Hands down best jalapeno poppers and fried chicken in town! I have dined here before but this time I ordered from Uber eats and they were quiet quick for a Saturday night. Their jalapeno poppers are to die for!! I got their 20 pieces box which was good as a starter for 4 people. It is the right amount of spicy and very cheesy!! Best part about the poppers - their dipping sauce YUMMMM! I'm also a big fan of their biscuits and fries. Their biscuits are super soft on the inside and crispy on the outside, I would recommend ordering this with their jalapeno poppers because it balances out the heat. The biscuits are on the sweeter side.. super comforting. The fries are also thick yet crispy.. hard to find that! And of course their fried chicken is amazing! Gosh I love Church's chicken so much and what a great spot to get that late night craving filled. This location served me some great fresh two piece chicken with gravy and fries. The fries were still crispy when I got home and the chicken was so juicy and had a great crunch to the skin. The gravy was bit lumpy but the flavour was there. They were cranking out soooo much chicken when I had arrived which just made my eyes light up and the smell was amazing. Will be back for sure! read more

This made it difficult to get the exact order I wanted and ended up costing me more for less food. -1 Classic chicken sandwich. While it looked tasty, the sandwich had a heavy sauce that made it really unappetizing. The extra wait time for sandwiches wasn't mentioned before I ordered. On the positive side, the location is convenient and has free parking. The classic chicken was pretty good and tasted fresh and crispy. Their chicken used to be good here, but the last two times I went, it seems as though they take their chicken from the warmer and then throw it back into the oil to reheat. I've never had a spicy piece of chicken from churchs with such a light coloured skin. Also the skin was not crispy.....it was surprisingly stale and the piece just tasted like oil. I can't deny my love for fried chicken, though I'm always cringing when I think of the calories and the possibility of unhealthy oil used in frying food at such chain restaurants. Anyways, I was quite disappointed when I ordered an 8-piece chicken to go a few days ago.I ordered all spicy but when we got home and started eating, not all the pieces were spicy! In all honesty, we do not like their original version at all, so having originals instead of spicy was disappointing - if I recall correctly, 3/8 were original. I think they really need to figure out and differentiate O vs S. Maybe have a divider or different colour trays or something. Eyeballing is when mistakes are bound to happen and mistakes like mixing up an original for a spicy is just unforgivable! All in all, their staff are great and always smiling when we're there. One can't really go wrong with Church's when one has a case of the munchies. 24h is a beautiful thing. Parking is available in the lot in front of the restaurant (strip mall). The restaurant isn't as big as it looks. Sure the front area is wide, but the place is actually quite shallow. There is seating for maybe 15 people inside. Seats are clean but dated - the place looks like something from the 1980s. Staff were friendly. The menu seems to have shrunk. Herb and Korean flavours are no more, which is a real shame. They have these new Munchers, which are battered balls of potatoes, green onions, and maybe a bit of cheese. Don't let the giant picture on the poster fool you - they're smaller than a golf ball. Rather disappointing. Also they're hot on the outside but room temperature on the inside. Stick to the chicken. read more

I'm impressed with Church's Chicken because they're so consistent with their fried chicken. After all these years in Vancouver, their fried chicken product has been exactly the same when it comes to the taste and the looks. Their takeout boxes are still the same too. Nothing much has changed, except for the logo. Their chicken has tender white meat. It's good old fashioned greasy fried chicken and they kept their original recipe. You know what you're getting and it isn't health food, so you shouldn't eat it everyday. I just don't see the Church's Chicken mascot out in the public anymore. Last time I spotted the mascot at this location, the chicken was handing out styrofoam toy planes. read more

