I was lucky enough to meet the owner, Abhi tonight at Lost in the 50's burgers. Although I have known about this place for years, I never tried this place until after the pandemic. And I am very glad that this place survived. The ambiance here is retro Americana burger stand cool. With photos of Elvis and old Coca cola memorabilia everywhere. This place also reminds me of a long ago famous Vancouver Burger stand in my youth that used to exist along Kingsway-except this place has more memorabilia from the 50's. A lot more! So far I have had the L.A King, their Hawaiian and Alberta Sirloin. And their fried chicken. Their burgers are probably one of the best in the city, if not the best. And for $10 taxes in you can get a mini combo of any of their burger which includes fries and a can of pop. Their buns are made fresh in house every day and same with their burgers and you can really taste the difference! They don't have a ton of seating but it is very cozy if you do decide to eat here. This place really is a classic burger stand and you can honk for service at the take out menu and park your car to wait for your order if you are going to take out or eat in your car. During the summer they usually have picnic tables outside. This isn't just a place for good food but also an experience! Oh, they also have a secret menu of chicken wings and popcorn chicken (usually on Uber eats) but if you are at the counter just ask and they will let you know how much the price is

I finally went to this place after seeing it around for decades. It was $15+ for a combo and as you can see for yourself the patty was underwhelming. If that was the regular combo, the "kids meal" would have a patty the size of a toonie. The food was made fresh to go with relatively fresh ingredients but it was the taste that was average at best. This place is obviously living off it's 1950s burger/shake image. But this place should be called "Left in the 50s" (not Lost in the 50s). With so many other places to try out with better quality and for a cheaper price, there is no reason to go back there again unless you left your memory in the 50s.

Soggy bun on London Secret burger

If I could give half stars I would rate 3.5, but this place is not quite worth 4. I had somewhat high expectations after reading some very positive reviews but was left underwhelmed. Yes we did takeout, but it was only a 15min drive home and I fully expect that the quality will Deteriorate somewhat from that, which I've taken into account when reviewing. I ordered the London secret with bacon, fries, and a large chocolate milkshake. The fries were not crispy which could have been from sitting in the takeout box but they also tasted like they had no salt on them at all. The milkshake was decent but honestly I've had better elsewhere and the large seemed more like a regular size to me... the burger was where I had the highest expectations. The patty itself was delicious- you can tell that they are made with quality beef and made by hand. However, unfortunately it was quite greasy and this resulted in the bottom of my bun being really soggy and off putting. My husband ordered the L.A. King which has more toppings than my burger and yet his bun was not soggy. He was happy with the burger but said it wasn't anything over the top to have him rushing back for. He had fries instead of poutine which was really good and not lacking in cheese or gravy- actually I would say tooo much gravy (see pic). Overall, we are happy we tried it here but will probably go elsewhere next time we are craving a burger.

Get ready to step into the time machine when you choose to indulge on your next burger from here. Everything housee made, including the buns! Fresh pressed sirloin burger patties served with "The Works" then topped with your choice of accompaniments from cheese to mushrooms to bacon (you can even add a hot dog or fried egg!) We decided on The London (with mushrooms) and the ever polpular L.A. King (cheese, bacon and mushrooms) combo'd with homecut fries, a Coke and a Banana Fudge milkshake. Everythng is Delicious. We're coming back. The owner and crew are fabulous. Very limited indoor seating, but there are a few spots available outside. There is drive thru service available in keeping with the 50's theme - it would be cool if they brought back the burger hops!

You weren't wrong! Tasty burger and fries. The gentleman at the drive through window was really lovely. He said he bakes all of the buns in-house and cuts all the potatoes himself. He's also very proud that there are no preservatives in his sirloin. The kids loved their hot dog meals. Everything was really fresh! Will be back :)

I ate everything of mine delicious . Never a disappoint eating here, I'm always leaving satisfied and my belly full . I love coming here it's been a minute. They do have setting inside and outside or you can pull up and park and walk up and order the staff is always so friendly can't wait to be back I recommend the mocha fudge milkshake Southern smoked pulled pork BBQ Taxes burger

Thumbs down! Bully owner! I had take-out order of "London Secret" with mushrooms. I'll give you a brief summary of my experience: - I got the wrong order, they made it with bacon - there was no cheese - "sauteed" onion was raw - the ban was obviously old, the top was dry as a desert and the bottom was so soggy that it fell apart - the worst was the patty, it was tasteless and extra dry All in all, it was disgusting. I called to complain, the person who answered the phone apologized and said they would reimburse me. I went back the next day, had the "honor" of meeting the owner, who is incredibly rude and disrespectful - a bully, who wouldn't let me speak. He yelled at me, he said he made his own hamburgers, they're the best, and he won't pay me back my money. See for yourselves how "the best" burger looks. Almost forgot: the ants were crawling all over the counter, can't even imagine how sanitary the kitchen is! So, if you want to waste your money, go ahead. Also, make sure that you got what you paid for. Needless to say, they're never going to see my friends and family again.

