating for dine in due to covid. Nice clean space though. Street parking is available on kingsway and side streets.
Decent banh mi (Vietamese sandwich) place along Kingsway. Parking is free in front outside of the afternoon rush hour. The inside looks a bit like a modern hipster coffee shop. Technically this isn't too misleading as they do serve (authentic) Vietnamese coffee after all. I tried both the #1 (Lemongrass chicken) and #8 (Classic cold cut) sandwiches. Both are tasty, but a wee bit more expensive than the competition. Both were also not as spicy as I was expected. Might want to mention this to the staff if spicy is your thing. The spring rolls here are rather mediocre. They're rather thin (almost like hot dog wieners) and weren't anything special. I would skip these. Wouldn't mind coming back, but there are quite a few other options in the area.
I loved the packaging and the taste of their Banmi Vietnamese subs. They are well done and at a fair price . Subs are good portions too so no complaints A dedicated Banh mi place at good prices is just what Richmond needed !
I ordered the sate beef, deluxe cold cut, and nem fries for delivery through Doordash. The cold cut was sooo yummy! I've never tried cold cut banh mis before and I have definitely been missing out! I almost want to say I like it better than the sate beef. The one issue with our order is the nem fries were forgotten when it was packed and we didn't get to try it :( Luckily Doordash refunded the fries and I'll try again another time.

Ordered online for the Classic sandwich and Deluxe Classic bahn mi. The Deluxe is an extra $1.50 and has extra lean pork belly meat that the classic bahn mi doesn't have. Bread was fresh and warm - crunchy on the outside but soft inside. Perfect baguette! Good portion of meat and fresh veggies but didn't taste any of the jalapeño. I like that you can personalize your bahn mi (no mayo, veggies on the side, not toasted, cut in half, etc.), especially getting it cut in half. My only wish was that there was more pate as I could barely see or taste it. Solid bahn mi for the taste, quality, and price. read more
Came for a late dinner Thursday evening at 6:30pm (Boxing day). We asked for the two top sellers: Beef sate and mixed deli Banh mi for the two of us. Bunch of takeout orders and customers came in as we waited. Banh mis were ready within a few minutes. 2 banh mis with tax and tip for $18 Pro's: - hearty amount of sandwich filling - bread isn't too crumbly and has a nice chew to it - friendly staff and food came out promptly - easy street parking right on kingsway - beef sate was very tender and warm to the bite - decent selection on the menu with a dozen options for banh mi with the option to add a spring roll and beverage (ex. I went here on January 30th (Thursday) to get some Banhmi sandwich. I had a hard time whether to go to Ngon or Obanhmi at first, but good thing I went here. I haven't even tried Ngon yet maybe I'll try it one day. Anyways I got Deluxe Cold Cut ($6) and the sandwich was good. The buns were big and crispy filled with Vietnamese hams and veggies. It was pretty good and didn't taste salty. Although I found the price to be expensive, it was worth it. Staff was so friendly and helpful. I even asked her about bottled Vietnamese coffee (it's $3 or $3.25 in a small size) she told me it's strong and concentrated. It looked quite bitter;however, I felt the necessity to try it one day. I always had Banhmi and iced coffee for a daily breakfast in Vietnam and never got tired of it. I really liked the portion of my sandwich. Ordered the #7 The Deluxe Classic and #8 The Classic, and both sandwiches were absolutely delicious. The bread was soft and fresh, and the meats and veggies were fresh as well and not soggy. To complement the sandwiches, I tried the Vietnamese coffee which was perfectly brewed and the Mango Smoothie which was an absolute must-try. The smoothie was made fresh with real mango bits and my boyfriend, who is a smoothie lover, absolutely loved it! Pricing is very reasonable, and the service is to par. Clean place as well! Small Vietnamese Sandwich (Banh Mi) shop in Vancouver, BC, Canada. I ordered their special banh mi and beef sate banh mi, but forgot to take photos because I was hungry and ate it right away. Anyways, they are pretty good. I also really like their avocado smoothie and mango smoothie, not too sweet and very tasty because they use real fruits and not too much ice and good amount of condensed milk and milk. You should also try their smoothies next time you come here to order some banh mi. The service is excellent. I stepped in and some girl greeted me and ready to take my order. As I'm living along Victoria Dr., my to go banh mi place was Banh Mi Saigon but I fall in love here too! Both are good but here has another reasons to come. French baguette was airly and flaky. I could finish easily. Lots of mayo and vegetables and a little or non of jalapeno. I would say their sandwich is milder. The lemon grass chicken was so juicy and tender. Bahn mi Saigon always add green coloured salty sauce at end and it makes me thirsty later (I guess MSG?) But here I didn't taste something like that. Simply good food. I ordered as meal which includes one pop and two spring rolls. The sweet chili sauce was way too sweet. I wish there was more vinegar flavor in it. Obanhmi is another banh mi shop to have opened in recent times. It's located on the same street that houses Ngon Banh Mi and Tea, Cafe Xu Hue, Veggie Bowl and Sushi by Yuji. A lot of good food in one area. We dropped by on a Saturday for lunch (around 12:30pm). There was a line of people that kept coming in. The inside is new with 5 tables and a couple seats by the window to people watch. Their fridge is also stocked with meats from Viet Huong Flavors (same owners as Obanhmi) and Lemongrass Queen so you can take home beef balls, lemongrass chicken and BBQ pork. Prices were in the $8.99 to 12.99 range. The menu is small with 8 banh mi options, sides and drinks. They offer two combos; banh mi combo (gets you spring rolls and pop/water) while the coffee combo saves you $1.00. They also have a loyalty program (buy 10 banh mi, get one free). - Vietnamese coffee ($4.25) - French press with condensed milk and iced. The coffee is intense but in a good way. I don't drink coffee but I'd get this again. - Deluxe cold cut ($6.00) - pâté, house mayo, Vietnamese ham, and seasoned pork belly. This was the better of the two banh mi's that we tried. B liked the bread; slight crunch and an enjoyable mouth feel. The jalapenos were actually spicy. Rest of the toppings (cilantro, pickled daikon and carrots) were standard but good. - Beef sate ($6.00) - beef marinated in sate spicy sauce. It sounded great on paper but the meat to bread ratio is way off. Barely any beef included. A bit on the pricey side. Obanhmi doesn't beat our favourite banh mi shops but I'd come back to this place over Ngon's a few doors down. read more

