Came here for the free root beer. Well service was standard. only issue was the root beer was not cold enough but that was probably because they were pouring root beer like crazy. Check your bill because they overcharge. My regular order is a beyond burger combo so I know exactly how much it costs. I had a coupon for a free upgrade to sweet potato fries which I showed cashier. She told me amount and I asked are you SURE that is correct, because it was more than my usual order amount and it was supposed to be a FREE upgrade. She insisted it was. It was late and there were cars waiting behind me in the drive through so I left. When I got home and checked, sure enough, I was overcharged. I called and spoke to Mohammed. Had to write a quick update about this A&W location because I haven't been in awhile and was super impressed with the service was again! I went through the drive through around 11pm and there was about 6 cars in the line in total. They only had one employee but I was super impressed with his work flow and manners. I mean if I was working alone on a late shift I would not only be pretty frazzled but also pretty pissed that I'm working a night shift alone. The burger was cooked perfectly - one of the best I've had in a while (though it may have been because it was the first thing I ate in the past 6 hours). And the employee was super polite - nothing to overt, but it just showed in the manner of way he spoke. I was not in a good mood myself, but his service definitely made me feel a little better! Its honestly the little things that can really make a big impact! I will definitely be returning to this location- especially if I'm ever out near midnight again! read more

The best fast food experience I've ever had. Every time I come to this location in particular, it feels as though I'm dining in a 5 star restaurant. The individuals working there care about their jobs and truly give the best service. I ordered the chubby chicken with lettuce instead of on a bun with fries and a cold root beer. It was so yummy. The food is brought to your table, employees come up to your table to ask if you want a refill and to drop off dipping sauces. They even come by at the end with a basket of goodies to choose from!!! - there were hams wipes, root beer flavoured lollipops, mints, tootchpicks etc. Overall such a great experience. Every time I'm in the area, I come here to eat because the service is truly better than any of the restaurant in the area. Highly recommend!! read more

But sometimes you get less carbonation in your root beer, and occasionally your onion rings might have spent too much time in the deep fryer. Where this particular location shines is, like many before me have already commented on, their service. I love this place! I know it's sort of strange to leave a review for a fast food chain that has many locations, but this place is really special. I just love that the staff is so kind. I went there and they treated me as if I was in a fancy restaurant! They wouldn't even let me get up and walk my tray to the garbage bin, they insisted that they take care of it all for me. They really didn't need to be that nice. They also walked around and asked if I needed anything, like a root beer lollipop :) I actually am really impressed by the quality of the food there and also the presentation. My fries came in a little metal basket. It was so cute, and honestly, nicer presentation than if I were at a full service restaurant. They also keep their glasses cooled before they serve a drink to you. It's these added touches that really make the difference. They also serve 'real' breakfast, meaning actual eggs and food :) I wasn't impressed with the coffee though, that was terrible. The moment I stepped into the restaurant I was greeted at the door. I thought that was odd for a fast food restaurant. Staff then delivered my order to the table I was seated, offered drink refills, checked up on us and opened the door again when we left. No wonder this location get 5 star reviews. The customer service is amazing! I used a coupon for our meal and the cashier said we can keep the coupon to reuse on another visit. As I ate, I saw staff run to the door to open the door for customers as they entered and exited the restaurant. I could not believe the dining experience I have just encountered. Definitely a model example for all restaurants to follow! I would skip the other location on Scott Road that is (driving distance) nearby and come to this location instead. read more

Wow... We visited this place to buy a quick meal. We didn't really expect this. They're the BEST restaurant we've been to. The staff at this specific A&W went above & beyond. We're very surprised! The restaurant is very well organized and super clean. The food was very fresh and hot and tasty. The staff opened the door for us when we got there, and greeted us in a very pleasant way, which created a very good first impression. They also asked us how everything was tasting and if we need anything. If I'm craving for A&W, I would go to this specific location just because of their excellent service here. The service here was far beyond what anyone would expect from a fast food restaurant. I have never experienced anything like this before. The staff was awesome, and very attentive. They brought us ketchup, came and refilled our drinks, checked on us to make sure everything was good, brought us a choice of mints or lollipops when we were done, and opened the door for us on our way out. It was our first time at this A&Ws and it most certainly will not be our last. Going to be hard to go to any other fast food restaurant ever again, other A&Ws included. read more