I love their gravy taste. Over the years, they just add less and less toppings. Thet used to not count tge number of pumps of gravy and just make sure it's all covered. Now theres only 2? pumps. The gravy still tastes good at least. A small scoop of cheese curds... almost too bare - you can see from the photos. Fries still taste the same. I was also here when you can sprinkle california seasoning yourself but now you have to ask for a packet and it's limited to 1 per poutine. Although it's a big packet, it feels like a waste because I don't use it all.

You can hear the music from the mall , however i don't believe they had any of their own tunes playing. You can easily have a conversation here. However, because of the small seating/eating area, you will sometimes have other customers staring you down to leave so they can take your table. It's a busy mall I get it, but please don't be the person staring others down. Service was okay, nothing special, they greet you and you order , followed by waiting for them to call your order number. Ordered the Cowboy - with the fries and drink add on to make it a combo - and found it to be on the pricier end of things. After taxes and "Tip" it was nearly $25. Some may say that is average , it's in the mall , rising costs and such, which I understand. But I just didn't feel like the portion or quality measured up. Fries were okay , tasted like Kirkland Costco fries - nice crisp - however seasoned poorly as some pieces were way to salty , while others just tasted like a plain potato. The cowboy mentioned crispy onions - did not taste any of that - Spicy BBQ sauce was on the sweeter side. - the bun was pretty dry - and the fillings were lifted , and wasn't actually enough to fill the entire sandwich. Can of mountain dew - well it was a canned drink so it was fine. As there is tons of other food options in the mall - i will unlikely visit this one again. Hope everyone else has a better experience , if you decide to give it a go.

My order: -Japanese Style Cheesesteak: my personal favourite - juicy sautéed mushrooms & onions, aged cheddar, wasabi mayo and of course premium ribeye steak slices. It's saucy, and the cheese blend enhances the flavour. -Koagie (Korean Hoagie): Kimchi was good (not too sour or spicy), so I could comfortably eat it. -New Yorker: the classic if you don't want to venture away from a "normal Philly cheesesteak" - topped with fresh tomatoes and lettuce Overall, the hoagie roll was soft on the inside, and a good chewy texture on the outside. I reheated mines in the microwave, and it still tasted good several hours later. These cheeseteaks are more saucy than the traditional cheesesteaks, which I personally enjoyed as every bite was filled with flavour. Very filling - best to share if you want to try different flavours. I also really liked their assortment of cheeses (no fake Cheez-Whiz stuff, sorry if you like that though), I think they use aged cheddar, provolone, and some others in a cheese blend. They definitely don't cheap out, and use a generous portion of tender/sliced prime rib steak. All cheesesteaks are made-to-order on a grill when you place your order. -Onion Rings: skinny-style -Deep Fried Pickles: good thick cut of pickles to breading ratio -ACC Fries (Garlic Butter & Parmesan): classic thick cut fries with a very "potato-y" flavour -White Chocolate Blueberry Milkshake: quite sweet, definitely for people that have a sweet tooth Also, I definitely have to mention the house-made sauces, they're so good for dipping the onion rings, pickles, and fries (cheesesteaks were saucy enough, so I didn't need it there). My personal favourites were the roasted garlic aioli, smoke Chipotle BBQ (not to overpowering or salty), and mustard (real mustard seeds).

The location looks pretty shiny and new, like the rest of the food court. Staff were friendly. A&W has some pretty awesome (but expensive) onion rings. I'm always more fond of the self location ones more than the food court, and one of the reasons is how the burger comes out. We ordered two 'Teen' burgers, with fries, and when I opened the bagged package (for those of you who have never had a burger from A&W they wrap their burgers in a bag!!) the burger looked like someone was playing Cooking Mama on 'MAX' difficulty, and needed to just put the right pieces in the right place to build a burger. The burger pattie was almost half way off the bun, with the bacon sliding to the other side, and the top of the bun was barely sitting on this whole display of burger art. I should not have to re-position burger parts when coming to a fast-food joint! The fries came out fresh from the oil, as they were piping hot, something that always seems to be the case at A&W, and I will give them props for that. As I said, it's alright if you need the quick fix, but for me, I'd still rather go to their restaurant locations.
