Most of the guests dining in had a glass of root beer. We just had hot water, but appreciated that it also came in a nice glass. My family and I visited A&W a couple of weeks ago while in Vancouver on vacation. We had never eaten there before, so we were excited. The location was clean with simple decor, had decent parking, and good service. I ordered the teen cheeseburger combo, my husband got the chubby chicken sandwich, and we got the hot dog kids meal for our son. My burger was juicy, had fresh vegetables, and was delicious. The fries were crisp, hot, and yummy. We were hoping to have a root beer float, but unfortunately this location had the root beer, but not the specialty drinks. My husband's chicken sandwich was juicy and flavorful, it was no Chick-fil-a sandwich, but it was good. The root beer was fresh and hit the spot in the cold mugs. I love the fries & teen burgers which I ordered last night to go. When I got home, I was missing my mobile phone. Retraced my steps, phoned around, finally phoned A&W & found I had left my phone there. I was asked many questions(found out it was Milani)to make sure I am the owner. I'm not really a fast food guy these days but I do have a thing for their chubby chicken. I remember they were really good back in the day when I used to eat a lot of fast food. I still don't come here that often but whenever I get some coupons in the mail I'll pop by for some chubby chicken burgers. The burgers are really good! Super fresh lettuce, nice soft bun and crispy, tasty chicken. That's all I've had here so far but from what I remember their other burgers were pretty good as well. The place is small, only a few tables and clean, the service was ok. The employees were all still wearing masks despite the mandate being over yesterday so that was kinda good to see I guess. Decent size parking lot but it is kinda cramped the way it is set up and I'm guessing it could get busy at certain times. Can't wait to come back for more chubby chicken! read more

Great place for burger or breakfast fix! My food always came out fresh and Hashbrown came out crispy. I love going to this location a lot and they never gave me soggy/ lukewarm food. Sausage and Egger and Burgers here are so tasty, I can't pick a favourite one out of the menu. Seniors and older Chinese people like coming here for food, and seats are always HARD to find here. I've always been a big fan of A&W, so it's nice to know there's one in this part of the city. Parking is plentiful in the nice large strip mall parking lot. This location is relatively new (as with the rest of this strip mall complex), so everything is relatively nice and shiny still. The interior is surprisingly small - it actually felt a bit cramped. Staff were quick and friendly. The burger combo is consistent with their other locations. As usual, special mention goes to their onion rings. Too bad they charge extra if you swap fries for onion rings. Burger King doesn't. And of course, what A&W meal is complete without a nice frosted mug of their trademark root beer. Just try not to think about the number of calories in a glass of this stuff. If you're ever curious, try drinking it (or any beverage) at room temperature, when your tongue is more sensitive. You'll get cavities thinking about it. read more

10 o'clock and this place is packed with seniors and construction men! Couldn't get a seat. But, luckily the food was prepared in under 3 minutes and packed to go. This location is perfect because you can go to Kins Market, the liquor store and grocery store afterwards. Staff are reasonably friendly and restaurant is clean and well lit. This is one of my favourite A&W places to dine in and order from. Often, they include a root beer lollipop with my take out which is much appreciated because I love them. The food is always fresh and they follow COVID protocols well for such a decently busy location. Unfortunately a star is docked because I noticed that their fries are occasionally under salted or not salted at all. They're fresh off the frier though! read more

When I think of A & W, their frosty mugs of root beer come to mind. I recently saw someone eating their poutine at a mall which looked pretty good, so I decided to check out their version. If you're eating in, it's served on a nice plate and I appreciated the metal fork, which they forgot to give me but I asked later. The poutine gravy isn't overly salty and their fries hold up much better than say, McD's. Half of the curds were nice and melted, and overall not a bad poutine. Not much to say about the chicken fingers as they were kind of thin, but they did the job of providing more protein. I also like that you can order a sugar free root beer. This A & W has fairly steady customers, and I'm glad that they wiped my dirty table before I sat down to eat. It's a nice location not situated in a mall with easy parking in front and has a nice local/family vibe. And yes, I was tempted to order their onion rings, but a person can only eat so much. read more