Went there not to long ago and they have the best service! The cashiers were energetic, funny, and very nice. They asked me if I wanted a apple turn over for c75... ummmm yessss please!! I love how they ask you to seat and they bring the food to you and they bring you a tray and you can get candies, napkins and other stuff it's great love it. I love coming to this location because from the moment you enter to when you leave, the staff ensures that your stay is as flawless as can be, everything from opening the entrance door for you, to offering complimentary re fills, toothpicks and salt. I think they're service has improved drastically over the past little while. Sometimes it can get awkward when an employee comes to your table offering something or offering a service such as picking up your garbage while your face is stuffed with food but I appreciate their effort to doing anything they can to help. In an age where finding great service is becoming rare, it should be fitting that when you DO find one that goes over and above that you pass it along. That being said - and without going into too much detail - I have to share my experience with the A&W restaurant located in Surrey on 72nd ave. First word? EXCELLENT! Having someone holding open the door while greeting you dressed in a proper CLEAN outfit was a great first impression, but it just gets better from there. The process of ordering our meals was flawless, with staff double checking everything to ensure we get exactly what we ordered. Once seated (with flowers on each table!), our drinks were brought and in shortly after our meals arrived. Ok, its 'fast food' but IT WAS FRESH AND DELICIOUS! Real metal forks were handed out for the poutine and everything tasted incredible. Look, I can go on and on but the reality is you have to check this out as it got even better. End results being that A&W just re-gained a customer, and one who will be loyal if this is what I am getting for my money. This was truly an eye-opening experience and a great way to show others what REAL SERVICE can be. To A&W, a tip of the hat for providing us with a great dining experience. I don't usually write reviews for fast food restaurants because, for the most part, you know what to expect. This A&W at Strawberry Hill surpassed my expectations for service and I just want to share it. It was a movie night and from the moment we walked in, there was someone at the door holding it open and greeting us. Business was brisk inside with lots of customers, but not overfilled and no lineups at the counter. They were super friendly when they took my order and even made suggestions. During our meal, we were even asked how things were... unheard of, but very welcome, in a fast food joint. I saw first hand someone on staff ready to help and clean up as soon as someone was ready to leave. And when it was our turn to go, we were taken care of for cleanup, offered goodbye treats (rootbeer lollipop! and other candies), and even offered a refill of pop to go. They always face you with smile, kindly ask you how was the meal, take out the empty tray, constantly ask you if your coffee needs to be refilled. This is the worst A&W that I've ever been to!! As we walked into the restaurant, the young inexperienced staff were mopping the floor with a mop that was not rang out, you could hear the mop splash onto the floor each time she put the mop back into the mop bucked with dirty smelly water in it. The floors were so wet that it was amazing that nobody in the place slipped. My husband placed our order and the girl behind the register didn't give him a receipt. When the food came out the order was incorrect and we had no receipt to prove differently. My husband went to the manager who was rude and blamed the error on my husband stating he didn't order correctly. My husband became upset and said the error wasn't on our part and walked away. The manager followed my husband back to the table and said he was just trying to help us understand what had happened (as to imply that we didn't understand) I explained that we understood and he walked away. Due to the rude reply and not ever once getting an apologize for the mixup, my husband said we'd never be back. I immediately pulled out my phone and begin this review. After my husband had finished his burger the manager came over with a side of fries as to a last ditch effort to offer a piece offering of their error and rudeness, uncleanliness, and lack of experience...a little too late - the review stands!!! One of the best service I have ever had! I live in Vancouver and came out to this area to pick up some presents Did not expect to get the quality of service that I did. Was greeted promptly once I entered. Was given options on my order. Cashier was off in about 10 minutes but took the time to chat with me and not rush me and my boyfriend taking out order. Our food was brought to us and was freshly made not sitting for hours in the back. When it was dropped off she asked if we needed anything and just said you guys might want ketchup and went to the self serve pump without hesitation and got it for us even though it was 2 feet away. Then when we were finished asked if we needed any more refills and stopped by with a tray of mints, napkins and tooth picks. i have to say that ive always thought that chain fast food joints of the same name are equil to each other . I have been prooven wrong by this A&W . This joint treats you like they want your business and that everything they do matters to you the customer.
