Medium gravy, not the best. Very liquidy
Clara Y.

After hearing so many things about high 5 chicken, I finally got some to try. For some reason, everytime I buy fried chicken, I must always get gravy. I bought the 10 pc thigh and leg for 23/24$ and I got fried and half spicy half regular. I also got a medium gravy When I got home, it was hard to tell which ones were spicy and which ones weren't. They were quite dark and hard to tell the difference. They were also huge and looked as if it was pre-made or refried from last night. But it wasn't because it was fresh, juicy and crunchy!! I love church's and la chicken but this is good too. To me, the inside is juicy like church's and the outside is crunchy like LA's chickens spicy fried chicken but crunchier (like how KFC crunchy use to be). I believe its double fried for it to be this crunchy. The spice level is good, its not as spicy as the ones at church's, but it is a bit spicier than LA chicken (for those sensitive to spice like my mom). One thing that I really noticed is that its salty. Its not a bad thing bc I like it salty, but that's one thing that stood out to me, but it does make the chicken taste great. Last, I ordered the medium gravy because its just a must and not I don't dip my chicken in it lol. My Dad and I aren't a fan of the gravy, it was very liquidy and didn't have any taste. Its nothing like KFC, churches, a&w etc, its liquidy and the next day it had white stuff in it and I wasn't sure whether or not it was flour or cornstarch or mold. Overall, I will definitely come back!

Legit fried chicken place that has replaced the Vietnamese restaurant. This place gives Church's and LA a run for their money. I'm guessing they're trying to compete with Church's more as they are also 24h. Parking is awful in the tiny strip mall lot. Try the side streets instead. The inside is quite bare bones. Looks like a cafeteria. Staff were friendly. Quite a few people working there. The chicken is wee bit pricey at $2-3 a piece, but that's in line with the competition. I got a kick out of their drink cups. They use the vintage Pepsi logo. Haven't seen one of those in decades. Lastly, the chicken is nice and juicy. The potato wedges are pretty tasty too. I know where I'll be if I'm in the area late at night and have a chicken fix.

I love food. And I love carbs. I have those days when I crave good burgers and fries and pops but I still choose places where I would get fresh ingredients and feel good after eating. We went there after our sauna session and we were STARVING. We had a huge variety of chicken to try. Hi Five Chicken gives you options for regular/spicy and for fried or baked chicken. Both baked and fried chicken were juicy and delicious. Their fried chicken was the winner though. It was crispy to the last bite. Honestly if you have fried food cravings it's definitely a place to do it. Spicy options are really nice as well. The chicken pieces are really good size, really moist, not dry and there is plenty of meat so it's a really good deal for a really good quality. I had a Veggie burger ( yeah I am that person, I get a veggie burger at the chicken place...) the patty was juicy and tender, and my rosemary-garlic seasoned wedge fries were so delicious, better than regular fries they had a nice crisp to the exterior. I loved it! I loved my meal! :) I got a hot apple pie after too! Yummy! I was satisfied with our visit. Definitely recommend - quality food, fast service. Good size parking lot is always a plus too!

3.5 Stars rounded up. They need to get the kinks worked out since they're quite new. When I got here they were kinda behind in fulfilling orders. There was no line up but there were a lot of peeps waiting for their chicken. Chicken wise, its kind of a cross between Church's and LA chicken, but being closer to the LA Chicken version. If you've ever had Popeyes Louisiana Chicken, this is pretty close as a comparison. Observation: the drumsticks were very large, but the thighs were smaller than average. Could have been just that day. Will have to try it again. Very crispy outside, not overly oily. Comes in spicy and regular. I got regular. My senior citizens quite enjoyed it. Located in a strip mall with XXX movies to rent. You can eat in and then head to Big Rich's XXX for a quick view and a tug, assuming you don't wash your hands beforehand (pun intended), thereby leaving the natural lube on. I got my chicken to go, and brought it to the senior citizen's house. $30, 15 pcs all dark.