Back in early September, I went into this Church's Chicken location, late night, wanting to order 10 pieces of chicken and a side of small fries. I told the front counter cashier exactly that, and from there, I had been asked from him if I wanted the chicken spread to be mixed, and I thought it was a good suggestion. I gave him $50 in cash, and he gives me $25 odd change back. No receipt given. 10 mins later, he hands me a small bag of fries, and while confounded with my order, I told him that I had ordered 10 pieces of chicken along with this. And then, what seems to be correcting my mistake, yanks out the receipt that he pulled from the receipt pin, and showed that he's transacted only the small fries for $3. Impossible, I thought, since he asked if I wanted mixed chicken of spicy and regular, and that I gave him a 50 bill, and that he had then gave me only 25 bucks, back. Just when I was about to make as much more bigger stink about it, he hurried over to give me my 10 pieces of chicken in which I was owed, stormed out, took pictures of him, looking smug, as I left. Called the manager the next afternoon, described the situation above, told her that I wasn't looking for anything to get for free, but that I had thought to feel the need to advise that a thief works amongst them. As I described him, she mentions that his name is Paulo, though she didn't seem to take my accounts seriously, anyways. I told her that he gave me my chicken, anyways, since I was upset, but he probably pocketed my cash, meaning that he's stealing from the franchaise, in essence. She told me to just go ahead and make a complaint online at the company's website, also pleading not to post picture online. The universal website doesn't seem to have a feedback forum. Loved Church's chicken, growing up. But avoid the main st location, at all cost. And here I am today; you've asked me not to post this complaint, along with Paulo's picture. here's another one of my weird stories. Diony: "wake up. we're going to Canada." Joolie: "what? i just got back from Canada like 48 hours ago!!" Diony: "and...? i'm getting my tattoo done. let's go." Joolie: "isn't the artist only going to be there for a DAY?!?!" (note: most tattoos... especially the particular one he wanted takes MULTIPLE sessions to complete. due to pain and also the amount of work... it is INSANE to get this done in 24 hours for both parties.) six hours later... everyone was already exhausted from the night before- needed fuel. Diony was on the chair for 4.5 hours. we loaded up in the van with the rest of the zombies and set out to find some food. we went everywhere from the local grocery store, Tim Horton's and McDonald's... we presented the food to Diony and he practically vomited at the first bite of anything we handed him. he was in severe pain and extremely weak... i didn't know what else to do. we went back to the van and drove around Burnaby until we spotted Church's Chicken. i recalled having this a few years back with my parents, so i suggested we stop by to give it a whirl. we ordered the biscuits, wings and a whole bucket of breast/legs. affordability is what i love about this place. well, you guessed it. Diony basically passed out from the strenuous buzzing, blood loss and pain. i waved a piece of chicken in his face and the man shot straight up. he was revived! he practically ate the whole bucket. i was able to snag a couple pieces and BOY!!!!!!!!!!!! were they delicious. it's quite addicting. Judging by appearance, I assumed that Church's Chicken was a poor man's version of Kentucky Fried Chicken. The cash register told me that this just wasn't so. I should have turned away when I saw the fry cook pour a bag of frozen crinkle cut fries into the deep fryer, but I was starving, and couldn't be bothered to walk any further. As I sat peeling off the greasy skin of the chicken carcass, I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror that paneled the wall. I felt dirty and ashamed, but goddammit, I paid for this unappetizing chicken. The fries were crisp enough at the edges, but occasionally soft and undercooked in the middle, just like Mom used to bake them. Ketchup was my salvation in drowning out the bland taste, but I soon realized the pump was on empty. And if it's been a while, then it's time to hear the call and return to the coop. At 11:00 p.m. last night, my friend and I wanted to try out the new "Korean Fried Chicken" advertised on the posters. Having quickly learned to love this style of KFC (unfortunate acronym) in Los Angeles, as well as at Robson Street spots such as Zabu Chicken, I was looking forward to tasting Church's rendition. The Korean style dictates a double-fry plus glistening sauce deftly applied with a paintbrush on each piece of chicken. Unfortunately, here it was just the regular chicken dunked in a vat of sweet-and-sour-and-spicy sauce. On the plus side, the regular chicken is fabulous and the sauce goes well with it. So, while I feel it's a stretch to call it KFC (I feel