I remember the location being quite busy, with not too many tables and staff that seemed more interested to do anything else than to be there. Sadly A&W doesn't stand for awesome. If I'm going to be naughty and eat fast food, I go to A&W. I figure if I was going to be bad, I might as well do it right, right? A&W does it right for me every time... The A&W in Champlain mall in particular is one of my preferred locations... Now, don't get me wrong... I don't eat from burger chains often (about once every half year-ish) and usually chains like this doesn't really need a review because they're all the same; however, I want to review this place because of the exceptional staff and service. Like I said, I don't go to burger chains often, but I have gone to various chains - a drive-thru with my boyfriend and or to grab a quick lunch for a colleague. I can always expect to be greeted rudely by someone on the other side of the counter. But I get it, they don't want to be there and I'm not blaming them for that... Because of the negative and pushy atmosphere in most chains, it is a very pleasant change when you walk into this A&W. The people there are friendly, patient and really tries to go the extra mile. Like I said, they're not expected to be friendly and to even fake a smile, but they do and it is a very nice change and I want them to know that I really appreciate it. OMG I love this place! Why? Cause I asked for a soda water instead of pop for my Mama burger combo and I got it in a frosty cold glass!! That's why. The service was good. I liked the new staff here. It was busy and there was good rotation of customers. The flow was good. The onion rings were crispy and my mug of soda water hit the non sugary spot right on the marker. Rather pathetic. Lack of food items like onion rings around 8 pm. Worst of all, staff don't seem to be very "food safe" and practice unacceptable food handling. The lady at the till who handles money also put her fingers inside our cups when she was handling it. The woman is not young either so she definitely should know better. Not recommended. read more

Rating this purely on a fast food level, I can't really fault this location. Never overly busy, and it actually feels like a 60s mom and pop diner. Go early or around lunchtime and you're sure to find many elderly moms and pops! They are regulars and live around the Champlain area, where there's lots of complexes and senior housing. The decor is almost like Back to the Future style, you step inside and feel like you went back in time. Service is fantastic, they hire some really nice people there, they are quick and efficient in taking your order. I think the quality of A&W burgers is really good, and maybe it's the fact that they make your order fresh or something, but they really do taste fantastic. They taste like beef, not like the frozen stuff you can heat up and serve at home, you know the kind where the patty feels stiff and all? Triple O's are like that. McD's are flat and dry. Wendy's is a bit better, but this little A&W joint has got it right. And as of this post they are running a promotion burger with mushrooms and grilled onions, the burger patty is much thicker than conventional ones and completely destroys McD's premium line... but who eats those anyways, right? Anyways this mushroom burger is second only to their now extinct prime rib burger, it was another promo that lasted only a few months before it went away. It was the most memorable burger I have ever tasted from a fast food joint, enhanced by the fact that I'd always get it fresh from this location. It even came with its own horseradish sauce specially made for that burger (it was just regular horseradish sauce..but it felt special squirting it from a packet) that is now also extinct. They usually rotate a promotion every few weeks, usually a deal on one of their regular menu items, or a limited promo burger. The place is really clean, I think its probably family owned or something so they keep it very respectable, including the washrooms. Seating is adequate and ambiance is usually quiet, with the windows looking out to the rest of the strip mall like the Starbucks just next to it and the supermarket right across it. read more

This location is the worst at customer service. unfortunately it is the closest to my home but every time i try stop off here i'm reminded of why i drive elsewhere. this morning for example i stopped off after the gym to grab breakfast. waited in line for 7 minutes because it's more important to social with friends than serve customers. i finally get to the front and it's 11:02 and they don't serve breakfast anymore. it ends at 11 and they don't have bacon. which is odd because they serve bacon with hamburgers. read more