I feel like I'm a fried chicken connoisseur... whenever I hear of a fried chicken place I make it a point to go try it out. I've driven by and been around HiFive 24 for a while. Finally got a chance to try it out today for lunch. I ordered the 3 piece meal. Comes with 3 pieces of fried chicken, fries (I got onion rings instead) and a fountain drink. Worked out to be a little over $12. Guess it's reasonable. The Onion rings were ok. I bit dry and nothing to write home about. The fried chicken was common tasting. To me it tasted a lot like Church's Fried Chicken only not as oily. In the end HiFive 24 is ok. Unfortunately there's nothing special here. I'd rather go to Church's if it came down to a decision!

Tonight I'm Beyond horrified! I found a staple in my spicy chicken burger, I took a chomp and all I felt was pain so I spat it out and pick it out of my bite..... the "Supervisor" was laughing to a coworker about it in the back, I don't even know how a staple got in there! Means it's unsanitary... in the kitchen.... my mouth was bleeding, they did not see to care.... offered me a free burger yeah right! I ordered from them always they are like 5 mins from my house and I enjoyed there chicken before hand but that's nasty & the professionalisms was awful laughing at me while my mouth is bleeding not funny... I never thought I'd ever have an experience like this

I don't eat fried chicken that frequently so I can't compare it to other places but it was pretty good to me! I got 1 piece spicy and 1 piece regular. The skin was crispy and the chicken was moist and juicy! I would definitely come back. The interior of the store was clean.

This is my new favourite fried chicken place! I had their $5 for 2 pieces of chicken and wedges combo. The chicken was very crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Definitely try "Spicy" if you like some spice! Unlike other places, it's actually spicy, but not too spicy! I'd definitely go across the bridge from Richmond just to get fried chicken again!!

I'm a weekly Church's Chicken feaster and a couple of my friends asked if I had tried HiFive24 yet. I haven't but have driven by numerous times on the way to Superstore. Last night I was driving by and decided to take the plunge. Felt a little bit of guilt betraying my normal chicken go to spot. Parking is ridiculous here. Extremely narrow. Do yourself a favour and park on Main Street and walk a wee bit. Decided to order the 12 piece drumsticks. Half regular and half spicy. Assessment: Crispy skin, not dry inside, not greasy as well, fair size, has nice flavour. I've tried LA Chicken and i would say it is comparable to them. The 2 cashiers in front were very friendly and personable. Got my order to go, she asked what condiments I wanted and smiled and said "enjoy". I don't see myself visiting this place again, not that I didn't enjoy the chicken, but I'm just loyal to my Church's.

Spicy chicken,  wedge cut fries and deep fried mac and cheese.
Holly L.

Decided to try this place after a glowing review from my favourite yelper. I ordered a meal combo, but due to the heavy accent of my server, there was some miscommunication. No problem, he ended up giving me free fries when I brought this discrepancy to his attention. Spicy chicken was crunchy and wedge fries were a nice change from the usual straight cut type. I also enjoyed the deep fried Mac and cheese. Loved the bottomless pop for those who dined in. If I'm in the area and craving fried chicken, this would be a good alternative to church's, my usual go to. Prices are about the same.

If you're looking for comfort food, you don't have to go much further than fried chicken. In the whole debate over who has the best fast food fried chicken in town... for my money, it's always been Church's over KFC. Of course, LA Chicken beats all of them but I put LA Chicken in a whole other class by themselves. So, when I saw that there's a new fast food place that sells not only fried chicken but baked chicken... I was intrigued. Plus, they're open 24 hours to boot! We stopped by one night with a hankering for chicken and got their 4 piece meal ($12.49 with wedge fries and a drink) along with a medium potato salad ($3.49) and a medium gravy ($2.59). Wanting to try their different choices, we got a mix of baked and fried chicken and a mix of their regular and spicy. The meal comes with legs and thighs and they gave us an extra drumstick since one of the pieces was on the small side. Both their baked and fried chicken had nice, moist flesh but I preferred their fried chicken the best. The spicy variety had a good heat to it and the fried chicken skin had a very crispy crunch to the bite. The seasoned wedge fries turned out quite good as well with a slight crisp to the exterior. While still not a match for LA Chicken, Hi Five 24 is a tasty alternative to Church's Chicken.

Would be nice to have a place where they let you use the bath room or wash your hands. Workers didn't care.