terrible for even putting these letters together in this review; forgive me, Church's!), it's still some mighty fine chicken! And prices are reasonable at $3 for 2 drumsticks, $7 for 5... Oh, and let's not forget other items such as the commendable poutine (the gravy has a slight sweetness to it) and McCain's apple pie. When I called them, the words that came out of their mouth after I explained the situation was "We got a power outage and it just came back on." So you're telling me that it magically came back on before I called? When I made the order 2 hours ago on Skipthedishes, they confirmed my order and that it was ready for pickup to be delivered? After she said power outage. I checked for any recent outages nearby or in that area. None. No results popped up. I asked for a little compensation like maybe a discount or anything. Long ago, on the eve of my vegetarianism, I found myself clinging to Church's Chicken. Gross, I know, but I really had a hard time letting go of Church's crispy little thighs and spicy bite-sized wings. Every morsel was just so succulent and juicy. And the subsequent week, when I faltered, I quickly snuck off to this Church's to pick up their cheap chicken and leg combo. I'm shaking my head now at the memory. I'm kind of embarrassed to be writing this review about a fast food joint, but quite honestly, I was actually impressed by the chicken at Church's, which is surprisingly juicy and moist! I guess it is greasy, but it didn't seem disgustingly greasy to me. The breading is also nice and light and crispy. I got two pieces of the original chicken, and my only complaint would be that the flavour of the chicken lacked complexity - it was mostly just salty (but not too salty). The fries though are just like McCain's frozen crinkle fries - I would pass on these next time and just get chicken. read more

For fried chicken, Church's is up to par with the other big boys. Crunchy, juicy and big on flavour with just enough spice for the spicy version. Service was acceptable but not particularly friendly. I also found their prices rather expensive but maybe that's because I am comparing it to U.S. prices which is not quite fair to begin with. I'm a food blogger through Chinese media and I rarely blog about the bad experiences, but this is out of hand. I have never experienced worse customer service through all the places I've blogged about. First of all, I am a huge Church's Chicken fan, and I do believe Church's have the best tasting Chicken in Canada. I normally go to Church's at other locations but due to business, I started coming to the one on Main Street. The first time I came, I asked for 5 piece drum sticks with a substitute side of Munchers. Now for those who eat Church's often and or work at Church's, you know we could switch fries for 5 piece Munchers. The employee of this store didn't know what to do so she went to ask the manager. This is totally understandable, however the manager started shouting at me and saying something like this is Main street, we are not like other stores! Uh... Okay, no need to shout, I can hear perfectly well? Well I let it go that time, because it could be a possible misunderstanding. This time I came back to Church's on Main Street, the same manager was there with a new staff. I greeted the staff by smiling and saying hi, the only response I got was a rude tone of saying "What you want to order". This time I asked what was the difference between the 5 drum sticks and combo number 8. The new staff didn't know and asked the manager, the manager said it's the same thing except number 8 has fries and drinks. I then ordered it expecting it to be the same thing as I ordered last time. After I ordered, the staff started to mop the floor, I was confused on why they are not finishing my order, but waited patiently. 5 mins later, the staff put down the mob and started finishing my order without even washing her hands. On the brighter side, I see that they was just warming my drum sticks, but after they gave the order to me, it turns out to be 5 very tiny wings. I politely reminded her that she told me number 8 was the 5 drum sticks I asked for and she started argueing with me, then she rudely threw back the tiny wings on the shelf and brought me 2 piece of the drum sticks I ordered and told me that was the same price as the 5 tiny wings... I ordered 5 drum sticks... The entire process of this happening was very rude... I used to work in fast foods as well and I understand sometimes work could be tiring, but as all fast food workers know, customer satisfaction and politeness should come first... I hope Church's Chicken Corp could spend a little money on retraining their staffs. read more
