I was really looking forward to liking this place; especially since there are such few options for a quick lunch around the area. My co workers come here often and say it's good but honestly for the price it was very underwhelming. I ordered the "Pawer" $11 which comes with a beef patty, fried egg, cheddar cheese, and fried onions. I combo-ed it up with yam fries and a strawberry milkshake for $11 extra. Let's start with the burger: The beef patty was dry and bland, the bun was also dry like it had been left out for a week. The fried egg was good since it was runny. However there were barely any onions in my burger. The lettuce and tomatoes were very fresh but altogether it was just a very bland burger, like they didn't put any salt in it? The worst were the yam fries, they were burnt. I ate 4 fries and stopped. Since I was on a lunch break from work, I didn't ask then to remake it for me. A $11 yam fries you'd expect better quality. The strawberry milkshake also tasted like whipped cream with barely any strawberry flavour. It wasn't thick like a real ice cream shake. The tables were also dirty and sticky, with leftover crumbs from previous customers. I'm not sure I'll come back, especially since there is a Triple O's with better fries, better milk shake, and better prices next door.

So this was my first experience at Vera's. First off, I ordered the taco bowl with chicken, which was pretty tasty. Although I didn't know it was going to come with tortilla chips on the side, as opposed to a tortilla bowl. It was kind of a bummer lol. My friend ordered burger and fries which she really enjoyed. The fries were so good. I couldn't stop picking at her food! The bummer was that the refillable pop was so flat. I like the casual ambiance of thier booths. It was a nice place to hang out on my lunch break. I'm definitely going back...just not getting any pop.

Great service, yummy burgers, poutine was a hit. Location could do with better parking but the food and service was amazing!

    Lookin good.

The city cup bylaw has changed--you shouldn't be charging people 25 cents for a cup of water.

The unfortunate downside for getting a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Butter Beef - beefy, garlicky, herby, tangy, sweet, it's got a little bit of everything. Very tender Trieu Chau Fried Rice - this dish is fantastic. One of the better fried rice dishes I have had. It has the wok hay and I would have been perfectly happy just to eat this as a meal Phnom Penh Chicken Wings - the first bite I had, I was not impressed. I dipped it in the lemon juice with pepper and it had some crisp, but was really lacking in flavor. Then we found a small pile of fried garlic near the bottom of the plate. That's where all the salt and flavor was. We put that onto the wings and they were quite good. Wish that was just set to the side at the beginning. Green Papaya Salad - this thing is packed with flavor. I liked it quite a bit, but I thought the beef jerky was an oddball ingredient Filet Beef Luc Lac - thinly sliced beef that is tender and covered in a silky sauce. It was quite salty so it went well with our rice. No major complaints about any of the food and I thought they had some pretty unique takes on dishes. My family scores: Brendan - 4.0 Charlotte - 4.0 Shanying - 4.0 Winston - 4.5

For a small party we only could really order the trifecta: chicken wings, butter beef and bo luc lac. Loved the chicken wings and butter beef. They're as good as everyone says they are and I can understand why they're popular dishes to order. The Bo luc lac was just ok for me. I've had better. Worth trying at least once. Don't think I'd wait 1-2 hours to eat here though.

I only learnt of this place when googling for roast meat and this popped up. The store is divided into two sections. One for the cooked roast meat where the menu is at the back of wall. Written in both Chinese and English, they are quite hard to read though. Bring your glasses or better yet, take a picture and zoom in on the photo like what I did. The other part is where you can buy fresh uncooked meat. The other side is lined with refrigerated items. Besides buying the roast meat, you can also have it with rice with your choice of meat. I bought a pound (min order) of roast pork and half a Hong Kong style roast duck (pipa duck I believe). I will say communication can be quite tough as the staff seemed more comfortable speaking in Cantonese which I do not speak. So it has to be a basic ordering in English without any questions or requests. The roast pork has super crispy skin which is really good but it also has such a thick layer of fats underneath that I had to remove it. You could probably save those fatty bits and fry them later to make lardon and add to your home cooked noodles or something. I like the pipa duck. Tender and tasty meat. Tip/Life hack: I googled and found a way to reheat the leftovers so they do not dry out -- cover the meat with foil and heat in oven at 400c for 20-30 mins. For the roast pork, I only covered the meat part and let the skin peeked out so the skin got even crispier.