As usual, I'm late to the party. I've heard about Phnom Penh…read moreand its famous chicken wings ever since I moved to Vancouver, nine-ish years ago. My fellow Yelpers raved about this place when I first moved here, and my kid came here with her school pals 5-6 years ago and also raved about the wings. It's been on my list to come here forever - and last night, finally, I did. It did not disappoint. My kid warned me, there'll probably be a line up waiting to get in (they don't take reservations here. I checked), so we decided to go at an off-time and get an early dinner, around 5pm on Friday. We walked there and, miracle of miracle, there was no line and we got seated right away. (Granted, we got the last vacant table in the place, and when we left after our meal, there already was a line of people waiting to get in). Food-wise...wow. I am NOT one for adventurous eating, so there were dishes on the menu I couldn't comfortably order (I wish I could, but hey, I'm better now than I used to be!). Still, there was lots for me to choose from. And first and foremost, I HAD to try the famous chicken wings. And I can honestly say, they were the best I've ever had: SO SO crunchy and crispy on the outside, and hot and moist on the inside. OMG so so so good. I can't speak highly enough of these! My kid ordered the butter beef. It was tasty and soft ("like butta!"), and the marinade was lovely, but personally, I couldn't get over the...rawness and redness of the meat and juice (which looked like blood to me). For fellow non-adventurous eaters out there, this might not be for you, despite how flavorful it tasted. It was just hard for me to get over how it looked. (I know I'm in a minority here. This dish is one of their most popular and asked-for dishes). We had the garlic dry spare ribs. I love spareribs. These were delicious but a tad too salty and greasy. I brought most of them home and had them today for lunch. I gotta say, they were so much better for me today: less salty, and I blotted off the excess grease. Delicious! My kid ordered a "small" sweet and sour soup with prawns, and wow, it came in a huge black cauldren. I can't imagine ordering a large size. Anyhow, this soup was a stand-out soup - especially for my kid who said she had dreams about it all night (lol)! So complex in flavors - spicy, sweet, savory, chock full of prawns and sprouts and lotus shoots and pineapple chunks and and other delicious stuff.... For me, it was a wee tad too spicy, but wow, even I thought, this is a special soup. So delicious and warming. 10/10. Our servers were prompt and impressively able to efficiently tend to a full house of diners. They got it all down to a science here. One issue of note: my kid had to use the washroom at one point and she left for a very extended period of time. I actually thought at one point that something had happened to her or she was ill, she was gone so long (VERY unlike her). When she returned, she told me it was "quite a hike", around the back of the restaurant and up a flight of stairs, too. I only make note of this in case anyone has mobility issues, know that the bathroom will be difficult (or impossible) for you to access.

Butter Beef (Thinly sliced rare beef) Garlic Wings (heavy on the garlic - FYI) Filet Beef Luc Lac (Tender stir-fried beef) I had a Vietnamese coffee, but it was lame. I've had better elsewhere. The taste of these dishes is orgasmic. I didn't notice nor feel a high sodium content but perhaps maybe a hint of MSG. I only learnt of this place when googling for roast meat and this popped up. The store is divided into two sections. One for the cooked roast meat where the menu is at the back of wall. Written in both Chinese and English, they are quite hard to read though. Bring your glasses or better yet, take a picture and zoom in on the photo like what I did. The other part is where you can buy fresh uncooked meat. The other side is lined with refrigerated items. Besides buying the roast meat, you can also have it with rice with your choice of meat. I bought a pound (min order) of roast pork and half a Hong Kong style roast duck (pipa duck I believe). I will say communication can be quite tough as the staff seemed more comfortable speaking in Cantonese which I do not speak. So it has to be a basic ordering in English without any questions or requests. The roast pork has super crispy skin which is really good but it also has such a thick layer of fats underneath that I had to remove it. You could probably save those fatty bits and fry them later to make lardon and add to your home cooked noodles or something. I like the pipa duck. Tender and tasty meat. Tip/Life hack: I googled and found a way to reheat the leftovers so they do not dry out -- cover the meat with foil and heat in oven at 400c for 20-30 mins. For the roast pork, I only covered the meat part and let the skin peeked out so the skin got even crispier.