I had such high hopes after looking at the menu and reading a few of the more recent reviews. I noticed their prices were a little higher than some of my favourite banh mi places but I wanted to give this place a try. I ordered their regular meat banh mi, nem nuong banh mi, their lemon grass chicken banh mi, and their premium iced coffee drink. When I picked up my take out order I was greeted by friendly staff and I appreciated their branding. I asked if they made their bread in house in which they replied they do not but emphasized how everything besides their bread was made in house. Although I was a little disappointed with the bread not being freshly made in house I was still excited to try their sandwiches and I was craving a good Vietnamese iced coffee. I had read online on their menu that the premium iced coffee had a secret ingredient (I really wish I asked what that ingredient was, because maybe I would have just ordered a regular iced coffee). So unfortunately things went a bit downhill as I left the establishment. I took a sip of the iced coffee and I noticed there some "bits" as I sipped at my drink which was off putting to me. At first I thought "are these pieces of ground coffee beans that weren't strained properly?" but It wasn't bitter and as I analyzed what this weird texture was, it appeared to be bits of raw coconut flakes (I could be wrong....but whatever it was, I did not enjoy it). I also found the drink to be really sweet. I have a huge sweet tooth so for me to say it's too sweet would equate it to being wayyy to sweet for the average person. Heading read other ppl's comments and the owner's response to the drink being sweet, I thought it would have been rectified...perhaps they have changed it...but to me the drink is way too sweet. Now to the banh mi's. The positives: fillings were flavoured well and the ratio of veggies to meat were great. The downside was the bread. I really wanted to love their banh mi's because I thought the staff are genuinely nice people and it's great they make their own fillings....however if the bread is not good, it's hard to give this place a higher rating, especially if they are in competition with some really good places close by and are a tad bit cheaper. I'm happy to pay for a higher priced banh mi, but your overall product has to be better than others. I was reading the lower reviews (not many so far) and I have to agree the bread is bad. It doesn't taste fresh. A good banh mi should have a nice crisp to it, without having to put it in the oven. I ate it as is and it definitely had a chewy texture which left me really disappointed. It has been a really long time where I've felt this disappointed about a Vietnamese sub. The bread really ruined it for me and the iced coffee was just not very good. It's enough for me to not come back...and that's hard for me to say because I really like supporting nice owners! read more

