Fries (top) and cheese shake fries (bottom)

In my opinion, you can't go wrong with Chicko Chicken. My favourite flavours are yangyeom and snow cheese. This time around I got boneless yangyeom and soy garlic with my partner. We also got regular and snow cheese fries. The yangyeom at Chicko Chicken is my favourite flavour of any Korean chicken, and they're the only ones who do it right. I haven't liked it anywhere else. Soy garlic is delicious as well and very flavourful. The chicken came out fresh, piping hot, tender for my soft mouth, and juicy. It's always also perfectly crisp, even hours after frying when you have leftovers. The fries were just as fresh. The cheese for the shake shake fries come in a separate container so you can shake it yourself. I love the sweet cheese powder over the fries--it's so addicting. They also gave us ketchup for the regular fries. One con of Chicko is you have to buy the pickled daikon. Most places give it complementary with a chicken order. Service is to-order so it takes a while, but worth the wait! There's only two tables inside and it is essentially self-serve.

I ordered Chicko Combo for a take out few days ago. Everyone knows how inflation is disastrous these days. Food was so disappointing. I was deceived by the great presentation until there were 2 pieces of skin in my box. The rest were mostly fries with less meat. I felt ridiculed that staff included chicken skin in my food. I can't express anymore words aside from this. Good thing I've got free radish from the loyalty point at least.

Chicko Chicken is expanding very quickly across metro vancouver and it is a good thing. Now there is one nearer me, rather than having to go to Edmonds area. Maybe there is some teething problem, being newly opened. I placed my order and was told it would take about 20 minutes as everything is made to order. No problem. I went to other shops in the plaza. I had the half order of the yang yeom fried chicken. It was supposed to come with pickled radish but it was not available. I was told to choose any sauce. I had the cheese. That was pretty tasty. The cheese powder was slightly sweet. I dipped fries in it and it was so good. The chicken itself was so-so. It was not very crispy which was disappointing. The meat was tender though. The sauce like any other Korean fried chicken places. Pro-tip: order online or in advance as it would take 20 minutes to be ready.

I've ordered from chicko several times, easily one of the best quality Korean fried chicken places near me. Boneless option is great - each piece is huge, batter is crispy and does not get soggy, cheese snow flavour has a perfect 'bliss level' aka, perfect balance of salty and sweet cheesy flavour. Never had a problem until last night when we ordered through Uber eats. Every time we ordered in the past there would be at least 1 order of pickled daikon included, we thought it was complimentary. Maybe this has changed, but we were slightly disappointed to find that it was not included in our order this time. Anyway, the chicken is still ridiculously good, would recommend to make / buy your favourite side dishes and enjoy with Soju and beer :)

I kinda ate some....I was hungry. Half and half, yangyeum and soy garlic.

So! They just opened a Chicko Chicken (uh oh!) just around the corner from my place. It is in the Old Orchard Mall. I passed by it the other day going to Shoppers. I think it's been open for about a month now. The shop is quite small and I think there is 2 tables inside. There is lots of parking in the mall. I've become a fan of their other location on Edmonds. I ordered my usual, half and half boneless (yangyeum & soy garlic). I ordered online and they have a points system. Dunno how it works, probably the same as most places, the more you buy the more points you get. So apparently I got enough points for some free fries....cool! The fries were pretty good, nice and crispy, maybe a touch more salt would've been perfect. The chicken was ok, to be honest it was a bit dry and didn't really have enough sauce to coat it. Maybe cuz they are still new are experiencing some growing pains. The Edmonds location is definitely better. But like I said maybe they just have to get out the kinks. The guy who worked here was pretty nice. Will have to try again to see how they are doing in a couple of months. We will see............

Korea Noodle House is very popular and always has a long line up! My spouse and I were able to get…read morea table without lining up by having an early dinner at 5pm. The tables are very small but clean and neat. The chairs are specially designed to have a storage space. We tried their Galbi Combo for two ($74), which came with 6 pieces of Galbi (beef short rib) and 2 bowls of noodles of our choice. We picked Double Decker (pork bone broth noodles) with less spicy and Chicky Chicky Ginseng (Ginseng chicken noodles). The short rib and the pork bone were very tender. The meat fell off the bone easily. The ginseng chicken is soothingly delicious. The portion is pretty good for the price. The complimentary kimchi and pickled radish tasted different from what we usually have in other restaurants. The kimchi is very crunchy and the pickled radish has yuzu flavor. Service is great. The food came pretty quickly and the servers were friendly. Now I understand why there is always a line outside!

I tried the beef ribs and pork noodle, and both were adequate --, satisfactory , and leaning toward the spicier side, which added a nice kick without being overwhelming. The menu isn't very extensive, but that seems intentional, keeping the focus on doing a smaller selection well. Service was friendly and efficient, and the wait time wasn't long, which made the visit smooth overall. The seating is a bit tight, so it may feel slightly crowded during busy hours. One thing to note is that they don't offer sharing bowls or plates, which, combined with market pricing, makes it less ideal for sharing dishes among a group. That said, there were a few downsides that took away from the experience. My dining companion felt there was a heavy amount of MSG in the food and didn't feel well afterward. I personally didn't have the noodle soup, so I didn't experience the same level of discomfort, but it's something worth noting. Seating is hard and uncomfortable, and aside being crammed together elbow to elbow with neighbouring tables. Definitely breathes a sign of ultra minimalist working class vibes. Overall, while the food and service were good, these issues added some doubt and took away from what could have been a more positive experience.
