I was curious of this place wondering if they're good as Church's or on the par with KFC. So I went here back in March to get some $5 lunch deal. This type of deal is quite rare since I can only find cheap meals or food from Costco. I picked 2 drumsticks and fries for my lunch. I walked in around 2PM it was very quiet. I was hoping to see fresh food being cooked. By the time it finished I couldn't wait to try Hi Five chicken. Food was okay. Fries weren't fresh same with chicken. Chicken didn't have crispy texture but the meat was soft. Other than that I found the food to be greasy. Can't expect much out of $5 deal, but it could've been better. My sleep has been haywire, and so it was 2am and I was hungry. I remembered Hi Five chicken is open 24 hours. Off I went to get myself some fried chicken. Also because a friend said this was better than Win Win which I like so much. I remembered being not very impressed with Hi Five a few years back, so decided to try it again. Maybe I missed something. Another person also recommended the chicken sandwich. I ordered the spicy chicken sandwich and a regular fried chicken leg to try. Not a cheap meal as it came to $11+ or so. The fried chicken leg was not great. The skin was crispy like church's but the meat was dry, as if it was roasted meat. Now I know why I prefer Win Win fried chicken. I prefer less batter on the skin. The chicken sandwich was average. A bit better than Wendy but still could not beat Popeye. The chicken was not very crispy but the meat was juicy. The spice was the sauce on the bun. I doubt I will be back here anytime soon. Between this and Church's for a late night snack, I rather head to Church's. read more

Recently, Hi Five Chicken opened up a new location on Kingsway in Burnaby. I had a bit of trouble finding this place because I wasn't expecting it to be in a part of the former Earl's location and walked right past it a couple of times before realizing it was there. I would up ordering online (which was pretty easy and came with 10% off). On my first visit here, I picked up the Home Style Spicy Chicken Sandwich ($8.45 + $1.15 for added bacon) and paired it with Mac and Cheese Bites $5.95). Both of these items really fell sub-par in my opinion... especially when you see pictures of what their menu says it looks like. The mac and cheese definitely isn't worth it and has very little mac and cheese on the inside. As for the spicy chicken sandwich, the menu says it comes with a spicy mayo sauce but it actually just came with a little packet of hot sauce... definitely not a creamy spicy mayo sauce that's for sure. I did come back and order from their regular chicken menu and found that it's better. The 10pc Family Meal comes with 5 legs and 5 wings, 3 large sides, and a two-litre soft drink... overall, a good value and their fried chicken is pretty good. My only complaint is that the chicken here seemed excessively oily (I know, I know... it's fried chicken). I've been to a few of their other locations and they're usually pretty good. I live in this area and have noticed this place for a while now. There was a opening soon sign up it seems forever. Well it finally opened, I'm guessing a few weeks now. The first time I came by it was in the early evening and it was quite busy so I left. The next time I came it was a weekday in the middle of the day. There was one guy ordering and another eating in. I had got some coupons in the mail a while ago so I used one. It was a buy one get one free sandwich. So I ordered one smokehouse bbq and a homestyle spicy and a small fries. It came out to $11.45 I think with the coupon. Pretty good deal. The fries were pretty good and the sandwiches were ok. The next time I came here I ordered the same except with a large fries. this time the fries were really soggy and not seasoned at all, the smokehouse burger was bland and didn't even have any barbecue sauce on it. I guess their prices would be similar to Churches. The service was friendly the first time but not great the second time. They are in part of the old Earls location..... read more

Got take out with hubby for dinner. We ordered spicy chicken, onion rings, potato wedges, deep fried pickles and biscuits. Everything was really good! Not usually a potato wedge fan but these were nice and crispy on the outside but super soft on the inside... love them. The onion rings and chicken were great! Very crispy and not overly salty like some places. The pickles were ok.... Kind of mushy on the inside but the flavor was good. They even threw in some of their house extra spicy sauce. I thought it was a good level of spice but hubs couldn't eat it. We had a apple pie for dessert. The hubby liked it a lot. Reminded him of the old mcds apple pies (when they were deep fried and yummier) before they started baking them. Staff were super friendly, would definitely go back again! read more

Went to this location couple times and ordered through the app to avoid waiting. Both times, they did not even start the order as they didn't know an order came in. When I got there had to wait 10-15minutes. During one visit I notice hygiene is poor. Definitely the best "fast food" fried chicken that I've had. I had the BBQ chicken sandwich.. the flavour is really good , and the chicken pieces are nice and big. I found that the service was very friendly and fairy quick. They have a great outdoor seating too! read more