Fast and easy ordering for takeout/ the passion strawberry drink is super refreshing maybe 5% too sweet but definitely awesome. The sandos are great, the baguette fresh and soft, wee bit heavy on the butter, but I've tried all the pork and classic varieties of Banh mi here and they're all good. read more
I can't get over how delicious these Banh Mi are! I usually go for just the classic cold cut but decided to also try out their lemongrass chicken as well after reading some great reviews! And that lemongrass lived up to the reviews! It was extra flavourful and has good portion stuffed into the banh mi too! They are a great size too where the bread seems a longer than most! These are huge, twice the size of what I am used to in Australia. Got a pork and lemongrass chicken banh mi, wonder if I finish both? Lemongrass is a definite the winner. Pickled daikon and carrot is super fresh, great thing is they aren't super saucy, and don't drip over you from the bottom of the bag. The bags are heavy duty which help too, and great marketing and merchandising with their bags. Sorry, no pics, this is Covid, their tasty and I was too damn hungry! I know, I know... I've been on a bit of a banh mi kick recently. Well, who can blame me? When done right, this is the perfect lunch item and packed with so much flavour (sorry Subway). Obanhmi is a tiny shop located on Kingsway that serves up... you guessed it... banh mi sandwiches! I stopped by in December to try out their Lemongrass Chicken Banh Mi ($6.75) with lemongrass marinated chicken, red curry, asian sweet chili sauce, garlic, ginger, basil, soy sauce, and fish sauce. I couldn't resist trying this new-ish banh mi spot. I went between 3-6pm and there is no parking allowed in front of the store. Plenty of parking on side streets, tho. I ordered the deluxe cold cut banh mi mainly for the pate. I didn't want the mayo but I was told it's a house mayo and convinced me to try just a little. The addition of pork belly gave it a somewhat different texture which was nice. I could definitely taste the pate also. Good proportions of the usual veggies. The best part of this banh mi was the bread. I loved that the crust wasn't too hard. I didn't ask if the bread was made in house or not. The service was very courteous. What a good deal for lunch nowadays. I wish I had an obanhmi around work! Fav was the Deluxe cold cut w/ pate, house mayo, Vietnamese ham & seasoned pork belly. Very tasty & special. Doesn't taste like any banhmi I had before. Also enjoyed the Sate beef because I love beef. It's also very tasty w/ garlic/lemongrass flavour. The Nem fries (grilled pork sausage wrapped in wonton wrap) is fun, tasty & worth the try! Haven't seen this anywhere else. Everything tastes fresh, they make their ingred at their own factory. One of the best banh mi in the area! The owners are really friendly and accommodating. She let me try the spring rolls and told me what's good. Signature coffee has coconut inside the cafe delicious! Buy 10 get one free with the vip card. Prices are fair and the quality is way better than banh mi Saigon in my opinion. They also have frozen deli and many pop available. read more

Obanhmi is one of my fav places to get banh mi. I got the lemongrass chicken which is my go to and it is SO GOOD. If you like crisp crusts on your baguette you will get that here. The Vietnamese coffee is also sooooo good and comes in this cute water bottle thing which also makes it easier to drink. read more

So damn delicious! Took off one star though because they gave me the wrong sandwich and we were really looking forward to trying that one :( Tried the deluxe cold cut yesterday and had to come back today to try more. Had the lemongrass chicken which did not disappoint as well. Tried the garlic pork (which was supposed to be the xiu Mai) but it was still delicious so we aren't upset. What I love the most is how the bread isn't too crunchy so you're not tearing up the inside of your mouth while you eat . And the banh mis weren't dry at all. The soda limegrass drink and avocado smoothie was also tasty and very refreshing. Everything was so delicious. Will definitely be back and check my order before I leave the restaurant read more
