Texx Big Burger is located 10 minutes walk from Surrey Central Station. Due to various construction around the hood, it may be a challenge to get there on foot. The place is a quick reno of an office type strip mall. Laminated extra affordable materials can be felt in this rather cleanish place. Often times ambience can echo the attitude/ of the place. On to the burger, we both ended up ordering the double bacon cheeseburger with various fillings. It is cool that you can "create" your own burger. Though it leaves me to wonder what would it like to have the "chef's" special which there are none. I personally enjoyed my burger. A cut above fast food chain burgers, as it does appear to have limited negative aftertastes. Though, I felt there was copious amount of msg. The poutine tastes not much different than Costco's. We contemplated getting the medium, but other voices prevailed and wanted the XL - it jumps from medium to XL. Made to order, the burger was big and juicy (phrasing). I only got mayo for my burger and it was a lot less saucy than my friends who got 2+ sauces. The poutine was decent, not my favourite but the portion was giant. Wow! . . . What can I say about this place but bring your appetite. I'm usually a big eater, and this place left me full. I ordered the single Texx mixed burger, it came with bacon, cheese, hamburger patty and a chicken patty. I'm glad I took it easy and just went simple. Truly a meal that'll leave you to the next day, if not two days. The burger was good in that you get a chance to choose your toppings, I chose grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, pickles, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard, and relish. The toppings they do not skimp on. The load it up. I especially appreciated the fresh veggies, the lettuce didn't have a spec of brown on it and still had a crunch. The hamburger bun was fine, the bacon was crispy, but the chicken patty was a bit dry and stringy; maybe due to them cooking it in the deep fryer. The poutine was good. The fries were homemade although a bit on the saltier side, the cheese was ok; nothing really special (didn't have that squeak to them) and the gravy was light, barely noticeable in taste. Overall, good experience. Big portions, so bring your appetite. The atmosphere was pleasant. I was basically the only one who sat in, a few others ordered take out while I was there. I do think I like Texx's Single Bacon Cheeseburger slightly better than Five Guy's. It just seems a bit more substantial to me. However, they're so similar and are both amazing. I also got the regular order of French fries and it was a huge portion - even more than Five Guy's! I do have to admit that I like Five Guy's fries more, though - I like the peanut oil flavor and like the crispiness better (Texx's fries weren't as crispy). For who like the beefy taste of burgers this place is for you! We arrived at noon on Saturday and surprisingly it was pretty empty. It took a while to have someone come to the counter. The place wasn't quite what I thought it would be but we persevered and waited. Two others didn't and walked out after filing in there order form. The burgers! I liked my single cheese burger with mushrooms, tomato, mayo and lettuce, oh and hot sauce. The bun was just a little dry and meat well done but tasty. My partner had the veggie burger and it was a mess and was falling apart. He said the flavour was okay just too mushy. Could have been the onions and all the rest of the toppings he had. I don't think he wants to go back. Just an FYI they only have Soda fountain pop for beverages. I so needed a coffee...it was pretty cold out and needed something warm. My husbands double cheese was the same. No flavour. The skin-on fries were too much in quantity and are given to u unseasoned so that u can add ur salt and pepper. They were crispy and was the only food we liked. Customer service was bland. No one smiled or made any eye contact. The place had unclean tables which we cleaned when we sat on. No dine in for the mean time. & Yaaaaay , they accept cash. So you fill in your order on a paper ticking off the boxes for the type of burger and toppings and sides you want. I order the double bacon burger with fried mushrooms, fried onions, lettuce, tomato, ketchup, mustard. Wait time was approx 20 minutes because of the orders ahead of mine. But was well worth the wait. Have not had a burger this good in ages. Two big thick juicy beef patties, Tasty top quality meat. Decent amount of bacon, but the fried onions and mushrooms bring it home to tastebud heaven. The bun held together well for the size of the burger. I would say even better burgers than whitespot. Huge portion of fries. Seen them put potatoes in the potato presser so they they are fresh. Evenly salted, very yummy. More fries than I can eat at one time. Excellent Value Meal. This a nondescript location, among many other restaurants, located in a strip mall. As other YELP reviews have mentioned, don't let that fool you or turn you away. They serve high quality, fresh to order food, in much larger than expected portions, for a fraction of the price. This is the literal definition of a HIDDEN GEM. My wife and I arrived hungry and it was a good thing we did. First off, the portion of regular size French Fries is immense, freshly cut and definitely a couple pounds worth of delicious potato. You get to customize the basic ingredients on your burger order by checking boxes on an order sheet you get at the front counter, such a neat idea. We opted to try one beef burger and one chicken burger, so decided we would each eat half. For the beef, we added Cheese and Bacon and that ended up being a great choice, pretty sure the Beef was not previous frozen. As for the Chicken, we could literally hear them pounding the breast flat in the back, can't get much fresher than that. Both of the burgers were incredible, you really need to get yourself here and try the food for yourself. It's that good, period To add flavor and fun, this establishment also has a Burger Challenge that involves real money for a record shattering speed eat. I feel like it was overwhelming, too much going on... if I was super hungry and needed a quick fix, I'd totally recommend this for you. It's so good, personal favourite is the bacon cheese burger but holy cow, these portions are so big. Ordered a "medium" poutine to go with it for my partner and I... in what world is this a medium? It's 30 metric tons of fries, gravy and cheese curds. Don't get me wrong I love it, but wouldn't have ordered a "medium" if I knew the reality distortion field was so strong with their sizing.
